Today, I'm joined by Dr. Justin Collings to discuss his new book, Divine Law, just out from the Maxwell Institute as part of its Themes in the Doctrine and Covenants series. This volume is one of seven and will be featuring interviews with each of the authors over the next few months. Justin Collings is the academic vice president of Brigham Young University and a distinguished scholar in his own right. He graduated from BYU and earned a law degree and a PhD in history from Yale, and clerked on the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In addition to his administrative duties, he remains a professor of law at BYU's J. Reuben Clark Law School, where he authored two books on constitutional law and history from Oxford University Press. Justin and his wife Lia live in Orem, Utah. And as you'll hear in our conversation, are the proud parents of eight children. As Justin admits, the topic of divine law may not strike you as immediately compelling. It might even spark some deep-seated fear or dread. But I think you'll find that he brings this book to life with careful thinking, real life examples, and most of all, a bedrock conviction grounded in the revelations that God is loving, merciful, and full of grace. Divine law and divine love in this way of looking at things are one and the same. Justin was a good sport to field some tough questions about punishment versus consequences and a threat versus a warning. But if you're expecting dry legalese, you'll be glad to find that Justin is a lively and lyrical writer and his book is studded with poetry. In fact, our discussion of poetry's relationship to scripture and its role in a spiritual life is one of my favorite parts of the interview. I think you'll enjoy it too. Purchase at the links below.https://a.co/d/fQPtRdBhttps://www.deseretbook.com/product/P6075136.html

Nestled in the small, unassuming town of Stella, Missouri, in the heart of the Ozarks, nine-year-old Rowan Ford lived a life like any kid would. She shared a modest home in Newton County with her mother, Colleen Munson, and her stepfather, David Spears. 25-year-old David Spears had a long-standing friendship with 32-year-old Christopher Collings, a man who wasn't family by blood but had become close to the family over the years. Collings moved into the Spears household during the summer of 2007, living in the basement and being looked up to by the young Rowan, who fondly called him “Uncle Chris.” But by late October, Collings left the Spears home and relocated to a farm in Wheaton, Missouri, where he had a trailer parked on the property.  On the chilly evening of November 2, 2007, Nathan Mahurin, another friend of both Spears and Collings, joined the two men at the Wheaton farm. The trio stopped at a local liquor store to stock up on malt liquor before returning to Spear's home to drink and play pool. The following morning, November 3, her mother, Colleen, returned from her shift around 9:00 a.m. to find Rowan missing. At first, she assumed her daughter was somewhere in the house, but after a frantic search, she realized Rowan was gone. Join Jen and Cam of Our True Crime Podcast on this episode, ' Snatched As She Slept: Rowan Ford.'Listener discretion is by @octoberpodVHSMusic is by our EP @theinkypawprintSources:https://caselaw.findlaw.com/court/mo-supreme-court/1676021.htmlhttps://casetext.com/case/collings-v-state-2https://www.ozarksfirst.com/crimetraveler/crime-traveler-what-happened-to-rowan-ford/https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/12/03/christopher-collings-execution-missouri-rowan-ford/76744499007/https://www.cbsnews.com/news/christopher-collings-missouri-execution-rowan-ford-murder/https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/crime/missouri-execution-christopher-collings-rape-murder-b2658052.htmlhttps://krcgtv.com/news/local/parson-state-of-missouri-will-execute-man-convicted-of-rape-murder-of-nine-year-old-girlhttps://www.themirror.com/news/us-news/breaking-death-row-inmate-christopher-838753https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna21708153https://www.joplinglobe.com/news/local_news/videotape-confession-presented-in-rowan-ford-case/article_16eca7b2-73ee-519c-8000-2d3ed82751c9.htmlhttps://www.joplinglobe.com/news/local_news/chris-collings-father-no-matter-what-happens-i-love-my-son/article_e10bdd91-c2d5-5fa5-ad47-fb1b9d65fd00.htmlhttps://www.cbsnews.com/news/christopher-collings-missouri-execution-rowan-ford-murder/https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/dec/02/missouri-execution-christopher-collingshttps://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/12/02/christopher-collings-execution-rowan-ford-missouri/76578296007/https://www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx?filename=/docket/docketfiles/html/public/23-6703.htmlhttps://mdcp.nwaonline.com/news/2012/oct/04/murder-charge-dropped-20121004/https://fox4kc.com/news/national/ap-us-news/ap-missouri-man-facing-execution-in-the-sexual-assault-and-strangling-of-a-9-year-old-girl/https://www.fourstateshomepage.com/news/crime/murder-victims-step-father-where-is-he-now/https://www.news-leader.com/story/news/local/ozarks/2024/12/02/missouri-executing-christopher-collings-rape-murder-rowan-ford/76711350007/https://www.ky3.com/2025/01/14/missouri-lawmakers-demand-firing-rowan-fords-step-father-public-defenders-office/

In this episode of the IJGC podcast, Editor-in-Chief Dr. Pedro Ramirez is joined by Drs. Andreas Obermair and Rachel Collings to discuss the impact of surgical complications on surgeons. Dr Obermair is an Australian-based gynaecological oncologist, researcher and leader of innovation. He is the PI of numerous investigator-initiated clinical trials and is never tired of finding more effective and less harmful ways to treat patients diagnosed with gynaecological cancer. Dr Rachel Collings is a gynaecologist and fertility specialist working in private practice in Toowoomba, Australia. She has a particular interest gynaecological surgery and doctor wellbeing.    Highlights: While patients are primarily affected by complications, surgeons are second victims when complications develop. Second victim refers to a clinician who experiences emotional trauma when complications develop. Second victims may feel shame, guilt, sadness and a crisis of confidence. In addition, second victims may develop problems with sleep, or develop musculoskeletal and gastrointestinal symptoms. Second victim syndrome is more likely if complications are severe, caused by a perceived mistake, or if the surgeon is concerned that it may attract criticism from colleagues. 89% of respondents reported having impacts on their sleep when they are involved in a surgical complication. Younger age, fewer years in practice, and female respondents had higher impacts of stress related to complications. Female surgeons reported higher levels of physical and mental health impacts and higher levels of impact on sleep compared with male surgeons.

This week's episode is a selection of interviews I carried out at IBMA World of Bluegrass in Raleigh, North Carolina last week.It was the last IBMA in Raleigh before the event moves to Chattanooga in 2025, and was an amazing week, full of great conversations, events, music, instruments, picking and people. I had a fantastic time and can't tell you how much it means to me to feel so welcomed by the bluegrass and string band community. But it was also a devastating week for the people of western North Carolina and East Tennessee, as hurricane Helene devastated the area. In Raleigh we were lucky to escape with some rain and minor delays to the street festival - others were nowhere near so lucky. There's a desperate need for help and resources in the area so, if you'd like to donate something (however small), there's a list here of places you can go to do that. OK, on with the interviews. In this episode you'll hear from:IBMA executive director Ken White, on IBMA WOB's move to Chattanooga next yearChristopher Howard-Williams from IBMA, EBMA and Bluegrass in La Roche, on the international bluegrass scene and some of the challenges it facesPatricia Butler, co-founder of ArtistWorks, on receiving a Distinguished Achievement AwardSteve Nall (Nully) of Collings Guitars, on why their new Hill Country series is a radical departure for Collings and why bringing them to IBMA is so valuable in terms of feedbackBrenna MacMillan, on her brand new record Dear Life, and finding community amongst her fellow musiciansChris Eaton, UK dobro player, on coming to IBMA for the very first timeThanks to everyone I met out in Raleigh. Back next week with another IBMA interview - in the meantime have a great week and happy picking.MattSend a message to Bluegrass Jam Along! (Don't forget to include your name so I know who you are!) What is locked-in syndrome? How does it affect someone? Locked-in syndrome might be a condition you have heard of - but may not know much about. This episode will help you understand more about locked-in syndrome and what it is like to live with or support a family member with the condition. To shed a light on the topic, Georgie Tyler-Collings joins Elizabeth and Julia to tell them about her inspiring dad, David Collings. He was left with locked-in syndrome after suffering an ischemic brain stem stroke aged 59 while on holiday in France. Although paralysed, David is fully cognitive and communicates using his eyes. Alongside her wider family, Georgie talks about what happened, how they got him home to Sheffield from France and the impact it has had on her and other family members. She says: "It's tough, but if my family can do it, then you can too". Before his stroke, David would take part in various cycling and swimming challenges - and his motivation for a challenge has not waned. In 2018, he used a special motorised bike to cycle two hours a day for 80 days from his care home and, using the same method, he is currently clocking up the miles to get to New Zealand. This is a story of a family coming together in crisis for a special man, the ups and downs, the impact and loss. But it is also a story of plenty of laughs and support to help David live a happy life with locked-in syndrome. Welcome back to Season 11 of the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning podcast! Today we are diving into episode 324, where we continue our transformative 18-week Self-Leadership series. We explore the riveting application of practical neuroscience and uncover how it influences our daily life, productivity, and overall well-being. In this episode, we delve into the third chapter of Grant 'Upbeat' Bosnick's book, focusing on the Neuroscience of Inspiration and Motivation – a topic that scored highest in my self-assessment. Grant emphasizes the importance of self-motivation and inspiration in propelling us towards our goals, and we explore how these elements chemically affect our brains. Discover the powerful role inspiring stories and images play in our lives, producing neurochemical oxytocin (facilitating feelings of trust) and dopamine (associated with motivation and reward). Learn how the individuals, places, or things that inspire us can connect, rewire our brains and form new ideas through the process of neuroplasticity. This episode aims to provide listeners with practical steps to integrate the neuroscience of inspiration into their lives. Identify the individuals and factors that inspire and motivate you, visualize the chemical reactions occurring in your brain during moments of inspiration, and finally, understand the implication of this knowledge on a deeper level. Join us as we continue our journey of self-discovery, blending neuroscience with everyday practices to reach unparalleled heights in productivity and performance, creating a future by design, not default. EPISODE #323, Chapter 2, “Using Neuroscience to Level Up Your 2024 Goals” ✔ What is Kurt Lewin's “Field Theory” and how can we use it to improve our performance towards our goals in 2024? ✔ 3 STEPS for Applying Field Theory into our Daily Life to Reach Heightened Levels of Achievement in 2024. EPISODE #324, Chapter 3, “The Neuroscience of Inspiration” ✔ Uncover WHO or WHAT inspires you. ✔ Learn what happens to our brain when we are inspired (by a person or a thing). ✔ Apply the Neuroscience of Inspiration to our life in 3 steps: WRITE, THINK and LEARN to Level Up Our Results in 2024. On today's episode #324 we continue with our 18-Week Self-Leadership Series based on Grant ‘Upbeat' Bosnick's “Tailored Approaches to Self-Leadership: A Bite Size Approach Using Psychology and Neuroscience” that we first dove into with our interview on EP #321.[i] During this interview, I told Grant that his book contained a thorough and deep overview of the Neuroscience of Self-Leadership, and I felt like each of the 18 chapters could be covered in 18 weeks, so I decided to set our season theme to the Neuroscience of Self-Leadership that will be our focus until June of this year. My goal with EACH of these next episodes, covered over the next 18 weeks, is that the application of the neuroscience within each lesson, will change us in some way, create new meaning, giving us NEW AHA Moments, open up NEW portals of creativity, that we can use to accelerate our results in 2024. Before we do this, I highly encourage you to take your own Leadership Self-Assessment so you can see which chapters of Grant's book come out for you as GREEN or important to focus on now, which chapters are ORANGE and not as important, and which ones for you, came out as RED, and lower priority. As we go through these lessons, just keep an open mind to what it is that you might learn from these three areas. Take note of AHA Moments of learning- from each lesson. Did something jump out at you as important in an area that was of lower priority? (RED) Be sure to circle, or write out the NEW learnings from these lessons that you will put into action to improve your results this year. Remembering that it's not just thinking in a certain way that will change our results, but we've also got to take action with what we learn. Whatever concepts we learn within each chapter, I hope that the science gives you something NEW to help you to THINK DIFFERENTLY this year, and move you to greater heights with more momentum like we learned from Kurt Lewin's Field Theory last week. For today's episode #324, we will be looking at Chapter 3, “The Neuroscience of Inspiration and Motivation” which came out as my highest scoring area on the Self-Assessment Quiz. Grant opens up Chapter 3 by saying “we cannot motivate others; we can only inspire them. Motivation comes from within. Inspiration can come from anywhere—within us, around us and through us.” (Ch 3, Grant Bosnick, Tailored Approaches to Self-Leadership). Next, he says that “inspiration is moving people, or being moved ourselves, to be excited about achieving something. It's about seeing or doing things differently, or changing our thinking, feeling or who we are, now and for the future.” Ch 3, Grant Bosnick, Tailored Approaches to Self-Leadership). I'm looking at this chapter, as one of the positive forces that can help us to gain momentum towards our goals, thinking about Kurt Lewin's Field Theory from our last EP 233.[ii] Using motivation (that comes from within) and inspiration to drive us towards our goals, I'm hoping this chapter will help us to uncover some new ideas that we can use to push us forward, and help us to gain that feeling of momentum as we are in pursuit of our goals. Grant asks us to think about what inspires you? People or things? I find inspiration in both and use ideas from other people to help me to write these episodes, while also can gain inspiration from nature, or being near beautiful places, and buildings. Who inspires you? What inspires you? Next, think about why this person or thing inspires you. Does it give you more hope for the future, or help you to see things differently? What else comes to your mind when you think about people or places that inspire you? The Neuroscience of Inspiration DID YOU KNOW “that inspiring stories and images produce oxytocin in our brain? Oxytocin is the neurochemical that facilitates feelings of trust. Inspiration also produces dopamine in our brains (Ashby et al., 1999, Depue and Collings, 1999) which is a neurochemical associated with motivation and reward.” Ch 3, Grant Bosnick, Tailored Approaches to Self-Leadership). Think about this for a minute. Those people who inspire us, we will tend to trust more, because of the neurochemical oxytocin that was released into our brain. We covered the Neuroscience of Trust on EP #206[iii] right before our interview with Greg Link, who wrote a book on this topic with Stephen M.R. Covey (the son of the late Dr. Stephen R. Covey) called Smart Trust: The Defining Skill That Transforms Managers into Leaders.[iv] Dr. Stephen Covey would say that “Trust in the highest form of human motivation. It brings out the very best in people. But it takes time and patience.” We also learned that trust “frees up the brain for other activities like creativity, planning and decision-making”[v] which to me shows on a brain level why “the act of extending trust is an act of leadership.” (Stephen M.R. Covey). Then we can look at inspiration that produces dopamine in our brain, and is associated with motivation and reward, so people and places that inspire us, can also motivate us, magnifying the trust we feel, and lead us forward. AHA Moment of Learning! Does the Neuroscience of Inspiration give you a whole new outlook on certain people and places in your life? Does it help you to understand yourself on a deeper level? Maybe you wondered “what about this person or place motivates me?” or “Why do I feel trust towards one person, and not another?” I do believe that trust is a feeling that can be felt, since everything going on inside is expressed on the outside. You can see and feel these vibrations and frequencies that we covered in depth with David Wong[vi], and frequencies don't lie. I agree with Dr. Stephen Covey that this trust we feel through inspiration is “a performance multiplier which takes your trajectory upwards, for every action you engage in, from strategy to execution.” I think it's interesting to see how the chemicals in our brain draw us towards certain people or places, connected to whatever it is that inspires us. Wait there's more! Grant goes on to explain that “the concept of neuroplasticity underpins inspiration” and that “Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to form new connections and reorganize itself as a result. Through inspiration, our brain is literally restructuring itself as we connect ideas together to form new ideas. The process of inspiration carves our new pathways inside the brain.” Ch 3, Grant Bosnick, Tailored Approaches to Self-Leadership). Our brains are literally being changed by people or places that inspire us. They are not only motivating us, but these people and things (like places, or artwork, or nature) rewire our brain, helping us to form new ideas.  If you ask me, this is a key piece of information for us to understand if we want to be more innovative and creative this year, and take our results to new heights. Grant's book, and chapter 3, dives deeper into motivation and inspiration, and crosses into later chapters of the book, but for now, we will end here, as we take The Neuroscience of Inspiration, and see how we can apply it in our own life, to help us to overcome negative challenges, and create the momentum needed to reach heightened levels of performance towards our goals this year. PUTTING THE NEUROSCIENCE OF INSPIRATION INTO PRACTICE: WRITE: Write a list of: Who inspires you, and why? Do you feel trust with this person that could be a performance multiplier? Think about this. Why, or why not? What inspires you, and why? Do you feel motivation from places that we know can rewire our brain and make new neural connections? THINK: Think of your brain being bombarded by oxytocin (the neurochemical that facilitates the feelings of trust) and then dopamine (the neurochemical associated with motivation and reward) and then the NEW neural pathways that are being rewired into your brain with whatever it is that you are drawing inspiration from. LEARN: What does this mean to you? Does it help you to make sense of your world in a new way?  Does this connection to science help to motivate you in a NEW way, perhaps pushing you past some of the obstacles that once held you back? Does this NEW understanding energize you in some way, or give you more self-awareness towards your goals? My goal with these bite-sized chapters connecting Neuroscience and Self-Leadership to our daily practice, is that we begin to see how simple it is to connect an understanding of how our brain works, to our best practices, that we tap into daily, taking us to new heights. Applying the Neuroscience of Inspiration to my life, I can clearly see what's most important to me, why I'm drawn to certain people or places, and how important it is for me to keep learning, and applying what we uncover together on these episodes. REVIEW AND CONCLUSION To review and conclude this week's episode #324 on “The Neuroscience of Inspiration” we asked the question: DID YOU KNOW: “that inspiring stories and images produce oxytocin in our brain? Oxytocin is the neurochemical that facilitates feelings of trust. Inspiration also produces dopamine in our brains which is a neurochemical associated with motivation and reward.” Ch 3, Grant Bosnick, Tailored Approaches to Self-Leadership). Next, we put The Neuroscience of Inspiration into action in our daily life with 3 steps: STEP 1 WRITE: A list of who or what inspires you, and why. STEP 2 THINK: Of what is happening to your brain when it's being inspired (by a person or thing). It's being bombarded by oxytocin, which is why you will feel trust, and dopamine is released which will motivate you in a new way. STEP 3 LEARN: What does the Neuroscience of Inspiration mean to you? How can you use this understanding to help you to gain momentum towards your 2024 goals, and push you towards higher levels of achievement? Once we have our list of who or what inspires us, and we can imagine the neural pathways in our brain making NEW connections, we just keep learning, growing and moving forward, with NEW momentum, in the direction of our goals. With each lesson we cover, I'm hoping to show us how we can gain the momentum needed to activate Lewin's Field Theory, and suddenly, life becomes easy. The resistances fade away, and our goals or whatever it is we are working on, are not far off in the distance, but they are within our reach. This is when we know we can use our MINDS and understanding of our BRAIN, to turn MIND into MATTER, and create our own futures by design, rather than let them happen by default. I'll end with a quote to highlight the self-awareness we will build once we've implemented this lesson into our daily life, since our goal with this 18-week series is to help each of us to become more self-aware. “The first and best victory is to conquer self” – Plato I hope the Neuroscience of Inspiration has helped you in some way, to move closer to whatever it is you are working on this year. I'll see you next week with Chapter 4 on Mindfulness.     REFERENCES: [i]Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast EPISODE #321 with Grant ‘Upbeat' Bosnick  https://andreasamadi.podbean.com/e/insights-from-grant-upbeat-bosnick/   [ii] Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast EPISODE #323 https://andreasamadi.podbean.com/e/insights-from-season-11-of-the-neuroscience-meets-sel-podcast/   [iii]Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast EPISODE #207 Brain Fact Friday on The Neuroscience of Trust  https://andreasamadi.podbean.com/e/brain-fact-friday-on-the-neuroscience-of-trust/   [iv] Smart Trust: The Defining Skill That Transforms Managers into Leaders by Stephen M.R. Watership Down is an adventure novel by English author Richard Adams, published by Rex Collings Ltd of London in 1972. Set in Hampshire in southern England, the story features a small group of rabbits. Although they live in their natural wild environment, with burrows, they are anthropomorphised, possessing their own culture, language, proverbs, poetry, and mythology. Evoking epic themes, the novel follows the rabbits as they escape the destruction of their warren and seek a place to establish a new home (the hill of Watership Down), encountering perils and temptations along the way.   Watership Down was Richard Adams' debut novel. It was rejected by several publishers before Collings accepted the manuscript; the published book then won the annual Carnegie Medal (UK), annual Guardian Prize (UK), and other book awards. The novel was adapted into an animated feature film in 1978 and, from 1999 to 2001, an animated children's television series. In 2018, a drama of the story was made, which both aired in the UK and was made available on Netflix.   Adams completed a sequel almost 25 years later, in 1996, Tales from Watership Down, constructed as a collection of 19 short stories about El-ahrairah and the rabbits of the Watership Down warren.     Watership Down is a 1978 British animated adventure-drama film, written, produced and directed by Martin Rosen and based on the 1972 novel by Richard Adams.  It was financed by a consortium of British financial institutions and was distributed by Cinema International Corporation in the United Kingdom. Released on 19 October 1978, the film was an immediate success and it became the sixth-most popular film of 1979 at the UK box office.   It features the voices of John Hurt, Richard Briers, Harry Andrews, Simon Cadell, Nigel Hawthorne and Roy Kinnear, among others, and was the last film work of Zero Mostel, as the voice of Kehaar the gull. The musical score was by Angela Morley and Malcolm Williamson. Art Garfunkel's hit song "Bright Eyes" was written by songwriter Mike Batt. It has garnered a cult following.     Opening Credits; Introduction (1.21); Background History (20.15); Watership Down Plot Synopsis (21.57); Book Thoughts (29.16); Let's Rate (50.29); Introducing a Film (52.51); Watership Down Film Trailer (1978) (56.13); Lights, Camera, Action (59.36); How Many Stars (1:40.44); End Credits (1:44.27); Closing Credits (1:45.25)   Opening Credits– Epidemic Sound – Copyright . Generation Hunt Podcast, host Joe and CEO of BDS Outdoors, Bradley Collings , One of the main issues Bradley highlights is the disparity between the benefits offered to disabled veterans and the limitations they face when it comes to hunting on public land. In the state of Tennessee, disabled veterans receive a discounted hunting license, but they still have to pay additional fees to hunt on public land. This seems unfair, especially when compared to the lifetime sportsman license that covers all aspects of hunting for Bradley's children. Bradley raises the question of why disabled veterans are not granted the same privileges as those with the lifetime sportsman license. He believes that if the state offers a discounted or free license to disabled veterans, it should cover all hunting activities, including access to public land. This would provide disabled veterans with the same opportunities as other hunters and ensure equal treatment. Furthermore, Bradley expresses his frustration with the declining fur market and the financial challenges faced by trappers. He discusses his goals for trapping, which include mitigating the predator population and protecting livestock and poultry. However, he acknowledges the difficulties in making a profit from trapping due to low fur prices. Despite this, Bradley remains committed to trapping and finding sustainable ways to manage the predator population. Bradley emphasizes the importance of family involvement in his future hunting endeavors. He plans to focus on hunting with his wife and children, nurturing their interest in the sport and passing on his knowledge and skills. Bradley also mentions his desire to support his brother, who is a disabled veteran as well, by purchasing a sportsman license for him. https://www.instagram.com/bdsoutdoor?igsh=anZjcXZydHJzOWd4

It's the most wonderful time of year: the “year in gear” season is finally upon us, and we're celebrating with this special in-person episode of Dipped In Tone. Zach and Rhett gang up at Zach's place to rundown the best of the best of musical excellence and oddities in 2023.The guys start in with their favorite stompboxes. Rhett tips his hat to Old Blood Noise Endeavors' Beam Splitter, Hologram's Chroma Console, and Universal Audio's 1176 pedal, which he runs as a hard-clipped overdrive. Some might say it sounds shitty, but as Zach notes, “Shitty is pretty in the mix!” Zach's “boring” picks include the Nobels ODR-1, his collection of new Tube Screamer variants, and the Poly Beebo. Along the way, they talk about the magic of going back to old gear they'd written off in their younger days, and dig into the root causes of Zach's discomfort with more experimental playing approaches.Rhett sings praises for the new Orange OR30 and remembers its early 2000s predecessor, the AD30, and he and Zach agree on the superior, “8K” quality of Two-Rock's current offerings over nearly every other amp on the market. Out of this year's axes, Rhett favors both Fender's Vintera II '60s Bass VI and the Mexican-made Jason Isbell Custom Telecaster, plus the Collings 470 JL—Julian Lage's signature. Zach spotlights his PRS SE Silver Sky, and a gorgeous Gibson Custom Shop 1959 ES-335 Reissue.Be sure to stick around for the end, when the duo call out the year's biggest disappointment in gear, which Zach describes as “baby's first modeler.”Big thanks to StewMac for sponsoring this episode. Instead, her works function as “emotional detritus”: they speak of knowledges of feelings, the debris of violence, language and desire which are inherent to living and surviving within hostile environments. Recent works have been dealing with the object as subject, giving life and tension to ceramic forms. As young nettle, a musical alias, she loves sound that totally envelopes her and is part of B.O.S.S., a QTIBIPOC sound system based in South London.Drawn to high octane sensual emotional sound, with heavy bass and wild lyrical flows, she creates sound design for original music productions. In this blog post, we will recap the key points discussed in the podcast episode and explore the thrills and challenges of Michigan deer hunting. The 10 Up 10 Down Project: Bradley introduces his new project called the "10 Up 10 Down," where he tests and reviews 10 different 150-grain broadheads from various companies. He shares his criteria for selecting the broadheads, including price, sharpness, and durability. Bradley emphasizes the importance of finding a balance between quality and affordability, as well as the ability to easily sharpen the broadheads. The Challenges of Broadhead Testing: While discussing his testing process, Bradley acknowledges the limitations of his real-world testing on live animals. He highlights the difficulty of replicating the same shot multiple times and the variability in shot placement. However, he plans to conduct a thorough analysis of each broadhead's performance through a post-hunt examination, documenting the shot placement, lethality, and other factors. The Michigan Hunting Camp Experience: Bradley expresses his excitement about joining the Michigan hunting camp and meeting fellow hunters from the Bowhunter Chronicles community. He shares his initial hesitation about spending a week in the woods with strangers but quickly realized the camaraderie and shared passion for hunting made it a memorable experience. The camp provided an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and learn from their experiences. Managing Expectations: While acknowledging that the hunting area may not be known for producing trophy-sized bucks, Bradley emphasizes the importance of managing expectations. He highlights the significance of enjoying the hunting experience and being open to the possibility of harvesting any legal deer. The camp's focus on camaraderie and shared experiences rather than trophy hunting created a supportive and inclusive environment. Unpredictable Weather and Challenging Conditions: The podcast episode also touches upon the challenges posed by unpredictable weather and its impact on deer movement.
