Episode Summary Friday's show is a proper freak buffet: Christmas rape audio, Katie Souza exposing George Costanza as a witch-mermaid operative, Indian airport fury, pedal-pumping car fetish weirdness, VRChat wedding sabotage, an old lady Liam Neeson scam beatdown, and a man turning cartoon characters into fleshlights for art. Somehow it all feels alarmingly on-brand. Episode […] The post Horny for Exhaust Pipes and Brake Pedals first appeared on Distorted View Daily.
Today our hosts talk about their favorite off-label uses for pedals: an Expression Ramper as an expression splitter, a trereo overdrive pedal as a lofi tape machine, a pedal with perfectly spaced knobs as a phone holder, etc. They take calls and some comments from the Discord, all focused around pedal usage that goes beyond the marketing and expectations of the user interface into unexpected sonic corners. Send us Fan MailYour body can be ready, and you can still get humbled by a borrowed bike, unfamiliar gears, and one tiny detail you forgot to practice. I'm Leonilla Campos, a registered dietitian and founder of Field by Leo, and I'm breaking down my sprint triathlon experience from start to finish: what went well, what surprised me, and what I would absolutely do differently next time.I share the backstory of my first triathlon seven years ago, why swimming felt like the scariest part, and how returning to the sport as a busy parent changes the whole mental game. You'll hear the real race-day stuff people skip: pre-start anxiety, counting pool laps, scrambling through transitions, and that brutal moment when you step off the bike and your legs feel like rocks. We also get into endurance nutrition and triathlon fueling from a plant-based angle. I explain why I increased carbohydrates to support training and glycogen recovery, what foods helped me feel better in workouts, and how I think about vegan protein sources like tofu and shakes while still keeping meals balanced. If you're curious about sprint triathlon training, beginner triathlon tips, bike fit basics, or building big goals toward an Olympic triathlon and an Ironman, this one will give you an honest blueprint. Subscribe, share this with a friend training for their first race, and leave a review with your biggest triathlon question. Thank you for listening. On this episode of Straturday Night, we kicked things off by diving deep into the music business, sharing real-world experiences from playing in bands, touring, and working inside the recording studio. From there, we took it straight to the workbenches. Ron got hands-on with his Charvel, installing a Lollar Pickup in the neck position—after already dropping one into the bridge on a previous show. Meanwhile, I gave one of my Stratocasters a subtle but classy upgrade, swapping the white single-coil pickup covers for parchment. And yeah… I'm officially hooked on the parchment look. Once the mods were done, it was time to plug in and play. I demoed a handful of pedals, starting with the ZVEX Instant Lo-Fi Junky, delivering those beautifully warbly, lo-fi textures—almost chorus-like, but with its own quirky vibe. Next up was my favorite fuzz of all time, the ZVEX Fuzz Factory, bringing the chaos, sustain, and raw attitude. I also spent some time getting weird—in the best way—with my BOSS PC-2 Percussion Synthesizer, and wow, this pedal is a trip. It's a seriously interesting early '80s unit that delivers a wide range of highly adjustable, synth-like percussion sounds that instantly bring to mind classic Atari video games and old-school arcade vibes. Super retro, super quirky, and unlike just about anything else on a pedalboard today. It added a totally unexpected, nostalgic twist to the jams and showed just how far ahead of its time this pedal really was.
