In this week's BikeRadar news podcast, Jack Luke is once again joined by Simon von Bromley to discuss the latest hot stories in bike tech. We kick things off with a Shimano leak that suggests the Japanese brand may be working on a set of power meter pedals for its next generation road groupsets. Next, we move on to the new Specialized Aethos 2, which has been updated to include full integrated cable routing, wider tyre clearance and a less aggressive geometry. It's also as light and expensive as ever, of course. We also discuss Tadej Pogačar's tricked-out Colnago Y1Rs from the Rwanda world championships, and speculate why the Slovenian rider switched to Continental's new Archetype tyres for this race. Finally, instead of ending with a ‘rant of the week', Simon and Jack give a rare shoutout to the UCI for its recently announced cost cap for track cycling bikes and equipment, which will be introduced ahead of the Los Angeles Olympics Games in 2028. I've spotted an unreleased Shimano pedal system – and it looks like the product we've been waiting … The Aethos 2 is the lightest production bike Specialized has ever made at 5.98kg UCI announces price caps for 2028 Olympic track bikes and equipment Tadej Pogačar's tricked-out Colnago Y1Rs for the Rwanda World Championships – new tyres, custom whe… Learn more about your ad choices. Back in 2020, we sat down with chef, cyclist, and entrepreneur Chris Cosentino to talk about food, creativity, and living life without compromise. Five years later, he returns to the show to catch us up on where life has taken him, and how he continues to reinvent himself. In this conversation, Chris opens up about the ever-changing restaurant industry, what it takes to stay authentic in the face of shifting trends, and the lessons he's learned about resilience and risk. We also dive into his love of cycling, how the bike has shaped his lifestyle, mindset, and even his professional choices. Finally, Chris reflects on the deeper work of identity: what it means to keep evolving, to embrace new passions, and to stay true to yourself through change.Whether you know Chris from the kitchen, the bike saddle, or his creative projects, this episode offers an honest and inspiring look at a life lived fully, and always without compromise.
Jack Luke is joined by Simon von Bromley and Ollie Smith to break down the biggest tech stories in cycling this week. The team dive into Garmin's new Rally power meter pedals and Edge computers, with Simon offering his take on the steeply priced pedals. Ollie shares his first impressions of the freshly launched Specialized Diverge 4, which brings bigger tyre clearance, tweaked geometry and the latest Future Shock suspension. Looking back to last week's top story on BikeRadar, Tom Marvin asked ChatGPT to design the mountain bike of the future – with results ranging from realistic to wildly fanciful. And in Rant of the Week, we argue the case for more shiny groupsets. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Potatoes, Pedals, and the Great Grocery Crackdown (Books Banned Due to Excessive Potato Worship and Unauthorized Bike Conversions) – Mono Mutante Excerpt CH 1 What happens when your novel gets accused of promoting “an unlicensed faith in root vegetables and other soil-based ideologies”? In this launch-week kickoff for Mono Mutante—a dirt-splattered eco-satire through the monoculture Midwest—we interrupt our regularly scheduled program for a War of the Worlds-style bulletin you won't forget. First up: a breaking news alert about books banned for “excessive potato worship” and suspiciously wholesome eating habits. Then, an excerpt from Mono Mutante—a dirt-splattered, laugh-out-loud road trip through the monoculture Midwest, where Camas and Tilly debate beer, steak, and the politics of food deserts… or as they decide to call them, “food f----d.” From absurd headlines to serious questions about who controls our food supply, this episode serves up equal parts comedy, conscience, and crunchy resistance.
For today's Gear Therapy episode, the team gets together to try to solve Jonathan's pedal dilemma. Like many riders out there, Jonathan is questioning his current pedal choice, and not surprisingly, he's considering ditching his clipless pedals and replacing them with flats. Sascha and Zack bring a valuable mountain bike coaching perspective to the conversation, and together with Simon's years of experience in the industry and bike shops, they look at the advantages and disadvantages of both styles of pedals and do our best to guide Jonathan's decision. They know he's not alone, and anyone in a similar pedal conundrum will benefit from tuning in.RELATED LINKS:Blister Mountain Bike Buyer's GuideGet Our Free Newsletter & Gear GiveawaysBLISTER+ Get Yourself CoveredTOPICS & TIMES:Pedal Horror Stories (1:24)Why the Hell are They Called “Clipless”? To talk about what makes this event so powerful and why it's still going strong a quarter of a century later, Derrick Lynch was joined by Sean Mc Killen, Committee member.

My guest for this week's Bitesize episode is Jarrod Walker, best known to most of you as the mandolin player in Billy Strings' band. This is a segment of a longer interview from 2022. In this section Jarrod talks about getting the gig with Billy, how it was both the most progressive and the most traditional gig he'd had, learning to play plugged in and experimenting with pedals. The full interview (link below if you're interested) covers much more, including what Chris Thile taught him about learning fiddle tunes, how he almost ended up selling instruments for a living rather than playing them and going from landscaping one day during the pandemic to playing a live streamed gig at Red Rocks the next.To connect with Jarrod and find out where you can catch a show, check out the links below:Jarrod's FacebookJarrod's InstagramBilly Strings' websiteHere's the full interview with Jarrod.Happy picking.Matt Support the show===Thanks to Bryan Sutton for his wonderful theme tune to Bluegrass Jam Along (and to Justin Moses for playing the fiddle!) Let's start episode 739 of Secrets of Organ Playing podcast. This question was sent by Tamsin Jones and she writes:My organ teacher taught me various ways to orient myself and to find notes while playing the pedals, such as finding the gaps between black keys or brushing up or down to the next note. However, my intuition is telling me that at some point I need to begin playing mainly by internalised knowledge of where the notes are; in other words, the techniques are starting to feel like training wheels that I'd need to jettison in order to play faster and more fluently. Could I please have your thoughts on this topic?During those 10000 hours you have to make decisions about what to focus on. I watch videos of concert organists and they don't seem to be playing by feel, but rather by spatial awareness. However, perhaps they're using touch in a highly efficient way that's not detectable by camera. If it's by spatial awareness, when does a player make the change and is it something that can be practised toward? If by feel, how does one increase efficiency?Hope you will enjoy the conversation between Ausra and me!Here you will find all my scores: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/category/arrangeme/?q=Secrets+of+Organ+Playing&aff_id=454957You can support this channel by becoming a member here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO4K3_6QVJI_HlI5PCFQqtg/joinIf you like what I do, you can buy me some coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/organduoPayPal: https://PayPal.Me/VPinkeviciusWe support Ukraine: https://www.blue-yellow.lt/enMy Hauptwerk setup: https://www.organduo.lt/tools.htmlTotal Organist - the most comprehensive organ training program online: https://www.organduo.lt/total-organistSecrets of Organ Playing - When You Practice, Miracles Happen! https://organduo.ltListen to my organ playing on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0ckKPIvTWucoN3CZwGodCO?si=YWy7_0HqRvaZwBcovL-RKg

Send us a textKate Turner's journey into motorsports breaks every conventional rule in the racing handbook. At 21 years old, this track instructor from Leicestershire discovered her passion for racing not as a child karting prodigy, but as a 17-year-old who simply woke up one day and decided she wanted to be a race car driver. Her refreshing candor about this unconventional path reveals that sometimes the most extraordinary journeys begin with nothing more than pure determination.Working daily with automotive royalty - Ferraris, Lamborghinis, McLarens, and her dream car, the Nissan GTR - Kate guides drivers around prestigious circuits throughout the UK. She shares riveting stories from the passenger seat, including heart-stopping moments with overconfident customers and the systematic dismissal she sometimes faces as a young woman in a male-dominated field. Her response to a particularly difficult customer on International Women's Day demonstrates both her quick thinking and her commitment to commanding respect in challenging situations.Despite competing internationally in Sweden with electric Minis, financial constraints temporarily paused Kate's racing career after 2023. Now, she's actively pursuing sponsorship for a 2026 comeback in the UK's Fun Cup endurance series while balancing plans to study neuroscience at university. Her story highlights motorsport's greatest challenge - securing financial backing - while showcasing the incredible community that makes racing unique. As Kate explains, the paddock atmosphere creates friendships that cross competitive lines and national boundaries, a camaraderie unlike any other sport. Follow Kate's journey as she manifests her return to the driver's seat, proving that in motorsport, passion and persistence can overcome even the steepest obstacles.Support the showFACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/womensmotorsportsnetworki/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/womensmotorsportsnetwork/ LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melindarussell/ TIKTOK: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melindarussell/ X: https://x.com/IWMANation FACEBOOK Personal Page: https://www.facebook.com/melinda.ann.russell
