As a victim/survivor of abuse, Erin has developed a fascination with power dynamics and how they work, along with a deep commitment to upending them at every level—especially in the world of publishing. Erin tells us about her book coaching practice and how she empowers authors to make their writing the best it can be. We discuss what the relationship looks like between coach and author and how it differs from other author service relationships. See the description of the previous episode for my explanation of why this is structured the way it is. It's a deliberate stylistic choice. Every aspect of this podcast is a result of a very considered approach. If you think something is bad then clearly you didn't understand what I was going for and you should feel bad about yourself, to be quite honest. Erin does good art! Buy it! Erin does good art! Buy it! I screwed up the recording at the start of this episode and was too embarrassed to mention it, but I think the start suits the tone of the show anyway, so I left it. I also stopped recording halfway through by accident and restarted it, but I have decided to put each half out separately, again, as a stylistic choice. The fact that it is 3:35am as I write this description is irrelevant. I have also decided to change the format and release schedule, because I have assignments to do and I have already done twenty-one of these. I doubt anybody has listened to all twenty-one. The point of doing them that frequently was building up a back catalogue. I am capable of smashing out assignments very quickly but I'm in third year and it's probably more obvious than it was. I wrote a short story about the Walter Taylor Bridge in six or seven hours the other week but afterwards I kept having better ideas. You can read it if you want, I might submit it to the QLD Young Writers Award after heavy revisions. Erin's Twitter Erin's Facebook Erin's Instagram Joel's Twitter Joel's Facebook Joel's Instagram

Erin Michelle joins the podcast this week for Terminator Genisys, a film that doesn't ever give an explanation its portmanteau title, or any of its plot, really. Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke all hide their natural accents and join Arnold Schwarzenegger to portray less iconic versions of characters you've seen in better terminator films. You can check out both Erin and Jemry in Pretty Good Lineup, 6th – 19th of April at the 2020 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, details available here.

An intro to a new podcast with Lou Mavs and Erin Michelle as your hosts.
“You're not like, you know, a REGULAR disability.” Carly Findlay fields all kinds of ridiculous comments about her appearance and her disability, ranging from the insensitive to the abusive. Some of them have taken her all the way to the Human Rights Commission. “It was a bit weird to be the top news story for a couple of days … It wasn't a good experience.” Carly lives with Ichthyosis – a rare, severe skin condition – and is an appearance activist. She is also a writer whose work has been published by the Guardian, Daily Life, ABC, Mamamia and Frankie magazine. On her award-winning blog Tune Into Radio Carly, she writes honestly about life with Ichthyosis, disability, and visible difference. Carly talks to me about her work, but also we giggle a lot about pop music from the late 90s. If 2016 has gotten you down, Carly Findlay is a delightful guest to spend an hour in conversation with. Erin Michelle Caffey was a 16 year old girl who was brought up in a loving religious home. Her mom and dad were together in the home and she had two younger brothers. It was there that she met a 19 year old boy named Charlie Wilkinson who would become her everything. But Erin had a problem in that her parents did not approve of the relationship. Erin's thoughts turned to murder when she thought that was the only way she could keep her dream of happiness alive.Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the details of this tragic case. What makes a 16 year old girl with a loving family get it in head that they must be eliminated for her to be happy? This is a case that will scare parents of children at any age. Your job as a parent is to keep your kids safe and help them flourish, but you never think that the danger will come from within. You can help support the show by going to patreon.com/truecrimeallthetimeVisit the show's website at truecrimeallthetime.com for contact and merchandise informationPlease help our sponsors:Havenly - Get expert interior design help online for as little as $79 per room. "It was a weird superpower." This is how Leah Musch describes obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) to me, but only in certain contexts. It helped her retain an astounding amount of detail as the owner of The Happy Cabin clothing store in Brisbane. It also led indirectly to serious injury. While recuperating from her injury, Leah had an epiphany that would change her relationship to fashion. She sold The Happy Cabin, and then everything changed. The host of web series The Unmaterial Girl talks to me about slow fashion, OCD guilt, and learning sustainable business methods in Brazil's 'favelas'. "If you think we're brave, ask yourself why we have to be brave." My guest this episode is Miranda Sparks - comedian, radio personality, transgender advocate, and author of the superhero web serial Shimmerverse. Miranda talks to me about growing up as a tomboy trans girl, why "show, don't tell" is problematic for a writer with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and accessibility in highbrow literature. We also talk about comic book movies, how to avoid ableist slang, and Miranda's surprising revelation of how she would handle a zombie apocalypse.
