Send us Fan MailAg Innovation Series | Ceres Tag, Livestock Technology & The Future of Beef Production with Jean Liebenberg with Jean LiebenbergIn this episode of the Ag Innovation Series, Sam Fryer sits down with cattle producer and Ceres Tag Business Development Manager Jean Liebenberg to explore what innovation actually looks like in the Australian beef industry.Drawing on his experience as both a producer and ag tech professional, Jean shares his perspective on technology adoption, livestock monitoring and the growing role of data in helping producers make better decisions on farm.Throughout the conversation, we discuss how innovation doesn't always need to be flashy. Sometimes it's about solving real problems, improving efficiency and finding practical ways to make farming operations more productive and resilient. In this episode we discuss:• Innovation through a producer's lens• Technology adoption in the beef industry• Data-driven decision making• Livestock monitoring and animal performance• The role of Ceres Tag in modern beef production• Why innovation needs to solve real problems• Return on investment versus return on effort• Collaboration, mentoring and industry networks• The future of livestock technology• What the next generation of agriculture could look likeOne of the biggest takeaways from this conversation is that innovation isn't necessarily about having the latest technology, it's about using the right tools to make better decisions and improve outcomes on farm. This episode is proudly supported by Ceres Tag.Designed specifically for extensive livestock systems, Ceres Tag is helping producers gain greater visibility into their cattle through real-time monitoring and animal performance insights. From tracking grazing behaviour and feed intake through to health monitoring and management decisions, the technology is providing producers with new ways to understand what's happening in the paddock when they can't always be there themselves. For producers operating across large and remote beef enterprises, access to better information can lead to better decisions, improved productivity and stronger business outcomes. To learn more about Ceres Tag, visit:https://cerestag.com/PandaemoniumWebsite: https://www.pandaemonium.orgInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/p.andaemonium/If you enjoyed this episodePlease share it with a friend or leave a review — it really helps these stories reach more people across rural Australia and the agriculture industry.Stay connected with A Place to Call Home:
Scientists have discovered that marine species are migrating away from the equator at a rate of 40 to 70 kilometres per decade to get to cooler waters as climate change heats up our ocean. But far from being a viable escape plan, this mass poleward relocation of marine life is opening up a sea of problems. On this week's episode of Word on the Reef, hosts Tanya Murphy and Brett Goodban are joined by James Cook University's Professor Jan Strugnell for a deep dive into climate-driven marine species redistribution on the Great Barrier Reef and beyond.Thumbnail Image: A spine-cheeked anemonefish, photographed by Tanya Murphy at Ellison Reef, near Mission Beach - 140 kilometres south of its usual range. In this episode, I talk about the pressure we put on new ideas. The pressure for them to work, to succeed, to make money, to prove themselves. And how quickly something that begins as a spark, an idea, an intuitive nudge, can become weighed down by expectations.Lately, I've been noticing this in myself, particularly as I'm navigating changes in my business and exploring what feels like the next chapter. Before I've even taken a full step forward, I can feel my mind wanting answers. Will this work? Will people buy it?Am I making the right decision? What if I get it wrong? It's fascinating how quickly we can take something that feels alive and turn it into a performance review. In this conversation, I reflect on the tension between intuition and control, and how often we crush new ideas under the weight of needing them to be successful before they've even had a chance to breathe.IN PERSON EXPERIENCES, MelbourneOne-day retreat in Balnarring - June 12th, 20261:1 COACHINGOne-time 75 minute coaching call - secure your spot hereRead my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

Steve and I talk about a phrase we come back to often:This too shall pass. Not as a way to dismiss what we're feeling or to bypass the hard stuff. But as a reminder that life is always moving, changing, shifting, and unfolding. We speak about how so much of our suffering comes from fighting reality. Arguing with what's happening. Wishing it were different. Complaining about it, resisting it, trying to control it. And how exhausting that can be.We share what helps us move from resistance into acceptance. Not liking what's happening. Not approving of it. Just accepting that it is what it is.We also talk about the tendency to fall into absolute thinking when life feels uncertain. The "always," the "never," the "nothing's going to change," the stories we tell ourselves when we're scared, overwhelmed, or trying to regain a sense of control. This conversation is about learning to be okay with the not-okayness of life. About trusting that difficult seasons don't last forever. And about remembering that sometimes the greatest relief comes not from changing your circumstances, but from accepting them.IN PERSON EXPERIENCES, MelbourneOne-day retreat in Balnarring - June 12th, 2026Sunday Meds - June 21st, 20261:1 COACHINGOne-time 75 minute coaching call - secure your spot hereRead my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

The goal is not to be 100% authentic all the time. That's unattainable. If you think that's the goal, you'll spend your life feeling like you're failing every time you people-please, shut down, react, perform, avoid conflict, seek approval, or slip back into old patterns. That's not failure. That's being human.I share about how authenticity isn't a final destination where you suddenly become fully healed, fully self-expressed, fully “you” all the time. It's noticing. It's awareness. It's catching yourself in the moments where you're not being true to yourself and getting curious instead of judgmental. Why did I just abandon myself there? Why did I shrink? Why did I say yes when I meant no?What was I trying to protect? That's the work.Becoming honest, aware, and willing to come back to yourself over and over again. This episode is a reminder that you are not failing because you still have moments where your ego, fear, conditioning, or old patterns take over. The magic is in noticing and choosing to return.IN PERSON EXPERIENCES, MelbourneOne-day retreat in Balnarring - June 12th, 2026Sunday Meds - June 21st, 20261:1 COACHINGOne-time 75 minute coaching call - secure your spot hereRead my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

In this episode, I speak about the pressure I used to put on myself to heal quicker, grow quicker, feel better quicker, and become “better” faster. I genuinely believed that if I was doing the work on myself, then surely I should be further along by now. That mindset created so much suffering. I was constantly living with this quiet pressure in the background of my life, telling myself to hurry up, get there already, figure it out, fix it, improve. I struggled to let life unfold because I was too busy trying to force myself into the next version of me.But over time, life has shown me that the most meaningful things rarely happen quickly. Trusting yourself again takes time. Building healthy relationships takes time. Changing lifelong patterns takes time. Coming home to yourself takes time.None of the things that deeply changed my life happened overnight. They happened through small decisions, small shifts, and repeated moments where I chose to stay with myself instead of giving up on myself. And eventually, I looked back and realised that things had actually changed. Not because I rushed them, but because I stayed long enough for the change to happen. This episode is for anyone who feels frustrated with how long growth, healing, or life is taking. Maybe your life is not behind. Maybe your growth is not late. Maybe you just need to stop rushing yourself and play the long game.IN PERSON EXPERIENCES, MelbourneOne-day retreat in Balnarring - June 12th, 2026Sunday Meds - June 21st, 20261:1 COACHINGOne-time 75 minute coaching call - secure your spot hereRead my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show
I recorded this in a moment where nothing big was happening.Clouds moving. Rain on the window. Wind through the trees. The dogs snoring. And me, just sitting there, actually in it.We say we want peace, we say we want to feel better but we're often anywhere but here. In our heads, in the next thing, in our phones, in the past, in the future. And then we wonder why we feel disconnected, or lonely, or unfulfilled, or empty, or feel list. This episode is that reminder. This one took a while to land. The part that tried hard not to upset anyone, to do it right, to keep the peace, to earn my place was running rampant! And how exhausting that became.Somewhere along the way, I realised trying to be liked was costing me something far too precious ... myself. This is a conversation about self-abandonment in prettier clothes. We asked a question ...“If we had 24 hours left on earth, what would we do?”A real, honest question to look at what actually matters when time is no longer on our side. Because questions like this have a way of showing you your life as it is, not the one you say you want, but the one you're actually living. What would you drop? What would you lean into?Who would you call? How would you spend your time? And maybe the better question is, what's stopping you from living a little more like that now?IN PERSON EXPERIENCES, MelbourneSunday Meds - April 26th, 2026Offline - May 3rd, 2026One-day retreat in Balnarring - June 12th, 2026ONLINE WORKThe Good Life - sign up hereAuthentic The Program - sign up here1:1 COACHINGKeen to work together? - Book a 20-minute call nowRead my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

You keep telling yourself you're not ready. Not clear enough, not confident enough, not quite there yet.But if you're honest, you already know. You know the conversation you've been avoiding. You know the decision you keep circling. You know what's not working anymore. This episode is about that space. The in-between where you sit and think, and think and think some more whilst thinking you need more time, when really you're avoiding what the next step is asking of you.It might disrupt things. It might feel uncomfortable. It might require you to show up in a way you haven't before. So instead, you stay in your head. You go back and forth. You wait for a feeling that isn't coming. In this episode I talk about the illusion of readiness, why clarity doesn't come before action, and how we keep ourselves stuck by calling avoidance “not being ready.”If you've been circling something in your life, this one will land.IN PERSON EXPERIENCES, MelbourneSunday Meds - April 26th, 2026Offline - May 3rd, 2026One-day retreat in Balnarring - June 12th, 2026ONLINE WORKThe Good Life - sign up hereAuthentic The Program - sign up here1:1 COACHINGKeen to work together? - Book a 20-minute call nowRead my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

Steve and I asked each other a simple question this week:“What are you carrying right now that I might be unaware of… and how can I support you?”When you live with someone, love them and talk to them every day there are always things they're carrying that you don't see. Or maybe you do, but you're asking the best question to help them express it. Pressure. Worry. Fatigue. Things they haven't quite found words for yet. It's easy in relationships to assume we know what's going on for the other person, or to get caught up in our own world and forget to ask. This episode is just us talking about that.Just a real conversation about remembering to look at the person you love and ask a real type of question that will give real answers. I felt ready for this chapter. I honoured the versions of me who carried me here . I stepped into this decade open, grounded, certain, and then grief quietly arrived. In this deeply personal episode, I share the unexpected emotional landscape of entering a new decade, the tenderness that comes with seeing your parents age, wondering if the children you love are ready for the world, and realising even the companions who've walked beside you for years won't be here forever.I talk about the body changing in ways you can't outwork or control. The shift in ambition. The question that begins to surface when striving softens: now what? This isn't an episode about answers or silver linings. It's an honest reflection on what happens when time stops feeling theoretical and starts feeling real. When love carries an ache. When life feels more precious and more fragile at the same time.If you've felt a quiet grief you couldn't quite name, if you're moving through transition, ageing, or a change in identity, this conversation will likely meet you right where you are.One-day retreat - April 24th, 2026Read my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAAuthentic The Program - sign up hereCoach with me 1:1 - Book a 20-minute call nowWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

Steve's turning 50. I just turned turning 40.This isn't a “new decade, new me” episode. It's more tender than that. For me, there's been grief. Grieving parts of myself from the past. Versions of me that won't be coming forward into this next chapter, and if I'm really honest, even pre-mourning what's to come.Sadness has been the emotion I've been honouring this week. I've just let it be there. For Steve, it's different. He's more aware of time, how he's spending it, how joyful his life actually feels and how he could inject more joy into whatever time he has left. We're both asking: What matters now? What needs to be let go? What needs to be chosen more intentionally? This episode is a very honest reflection of where we're at. No big answers. Just two people in transition, supporting each other, looking at time, identity, joy, and meaning a little more closely. If you're in a season of change, this will feel familiar.Read my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAAuthentic The Program - sign up hereCoach with me 1:1 - Book a 20-minute call nowThe Good Life - sign up nowOne-day retreat - April 24th, 2026Write into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

Stevie B and I talk about limbo land, that murky space so many people end up in early on in dating. The situationship. Not quite together. Not quite nothing. We talk about how any interaction between two people is a relationship, whether you label it or not. And how often one person is being clear about what they want, while the other is quietly hoping it'll turn into something more.We get into wishful thinking. Reading into moments. Convincing yourself that chemistry, closeness, or intimacy means commitment even when the words say otherwise.I share honestly about our early days and how easy it is to override what's being said because you want a different outcome. This episode is about:The cost of staying in the greyWhy clarity matters more than potentialHow self-respect gets eroded in limboAnd why honest communication is the only way outIf you've ever found yourself waiting, hoping, or trying to make something become what it isn't this one will land.Read my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAAuthentic The Program - sign up hereCoach with me 1:1 - Book a 20-minute call nowThe Good Life - sign up nowOne-day retreat - March 20th, 2026Write into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show

In this episode I share a very human, very imperfect moment I had with a traffic control guy outside my house, one of those interactions where two egos meet, both think they're right, and things go downhill fast.He was frustrated. I was frustrated. And instead of choosing kindness, clarity, or calm, went high and mighty. Righteous. Chest out. Ego leading the charge. And he did the same. Two strangers, both convinced we were justified, making each other's day crap within 30 seconds. That's the work of living authentically, catching yourself when you've acted out of alignment, owning it, and doing something about it. And as Steve and I went for our walk, I knew exactly what I needed to do: apologise. Not because I was “wrong.” Not because he “deserved it.” But because I know how I want to show up in this world and that moment wasn't it.This episode is a reminder that authenticity isn't perfection, it's repair. It's self-awareness put into action. It's choosing who you want to be, even after an ego slip.Have a listen. This episode is exactly what it sounds like. No love. No light. The other day, Steve and I were driving in the car airing our annoyances, the stuff that grinds our gears and halfway through we looked at each other and thought, why not share this? Because this is what relationships look like too. It's not always kissing and cuddling and smooching. It's not always conscious communication and being hyper-aware. Sometimes it's just getting things off your chest, laughing about it, and moving on.This one's light, funny and very human. If you're in a relationship and thought you were doing it wrong because it isn't all rosy all the time, you're not, it's just life.Read my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USACoach with me 1:1 - Book a 20-minute call nowThe Good Life - sign up nowOne-day retreat - March 20th, 2026Write into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show
In this episode, I share my reflections on my word for this year, unwavered, and how it's moved itself through me this year. Change happens in our home all the time. With the girls, with living arrangements, with things shifting, coming, going and for years, that stuff used to mess with me big time. I'd get thrown off, attached to the plan we just made that now suddenly changed again, stuck in my rigidness. But this year this was the year I let that shit go. I stopped gripping so tightly to “how it was supposed to go” and softened into what's here. It has been incredibly freeing. The second part of the episode is about coming back to what you wrote at the start of the year with what you wanted to stop, start, and keep doing and actually checking in with how you went with that intention.Let's check in together legends. We laugh a lot in today's episode, sharing what we would adjust about the other if we had a magic wand. In the many laughs, there are also some good truths to listen to, truths that we can tap into and, pardon the pun, adjust. When you listen, see if you can hear where we can consider that other a little more, respect the other a little more, communicate with the other a little more gently. We of course can choose whether or not to adjust our ways, or not, either way, the truth is there. Enjoy today's episode. We hope it brings you laughter, relatability and some home truths into your relationship. Kat & Steve. This episode is my honest answer to a listener question (thank you, Sarah from Toronto): How did you land at the decision not to have children?I've always known I wanted deep love, but I never felt that same undeniable, biological, aching pull toward having children. I assumed I'd probably have them one day but it was never a soul-deep calling for me.When I met Steve who was very clear he didn't want any more children, the question came to the front of the table. Is this something I genuinely want? Or something I think I should want? Can I be at peace with his door being closed while mine is maybe open, but not exactly active?Becoming a step-mum gave me a real, unfiltered taste of parenthood. The joy. The mess. The demands. The shifts. It didn't make the decision for me, but it did make me reflect deeply on the life I want to live and the woman I want to be.But if I'm honest, my biggest tension wasn't about biology or longing. It was guilt.Guilt about not giving my mum a grandchild because she would be the most loving Lola on this earth. The conversation I had with my mum softened everything. When I cleared that guilt with her, I finally felt free to choose the life that is true for me.This episode is for anyone navigating choice, pressure, timelines, guilt, or the quiet knowing in your gut that doesn't match what the world tells you you “should” want.Buy my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USACoach with me 1:1 - Book a 20-minute call nowThe Good Life - sign up nowWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearWelleCo - use code KAT15 for 15% off welleco.com.auwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show
Steve and I share our learnings (and laughs) from Scenic Sundays - a day once a month we set aside with no agenda, no plan, and no rush. Just faith, flow, and following what feels good.Scenic Sundays have brought us some of the greatest memories and moments in our relationship. They're the kind of days that remind you what presence actually feels like: deep chats in the car, spontaneous detours, belly laughs, and finding new places we never would've discovered if we'd stuck to a plan.We talk about:How Scenic Sundays began and what it's taught usLetting go of rigidity and trusting intuition to lead the wayThe balance between structure and spontaneityHow creating space for flow opens up new ideas and opportunitiesThis three year ritual we've committed to leans into our motto, 'adventure awaits'. You know how you want to live. You know how you want to feel in your body, in your relationship, in your life. You do know. But so often, we tell ourselves we don't. We tell ourselves we're confused, unsure, not ready. We hide behind stories that keep us stuck in the same patterns, even when something inside us is screaming for change. The gap between what we know and how we're living is often the very thing keeping us disconnected, tired, resentful, or restless.Isn't it about time you did something about calling yourself home to what you already know and taking the next real step toward living it?
