Continuing through our winter series here looking at the Firm Foundations that make up the Chirstian Faith. Tonight, Ryan and Issa Tornberg walk us through the spiritual grace of the act of worship. Thanks for listening!
This is the second message from the book of Judges around the title; "Lessons from Failure." This one teaches us that we often fall into sin because we slide back into what is familiar to us.
We are beginning the book of Judges under the title; lessons from failure.
In Week 4 of the Firm Foundations series, we arrive at the foundation beneath every foundation: Union with Christ. Christianity is not about living for Christ at a distance—it's about Christ living His life in us. This message dismantles the old-covenant mindset of a distant God who comes and goes and reveals the new-covenant reality of seamless oneness with Father, Son, and Spirit. Union is not a new doctrine or poetic language—it's covenant reality. At the cross, humanity was included in Christ's death, burial, resurrection, and now His life. You were co-crucified, co-buried, co-raised, and co-seated with Him. Belief doesn't create this union; it awakens us to what was already accomplished. This episode explores how union answers the deepest questions of the human heart—Do I belong? Am I accepted? Am I secure?—and boldly declares that separation from God is no longer possible in Christ. God is not occasionally nearby; He is permanently present. Discover how union is the foundation of salvation, justification, sanctification, and transformation from the inside out—and why the gospel begins not with us accepting Jesus into our lives, but with realizing that we have been accepted into His life.
In this final message from the book of Joshua we discover that success means finishing well. And finishing well concerns three things; stewardship, commitment, and legacy.
Firm Foundations Pt 2 - Proverbs 3 - Cameron Stefferson
Continuing this week in our series Firm Foundations where we explore different spiritual disciplines we can partake in as Christians. This week our Outreach Coordinator Nicholas DuVernay shares on the discipline of Evangelism and sharing our faith to others. Thanks for listening!
In Week 3 of the Firm Foundations series, we ask a critical question: What keeps a believer standing when life presses in? It's possible to believe Christ is the foundation and still live unstable. It's possible to believe the work is finished and still feel pressured. In this episode, we discover what truly stabilizes the believer: being rooted in love and established in grace. Drawing from Colossians 2, Ephesians 3, Hebrews 13, and the prophetic promises of Isaiah, this teaching reveals that grace is not just how we begin our walk with Christ—it is how we stand, endure, and thrive. You'll learn why: -Roots matter more than appearances -Stability is not circumstantial but relational -Grace settles the heart where rules never can -Love is the soil where faith and endurance grow If your faith feels fragile, your heart feels tired, or your confidence feels shaken, this message is an invitation to let God settle your heart and establish you firmly in His grace.
In this message, Joshua and Caleb are old. But God still has a job for each of them to do.
Firm Foundations Part 1 - Psalm 127 - Cameron Stefferson
Following last week's message by Ps Andy (Rise up and Build), this week Ps Steu starts to lay detail by looking at the nature of our foundations - individually and as a whole church. Everything God builds is spectacular, strong and stands through the storms. We all have storms in our lives at times, but everything God builds has strong foundations to last for ever. Ps Steu explains how foundations need to be adequate for the shape of the building, the reach of the building, or the size of the building also, the height and longevity of the building. This is true in physical terms and also in spiritual terms for what God is to accomplish in our lives. If we are to build something significant, it starts with a strong foundation. As we step into the next season for Family Church, God is asking us to make sure the foundation is right for what He wants to do next. God wants our next to be significant, so it's important to take time to make sure the foundations are good - no shortcuts. In Matthew 16:18, He said to Peter who had an amazing revelation of who Jesus is - "I also say to you that you're Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail". Ps Steu continues to unpack revelation between the physical and spiritual, and asks key questions...What foundations need to be laid in our lives to correctly prepare for what God wants to buildIf we have ideas of what God wants to build in our lives, what foundations need to be laid in order to correctly prepare here Are our foundations going deep enough, are we aware that its possible that foundations laid so far are not deep enough, so more time is required to correct this When we do rise to a great height and God uses us in glorious ways, this has to be a sustainable position for the future....to reach out further, we must ensure foundations are deep enough We are all living stones in the work God is doing in the church. He is building every one of us. We all have a part to play in the building of God's house, to be filled with His presence, His Glory and Splendour.
Joshua was tested in his faith in God. Did he believe that God knows everything and so should be consulted on everything? Did he believe God can do everything, so asks God for the impossible?
As we step into a new year, many are asking the same question: Who—or what—can I really count on? In this opening message of the Firm Foundations series, we're reminded that storms don't test our intentions—they reveal our foundations. Using the powerful illustration of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, this sermon exposes the danger of building on unstable ground and invites us to stop striving harder and start building wiser. God's answer to instability isn't more effort—it's a stronger foundation. Scripture declares that Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone, tested, precious, and unshakable. When life applies pressure, alignment matters more than activity. This message calls us not to rebuild our lives in fear or shame, but to realign them in trust. If you're entering this year hopeful yet cautious, weary yet faithful, this word will anchor your heart in the only foundation that produces rest instead of rush.
This message continues our study of the book of Joshua and tests during times of success. It covers the stories of Rahab, Achan, and Ai.
This second message in Joshua covers tests 3 and 4 during seasons of success.
We are leaving the "Lessons from the Wilderness" today to enter a series of messages about entering the Promised land called; "Tests of Success."
Original airdate 8/12/25: Mary welcomes new guest Elizabeth Urbanowicz, a follower of Jesus Christ who is passionate about equipping kids to understand the truth of the Christian worldview. Elizabeth began her professional career as an elementary teacher in a Christian school. Several years into her teaching experience, she realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. She began searching for curricular materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. After not finding any materials that met this need, she began creating a curriculum for her students. Today we look at how to move our kids forward, and pursue excellence in everything, at a time when the culture keeps going backwards everywhere we look. Counteracting a worldly worldview is a full time job. How can families and churches proactively keep their youth engaged with truth? What will it take, consistently and purposefully? A full hour with Elizabeth as we seek to begin to guard our hearts with all diligence and raise children to be confident, passionate lovers of truth. When our faith takes a beating and we hit rock bottom, it's tempting to give up and walk away from God altogether. To survive a crisis of belief, we need unshakeable foundations that will hold us up when everything around us is falling apart.
In week two of Firm Foundations, Dr. Scott McKee explores Jesus' bold declaration: “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Drawing from Matthew 16, Pastor Scott reminds us that the Church isn't a human invention—it's Jesus' idea, his body, and his plan for redeeming the world. In a culture that often dismisses or doubts the Church, we're called to remember who the Church belongs to, who builds it, and how powerful it truly is. Ward Church, like every local church, has been invited into this redemptive mission—to push back darkness, embody radical grace, and reflect Christ's love to the world. Jesus is still building his Church. Let's be part of it.
On Mother's Day, Dr. Scott McKee launches the new Firm Foundations series with a message centered on grace—God's unmerited favor that meets us not in our strength, but in our weakness. Drawing from the Apostle Paul's thorn-in-the-flesh story in 2 Corinthians 12, Pastor Scott reminds us that grace isn't just a promise of heaven, but a present, sustaining power in our everyday struggles. Through personal testimony, biblical reflection, and a moving parable, we're invited to embrace our thorns as unlikely gifts that lead us deeper into God's transforming grace. Grace doesn't just change our eternity—it changes everything.
