In this message we consider the sacrifices in the ceremonial law of Israel and how they are fulfilled in Christ.
In this message, Ryan Wallace starts us off with a new series Firm Foundations by diving into one of the five Solas of the Reformation: Sola Scriptura: Scripture Alone.Discover why the Bible is not just helpful, but completely sufficient to equip the believer. Learn how Jesus, the apostles, and church history uphold the Bible as the ultimate authority; above tradition, human opinion, and even supernatural claims. This teaching is a reminder to test all things by God's Word and to stand firm on the unchanging truth of Scripture.Join our family every Sunday at 09:30 AM at Voortrekker High School as we gather to worship, grow, and experience the presence of God together.
In this third message about the Mosaic law we continue to ask the question, "How much of the Old Testament law is the Christian supposed to follow?" We've divided the Old Testament law into three categories; civil, ceremonial, and moral. And this is our final sermon looking at the civil law.
Join Raheel Ahmad for Thurssday's show from 4-6pm where we will be discussing: ‘Burqa Ban: UK Politics' unhealthy obsession with it' and ‘Firm foundations: how upbringing shapes destiny'. Burqa Ban: UK Politics' unhealthy obsession with it In a country that values free expression and religious tolerance, why does a piece of clothing spark such controversy? Is this really about security, or something deeper? Can banning clothing be called liberation, or is it a distraction from broader social issues? We explore why British politics remains fixated on outlawing the burqa. Why does this debate resurface during elections and media storms? Firm foundations: how upbringing shapes destiny It is often said that our actions shape our destiny, but how deeply do they influence the destinies of others? In this thought-provoking show, we journey back to our firm foundation, childhood and family. Through the lens of Islamic teachings on motherhood and moral development, we explore how early upbringing shapes individuals and, in turn, entire societies. Guests: Tahira Amini - is a student at Aisha Academy UK, with a BSC in Philosophy, Politics and Economics Mufleha Saleem - Specialising in Psychology, she is a Teacher of science and also a Moral Training Secretary for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Dania Butt - is a working qualified Early Years Practitioner with over 6 years of experience in childcare. We are continuing to search for the answer to the question, "What part of the Old Testament does the Christian have to follow?" We've divided Old Testament Law into Civil, Ceremonial, and Moral laws. This is our second message about the Civil law. And what we discover about the Old Testament Civil law is that there is a principle behind the law that still applies to us. But the application of the principle, described in the law, was for Israel, at a specific time and place; the Old Testament era.
In this enlightening exploration of faith, we're invited to delve deeper into the true meaning of seeking God. The central message revolves around Jesus' teaching from Matthew 7:24-27 about building our lives on a solid foundation. We're challenged to move beyond superficial faith and truly pursue a relationship with God. The speaker cleverly uses the analogy of a hide-and-seek game to illustrate how God desires us to actively seek Him, not just passively wait. This ties beautifully into the '168-hour rule', prompting us to examine how we allocate our time and prioritize our spiritual growth. The message emphasizes that God is always present, like the hidden $20 bill, but we often miss Him because we're not truly looking. This serves as a powerful call to action for us to intentionally carve out time for prayer, Bible study, and deepening our relationship with God.--------------We are growing the Kingdom of God through the lives of everyday people by reaching UP to God, IN to Grow, and OUT to GiveJoin us on Sundays at 8:30 in person and 10:30 in person and online!FBC Nokomis Youtube: www.youtube.com/@FirstBaptistChurchofNokomisFBC Nokomis Facebook: www.facebook.com/firstbaptistnokomisFBC Nokomis Sermon Podcast: https://fbcnokomissermons.buzzsprout.com/shareSupport the show
After the Passover, the Children of Israel left Egypt, and eventually ended up at Mount Sinai. There God gave them the law; not just the 10 commandments, but hundreds of laws to govern their civil, moral, and ceremonial life. But what is a Christian supposed to do with all these laws?
This message concludes our look at the ten plagues of Egypt, and our look at the Passover and the Lord's table.
In this episode we look at the Passover plague and celebration and consider the parallels between it and the Last Supper with Jesus and His disciples.
When our faith takes a beating and we hit rock bottom, it's tempting to give up and walk away from God altogether. To survive a crisis of belief, we need unshakeable foundations that will hold us up when everything around us is falling apart.
This message covers the 9th plague of darkness against Egypt, and begins the meaning rich 10th plague: the death of the first born. The 10th plague is the foundation for the Passover celebration, and is later filled with meaning by our Lord Jesus Christ at the Last Supper.
The 10 plagues God sent to Egypt were examples of how God uses suffering to accomplish His purposes.
In week two of Firm Foundations, Dr. Scott McKee explores Jesus' bold declaration: “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Drawing from Matthew 16, Pastor Scott reminds us that the Church isn't a human invention—it's Jesus' idea, his body, and his plan for redeeming the world. In a culture that often dismisses or doubts the Church, we're called to remember who the Church belongs to, who builds it, and how powerful it truly is. Ward Church, like every local church, has been invited into this redemptive mission—to push back darkness, embody radical grace, and reflect Christ's love to the world. Jesus is still building his Church. Let's be part of it.
In this message we continue the message that God brings suffering in this world to teach us. Each of the ten plagues against Egypt taught a different lesson to Pharaoh, Egypt, and even the children of Israel.
Pastor Neli reminds us of Jesus' Great Commission from Matthew 28 and Mark 16 - to go, make disciples, baptise, and teach. We have a clear call to believe, follow, and share the good news. Be encouraged to walk in faith, embrace your calling, and live out your purpose with confidence. Whether you're new to the journey or growing in your walk, remember that God is with you every step of the way, empowering you to love people and honour Him. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
On Mother's Day, Dr. Scott McKee launches the new Firm Foundations series with a message centered on grace—God's unmerited favor that meets us not in our strength, but in our weakness. Drawing from the Apostle Paul's thorn-in-the-flesh story in 2 Corinthians 12, Pastor Scott reminds us that grace isn't just a promise of heaven, but a present, sustaining power in our everyday struggles. Through personal testimony, biblical reflection, and a moving parable, we're invited to embrace our thorns as unlikely gifts that lead us deeper into God's transforming grace. Grace doesn't just change our eternity—it changes everything.
This week Pastor Tina highlights the mystery of Christ revealed to His people, and the hope of glory found in Him. Faith has always been central to a life that pleases God. We can trust in God's promises, even when we can't yet see the outcome. Be encouraged to anchor your hope in the unseen promises of God. Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. - Hebrews 11:1-3 (ESV)
In this part of the story of Moses we are confronted with the question of suffering. God will bring 10 plagues against Egypt that will not only affect the Pharaoh and the Egyptians, but also the Israelites. So why does God bring suffering?
When Jesus told the story of the two types of builder, and said that the wise man builds on rock (Matthew 7:24-27), He was setting the scene for His promise that He would build His House (the church) on Rock (Matthew 16:18) - a solid, secure and unshakeable foundation. So what does that mean for us in practical terms today? How is the church to be built? What are the essential foundations? And how can we play our part in what's being built?…
This week Pastor Neli dives into the heart of biblical prosperity and generosity, exploring how God is our ultimate provider. Wealth isn't something we earn on our own - it's a gift from God, meant to be stewarded well. We're called to live with open hands, sowing generously and trusting that God, who supplies every seed, will also provide the harvest. Be encouraged to walk boldly in God's provision, living a life marked by gratitude and generosity. The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (ESV)
This is the second part of the sermon; Hearing and Avoiding the call of God. Moses heard God's call to return to Egypt and deliver the Children of Israel from their slavery, But he made five excuses as to why God shouldn't have him do it.
Graham launches our latest series, "Firm Foundations". A series looking to explore how we tangibly express our vision and values, as we embark on a new season at Trinity. This week we look at our vision statement.
In this second sermon over the life of Moses, we find Moses being called by God to lead the children of Israel out of Egyptian bondage. But Moses offers 5 excuses to God as to why he is not the man for the job.
This week, Pastor Neli helps us to remember that God calls us to be set apart, living differently from the world by His grace and strength. Be encouraged to live lives that reflect Jesus, standing firm in our faith even when challenges arise. Our identity is rooted in Christ, and through Him, we have the power to live in holiness, not by our efforts but by relying on His Spirit. Let's hold onto the truth that we are chosen, loved, and empowered to make a difference wherever we are, shining His light through the way we live. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. - Acts 2:39-41 (ESV)
In our special Resurrection Sunday message, Pastor Neli reflects on the significance of Easter, focusing on the period between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. Although Jesus had been crucified and placed in a tomb, God was still at work behind the scenes. We can find comfort in the idea that waiting seasons are not wasted, as God often works in the unseen and unknown. This is a reminder of God's presence even when He seems silent. Resurrection is always on the way. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.- 1 Corinthians 15:16-19 (ESV)
This week Pastor Neli reminds us that your private devotion to God is powerful. Jesus teaches us that when we give, pray, and fast in secret, our Father who sees in secret will reward us openly. Your unseen disciplines—your quiet prayers, your unseen acts of love, your intentional times of worship—are building a firm foundation that cannot be shaken. Let His grace strengthen you as you walk in faith, stay connected in community, and live out your calling. “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. - Matthew 6:5-6 (ESV)
As we begin the book of Exodus in our Firm Foundations series, we discover that God keeps His Word.
"The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" -Chicken Little I'm sure she was a very sweet hen. If you're familiar with the original story of Chicken Little (rather than the Disney movie version), you might remember that her real name was Henny Penny. I'd guess she was sincere, cared about her neighbors, took initiative, and was well-respected. But she also tended to make assumptions, jump to conclusions, and share information without verifying its accuracy. Which, if you know how the story ends, cost her - and her feathered friends - quite dearly. We are in week 8 of our series Hope for Today // Faith for Tomorrow. As we come to the second chapter of 2 Thessalonians, we find the young believers in the same sort of tailspin as Chicken Little's barnyard community. They've been fed misinformation and lies that have left them confused about what they thought they knew, and it's costing them their peace and hope. This week Pastor Neli reminds us discipleship isn't just about knowledge—it's about relationship, obedience, and legacy. Jesus calls us not only to follow Him, but to walk with others, serve humbly, and lead by example, just as He did. Whether you're engaging your community, growing in your faith, or equipping others, He who holds all authority is with you every step of the way. Let your life be built on the firm foundation of knowing Him, and trust that as you disciple others, you're part of a generational ripple that carries the heart of God into the world. But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Matthew 20:25-28 (ESV)
This week Pastor Neli lets the Word of God be your anchor and guide. It is God-breathed, equipping us for every good work. As you go about your days, remember that the Bible is more than words on a page; it is a living, transformative force that reveals God's heart and His purpose for you. Lean into it, meditate on it, and let it shape your thoughts, decisions, and actions. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 16-17 (ESV)
This week Pastor Neli focuses on living a transformed life through the Holy Spirit. Be encouraged to renew your minds, embrace your God-given gifts, and walk in unity as the body of Christ. The Holy Spirit empowers you to live with purpose, humility, and love, using your unique gifts to serve others. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. - Romans 12:4-8 (ESV)
This week Pastor Neli reminds us that repentance isn't about shame—it's about grace. Just as the prodigal son turned back to his father, we are invited to turn from sin and walk toward God, who runs to embrace us. Baptism symbolises this transformation, burying the old self and rising in new life with Christ. No matter where we've been, God's grace gives us a fresh start. Let us embrace the journey of walking with Him, knowing He never leaves you and His love never runs out. What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. - Romans 6:1-4 (ESV)

To learn more about The Heights Church, you can go to TheHeightsDenver.com Everyone wants to live a life that flourishes but few know the pathway into that kind of life. Most people are living in spiritual, financial, relational and emotional ruin. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us a vision for how we were made to live and serves as our guide on the pathway back to flourishing. As we walk the path with Jesus this Fall, we are going to find that the way into flourishing is different than most people think. In fact, in many ways it is the exact opposite of what we are told in our cultural moment. Jonathan Pennington describes it this way, “The Sermon's answer to the human-flourishing question is that true human flourishing is only available through communion with the Father God through his revealed Son, Jesus, as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. This flourishing is only experienced through faithful, heart-deep, whole-person discipleship, following Jesus' teachings and life, which situate the disciple into God's community or kingdom.” D.A. Carson calls the Sermon on the mount “Jesus' confrontation with the world.” Each week we will look at a broken vision of flourishing and compare it with Jesus' vision in the Sermon. We will use Jesus' mnemonic device “You have heard that it was said, but I say to you” in order to compare and contrast the world's vision of flourishing with Jesus' vision of flourishing.
