In this second message over the moral law, we are looking at the honor laws and truth laws of the Old Testament.
In this sermon we look at the moral law as part of the Mosaic law. The moral law is permanent in human history.
In this message we look at the final two categories of Old Testament purity laws and how they are fulfilled in Christ.
In this message we look at the purity laws regarding skin diseases and bodily discharges and see how even they are fulfilled in purpose in Christ.
We continue with our study of the purpose behind the Mosaic law, this time looking at the purity laws regarding diet, and touching dead bodies.
Passage: Matthew 7:13-27 Like any good preacher, Jesus brings his teaching in the Sermon on the Mount to a close with a challenging call to discernment and decision. Having laid out the true character and nature of kingdom living in contrast to the outward display of religion that is often mistaken as righteousness, Jesus makes his point to his disciples by contrasting two gates that lead to different paths, two trees that bear different fruit, and two foundations that are of different stability. He warns his followers not to be deceived into taking the easy path, picking the bad fruit, or building on an unstable foundation, all of which are pictures of missing out on the true life Jesus came to bring, life with him in his kingdom. Join us Sunday as we wrap up our message in the Sermon on the Mount and consider the narrow gate, the good tree, and the firm foundation that is the Lord Jesus himself.
Mary welcomes new guest Elizabeth Urbanowicz, a follower of Jesus Christ who is passionate about equipping kids to understand the truth of the Christian worldview. Elizabeth began her professional career as an elementary teacher in a Christian school. Several years into her teaching experience, she realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. She began searching for curricular materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. After not finding any materials that met this need, she began creating a curriculum for her students. Today we look at how to move our kids forward, and pursue excellence in everything, at a time when the culture keeps going backwards everywhere we look. Counteracting a worldly worldview is a full time job. How can families and churches proactively keep their youth engaged with truth? What will it take, consistently and purposefully? A full hour with Elizabeth as we seek to begin to guard our hearts with all diligence and raise children to be confident, passionate lovers of truth. This message is the second half of a message about the seven feast days of the Old Testament, and how they are fulfilled in Christ.
The law that God gave Moses was comprised of three types of law; Civil, ceremonial, and moral laws. And all of them were completed and fulfilled in Christ. In this message we are looking at the Sabbath laws.
Firm Foundations is a social enterprise that began earlier this year, aimed at unlocking underutilised land to build affordable housing. CEO of Firm Foundations, Rebecca McDonald, told Gary Hardgrave on 4BC Drive, "little bits of empty land that have just been kind of forgotten and unused... they're sitting in every suburb." "We need to rethink housing and bring in different options. We have hundreds of thousands of spare rooms in this country. We've got pensioners with spare rooms that they would love to rent out to help support themselves on a week-to-week basis. But they can't." McDonald continued.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this third message about the Mosaic law we continue to ask the question, "How much of the Old Testament law is the Christian supposed to follow?" We've divided the Old Testament law into three categories; civil, ceremonial, and moral. And this is our final sermon looking at the civil law.
We are continuing to search for the answer to the question, "What part of the Old Testament does the Christian have to follow?" We've divided Old Testament Law into Civil, Ceremonial, and Moral laws. This is our second message about the Civil law. And what we discover about the Old Testament Civil law is that there is a principle behind the law that still applies to us. But the application of the principle, described in the law, was for Israel, at a specific time and place; the Old Testament era.
Join Raheel Ahmad for Thurssday's show from 4-6pm where we will be discussing: ‘Burqa Ban: UK Politics' unhealthy obsession with it' and ‘Firm foundations: how upbringing shapes destiny'. Burqa Ban: UK Politics' unhealthy obsession with it In a country that values free expression and religious tolerance, why does a piece of clothing spark such controversy? Is this really about security, or something deeper? Can banning clothing be called liberation, or is it a distraction from broader social issues? We explore why British politics remains fixated on outlawing the burqa. Why does this debate resurface during elections and media storms? Firm foundations: how upbringing shapes destiny It is often said that our actions shape our destiny, but how deeply do they influence the destinies of others? In this thought-provoking show, we journey back to our firm foundation, childhood and family. In this enlightening exploration of faith, we're invited to delve deeper into the true meaning of seeking God. The central message revolves around Jesus' teaching from Matthew 7:24-27 about building our lives on a solid foundation. We're challenged to move beyond superficial faith and truly pursue a relationship with God. The speaker cleverly uses the analogy of a hide-and-seek game to illustrate how God desires us to actively seek Him, not just passively wait. This ties beautifully into the '168-hour rule', prompting us to examine how we allocate our time and prioritize our spiritual growth. The message emphasizes that God is always present, like the hidden $20 bill, but we often miss Him because we're not truly looking. This serves as a powerful call to action for us to intentionally carve out time for prayer, Bible study, and deepening our relationship with God.--------------We are growing the Kingdom of God through the lives of everyday people by reaching UP to God, IN to Grow, and OUT to GiveJoin us on Sundays at 8:30 in person and 10:30 in person and online!FBC Nokomis Youtube: www.youtube.com/@FirstBaptistChurchofNokomisFBC Nokomis Facebook: www.facebook.com/firstbaptistnokomisFBC Nokomis Sermon Podcast: https://fbcnokomissermons.buzzsprout.com/shareSupport the show
After the Passover, the Children of Israel left Egypt, and eventually ended up at Mount Sinai. There God gave them the law; not just the 10 commandments, but hundreds of laws to govern their civil, moral, and ceremonial life. But what is a Christian supposed to do with all these laws?
This is a sermon preached by Tim Porter at Outward Church Silverton.
This message concludes our look at the ten plagues of Egypt, and our look at the Passover and the Lord's table.
In this episode we look at the Passover plague and celebration and consider the parallels between it and the Last Supper with Jesus and His disciples.
When our faith takes a beating and we hit rock bottom, it's tempting to give up and walk away from God altogether. To survive a crisis of belief, we need unshakeable foundations that will hold us up when everything around us is falling apart.
This message covers the 9th plague of darkness against Egypt, and begins the meaning rich 10th plague: the death of the first born. The 10th plague is the foundation for the Passover celebration, and is later filled with meaning by our Lord Jesus Christ at the Last Supper.
The 10 plagues God sent to Egypt were examples of how God uses suffering to accomplish His purposes.
In week two of Firm Foundations, Dr. Scott McKee explores Jesus' bold declaration: “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Drawing from Matthew 16, Pastor Scott reminds us that the Church isn't a human invention—it's Jesus' idea, his body, and his plan for redeeming the world. In a culture that often dismisses or doubts the Church, we're called to remember who the Church belongs to, who builds it, and how powerful it truly is. Ward Church, like every local church, has been invited into this redemptive mission—to push back darkness, embody radical grace, and reflect Christ's love to the world. Jesus is still building his Church. Let's be part of it.
In this message we continue the message that God brings suffering in this world to teach us. Each of the ten plagues against Egypt taught a different lesson to Pharaoh, Egypt, and even the children of Israel.
Pastor Neli reminds us of Jesus' Great Commission from Matthew 28 and Mark 16 - to go, make disciples, baptise, and teach. We have a clear call to believe, follow, and share the good news. Be encouraged to walk in faith, embrace your calling, and live out your purpose with confidence. Whether you're new to the journey or growing in your walk, remember that God is with you every step of the way, empowering you to love people and honour Him. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
On Mother's Day, Dr. Scott McKee launches the new Firm Foundations series with a message centered on grace—God's unmerited favor that meets us not in our strength, but in our weakness. Drawing from the Apostle Paul's thorn-in-the-flesh story in 2 Corinthians 12, Pastor Scott reminds us that grace isn't just a promise of heaven, but a present, sustaining power in our everyday struggles. Through personal testimony, biblical reflection, and a moving parable, we're invited to embrace our thorns as unlikely gifts that lead us deeper into God's transforming grace. Grace doesn't just change our eternity—it changes everything.
"The sky is falling! The sky is falling!" -Chicken Little I'm sure she was a very sweet hen. If you're familiar with the original story of Chicken Little (rather than the Disney movie version), you might remember that her real name was Henny Penny. I'd guess she was sincere, cared about her neighbors, took initiative, and was well-respected. But she also tended to make assumptions, jump to conclusions, and share information without verifying its accuracy. Which, if you know how the story ends, cost her - and her feathered friends - quite dearly. We are in week 8 of our series Hope for Today // Faith for Tomorrow. As we come to the second chapter of 2 Thessalonians, we find the young believers in the same sort of tailspin as Chicken Little's barnyard community. They've been fed misinformation and lies that have left them confused about what they thought they knew, and it's costing them their peace and hope. This teaching was recorded from the gathering of The Heights Church in Denver, CO. To learn more about The Heights Church, you can go to TheHeightsDenver.com Everyone wants to live a life that flourishes but few know the pathway into that kind of life. Most people are living in spiritual, financial, relational and emotional ruin. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us a vision for how we were made to live and serves as our guide on the pathway back to flourishing. As we walk the path with Jesus this Fall, we are going to find that the way into flourishing is different than most people think. In fact, in many ways it is the exact opposite of what we are told in our cultural moment. Jonathan Pennington describes it this way, “The Sermon's answer to the human-flourishing question is that true human flourishing is only available through communion with the Father God through his revealed Son, Jesus, as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. This flourishing is only experienced through faithful, heart-deep, whole-person discipleship, following Jesus' teachings and life, which situate the disciple into God's community or kingdom.” D.A. Carson calls the Sermon on the mount “Jesus' confrontation with the world.” Each week we will look at a broken vision of flourishing and compare it with Jesus' vision in the Sermon. We will use Jesus' mnemonic device “You have heard that it was said, but I say to you” in order to compare and contrast the world's vision of flourishing with Jesus' vision of flourishing.
