    Ivy Insights

The Stand Up For The Truth Podcast is an exceptional podcast that provides a biblical perspective on current events and encourages listeners to deepen their understanding of the Bible. As a busy mom, this podcast has been a lifeline for me to stay grounded in my faith and navigate the challenges of the world we live in. I appreciate the dedication and hard work that David Fiorazo and Mary Danielson put into creating each episode. Their commitment to spreading truth is evident, and I am grateful for their insights and the guests they bring on the show.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to provide a biblical perspective on current events. David and Mary tackle important issues with clarity and wisdom, always pointing back to Scripture as their guide. This helps me to understand how my faith intersects with what is happening in the world, and it equips me to have meaningful conversations with others about these topics.

Another great aspect of this podcast is the diverse range of guests they bring on. Whether it's theologians, pastors, or cultural commentators, each guest brings a unique perspective that adds depth and richness to the discussions. It's refreshing to hear from different voices within Christianity who are all committed to upholding biblical truth.

If there was one aspect that could be improved upon, it would be diversifying the topics covered in each episode. While I appreciate their focus on current events, sometimes it feels like they circle back to the same few subjects repeatedly. It would be beneficial to explore a wider range of topics within the context of biblical truth.

In conclusion, The Stand Up For The Truth Podcast is an invaluable resource for anyone seeking a biblical perspective on current events. David Fiorazo and Mary Danielson are dedicated hosts who provide insightful commentary and bring on thought-provoking guests. This podcast has strengthened my faith, deepened my understanding of Scripture, and given me tools to engage with the world around me from a biblical worldview. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking truth and encouragement in their walk with Christ.

Mary welcomes back Kyle Peart and Flynn Huseby of Once Lost Ministries to take an overview approach to the book of Hebrews. Jesus clearly had no respect for the religious leaders of His day as He takes on the pharisees in Matthew 23, exposing their hypocrisy and legalism for all time. His very ministry was the polar opposite of the religious systems’ approach to coming to God through another mediator, one that usurps His ministry of grace alone, through faith alone, through HIM alone.  That message still being lost on subsequent religions large and small, we continue to fight the good fight of rightly dividing the Word and exchanging our filthy rags of works for His righteousness. We talk about that very thing that shines so brightly about this book of the Bible, the themes and what we can glean for our own lives. Flynn’s thorough article, “The Book of Hebrews Vs. the Roman Catholic Church” can be found here. Mary welcomes Dr. and Pastor Michael Spaulding of Calvary Chapel Lima, Ohio to discuss his new book, “Replacement Theology: It’s Root, Fruit and Consequences for Jewish People and the Nation of Israel”. This is a definitive text and in-depth work on the genesis and results of claiming the church has replaced Israel in the realm of the promises of God. Those in the media today who say that that nation is not legitimate and the Jews are fake Jews still manage to blame the Jews that they claim don’t exist for everything wrong in the world, a standard they would never hold other nations to. We talk about the unbiblical assumptions of Replacement Theology, the mystery of the church, and the damage done to Bible prophecy in total when RT is embraced. Why don’t RT adherents love what God loves, ie, Israel? Why does Reform Theology especially teach this, and what is the Catholic/Augustinian connection? A thoughtful hour with someone who has truly thought this through.     Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

Another headline cycle gets us deeper into a kind of darkness that is truly astonishing. The world is reeling from the effects of the Mideast war that morphs from day to day and is dividing our nation. Why? Is it because the party that gave so much money to Iran doesn’t want the party trying to fix it to win? It’s complex, and we don’t know how it’s going to end. God knows. We also look at a goodly list of all the ways the signs are converging, so when taken as a whole picture, imperfect as it is for now, we can conclude things are never going back to some other world. How long, O Lord? If you took communion last weekend, you know how important it is to commemorate what He did; but it also ties us to what He will be doing when He comes. Proclaiming the Master’s death – TILL HE COMES. News cycles come and go but His Word remains.

Dr. JB Hixson Mary welcomes back JB Hixson to explore the topic of the attributes of God and how the knowledge of the One we worship gives us stability, wisdom, and an understanding of Whom we worship. The church often misrepresents God, and yet how can that be with all the revealed knowledge available to us in the Scriptures? And yet even knowing that He is perfect in all His ways, just, righteous and unchanging, we still find ways to lean on our own understanding in so many of OUR ways. In fact, the more we understand His nature, the more we fall on our knees in gratitude that He has provided a way to be reconciled to Him, despite the fact that we are fallen and completely opposite of Him in our natural selves. In fact, the more we know Him the more this verse becomes astonishing: “…His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (1Peter 1:4). We say it a lot, but we serve a mighty God and we have a mighty bright future.       Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

Dave Wager: Before the Judas Moment, Listening to God While There's Time

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 6, 2026 56:28

Today, on Stand Up For The Truth, host Dave Wager teaches from the account of Judas betraying Jesus, using it as a mirror for our own hearts. He walks through Matthew 26 and challenges the assumption that Judas was uniquely flawed, asking whether we fall into the same trap, expecting life and even God to revolve around us. Dave emphasizes that everything begins with God, not us, and that our role is not to be needed, but to recognize the privilege of being wanted and included in His plan. He draws a clear line between living for self, comfort, or money, and living in alignment with God's purposes, warning that misplaced expectations can quietly lead to compromise, just as they did with Judas. He then connects Judas' betrayal to a broader warning about sin and misplaced trust, especially in money and personal gain. Using everyday illustrations, including his own struggle with donuts, Dave explains how sin promises satisfaction but leaves regret, often too late to undo the consequences. He stresses that obedience to God is the true expression of love for Him, and that ignoring God's direction leads to eventual remorse. The message closes with a sober reminder: we will all stand before God honestly, without spin, and the choices we make now matter. The call is simple and direct, know God, listen to Him, and walk in obedience today, before there is a “Judas moment” you can't take back.

Good Friday: Kings, Pawns, and Power Struggles

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 3, 2026 55:53

On this Good Friday 2026, Mary takes a look at the reality of authority in this life, and in the one to come.  Whether we realize it or not, authority is part of every day for every human. Parents, teachers, employers, politicians, authority in the home, and possibly even over how we will die, at least in Peter’s case and the case of the martyrs. We start at the beginning, when the authorities of the day had issues with the authority that Jesus claimed. Nothing gets hard core religious leaders in knots than to be usurping their hard-won, ego-driven authority over people, and Jesus put them in their place. Today, we struggle daily with political authority: who has it, who wants it, and who abuses it and abuses others over it. Why does the left hate Christians so much? It’s really very simple – because we follow after and obey a higher authority and that is what propels them to try and control everyone. Those who said they would not follow the Cov narrative were persecuted in a manner that told the tale though they denied it. And in the home, how does that play out best to show the example of Christ loving the church? It’s really not complicated at all. Communism, Islam, Nazism, climate change, No Kings – you name it – it all comes down to authority. And everyone will choose; every knee shall bow, every tongue confess. God created it, He used it for His purposes, and mankind has found many ways to discover its various functions. We talk about the current economic situation, which can change overnight especially when there is a significant war going on in a pivotal place in the world such as the Middle East. On any given day, we might rather say, “he who has the oil makes the rules”, especially when things pinch at the gas pump. She is passionate about evangelism and apologetics and discernment education. Her definitive book is “Social Justice and the Deification of Man: What You Need to Know When Talking to the Christian Left”. Today we take apart what seemed to be just another way “to do church” in the early part of this century and drag it over to it’s logical conclusion: the deification of man. While that might sound dramatic, it is absolutely what is and always was behind the door of the emergent church/emergence theology that dared to attempt to do plastic surgery on the bride of Christ by denying the need for the atonement, rethinking the gospel, and placing all power and authority for the end game of earth on man. Even though the Bible teaches something apocalyptically different, the doesn’t stop man from thinking that sin is merely all the ways society has let us down. How can Christians better respond to the left on this? Perhaps making fun of the No Kings approach isn’t the most helpful and yet it’s hard not to take that route. Play Episode Listen Later Mar 30, 2026

Original airdate 4/10/26: Mary welcomes Dr. Tim Chaffey to discuss the controversial Hebrew Roots Movement. Far from simply trying to understand the Jewish roots of the Bible, this movement seeks to answer the question about what happens when Gentiles and Jews get saved: do Gentiles become Jews?  For centuries, the people of God were Jews, with the exception of some Gentiles who came to faith in the God of Israel. The early church consisted mostly of Jewish believers in Jesus, but when the gospel went to the Gentiles, there was a new dynamic that, unfortunately, even led some to believe that Christians were the new Israel and now received all the promises of God solely. This teaching continues today across the church spectrum. Why is there so much confusion about who is who, when the epistles clearly address these things head on? But with the HRM, there is even more confusion regarding the Mosaic Law, the feasts of Israel, who is a Jew, and what is Israel. Here to help us sort it all out is Dr. Chaffey, whose comprehensive article on the subject can be found here.   Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

Mary welcomes back Alana Arguello to continue our conversation around her exhaustive work, “Unearthing Yoga’s Ancient Roots”. Both believers and unbelievers alike think they understand paganism and practices like Yoga, but in reality, Yoga is not a practice – it is an idea. Think about it: if Satan convinced mankind to think they can become gods or even are gods, how does that look in practice? How do they get there, how to they act god-like? By practicing something that is no more real than their thinking they can be gods! Paganism, philosophy, delusion, are all part of the alt-beliefs that are diametrically opposed to revealed truth. God IS truth, it is not just “part” of Him. He cannot be separated from truth itself. Philosophy, long held to be a lot of hot air designed to explain away our world apart from God, is a fascinating subject and enlightens us to the rebellion against our Maker.       Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

Mary welcomes back Berean Call president Rob Yardley to talk about what the faithful life looks like, in any and all generations. Rob’s March Berean Call article, “Faithful Scribes” can be found here. For most believers, a faithful life is made up of ordinary days – days that God has given us to bless us, use us, test us, and sanctify us. Who have been the faithful among men? Those of whom the world was not worthy, who gave their perhaps smallish lives for the only thing that endures; the men who recognized the canon of Scripture so we could discern God’s ways and will for our lives; faithful spouses who provide a witness to the church and a firm foundation for their offspring; and on and on. Do we really give enough time and attention to our own faithfulness? How we impact those around us every single day, even without ever slaying one giant or affecting a population? What about all the faithful believers who maybe clean the church or teach our kids? Social media is a fascinating environment. One in particular asks us “What’s on your mind?”, and then proceeds to make value judgments when we dare to tell. Be that as it may, many of us in the church have stuff on our mind too, especially when church doesn’t seem to match up with the biblical parameters and suggestions/commands. Then after mulling that for a bit, we tend to resign ourselves to the fact that people have changed, the culture has changed too much to expect church not to have. But wait, God never changes. The culture will always change. Does that give us the right to change the church? To bring the culture inside to testify of the popular way? Why no, it doesn’t. So in observing something hopefully all believers do every Sunday morning, how can we not have questions and observations? Why is this the object of discussion among believers and yet nothing ever changes? Can we entertain (oops wrong word maybe) the idea that an Acts church is still an option? Today Mary looks at all the ways that believers have handed their fellowships over to corporations and methods and suggests one way that might reverse the trends.   Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

As we saw with Covid, humans are deeply affected by suggestion, as long as it is accompanied by significant fear and threats. It is no different than antisemitism in a strange way – if people are told that the Jews are despicable and not to go near them, they will program their activities and lives to live that out. As another example, in some circles, a person can’t even name Trump without becoming deranged or acting violently and irrationally.  We are in that era of strong delusion and deception. Now that Iran has played their turn and installed a familial leader (which the 1970s Ayatollah KHO-meini decried before his death), Trump is certainly having to deal with a chess move he hates. After all, why would he go through all this trouble only to have to go in circles and start again with another hardliner? It will be interesting to see Trump’s next move. Meanwhile, no one has seen or heard from the heir apparent yet, so is he dead, alive, or just MIA? Reminds one of Schrodinger’s poor old kitty, an analogy afforded us by none other than Jeff Childers of his Coffee and Covid blog. The number one question? “Are there true believers in the Catholic church?” That’s how we open this podcast and then take some of the main concerns people have and shine the light of truth on it, from the bible of course. If we have any other plumb line, we will be skewed in every spiritual category. When it comes to the vast numbers that adhere to this belief system, it is impossible to know or measure what each Catholic believes since it’s never been a one-size-fits-all religion; not just from diocese to diocese, but in the syncretistic way it is adapted to any culture around the world. But one thing we can know, is how does it measure up to sound doctrine? Today we put our thinking caps on and dive into the main themes. If someone claims to be born again, and doesn’t know the Word enough to see the false teaching they are submitting to in Catholicism, we have to wonder not just what their motivation is, but the motivation of the person who asks, “are their born again Catholics in that church?” Some straight shooting in this edition of SUFTT.     Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

We talk about the big issues of the day – are children mature enough to understand them? There was a time not only did these cultural issues remain hidden from children’s eyes, but the children were also allowed to fully experience childhood free from the knowledge of sexual and political understanding in a way far beyond their years.  We talk about discernment in curricula; and helping kids make good choices in behavior and self discipline. Telling them what they did wrong, but also helping them choose better next time is critical to driving home the need for good character and responding biblically. When I was a kid, and I had to go down to the basement to fetch something for my mom, I hated opening that door. And once the errand was accomplished, I would run up the steps like the devil himself was after me. There was something about the dark and unknown that my naive little heart wanted nothing to do with. Today, the notion of gatekeepers and hall monitors for the deep state has that same effect on me. I don’t even want to open the door. But in an important conversation today with Alex Newman, we talk about one of the poster boys for basement level boogeymen: Jeffrey Epstein. He didn’t own a country or a title, wasn’t a Caesar, Kaiser or Tzar.  And yet his influence is massive and we have to ask why. The answers may shock you. Why is the nation so obsessed with Epstein? We also talk about bad actors in public schooling and in climate agendas. Have we just entered into a season that is one of the most unpredictable since the Shah was overthrown in 1979? Even with the strength that President Reagan showed in releasing the American hostages from Iran’s volatile and brutal grip back then, perhaps President Trump has shown the most courage and resolve we have seen in decades with his Operation Fury to take out the wicked Ayatollah “Haman” Khameini. While some of the leftier among us are crying outrage just because it’s Trump, most citizens of the globe recognize the fact that the world, and the Mideast in particular, need LESS Khameinis, not more – or even one – and clearly Trump agrees. Siding with a tyrannical Islamic regime that kills its own is a form of insanity that no one can defend from a human standpoint. At any rate, God is working, because if it is as late as we think it is, it’s all part of Bible prophecy. Back in the 70s, for less than one dollar, one could purchase a Bic lighter and set stuff on fire easily. In today’s Mideast, with hatred all around stewing and brewing, especially for Israel, it doesn’t take much more than one of those to invoke a regional war. Tim and Mary invite you to be watching and waiting with them on our weekly Headline Days.

Dr. JB Hixson Mary welcomes back JB Hixson to explore a Bible topic that is both personal and practical: surrendering fully to Jesus. In John 3:29-30, we read, He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease. John was said by Jesus to be the greatest among those born of women, but the least in the kingdom. Now that is a conundrum and yet we understand the unique position John was in for all of history, and that he never saw the crucifixion or resurrection. So let’s get practical: what does that mean to decrease and give Jesus preeminence in our lives? What does this look like as the ultimate ministry model? How is the church doing on that front when we consider all the glory some ministries take for themselves? A timely hour with JB.       Stand Up For The Truth Videos: https://rumble.com/user/CTRNOnline & https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgQQSvKiMcglId7oGc5c46A

    Dave Wager: Four Old Lessons

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 2, 2026 55:25

Today's new episode of Stand Up For The Truth features Dave Wager teaching solo, walking listeners through what he calls “four old lessons” from the book of Job, anchored by 1 Peter 5:8, the warning to stay alert because the devil prowls like a roaring lion. Dave frames the whole conversation around “principles” versus opinions, perspectives, or methods. Principles do not change, regardless of feelings or culture, and Job's story is used as a clear example. He starts with Job 1, highlighting Job's integrity and unusual blessing, then pulls back the curtain to Job 1:6 and the heavenly scene where God points to Job as blameless and upright, showing that what heaven calls “great” is character, not comfort. From there, Dave lays out the four lessons: (1) there is an active spiritual battle, (2) the fight centers on people, our allegiance and trust in God, (3) the crowd, even close friends, cannot define truth, and (4) believers must keep growing through humility and repentance. Along the way he illustrates spiritual attack with a vivid story about a cat tormenting a chipmunk, and he warns that deception often feels like “light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). Job's response to loss becomes a model for suffering with worship and steady truth (Job 1:21), and God's questioning in Job 38 becomes a reminder to focus on what we know about God when we cannot explain what we are living through. Dave closes by re-centering “blessing” as being used by God to represent Him, not simply having ease, and points listeners to God's higher ways (Isaiah 55:8–9) and His proven Word as refuge (Psalm 18:30).

Mary Danielsen Mary takes on some headlines today with a theme: why is everyone so angry? In particular, what things just set people off in a frenzy of emotional vitriol? Well, the nation of Israel for one, in particular those peculiar people of God, the Jews (we are all peculiar people according to the Bible) – those set apart as His own. People can’t seem to run out of things to be furious about. The nations, they do rage. We look at an article about Tucker – yes, another one on his encroaching insanity – but this one asks the question, what does he want from the Jews, that he is so obsessed? A foundational look. We also look at Gaza and the Peace Board’s plan to renovate it. But not just with brick and mortar –  it will be the first controlled technocracy piece of real estate on earth. What does that mean? Then we talk about anger, what the Bible says about it and how to avoid just being part of the mob.

Mary welcomes back seasoned apologist Don Veinot of Midwest Christian Outreach to talk about “sycretism” and why the majority of evangelicals embrace it to some level or another. What is syncretism? Is it those dreadful “Co-Exist” bumper stickers, or something more sinister? Syncretism is the mixing of one faith/belief system with another, it is mixing two things that aren't supposed to go together. Accepting parts of each, but denying the whole. But the gospel cannot be divided and conquered to make us more comfortable. However, syncretism is the natural, meaning carnal, response to the Gospel. Some reject the Gospel completely. Others want to accept only part of the Gospel, merging specific aspects of it to fit their own ideas. We give quite a few examples, some of which might surprise the listener. Then we look at deconstruction – what it is and isn’t. One would hope that the one that is disappointed with orthodoxy on any level actually looked deeply into what Christianity actually teaches and then made a sober decision. Or is it emotional, a response to either God or man letting them down? Tim and Mary take a look at the news cycle once again, and while it generally resembles all the news cycles, one thing we can count on is that in Jesus, His mercies are new every morning; this can never be true in the world. He is the faithful one, and no matter how tiresome this world becomes, the one thing God says we need is His mercy, not more dark news about man’s inhumanity to man. So we start there, and then try and make sense of this divisive, judgment ready world. Today we look at the continued blame for everything on white men who love Jesus;  Mike Huckabee’s attempt to reason with Tucker; and the world marching to the beat of Antichrist, especially in Europe where the spirit of the AC has preceded him. As interesting as it all is, and helpful to watch the times, Lamentations 3:22-26 says it all:  “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I hope in Him! The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” (NKJV)

His guest is Michael Johnson, president of Slavic Gospel Association, who also brings a strong communications background to the role. Michael began his career in international advertising (1986–1995) as an account manager and supervisor serving major consumer brands, then moved into nonprofit agency leadership at KMA Direct Communications and Douglas Shaw and Associates, serving as Senior Vice President for 11 years before rejoining SGA. In this conversation, that blend shows up clearly, he's telling the story of gospel work with clarity, history, and real-world outcomes, while emphasizing that the mission stays rooted in faithful local churches. Michael walks listeners through SGA's roots and purpose. Founded in 1934 by Peter Deyneka, the organization began by supporting believers behind the Iron Curtain through covert Bible distribution and Christian radio partnerships, strengthening Christians who often had to listen in secret at great personal risk. Today, the focus is still the same at its core, equipping local churches instead of sending western missionaries, with a network that includes thousands of evangelical Baptist congregations across the former Soviet region. Michael notes he is building on the biblical and ministry foundation laid by Peter Deyneka and Bob Provost, with Bob continuing to advise as President Emeritus. As the discussion turns to the war in Ukraine, the theme becomes practical compassion, the church as a visible refuge, including their “Heat and Hope” effort to resource churches with generators and supplies so they can serve as centers of warmth, help, and gospel hope during harsh winters.

Should families be arguing daily about their kids’ time on smart devices? Might that be a sign of an unhealthy view and place of entertainment in our households? Dr. Ted is Founder and Publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®: The Family Guide to Movies and Entertainment and Chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission® ministry, as well as a noted critic, educator, lecturer, and media pundit. His life's purpose is to be used of God to redeem the values of the media while educating audiences on how to use discernment in selecting their entertainment. Movieguide has 4,000+ Faith Based Articles and Movie Reviews to help families navigate today’s media. Following the chat with Ted, we continue to talk about media and families and how to protect our dearest gifts – the youngsters God has entrusted us with.
