Doing God's Work God's Way Zechariah 4:4-6
Every part of the believer’s life should be characterized by steady reliance upon the Holy Spirit.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Many leaders work hard, carry responsibility faithfully, and end their days exhausted—yet still wonder whether they accomplished what truly mattered. In this episode, Leadership Purpose: Are We Doing the Work God Prepared for Us?, we confront the tension between productivity and obedience and return to a foundational truth from Ephesians 2:10. Before Scripture speaks about purpose, it speaks about grace. We are saved by grace through faith—not by effort, performance, or leadership success. Yet grace is not the end of the story. Paul reminds us that we are God's workmanship—His carefully crafted creation—designed to walk in good works God prepared in advance for us. This episode explores what leadership purpose really means. It is not about staying busy, chasing opportunity, or filling every gap. It is about discerning the specific work God has placed before us—assignments shaped by our story, our strengths, our scars, and our influence. Purpose requires attentiveness, not just activity. You'll hear why God's prepared work is often people-sized rather than project-sized, why obedience sometimes demands courage, and how leaders can confuse faithfulness with busyness. We'll also reflect on why God never wastes our experiences—and how He prepares both the work and the leader together. This episode invites leaders to pause and ask a deeper question: Am I walking in the work God prepared for me—or simply staying productive? Through biblical insight and practical reflection, you'll be encouraged to realign your leadership with God's calling so that your work becomes worship, your influence gains eternal weight, and your leadership reflects God's purpose rather than constant urgency.

The Gospel of John
Pastor Scott opens 2 Samuel 4 & 5 to use and talks about David's courage, righteousness, & prayerfulness.
Pastor Lindsay walks through the end of Moses' story in Numbers 20 and wrestle with a difficult but holy truth: sometimes God asks us to sacrifice, serve, and lead—not so we can enjoy the Promised Land, but so others can. Moses was faithful for 40 years. He endured constant complaints, betrayal, exhaustion, and heartbreak. And yet, because of one moment, he never entered the Promised Land himself. Still, Moses never turned bitter. He never walked away from God. Instead, he finished strong—pointing the people toward a future he would never personally experience. Whether you're a parent, a leader, a church member, or someone feeling worn down by long obedience, his message invites you to trust that a life spent preparing the way for others is still a good and faithful life. fmhouston.com

Mission Work God's Way | Acts 20:1-5 | 8 October 2025 - Wednesday Evening | Dr. Brad Weniger, Pastor
While we may plant seeds and water them, only God brings true spiritual growth. Paul reminds the Corinthians—and us—that leaders are simply servants and tools in God's hands, not the source of life or success. Our call is to faithfully play our role, seek God first, and trust Him for the increase, knowing that all growth and reward come from Him.

The enemy can't stop Jesus. So he makes you believe the lie it's not worth showing up and living sold out for Jesus. He makes you feel alone and dismisses the Work God is doing so you won't press on to victory.

In the face of your faults and sin, God doesn't just say, “I forgive you.” In grace, God also says, “Let me help you.” This week Pastor Austin continues the Titus sermon series.
In this message, Pastor Willie George closes out our Essentials of Renewal series, inviting us to rethink the power and purpose of the resurrection—and what it means for the church.
When people around you at work succeed, do you find yourself happy for them or feeling bad for yourself? It can be easy to compare our career path to someone else's and come out feeling like we missed our chance at moving up - but the truth is that everyone's journey will look different. Galatians 6:4 says, “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else.” So next time the temptation to compare yourself to a coworker comes up, take the focus off of others and put it back on the work God has given you to do today. Because when you work with excellence, you bring honor to God… and that's the measure of TRUE success!
When I was a teenager, I played on our church basketball team. Doyle was our center. Our arch-rival was an inner-city church. During the game, the center for the opposing team fouled out and blamed Doyle. When he walked to the bench, he pointed a finger at Doyle and said, “I'll be waiting for you in the parking lot.” He was a lot bigger than Doyle and the threat had Doyle shook up. After the game ended, our team decided we weren't going to let Doyle face the other guy alone. So, as we left the gym and walked out to the parking lot, we were one big group huddled up together with Doyle in the middle. As believers, the opposition we face isn't always as apparent as in this story, but it is real nonetheless. Every believer engages in some level of spiritual warfare against Satan and his schemes. Thankfully, we don't stand alone. God Himself stands with us whenever we face opposition. Contestant number 43,212 walked onto the stage to audition for Britain's Got Talent. She stood in sharp contrast to previous performers. Unkempt curly hair and a less than flattering dress suggested a frumpy housewife. Simon Cowell interviewed her briefly and her admission that she was 47 years old caused raised eyebrows and scattered laughter from the audience. Her awkward verbal responses added to the anticipation that her performance would be cut short quickly. Expectations hit rock bottom when she revealed the ambitious choice to sing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Misérables. But when contestant number 43,212 finished singing just the first phrase, “I dreamed a dream in time gone by” the audience had begun to cheer and applaud while each judge wore a look of amazement and disbelief. Her voice was beautiful and strong. She finished the song to a standing ovation, and Susan Boyle was on her way. Simon Cowell said later she was the textbook example of “never judge a book by its cover.” Sometimes God surprises us in the same way, working in ways and through people we might not expect. My call to the ministry came later in life. At 32 years of age, I was attending seminary full-time, working two part-time jobs, and my wife worked full-time. We were doing our best to take care of three small children and ourselves. Money was tight. A man from my home church knew of our financial stress and handed me a check for a large amount of money. Immediately my pride took over and I said, “Thanks but we'll get by.” After his insistence that I take the money, I refused again. In response, this man said something I've never forgotten. He said, “If you don't take this money, you'll take away the joy and blessing I have from giving it.” Initially I thought his statement was simply trying to convince me to take the money, but as I've grown in my walk with the Lord, I understand now what he meant. For believers there's a joy and blessing that comes as we let God work through us for the sake of others. Meeting the needs of others can reveal God's hand at work. We need God's help, especially in times of uncertainty or distress. The question isn't, “Will God respond?” More often the question is, “Will we respond to God's help in faith and obedience?” The post ELISHA-SEEING THE HAND OF GOD AT WORK: God's Hand in Meeting Our Needs (YOU-Spr'25, Study 2, Session 2) appeared first on YOU.
I receive invitations on a regular basis. Not the big invitations such as, “The President and First Lady invite you to spend Christmas at the White House.” The invitations I receive are more mundane. This past week I received a number of invitations in the mail. The local car dealer invited me to look at their new inventory and maybe even spend thousands of dollars on a vehicle. I'll pass. I also received an invitation from the county to pay my property taxes in a timely fashion and avoid jail time. I might take them up on that one. One is God's invitation to join Him in His work, and the primary way He delivers the invitation is to reveal what He's doing. Elisha sets the example for how we should respond to God's call to join Him and serve. Welcome back to the kitchen table. Motherhood can feel overwhelming, with constant worries about the future and whether we're doing enough. Romans 6:11God Is Faithfully at Work:God is always transforming you, even when you don't see it. 2 Corinthians 3:18We Can Overcome Strongholds:God gives us the power to overcome fears and doubts. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5Nothing Can Separate Us from God's Love:His love for you is unshakable. The church has been tasked with reaching the next generation with the gospel and with reaching the nations with the gospel. Both of these aspects of the church's mission have eternal implications, and both can feel overwhelming. In this message from Nehemiah 2 by David Platt, we'll see that the great work God has called us to is possible, but only with the good hand of our God working in and through us. As we seek his face and rely on his power, we are strengthened and sustained in the great work of making disciples of all nations. (For more resources from David Platt and Radical, visit radical.net)
