With special guest: Gordon Bray AM… in conversation with Bill Kable Our guest today is part of a select group of legends. Peter FitzSimons has described Gordon Bray as ‘more than a sporting icon’, Gordon is no less than ‘the soundtrack of our sporting lives’. The Voice of Rugby joins us today after a career of over 50 years describing major sporting events on a variety of radio and TV stations. And yet despite being front and centre for all that time we do not know so much about Gordon himself. Gordon tells us of his difficult upbringing after his father died when he was only 9 years old. As one of four children Gordon did his best to ease the burden for his mother who was left to provide for them with the significant assistance of Legacy. The story then is that Gordon made the most of every opportunity that came his way and he has some amazing stories to tell us now as he looks back on that fabled career. Podcast (mp3)

Matt has a new co-host Majdi Slaibi, the director of photography and co-producer of the Gold Digger film. Matt and Maj talk about how they started making the film, Maj's lack of knowledge about rugby union and why that's important and Matt's inability to deliver a punchline about when the boys first met Gordon Bray. There is rugby talk too, and Matt goes over the recent letter by Rugby Australia CEO Rob Clarke that was issued to the "Australian Rugby Community".

You're listening to Unsubscribe! Today, we talk with (formerly rising, now current) project manager Gordon Bray about his experiences in managing both a sales and sports team. Well, it wasn't today (you can tell by the fact that we reference the date, and how the Seattle Mariners were 2-0 at the time). We dug this one out of the archives due to its relevance with our current “Management Strategies campaign.” Gordon provides some great insight into effective management strategies, from the relationships on the team to delegating responsibilities to generating results. “For me, sports and SDR management it all culminates into establishing that trust in that initial communication, because if you're not building a solid foundation…the boat might sink or the building might collapse.” --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
