Der Mittelturm des Senders Königs Wusterhausen, von dem der erste Text handelt, war soeben in Betrieb gegangen und mit seiner Höhe von knapp 300 Metern stählernes Zeugnis der Rasanz, mit der sich das noch blutjunge Medium Rundfunk seinerzeit entwickelte. Sage und schreibe sogar doppelt so hoch hinaus wollte Honnef indes mit einem Vorhaben, bei dem es um ganz andere Wellen ging und von dem die anschließende Meldung kündet: In der Nähe von Leipzig sollte ein Rotorturm der Superlative entstehen, der die gesamte Region perspektivisch kostengünstig mit Strom aus Windenergie versorgen sollte.
