Numbers 16 and 17 records a rebellion against Moses, led by Korah, Dathan and Abiram. Ultimately this rebellion was against God, and we see in this story that those who rebelled were driven by a spirit of criticism. In today's message, Pastor Phil studies this account from the book of Numbers, and reminds us that when see the sins committed by the nation of Israel back then, we can often see the same sins in our own life today. We all need a Savior.

The first of several rounds of severe weather hit part of the Gulf Coast on Thursday, spinning up tornadoes near Houston and damaging buildings in Louisiana. In other news, a stretch of Interstate 80 in New Jersey was closed after a sinkhole opened up on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes on Thursday morning. The sinkhole that appeared near Wharton, New Jersey, was due to the collapse of an abandoned mine under the highway. And in Utah, a man rescued his brother from a “large avalanche” he triggered while the pair were snowmobiling on Wednesday. The brothers were in the Franklin Basin area of Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest when one of them triggered the avalanche Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

AP's Lisa Dwyer reports on a sinkhole that shut down a portion of a major New Jersey road.
Have you ever seen a sinkhole? These are spots in the Earth's surface where the ground has collapsed and formed a hole. Sometimes they can be more than a hundred feet deep! But how do sinkholes form? We asked geologist Hazel Barton to help us find the answer.Got a question that's a real hole in one? Send it to us at BrainsOn.org/contact, and we'll help dig up the answer!
Questions answered this episode: 1. Did John Paul II identify the 4 ruptures? 2. My husband and I have been married for over 35 years. We've been through very difficult challenges in our married life and my body is not capable of intercourse. It's been 5 years since our last union. Why do I feel shame about myself and my inability to give what I don't have? What does the Bible mean with the words “give himself up for her” from Ephesians 5? 3. I'm a 27 yo man who has never been in a romantic relationship. What bothers me is that I've never had a desire to be in a relationship. Seems like this lack of desire for a relationship partly stems from selfishness. How can I work towards becoming less selfish and truly seek the good that can be found in union with another person? Ask Christopher West is a weekly podcast in which Theology of the Body Institute President Christopher West and his beloved wife Wendy share their humor and wisdom, answering questions about marriage, relationships, life, and the Catholic faith, all in light of John Paul II's beautiful teachings on the Theology of the Body.
https://slasrpodcast.com/ SLASRPodcast@gmail.com This week, writer Ty Gagne joins us to discuss the release of his new book, The Lions of Winter, the story of a search and rescue of two young climbers on Mount Washington, Hugh Herr and Jeff Batzer. The book chronicles the events of this multi-day rescue that took place in January of 1982 focusing on the men and women involved in the rescue including Albert Dow a young member of the rescue team that lost his life in an avalanche below the Lion Head area. To start the show, we have forest road updates, the first avalanche of the year on Tuckerman Ravine, the countdown to winter, a sinkhole swallows a grandma in Pennsylvania (a cat is involved in this situation), plus some recent search and rescue events in NH. Note 1 - This episode contains spoilers. If you have not read The Lions of Winter, Ty's segment starts around 45 minutes into the show. We get into more specific details (caution - spoilers) around the 60 minute mark. Note 2 - We turned on Ads from our Podcast Publisher this week as a test.
