#HRhelpdesk #IndiaHRGuide #MandeepSingh, In this episode, Mandeep Singh discusses a simple but powerful HR best practice with significant legal implications: collecting and formally recording an employee's authorised personal email address. He explains why HR teams already maintain personal contact details, including permanent addresses, for situations such as absconding, issuing reminders, serving notices, processing exits, sending full and final settlements, and issuing Form 16. Mandeep highlights the risk of relying on job application email addresses, particularly after employees exit the organisation. The episode introduces the concept of taking a clear declaration from employees specifying the personal email address on which official electronic communication can be sent. Once such an address is declared, any communication sent to it can be treated as duly served, eliminating disputes around notice delivery, acknowledgements, and physical signatures. Mandeep also discusses practical limitations of this approach, explaining why it may not be suitable for certain categories of employees. When implemented correctly, this practice strengthens HR governance, simplifies compliance, and protects organisations during exits, disputes, and disciplinary actions.

Technology is part of our lives from a very early age and dealing with the choices is hard for adults, let alone kids barely out of nappies, but it is their reality. This terrific new book is just what the doctor ordered and delivered - Dr. Niraj Lal, that is. Behind the Screens is a guide to navigating the internet for 9 to 13 year olds, but it is so much more than that. Like lots of things in life, kids should not be the only ones allowed to access this invaluable tool. Dr. Niraj aka 'Nij' has given us a well laid out game plan to ensure we are controlling our phone and internet use, not the other way around. Behind the Screens - published by University of Queensland Press - is exactly what it says it is, a book that shows you how the internet works and how to make it work for you. Rumours about the Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi have reached a boiling point. Authorised dealer websites — controlled by Rolex, not the retailers — have quietly dropped the reference, and WatchPro is reporting that dealers have been told to expect no further deliveries. Asher finds it a dull story; Gabe is more interested in what comes next from Rolex in dress watches, the 1908 collection, and whether the long-dormant Milgauss finally returns. The centrepiece of the episode is the fallout from the annual Morgan Stanley/LuxConsult Swiss Watch Industry report, which drew unusually public pushback from Swatch Group and Tudor this year. Gabe frames Swatch's objections in context: a holding company with depressed stock, underperforming peers, and an activist investor pressing against the Hayek family's control. Their counter-arguments cherry-pick individual figures without offering systematic data — and suing, he notes, gets complicated fast when Swiss civil law has no discovery process. The episode closes on Kalshi's new watch futures prediction market, built in partnership with Bezel. Gabe is sceptical — the market is too thin, insider-trading risk too obvious, and a wrong prediction leaves you with nothing. Both hosts agree it has the feel of early-2020s financial-instrument mania and probably won't survive scrutiny. The episode opens with an announcement for Collective Horology's Los Angeles Open House watch show (June 6, RSVP required) and closes with a conversation about the podcast's focus on the business of watches and why that perspective matters to collectors and industry observers. Openwork is a weekly podcast about how the watch industry actually works. An unfiltered look behind the scenes — no press releases, no hype, and no sponsored takes. Authorised biographies, especially of those in high office, tend to suffer from being overly respectful if not downright deferential. But in the case of Juliet Rieden’s authorised biography of Quentin Bryce, the first female Governor General of Australia, authorisation means co-operation without editorial control. In this episode, Rieden explains her close relationship with her subject and how she used the trust she had developed with Bryce to get beyond the immaculate façade she presented in public life. The result is a portrait that is revealing of a woman of grit and determination whose country roots gave her the ability to connect with everyone she met.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

For many, it was the absolute must-see television show every Sunday night across Australia. The show that shaped the musical tastes of a generation and made superstars out of many of its discoveries. That show was Countdown, and authors Brett Leslie and Milton Hammon have painstakingly detailed the history of the show in a very large way with their book Countdown - The Complete Episode Guide. It's over 400 pages, reliving the music and stars of one of the most influential shows of all time. Brett Leslie talks about the challenges they encountered in compiling the book, including the fact the ABC recorded over or wiped much of the early recording of the show. It is an incredible chronicle of a modern day icon and copies have sold fast. Scott Leckie has written many books but none like Shrewd Little Sleuth and that is not surprising. Scott is a human rights lawyer and has penned dozens of books in the course of that vocation, but this latest book is personal. It is about his grandfather - Arthur Bernard Leckie. Arthur was an FBI Agent back in the days when J Edgar Hoover was running the organisation and history tells us that was a time of mystery, skullduggery and intrigue and Scott's grandfather was up to his ears in it. From Marilyn Monroe to Fidel Castro, the stories Scott has uncovered and shared in this book will blow your mind. On Wednesday, President Trump confirmed that he has authorised the CIA to take covert lethal action in Venezuela. The revelation came off the back of a series of US strikes on Venezuelan boats accused of transporting drugs in the Caribbean Sea, which resulted in the death of 27 people in what some human rights experts are calling "extrajudicial executions". The US military operation has the region on edge, leaving analysts wondering whether this is just part of a new war on drugs, or a push to bring down the Maduro regime. The BBC's Will Grant briefs us on these latest developments, and the CIA's history in Latin America. You'll hear Oscar on the pitfalls of auctions, the dangers of sending watches back to manufacturers for servicing, and the challenges of spotting counterfeit pieces. They also explore the dynamics of watch brands like Hublot, Patek Philippe, and Rolex, discussing their market strategies and the impact of limited editions Oscar REVEALS: High-end auctions and vintage watch sales are rife with scams "Frankenstein" watches, which are modified with non-original parts Authorised dealers often require customers to purchase multiple watches or jewellery to qualify for the opportunity to buy highly sought-after models. Brands like Hublot and IWC have faced criticism for overproducing limited editions The importance of brand reputation and how it can impact resale value in the watch market. Authorised dealers may struggle to sell certain models, while grey market prices can be much lower than retail. BEST MOMENTS "The biggest scam in the watch market, I would say, is in auctions. If you don't know what you're doing with vintage watches, you can be scammed for millions." "A Frankenstein watch is when original parts are added to a watch to make it something that it originally wasn't." "I think it's actually suicide to send it back to the brands, especially if you're not really in with them." "Hublot, the fall off needs to be studied because essentially all that went wrong... is they started making limited editions, not even for football teams, but for players who had left the teams." "I believe that Rolex are that for watches. I also believe that they're the best value." Speaking to Palestinian Deep Dive's Ahmed Alnaouq, Corbyn says, “I want to know and I really do want to know who in the British government authorised the overflying of Gaza? Who in the British government authorised the delivery of weapons? Who in the British government knowingly provided weapons to a country that has been arraigned before the ICJ and the ICC?” __________________ Please support our work by donating as little as £1 per month: https://www.palestinedeepdive.com/support __________________ To obtain answers to these questions, the former UK Labour Party leader is demanding a “Chilcot-style” inquiry into the British government's participation in the Gaza genocide. The Chilcot Report, officially titled the Iraq Inquiry, was an independent public inquiry into the UK's involvement in the 2003 Iraq War, chaired by Sir John Chilcot. The Report exposed intelligence failures, lack of planning and questioned the legal basis for the war. Corbyn said he remains “constantly astonished” by the attitude of successive UK governments, which continue to enable Israel's assaults on Gaza, an onslaught he describes as “a Second World War-Style carpet bombing.” However if the government refuses such an inquiry, Corbyn says he will not be deterred from continuing to demand one by billing further parliamentary debates. He also says an alternative would be a public inquiry inspired by the Russell Tribunal on the Vietnam War, “so we will have an open process with expert opinions, witnesses and evidence.” Corbyn urged people everywhere to keep up the pressure on their governments to stop the genocide in Gaza. He emphasised the need to use every available avenue— street protests, raising awareness and protesting against Elbit Systems weapons factories in the UK in particular— to demand justice and accountability. __________________ Please support our work by donating as little as £1 per month: https://www.palestinedeepdive.com/support __________________
With trade wars erupting around the world between the US and its competitors and tariffs being thrown around like confetti, some investors are predicting recession in the US. While Schroders' economists feel that view is a little too extreme, the sentiment towards the world's largest consumer economy is having an impact on markets globally. We're going to take look beyond major markets in the US and the UK and towards Europe, emerging markets and Asia to see how the current situation is affecting them and where opportunities might lie. In this show, my colleague Vera German, a value investor, will give her perspective from an emerging markets point of view. While Abbas Barkhordar, a Fund Manager, talks to us about the opportunities being presented in Asia.
