Author, Podcaster, Audio Drama Creator Paul SatingPaul Sating is an author and creator of five audio drama podcasts, including Subject: Found, Diary of a Madman, Who Killed Julie?, YOU, and Atheist Apocalypse. He is also the host of Horrible Writing, a podcast where he shares his journey toward being published, along with candid interviews with other writers. His first three books were published in 2018. Chasing the Demon (a thriller), 12 Deaths of Christmas (a horror anthology), & Novel Idea to Podcast (nonfiction) helped him realize his childhood dream of becoming a published author. In addition to those ventures, he is the co-creator of an upcoming horror audio drama titled Family Portrait and, when he's not writing books or podcasts, he's punching out short stories for his Patrons and perpetually working on his novels.“Apple could get out of digital media completely. Then what do you do? You need a newsletter. You don't control Twitter, Facebook, Spotify… nobody.” - Paul Sating on owning your content.Connect with Paul:WebsitePaul's PodcastsPaul on PatreonTwitterPaul's Amazon Author PageIf you liked the show, please consider sharing this podcast with your friends, family and network. Your stamp of approval is more valuable than anything I can offer to your network. I appreciate your sharing! Also, leaving a review (and rating) helps spread the word. Do you enjoy listening to fiction? Here’s a special episode supercut of all 12 episodes of YOU, my Patreon-exclusive fan-determined adventure, where the fans decide where the story goes. I’m currently fundraising so I can fund the 3rd season of Subject: Found and the follow-on to Who Killed Julie?. Without this critical funding, those shows will disappear. Patrons not only get this podcast, but they receive YOU and, starting in the spring of 2019, they’ll also be receiving my new medieval epic fantasy, Crown of Thieves, which will only be published for Patrons & for resale (there will be no free, public release of that show beyond the 1st episode). Creating, writing, and producing audio drama is extremely expensive and not sustainable without personal funds being invested. As a solo-creator, I can no longer fund those shows and rely on my Patrons to keep Horrible Writing and The Stories We Tell podcasts going. That’s why they’re getting two exclusive audio dramas, plus other fiction when it’s ready. Indies need a community to survive. If you’ve enjoyed Subject: Found, Who Killed Julie?, Diary of a Madman, Atheist Apocalypse, Horrible Writing, (and will enjoy The Stories We Tell) then please consider becoming a Patron. The donation levels start at $1/MONTH (not per episode); an incredible steal for all the content you get. If you want to enjoy tons of exclusives each month, become a Patron today!
USA Today Bestselling author Simon Wood comes on to talk about the aspect of writing which is (in my opinion) most critical to achieving success (however you define that for you). The Horrible Writing experience he shares is crushing ... and yet he didn't let that stop him. You can find Simon's books here. Check out some of Simon's workshops. Or find him on Facebook. If you're enjoying this show, please take a moment to rate the show wherever you listen (or on Apple Podcasts). Leaving a review as well gives you bonus points in the afterlife. Are you looking to sell more books? Grab my new book, "Novel Idea to Podcast: How to Sell More Books Through Podcasting" today and get a jump-start into the medium while it's still a growing market.
Writing is incredibly lonely and can manifest itself in unhealthy ways. In this episode. Ashley Quach of Deck the Halls (With Matrimony!) comes by to chat about her own struggles with it, how she deals with it, and how it can even be used as a plot developer. You can find Ashley's work at sassquachradio.com. Please rate and review Horrible Writing (assuming you're enjoying it), and why not pick up the PERFECT Christmas/Holiday present for that horror fan in your life while you're online by picking up a copy of 12 Deaths of Christmas?
The newest episode of Horrible Writing deals with the ugly reality that this stuff, writing... it's damn addicting! I have some tips, tools, and tactics to help! If you enjoy the show, please support it by donating any of these 3 ways or by checking out 12 Deaths of Christmas or Chasing the Demon. Everything goes back into producing my podcasts. Thank you!
I idolize what this writer does, so it was an honor to get to chat with Chris Fox. He comes on to talk about something very empowering (to all of us, writers or not), that can change our lives. Even if you're not a Horrible Writing fan, I encourage you to give a listen to what he has to say. We talk about mindset, depression, & he shares tips to removing toxicity from your life. You can find his work at http://www.chrisfoxwrites.com. He also mentions the book, "Mindset," by Dr. Carol Dweck, which you can find at https://www.amazon.com/Mindset-Changing-think-Fulfil-Potential-ebook/dp/B005RZB65Q. What is #cockygate? What's the controversy? 'Cocky' is 'just' a word, after all, isn't it? Writer/screenwriter/lawyer Kevin Kneupper filed a Cancel Petition with the Trademark office & comes on the show to talk about why this is a situation, why writers (and readers) should care, and what he's doing to help us. Note to Horrible Writing fans: this is a SPECIAL episode and does not follow the typical theme of the show. Please support Kevin for the good work he's doing for the community. You can find his "They Who Fell" series on Amazon. You can find him on Facebook and on Twitter at (@kneupperwriter). One author, Tara Crescent, has had many of her books taken down by Amazon. Check her out and see if you can support her by picking up some of her available books. Twitter user @WordSugarDesign has offered to help those negatively impacted (see this tweet). You might be able to support here on her website. Let's rise as a community and support those who need us. Thank you. Peace, Paul
Poet Lorna Rose comes on the show to talk about how becoming a mother changed her writing life. We discuss things like balancing parenthood with the itch to writing, when real life creates other demands. Please check out her work (http:www.lornarose.com) and her Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/bigthings2). I'd love the Horrible Writing community to help me launch my own published author career now that "Chasing the Demon" is available for pre-order on Amazon. Order your copy for $.99 today. I can always use ratings and reviews, if you're bored and would like to help the show. Peace, Paul

From fan of podcasts to producer of podcasts. As an avid fan of podcasts, a little bit of research led Paul to realize podcasting is relatively cheap and easy to get into. He bought a Radio Shack mic and just started talking. He tried all sorts of different themes including socio-political issues and soccer before figuring out how to be authentic and entertaining. This led to his first fictional podcast. Now 6 years later he has 3 fiction podcasts, 2 more in the making and a podcast about writing. Happy 2018!!! The first episode of Horrible Writing is all about me sharing the shifting of focus (I hope) toward a positive focus. May this year bring the show to an entirely new level! Thank you for supporting me into the new year! Please leave a 5-star rating and review & help this show grow in 2018. Peace, Paul
The newest Horrible Writing. This time I interview Rick Coste of Modern Audio Drama. We talk about how writing can serve as therapy. It's a fun, open, honest chat! Please rate & review the show on your podcatcher so that author writers can find it and, hopefully, be encouraged through their writing journey. Cheers, Paul
