Songwriter and singer James Clark talks with host Paul Romanuk about The Beatles' 1969 soundtrack album for the animated film Yellow Submarine.EPISODE NOTES-you can find out about James and his band, James Clark Institute, at their website-here's a good BBC article on the animated film that went with the album and how it resonates on so many different levels and is, in the eyes of many, a cult classic-we talk about one of James Clark Institute's songs - Marcella Never Got The News. The song is about a 1959 float plane crash in Saskatchewan, in which the pilot died and the plane was never found. That is, until July of 2018, when the wreck was discovered at the bottom of a lake. On the same day the discovery was made, the wife of the deceased pilot passed away. She died before getting news of the finding. The song is based on a book, Into The Mist, by Victoria Hetherington. Here's a CBC article that fills in some details.-we talk about The Beatles song Hey Bulldog. It was an interesting song that The Beatles were filmed, in the studio, creating and recording. There are very few films of them actually working in the studio. Here's a link to some of the film clips from that day.-speaking of films of The Beatles working, here's a link to the short BBC film on the creation of the song All You Need Is Love for the Our World worldwide television broadcast of June, 1967, where the song was premiered.

It was a significant week in the world of pro wrestling, both locally and internationally. On the home front, SPW presented Into The Mist headlined by the legendary Tajiri. The Japanese Buzzsaw had a barnstormer of a match with The Statement Andreuw Tang, but the spotlight was rightly placed on the local wrestlers for the night. Mister Young and FRGN give their review of the show while also addressing the unfortunate confrontation they had with Dr Gore before the event. Next, GrappleMAX are having a special event this weekend, partnering with Sing Lit Station to present two nights of wrestling and poetry. It is a literal poetry slam and we have WrestleSquare Cruiserweight Champion Showtime Val and spoken word poet Melizarani to explain to us what this fascinating concept is all about. Finally, the Podcast Boyz share their thoughts on NXT WarGames and WWE Survivor Series where NXT truly shined over the two PPVs. The yellow and gold brand has truly arrived and can now be considered a legitimate third brand. What does this mean for the WWE landscape going forward?
SPW's resident rebels, the Social Misfits, finally make their debut on Kick To The Gut! Kyle "The Trickster" Black and Oldboy Judas have aligned themselves with GM Carl Hella as part of the Final Battle against the Might Dragon Family at this weekend's Into The Mist event. Ahead of their match, Mister Young and FRGN sat the duo down to find out more about the team, from Kyle's magician background to Judas's love for Kopi-O. The wrestlers then join the Podcast Boyz in previewing the SPW card, including Japanese legend Tajiri's much anticipated appearance. Finally, cross-branded warfare is the name of the game as NXT, Raw and SmackDown jostle for dominance. We give our predictions for NXT TakeOver: WarGames and WWE Survivor Series in what promises to be a stacked weekend of wrestling.
A very warm welcome to our latest edition No114, very mixed musically as usual. Includes the latest albums by Keith Richie, Steve Jolliffe, Mark Seelig & Sam Rosenthal, Red Planet Orchestra, Odnu, DeVega, Tedd Arnold, Aesthesys, Halonen & Syvers, & Samantha Booquin. Although we basically promote electronic music we’ve decided to feature the delicate keys of solo piano composer Fiona Joy. I was recently talking to a friend who happened to get on the subject of woman pioneers in electronic music and came up with a couple of names I’ve not heard before, Elaine Radigue & Else Marie Pade. Having delved into their catalogue of music I thought it would be interesting to let you hear a couple of tracks from them, Else especially has a fascinating past history, Our blast from the past track ‘Cabala’, celebrates the 30th anniversary of Wavestar’s successful third album, Moonwind, formed by John Dyson & David Ward Hunt, who sadly passed away in 1999. Chatting With Sherri welcomes back author Lee Murray to chat about her latest work; INTO THE MIST! We will talk about creativity, networking and how important for a writer to network with other writers at conventions, writers conferences or writer groups. She will also talk about her latest work, here is a great review; "Cinematic and evocative, Into the Mist is a tension-packed expedition into primordial terror. Murray's writing had me feeling the damp of the forest, seeing the mist curling through the fern fronds, and sensing the danger lurking there. Ancient myths, military men and scientists placed in remote, primordial locations – it had all the right ingredients for me, and it didn't disappoint for a moment. Lee Murray is an author to watch." – Greig Beck, best-selling author of the Arcadian series Please join us!
