Chatting With Sherri welcomes back multi-talented photographer; Ian L. Sitren! Ian L Sitren is a multi-talented photographer. He creates amazing pictures of fast food, athletes, models, actors and aircraft! "As a little boy I used to build military aircraft models and hang them from the ceiling in my room. Now I get to photograph them and fly in historic and military airplanes from World War II and many others.” Inspired by the controversy surrounding fast food photography, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Critics seemed intent on making fast food look unappealing by squashing burgers and manipulating the presentation. On the other hand, advertising images are meticulously staged and often unrealistic. I chose to photograph the food exactly as it comes out of the bag, against a simple black background, capturing its true form. To my surprise, the food actually looks quite appealing. I am now planning to create large-scale photographs for an exhibit, along with an accompanying photo book, offering what might be a historical perspective on fast food. "Photo excursions started out a few years ago with me just looking for interesting shoot locations. Then a couple of my friends wanted to come along so they became road trips for the purpose of finding the odd and unusual. One of the guys in our group does paintings from his photographs and is now in galleries here in Southern California and Montana and has been in number of prestigious art shows. Another of our group has also been successful in art shows with his photographs, here and abroad. Art Patron Magazine last year did a story about our photo excursions."

(cover art by Travis Hanson)" Heartbreaks & Half-truths: 22 Stories of Mystery & Suspense -, Buzz Dixon (Contributor),- Lovers and losers; The twenty-two authors represented in this collection of mystery and suspense interpret the overarching theme of “heartbreaks and half-truths” in their own inimitable style, where only one thing is certain: Behind every broken heart lies a half-truth. His most recent book is Hide Me Among the Graves. The Manchester Guardian called Powers “the best fantasy writer to appear in decades.” Tim teaches the annual Writers of the Future workshop. He has been involved with the Contest since its early years, serving as one of the instructors (along with Algis Budrys and Orson Scott Card) at the very first official WotF workshop in Sag Harbor. “I think I've been a judge for most of the quarters in the past two decades. This means that several times a year I get a stack of manuscript photocopies via next-day mail, and take a day off from my own writing to read them all and evaluate them; this is no chore, since Dave Wolverton or K.D. Wentworth has already culled them from the total volume of submissions, and invariably there is at least one story that I'm grateful to have a chance to read. I send my verdicts in, and usually I hang on to a couple of the photocopies, just because I want to have the chance to read them again before the actual anthology is published.” — Tim Powers

Chatting With Sherri welcomes award-winning writer, Devon Bohm ! Devon is a poet and writer who received her BA from Smith College and her MFA in Poetry and Fiction from Fairfield University. At Fairfield, Bohm became increasingly frustrated with the denial of genre fiction as “Literature” and began exploring the big question of why people were attracted to different forms of speculative fiction. The answer she found didn't surprise her, as it was what she'd always valued about her favorite writers: genres like fantasy or science-fiction perform the same function of all good literature by finding new and inventive ways to help the reader see their world (and self) more clearly. Devon is a winner in our international contest, The Writers of the Future and her winning story, "Kitsune," is published in L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 39
