What if you are clearly one of the best fighters on the planet, better than many champions who have won undisputed UFC titles, but never won one yourself? Well that question is essentially what this list is exactly about. Absolutely phenomenal fighters who fell just shy of their own undisputed gold. It goes without saying, this list does not count interim as it's an honor underneath the top fighter in that division usually meant to fill a gap or merely to help sell PPVs.
In this episode of Bring the Pain, Crissi Rae and I start round two as we go Through the Turnbuckles this week. You'll find out by clicking below so buckle up because this is going to be a wild ride. Have a great day, everyone, and may the slams be with you. The Big Five Project returns and, much to the delight of PC Tunney, we bring 1995 to a close with what was probably the best PPV in one of the worst years for PPVs in WWE history. Survivor Series '95 seems to be where WWE started righting the ship, so to speak. We had cruiserweights and light-heavyweights trying to steal the show in the opening match, a very unique Wild Card format for one of the other Survivor Series elimination matches, and an absolute war in the Main Event between Bret Hart and Diesel for the WWF Championship. The best match in the trilogy of battles between Big Daddy Cool and the Hitman saw the Excellence of Execution become a three-time WWF Champ and set things in motion for 1996. There are, of course, some problems with the card (it is 1995 after all), notably the Women's elimination match and the final match in WWE for Bam Bam Bigelow. But Survivor Series was a damn good PPV and an encouraging sign of things to come as the calendar would turn to 1996! This week on the Tapped Out Wrestling Podcast, we're breaking down some of the biggest shake-ups in combat sports and pro wrestling:WWE/ESPN Deal: What the $1.6 billion, 5-year agreement means for Premium Live Events, why fans are upset about the $29.99/month price tag, and how the move could reshape WWE's reach and presentation.Karrion Kross & Scarlett Exit: Are they really gone or is this another WWE “blurred reality” storyline? We look at Kross's candid comments, creative frustrations, and what's next for both.AEW's Hurt Syndicate Heat: MVP's backstage reputation, booking decisions, and the creative challenges facing AEW's tag division.WWE vs AEW on the Same Night: WWE rumored to run a main roster PLE head-to-head with AEW All Out — is this a strategic shot or coincidence?UFC's Paramount+ & CBS Mega Deal: $7.7 billion, the end of $79.99 PPVs, what fighters stand to gain or lose, and whether CBS can make up for UFC leaving ESPN's massive social media presence.
The UFC ACTUALLY DID IT! They finally got rid of PPV. This effectively means in the US, you are no longer go to have to spend over a thousand dollars a year if you want to legit buy every PPV and get a subscription of ESPN+ in order to do so. Paramount Plus has paid a crazy amount to essentially get rid of UFC PPVs for the next 7 years and pretty much forever if this goes well.

UFC 317 looked great on paper and delivered in practice, as well. Ilia Topuria became the tenth man in UFC history to claim a title in a second division, and he did it in devastating fashion, knocking Charles Oliveira out cold. And he did it inside the first round, as he predicted. The brass has a rare opportunity here with Topuria and they should get behind him with every ounce of their marketing heft. This guy will be selling out arenas and making PPVs soar. And the way he torched Paddy Pimblett during their in-cage faceoff was hilarious.Alexandre Pantoja put an end to Kai Kara-France's title hopes with a third round submission, setting the UFC flyweight record for most finishes. After Joshua Van's terrific win over Brandon Royval in a fight of the year performance, Van and Pantoja also faced off in the cage, confirming they will be battling for Pantoja's belt next. Tonight gave us the kind of performances fight fans have been craving. It's about time. The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the worst PPVs of all time, King of the Ring 1995. Seriously, this is an event that kind of makes WrestleMania IX look good by comparison. Vince McMahon had all the elements in place to make this an event to remember. Well, it was an event to remember for all the wrong reasons. The bracket for the King of the Ring tournament was pretty solid. But bad matches and even worse booking decisions led us to the crowning of....King Mabel? Oh, and if that was not bad enough, Vince threw Bret "Hitman" Hart, the best wrestler in the company, into a meaningless Kiss My Foot match with Jerry "The King" Lawler. The fact that match was one of the better matches on the card tells you so much of what you need to know, and we have not event talked about the Main Event pitting the WWF Champion Diesel, and his tag team partner, Bam Bam Bigelow, against Sycho Sid and Tatanka in a match that redefined the word meaningless. If you are asking why....well you are not the only ones as we asked ourselves the same question over and over during this PPV that really epitomizes just how rough things were in WWF during the first half of 1995. Rob returns to the show and joins Dave, DJ, and PC Tunney to cover it all for you here, so you don't have to watch it yourself. You can thank us later. Belal Muhammad said he doesn't care what you think anymore. He knows he's good, even if you don't. Well, I mean, yeah, he is the UFC welterweight champion, so there is some evidence to suggest he's pretty good. Somehow, though, it still feels like there are constantly a lot of doubts. You doubt he'll win his next fight. You doubt it'll be exciting, if he does. You doubt he'll sell many PPVs, you doubt he'll get in the UFC's good graces, you doubt he'll hang onto that belt for long … and on and on and on … So far, for the most part, he's proved you wrong. Still, that makes this weekend's title defense at UFC 315 against Jack Della Maddalena all the more important. It's the first time in a long while that Belal isn't the underdog. So … gotta win this one, right? Plus, what now for Bo Nickal? That's up to him. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
