Always choose peace in the midst of Chaos.  Don't fear volatility or Change embrace it! The Earthseed Rosary The Earthseed Rosary is a meditative tool designed to guide practitioners through the core tenets of Earthseed, fostering mindfulness, collective purpose, and adaptation in the face of Change. Each bead or segment invites reflection on an essential concept within the faith. The Bead of Change: Contemplate the ever-present nature of Change. Recite: “God is Change. I accept the shifting flow of life.” The Bead of Paradox: Reflect on holding chaos and order together in your heart. Recite: “I embrace both uncertainty and the work of building security.” The Bead of Water: Consider water's adaptability and strength. Recite: “Like water, I will shape and be shaped, persistent and yielding.” The Bead of Knowledge: Honor the pursuit of truth. Recite: “Knowledge is sacred. I seek, I question, I learn, and I adapt.” The Bead of Community: Focus on radical interdependence. Recite: “My survival is bound to the collective. We thrive together.” The Bead of Hyperempathy: Feel the shared joy and pain of others. Recite: “I am open to the suffering and hope of the human collective.” The Bead of Destiny: Envision the future Earthseed strives to build. Recite: “We shape God and are shaped in return. Together, we forge our destiny.” This rosary can be repeated as a meditation or used in communal gatherings, each bead prompting group reflection on how the tenets are lived out in daily actions. The sequence embodies Earthseed's demand for active engagement and adaptability, reinforcing the moral and spiritual foundation of the community. A Trickster can take many forms, for good or not.  The seemingly random nature of "God as Change" highlights that change isn't always good or predictable. Sometimes, it takes on a destructive, trickster-like form—as seen in the societal collapse, environmental disasters, and the violent conflicts of Octavia Butler's post-apocalyptic Parable novels. The Trickster's lessons are about adaptability, outsmarting a rigid system, and using cleverness to survive. This is precisely what Larkin, Lauren's kidnapped daughter, Natasha's Collab community, Lauren Olamina, and her followers must do to survive. The trickster's chaotic nature reflects the world's collapse, and the trickster's cleverness is a core quality of the characters who manage to survive it. The key to getting to to getting to the stars is survival and strength here on Earth. Because in the words of a character in the book  "We can't continue to F@@K up here on Earth and expect to take this same s@@t out there.  We won't even get back out there until we figure it out down here. Ain't nobody trying to be on the stuggle bus in zero gravity and minimal atmosphere. Ain't nobody got time for that. "Phoenicia Baxter, former MIT mechanical engineer professor. From combat engineer to creative conjurer, discover how Joseph Bolton merges magic, ancestry and the northern lights in his new-found love for writing folklore and fantasy.Joseph joined the US Army straight out of high school, and in his 25 years of service graduated from West Point and Ranger School and worked as a combat engineer (a role that involved building bridges and blowing things up), an infantry officer, and even a space operations officer. After the passing of his younger brother from ALS in 2013, Joseph felt a profound need to reflect on the value of time and growing older. This led him first to an expressive blog and eventually to the highly unusual creative project that would define his next chapter. The Old Grandmother's Tree collection of stories began life as a charming French Canadian folktale about farm animals (who surprisingly 'smoke cigars and drink wine'), and soon became a series of highly illustrated tales rooted in Joseph's ancestry and featuring magic, ghosts, and trickster animal characters – a magic shawl with the colour of the northern lights was a feature of the first short story and later became the genesis for the entire series. Joseph is a highly visual writer who sees stories unfold 'as a movie within my mind', and collaborates with artists Masami Kiyono and Natasha Pelley-Smith to create this unique hybrid format – a series so heavily illustrated it features close to 700 images across its first three volumes, blurring the line between a traditional novel and a graphic novel. This episode offers a compelling look at how creativity can emerge in unexpected moments and how personal loss can spark artistic expression. It's a must-listen for anyone interested in family history, creative late-blooming, and the surprising ways our life experiences shape our storytelling.Find the Old Grandmother's Tree books herecreativityfound.co.ukResearched, edited and produced by Claire Waite BrownMusic: Day Trips by Ketsa Undercover / Ketsa Creative Commons License Free Music Archive - Ketsa - Day TripsAffordably advertise on this podcast by emailing claire@creativityfound.co.uk, or book a call here. A few months ago, we were so thrilled to announce Paige's selection as one of Pillsbury House and Theatre's 2025 Naked Stages Artist Fellows. Well, now their performance, House of Masks, is premiering at Pillsbury House and Theatre in Minneapolis on Thursday, November 13! House of Masks invites audiences to “The Porch,” where three Black queer ancestors come out to play through the Afro-diasporic cultural tradition of masquerade. Tricksters, sirens, and aunties share stories that call us to remember what is sacred for here and now. Join us as Paige invites us behind the scenes to tell us all about the making of and inspiration behind this amazing new project and gives some pretty important advice to other young creatives embarking on a new adventure. Embracing chaos as a source for positive change is a powerful mindset shift. Instead of viewing disruption as a disaster to be resisted, you can learn to see it as the energy of possibility—a necessary period of deconstruction before a better creation can emerge. This process requires retaining hope and using the pause created by the chaos to your advantage. 1. Retaining Hope: The Inner Anchor in Chaos Focusing on Agency (What You Can Control): Chaos is defined by what's out of control. Retain hope by aggressively focusing on your immediate sphere of influence: your daily routine, your physical health, your choice of response, and your mindset. Small acts of personal order create pockets of hope. Practicing "Hopecore": Actively look for and amplify positive elements. This means limiting overwhelming news consumption, surrounding yourself with supportive people, and intentionally engaging in activities that bring you genuine joy or a sense of purpose. 2. Seeing Chaos as a Source for Change Chaos is, by definition, a state where old structures have broken down, making it the most fertile ground for transformation. The Deconstruction Principle: A chaotic event (a job loss, a global crisis, a relationship change) doesn't just destroy; it clears the slate of outdated assumptions, commitments, and habits that were holding you back. This forced deconstruction reveals what truly matter. 3. Bending Change for Positive: The "Positive Chaos" Mindset To "bend" the energy of chaos for positive outcomes, you must adopt an active, experimental approach. 4. Using the Pause: Transformational Stillness Chaos often imposes a pause—a stop to old momentum—which is a profound gift for reflection and intention. Mindful Observation: Use the pause for mindfulness, not just passive waiting. Observe your situation without judgment, letting go of the ego's need to control the external world. Identify the core values and priorities that the chaos has brought into sharp relief. Strategic Repositioning: A pause is not inaction; it is re-action. It's the time to plan your next move, not just repeat your last one. #AnxietyRelief #StressReduction #MentalHealthMatters #SelfSoothe #StopTheScroll #Mindfulness #MindfulLiving #InnerPeace #PresentMoment #BeHereNow #DailyCalm   NaNoWriMo is No Mo;; While no single entity has officially replaced NaNoWriMo, the closure spurred a surge of new and existing independent writing challenges designed to fill the void and continue the spirit of communal novel writing. Notable alternatives and new competitions that have emerged for November (and often for other months like April) include: Novel November (NovNov) by ProWritingAid: A 50,000-word challenge with workshops, daily co-writing, and a collaborative spirit, supported by various writing companies. Reedsy Novel Sprint: Follows the classic NaNoWriMo timeline and word count target but offers prizes and professional development support. AutoCrit's Novel 90 Writing Challenge: An extended challenge running for 90 days (often Oct 1 - Dec 31) to allow for a more sustainable pace in completing a first draft. The Order of the Written Word (O2W): An alternative founded by a former Municipal Liaison, specifically positioned as a space for authors against the use of AI. Other Platforms: Gamified platforms and tools like 4thewords, Shut Up & Write!, and Pacemaker continue to offer community-driven goal tracking and support. The Parable From Calculus of the Street to Blockchain Building A New World Ledger Verification at a Time. ”In the late hours, when Marcus recited proofs from memory and Sarah spun stories of exile and resilience, I remembered the calculus of the streets—the way information pulsed through networks invisible to those in power. We weren't inventing anything new; we were translating old survival strategies into modern code. We were reclaiming what was always ours: the right to build systems that served those who'd been left out.” Natasha Sanderson, The Collab; The Trickster: A Parable “The hypocrisy was sickening. Christian America, preaching order and self-sufficiency, was wholly dependent on the slave labor of the workhouses. In turn, its own supply lines were so weak they were being raided by common criminals. The system was eating itself alive. Their fixed world was a complete lie. We were witnessing the final, brutal truth of the Pox era: the collapse of centralized power created not just chaos, but a vacuum that anyone—whether a black market trader or a Trickster prophet —could exploit. This chaos, this failure of the old world order, was the fertile ground in which Earthseed was even able to survive. The more the surface world failed, the more vital our subterranean self-sufficiency, our digital Collab, and our hydroponic gardens became. We were a tiny, living island of order in a sea of unraveling lies.” Reality TV...Continue the Cycle of Absudity...Non-Black commentors may want to keep Dr. Wendy Osefo's name out of your mouth...The Belles from Celebration of Life to Glendale Man-trum...Reconciliation through Weed Muffins... One of the most brilliant and successful musicians of the modern era, Jackson was also a liminal figure sans pareil, a shapeshifter who defied the binary categories through which we order the human world. His art and persona together enacted a transformation that can only be called shamanic. About Our Guest: Shannon Taggart is a photographer and author based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Feeling anxious about re-entering the world? You're not alone. The pandemic changed everything, and it's okay to feel overwhelmed. Here's a quick guide to help you overcome the fear of isolation: Acknowledge Your Feelings: It's okay to not be okay. Your fear is a normal reaction to an abnormal time. Start Small: Don't rush. Begin with small, manageable steps, like a short walk or a low-key coffee with one friend. Set Boundaries: It's completely fine to say no. Prioritize what makes you feel safe and comfortable. Be kind to yourself and celebrate every small victory. You've got this!   Suppose Octavia Butler had been able to receive effective treatment for her anxiety and found a way to manage her mental health. In that case, it's very possible she could have overcome these creative blocks. A mind not constantly fighting against itself has more freedom to create. Anxiety can be paralyzing; it can make the act of putting words on a page feel like an insurmountable task. By alleviating some of that emotional and psychological burden, she would have had more energy and focus. The act of writing, while never easy, might have become less of a battle and more of a sustainable, productive process. This alone could have allowed her to continue the series. I continue the Parable series using AI. In Chapter 8, we meet Natasha Sanderson, a brilliant programmer who, with her friends, creates blockchain technology. Realizing the danger of their invention in a society riddled with rising nationalism, they go underground to build a hidden, self-sustaining city in Area 51.   I talk about Pump and Dump Stock Scams. Eventually, a red being popped up at the side of his bed and shouted ‘FA!' in his face. It was the culmination of many other unsettling experiences. The family later returned to North America, living in various locations.Later, as a young man while training in Buddhist meditation techniques his encounters with Otherworldly beings began to reignite. In times of rising frustration over the state of nations, times of personal, ecological, societal, and planetary impasse, when cycles of senseless suffering seemingly repeat themselves over and over, and all the global upheaval still isn't bringing about change... in times when stuck energies need to move and forces that have been restrained for generations long to break free, the myths offer visions of roarers, bellowers, trumpeters, and conch-blasters. These movers and shakers do more than release pent up energy. They awaken, they transform, and they announce the transition from one world to the next. So the howling storm gods of the Vedas "move the immovable" and the Goddess herself trembles the worlds with her cosmic roaring laughter and ushers in a new age. But the roar of the goddess is not just the roar of speaking truth to external powers — it is also an internal reckoning, a moment of reconciliation that takes place within us — a recognition of all those places in us that have gone dormant and need waking and all those old patterns that need to be shaken free. As bodies try to somatically process and metabolize the times we are living in, sometimes we need a good mother roar.... and we can learn much from traditions that harness the power of uttered sound to invoke help, to guard against intrusion, to dispel negative forces, and to carry us into states of deeper connectivity. Ready yourself for roars and bellows, trumpets of judgement, announcing angels, and a deep dive into the Norse Ragnarok myth with Rune Rasmussen of the Nordic animism channel. Because sometimes you gotta go full apocalyptic to meet the energy of the times. Featuring music from (and an interview with) Sakha songstress Snow Raven, songs, yelps, bellows, and shrieks from Marya Stark and Travis Puntarelli, appropriately doomy guitar from Sunny Reinhardt, and angelic calls from Jeunae Elita, this episode is designed to MOVE STUCK ENERGY, and then ultimately to channel it in creative and life-affirming ways. An Infinite Path
Archetypes Across Ages

An Infinite Path

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 29, 2025 8:23

An archetype is a pattern older than any one culture or story, a primordial shape in the collective psyche that keeps reappearing in myths. or fairy tales, dreams, or art and proliferates across geography and ages. Characters, images, and motifs that recur not because someone invented them, but because they are expressions of structures somewhat timelessly present in the human mind. They're not rigid scripts; but more like the strongest gravitational fields or vortexes in the landscape of human imagination. They pull stories, symbols, and personalities into recognizable forms - humanoid, animal, god, but the details differ through civilizations. As shape-shifters, they don't exist as neat, singular entities, but as dynamics of energy that appear in different guises depending on the time or location. A Hero in one culture may be a dragon-slayer; in another, a wandering ascetic. A Great Mother may manifest as a caring elderly woman, devouring witch, or even the nourishing Earth. From a more mystical vantage, archetypes can be seen as the language of the collective unconscious. Meaning the hidden mind of humanity dreaming itself across millennia. They are the bridges between the individual psyche and the great ocean of shared meaning. And from a metaphysical perspective, archetypes often reveal themselves with uncanny vividness: appearing not as personal hallucinations but as presences woven into the deep grammar of being. Carl Jung, who popularized the term in the modern West, saw archetypes as psychic blueprints. Examples such as The Hero, the Trickster, or the Shadow are not just characters in stories, but living energies that animate our behavior, our fears, or our longings. When one encounters an archetype in any medium of story - in fiction or nonfiction real life, etc... it resonates because it is not foreign—it is something already living within all of us. They are recurrences that stir beneath the surface of culture and psyche, or can also be thought of as great masks through which the human spirit speaks.———An Infinite Path podcast official URL http://www.aninfinitepath.comSpotify | iTunes | YouTube | Overcast FM | Stitcher | Player FM

Send Catherine a text MessageIn this episode, we take a look at the fairy tale "The Valiant Tailor" or the "The Brave Tailor," collected by the Brothers Grimm. Honestly, I almost dismissed this story as a bit too silly and I didn't like the tailor much at the outset. But what you don't like about a story can be a good prod to look more closely...The tailor's adventures opened reflections on trickster strategies, courage, and the power of imagination. All useful bits to put in your pocket when you're ready to leave home.Special thanks to Gary Diggins for granting me permission to include his story about leaving home in this episode.Support the showEmail Catherine at drcsvehla@mythicmojo.comPost a positive review on apple podcasts! In this episode of The Sacred Speaks, John sits down with Adele Getty—spiritual teacher, author, and cultural bridge—to explore the urgent, timeless wisdom of her book A Sense of the Sacred. Though written nearly 30 years ago, Adele's work feels more relevant than ever in a world hungry for meaning, ritual, and reconnection with the more-than-human world. Together, John and Adele reflect on the lost world of animism, the power of symbolic action, and the aching grief of cultural severance from the sacred. Adele shares her path as a modern-day rite-maker, offering personal stories, cross-cultural insights, and poetic invitations to remember what it means to live in a living world. The conversation moves fluidly between anthropology, personal spirituality, indigenous wisdom, and the transformative potential of ceremony—especially in a time of ecological crisis and soul loss. This episode is both an intellectual dialogue and a soul invocation. If you've ever felt the quiet mourning of a life unlived—or sensed the sacred just beneath the surface of ordinary things—this conversation is for you. Key Themes: Animism as a lived cosmology—not a belief system, but a relationship The grief of modernity and the longing for reconnection Ceremony as both personal healing and collective repair The sacred role of women, humor, and voice in ritual How to begin building meaningful ceremonies in contemporary life Why symbolic acts matter in a disenchanted world Reflections on the psychedelic resurgence and ritual ethics Episode Timeline: (00:00) Introduction and Guest Announcement (00:37) Podcast Updates and Announcements (02:25) Introducing Adele Getty (04:02) The Book as a Lament and a Love Song (09:05) Adele's Personal Background and Influences (11:56) Animism and the Cosmology of Connection (16:44) Ceremony as Daily Practice and Communal Healing (24:54) Spirit, Voice, and Song in Ritual Work (35:32) Historical Context and Cultural Amnesia (47:34) The Psychedelic Explosion and Western Disconnection (50:26) Modern Psychedelics, Integration, and Ethical Ceremony (51:24) Nature as Teacher and Ceremony Ground (52:35) Creating Sacred Spaces in Ordinary Life (01:14:21) The Role of Humor, Play, and the Trickster (01:18:51) Symbolic Acts and Soul Reenchantment (01:19:57) Final Reflections on Ceremony and Belonging (01:26:44) Closing Thoughts and Upcoming Offerings Connect with Adele Getty & The Limina Foundation: Website: https://www.liminafoundation.org/ Facebook: @liminafoundation Instagram: @liminafoundation

Hey babes, here you go, another excellent human delivered right to your earbuds, for all your listening pleasure! Rohini Walker is, quite simply, someone who will dive into the darkness, the silence, with each and every one of us, and then RE-MEMBER us into our bones, our bodies, our SELVES! In that way she is a maker of souls, a healer of humans, an excavator and reclaimer of US, of what we are and what we can BECOME! She absolutely does not shy away from the deep, dark, because she knows, that all too often, that is where the treasure lies! And her miracle moment, well, that she shares is one from her childhood, one that keeps her going and reminds her that the separation we think we feel and we sense from birth, is all, in the end, an ILLUSION! To read up on this treasure finder, here is her website! To check out her Substack, click here! And guess what? She has her own podcast, Root + Rise, so stop everything you are doing and listen here! And BTW, here is the link to her Publication, "Lux Arcana", which is so dreamy and delicious it might just make you dance in the streets! Your bit of beauty is this gorgeous article about Rohini and Chandra, and their love for eachother. I myself believe that Stories Make This World, unlike Trickster, but bring them both together and you're practically unstoppable. (thanks Lewis Hyde for Trickster Makes This World, but I prefer stories!) PLEASE RATE AND REVIEW...it makes my heart happy! xoxo

Saturday and the rest of the previous week are for podcasting... not; quickness is the essence of war,"  Sun Tzu Emphasizes the importance of strategic movement and speed in warfare. It suggests that by avoiding direct confrontation in areas where the enemy expects you and instead striking where they are unprepared, you can gain a significant advantage. This, combined with swift action, allows for the element of surprise and can overwhelm the opponent. Avoiding predictable patterns and exploiting the enemy's weaknesses. It means understanding their deployments, intentions, and potential vulnerabilities, then positioning your forces to attack where they are least prepared.
