We are the Village that supports you being the amazing person you are. In Polynesia, there is a saying "It takes a Village to raise a child." Here at The Village HI, it literally "Takes One To Raise One." As much as we embrace family, everyone's definition of what family is can alter. Some may identify with immediate family, sports teams, church, the gym or something else. Regardless of who you consider your Village, "It Takes One to Raise One."

Winifred Reilly: It takes only one spouse to save a marriage

Conventional wisdom tells us it takes two people with an equal commitment to save a marriage. Winifred Reilly does not share that way of thinking, and she can prove it. Living in a 10-year static marriage, she applied her therapeutic skills to her own relationship journey. More than 35 years later, her marriage is stronger than ever, she continues to use these techniques very successfully in her therapy practice, and she has written a book, “It Takes One to Tango,” which demonstrates how to rescue a marriage with almost no help from your spouse. In this Smart Sex, Smart Love podcast, Reilly, a licensed marriage and family therapist for the past 40 years, talks about helping couples build strong, loving relationships – no matter how frustrated they are, or how long they've been stuck. One partner can lead the necessary steps to achieve far-reaching positive and sustainable change, even when the other partner does not join the effort. Once you let go of the “two to tango” paradigm, you are in a much more powerful position to affect change. Stop trying to change your partner and focus on what you can change about you that will make a difference in your relationship. To gain an in-depth understanding of “it takes one to tango,” listen to this podcast.

Zach & Zo finally go on a roadtrip to one of the most corrupt cities in America: Gotham City as imagined from the mind of Tim Burton. They investigate sightings of a mysterious figure in the Gotham underworld. A man with enormous strength and seemingly impenetrable skin. Most importantly, rumors say that he glides around the city with wings of a giant bat. Also threatening the city is a mob boss who dresses in clown make up murdering people on a whim in broad day light. Zach & Zo talk about what the citizens can do when faced with such ignominious figures. www.backlookcinema.comEmail: fanmail@backlookcinema.comTwitter: @backlookcinemaFacebook: The Back Look Cinema Podcast Instagram: backlookcinemapodcastThe song "It Takes One" by Jes Smith provided by Zapsplat.com

Hello there my babies! Are you excited about the continuation of our discovering the Naked Truth: our relationship discord in your sex life episodes?!  Well, you are in for a treat because we will talk about two more kinds of people you may want to steer away from today. I am also sharing tips and tricks from my personal experience on how to deal with these kinds of partners.  I'll answer these common questions... Who are the ‘busy beavers'? How should I know if my partner is a ‘dick'? How can I close the gap between me and my ‘busy' partner? Why does my partner doesn't want to have sex with me? How can I break the bad behavior pattern? You will learn... Understanding the ‘busy beavers' How to determine whether your partners are ‘busy beavers' or ‘dicks' Closing the gap between you and your ‘busy' partner? The reason why your partner does not want to do it with you Breaking the pattern- why and how? Grab these takeaways... Using the term low libido is a label that can be damaging to a woman's sexiness. Sex drive is something that can change, whereas libido, can sound like an awful death sentence. Ask: What is up? Let that question sit, and then let it sit for a while. Fix yourself before you go fixing your partner. What you can do: Break the pattern. You may bring anything up and then he gets mad at you.  In these times, you need to break up the pattern a little bit.  Makeup sex can be exciting, but this cycle is just going to perpetuate then eventually get someone hurt.  Recommended Book:  It Takes One to Tango: How I Rescued My Marriage with (Almost) No Help from My Spouse—and How You Can, Too a Book by Winifred M. My interview with Susan Isaacs was a special recording that happened earlier in the year at an event at Temple Emanu-El in New York City for their women's group. We did this in front of a live audience, which was a lot of fun. Susan is the best-selling author of 14 novels including her latest, It Takes One to Know One. Her literary accomplishments are beyond impressive! Her novels have been turned into movies with huge stars, she has reviewed books for the largest newspapers in the country, been a political speechwriter, senior magazine editor, recipient of a number of awards, and is the chairperson of Poets & Writers. I loved talking to Susan about combining research and empathy to create captivating narratives, getting to "live" a life other than your own through creating characters on the page, and the irreplaceable pleasure of picking up a book.

A kitchen in Melbourne's Footscray provided the humble origins for Camp Cope's Kelly-Dawn Helmrich, Georgia Maq and Sarah Thompson. Since joining forces in 2015, the trio haven't wasted a second of their time in the spotlight, using their newfound influence to launch the It Takes One campaign. Aimed at stopping harassment of women at live music gigs, Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich has said of the project: “We have a platform now where people listen to us so we want to give back to other people who don’t have a stage to speak on.”

Where does fairness go when we take responsibility upon ourselves to course correct a relationship? How are relationships like velcro? One belief about relationships that many people have backwards. It's more important to know what to do when we disagree than trying to avoid disagreements altogether. And so much more... Kathryn interviews psychotherapist Winifred Reilly MA, MFT, author of It Takes One to Tango: How I Rescued My Marriage With (Almost) No Help From My Spouse – and How You Can, Too. What happens when your marriage is broken but you're the only one who wants to fix it? Reilly challenges the widely held notion that it takes two eager and willing partners to turn a troubled marriage around, assuring unhappy partners that one person alone can initiate far-reaching positive change in a marriage. Kathryn interviews Neal Barnard MD, NY Times bestselling author of The Cheese Trap: How Breaking a Surprising Addiction Will Help You Lose Weight, Gain Energy, and Get Healthy. Dr. Barnard has published more than 70 clinical research studies and dietary reviews and is filming his fourth PBS special about diet and health.
