Achieve Results NOW! Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 18, 2025 16:14

In this Episode: Episode Theme: Discipline Over Motivation Hosts Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt discuss how consistency is the vital key to progress (the Kaizen principle). The goal is to overcome the fear of "forever" by focusing on small, daily movements rather than massive, unsustainable efforts. Step 1: Define Your "Micro Practice" Create a habit that is linked to a larger goal but is so small that it is impossible to fail. Too Small to Fail: Don't aim for a marathon; aim for putting on your shoes. If you do it once, it means little, but over time, the compound interest is massive. Focus on the Start: The hardest part is the first 10 seconds. Focus entirely on getting over the hump of starting (e.g., getting on the treadmill for just 2 minutes). Examples: One extra phone call, deep breaths, or reading a single page. Step 2: Time Block Your Priorities Treat your new habit like a non-negotiable appointment with yourself. Be Realistic: Don't block out for 4 hours if you don't have them. Block out a specific, realistic window (e.g., 15 minutes). Remove the Decision: By scheduling it, you remove the mental energy of deciding if or when you will do it. It becomes automatic. Non-Negotiable: Treat this time slot with the same respect you give a doctor's appointment or a child's game. Step 3: Habit Stack & Remove Friction Anchor your new micro practice to a "Bedrock Habit" - something you already do automatically every day (like brushing your teeth, pouring coffee, or getting out of bed). The Formula: Identify a trigger (Bedrock Habit) Perform the Micro Practice immediately after. "Set Up Your Next Shot": Use the billiards strategy. Prepare the night before to remove friction (e.g., lay out your running clothes so you don't spend 15 minutes looking for shoes).1 The Supersets Analogy: Like in weightlifting, pair two activities together so the momentum of one carries you into the other.   Key Quote "Consistency in itself isn't a bad thing for progress, it really is a great thing for progress... If you want to achieve results, you have to be consistent."   ARN Suggested Reading: Blessings In the Bullshit: A Guided Journal for Finding the BEST In Every Day – by Mark Cardone & Theron Feidt https://www.amazon.com/Blessings-Bullshit-Guided-Journal-Finding/dp/B09FP35ZXX/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=blessings+in+the+bullshit&qid=1632233840&sr=8-1 Full List of Recommended Books: https://www.achieveresultsnow.com/readers-are-leaders Questions? 1.   Do you have a question you want answered in a future podcast? 2.   Go to www.AchieveResultsNow.com to submit. In this Episode: Episode: "Refocus to Rise" Series, Episode 2 Hosts: Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt Topic: Boosting Your Body and Energy The hosts frame this episode as a guide for anyone needing a "reset," particularly for the new year. The central idea is to shift focus away from traditional health metrics like weight and instead prioritize energy, which they define as the capacity to do important daily tasks, like playing with kids or being present with a spouse. Here are the three main steps discussed for increasing and managing your energy: 1. Audit Your Energy, Not Your Weight The hosts argue that focusing on the scale is "backwards" because energy is a more immediate and relevant metric. Weight can be misleading (e.g., a bodybuilder's high muscle mass), but you always know how your energy feels right now. Action: For one week, keep a simple log (in a notebook or phone) of when you feel low energy. Goal: Look for the "cause and effect." Do you crash at 10:30 a.m. every day? It might be the sugary donut you ate earlier. Is it after a specific meal? Tweak: Once you find a pattern, make one small tweak (e.g., swap the donut for nuts) and see how it impacts your energy levels. 2. Move with Purpose, Not Pressure This step is about integrating movement consistently without feeling overwhelmed. Action: Define your "non-negotiable minimums" for movement. This could be a 20-minute walk or 20 squats. Setting a small, achievable minimum often leads to doing more. Action: Use "habit stacking." Attach a small movement habit to something you already do. For example, do 20 squats while your coffee brews or you're waiting for the microwave. Action: Celebrate the action, not the result. Instead of focusing on the mirror or the scale, celebrate the fact that you were consistent and "did the thing" you said you would do. 3. Prioritize Recovery and Sleep The hosts emphasize that movement and workouts tear muscles down; recovery is where "the magic happens." Action: Create a "shutdown ritual." This is a 15–30-minute wind-down period before bed to relax your body (e.g., light stretching, reading a book, putting your phone away). Action: Schedule your wind-down. Put it in your calendar or set an alarm (e.g., 9:15 p.m.) to remind yourself to begin the ritual, as it's easy to forget when busy. Action: Focus on sleep quality over quantity. While the amount of sleep varies for everyone (it's not a weakness to need 8 hours), the quality is key. Ensure your room is dark, quiet, and cool. You can use trackers (watches, rings) to monitor your REM and deep sleep to see what's working.   ARN Suggested Reading: Blessings In the Bullshit: A Guided Journal for Finding the BEST In Every Day – by Mark Cardone & Theron Feidt https://www.amazon.com/Blessings-Bullshit-Guided-Journal-Finding/dp/B09FP35ZXX/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=blessings+in+the+bullshit&qid=1632233840&sr=8-1 Full List of Recommended Books: https://www.achieveresultsnow.com/readers-are-leaders Questions? 1.   Do you have a question you want answered in a future podcast? 2.   Go to www.AchieveResultsNow.com to submit. Can hunting truly support conservation? Does fortress conservation offer a sustainable solution for protecting wildlife in the long term? And how do we balance the needs of impoverished communities with the preservation of fragile ecosystems? Our guest today is Mike Arnold, a Distinguished Research Professor and Head of the Department of Genetics at the University of Georgia and a lifelong hunter. Mike has published over 220 articles in outdoor magazines and hundreds of research papers on conservation biology. He's also the author of "Bringing Back the Wild: Stories from Revitalised Ecosystems Around the World and How Sport Hunting Supports Them". In our conversation, Mike tackles these difficult questions head-on, drawing from his experiences across the globe.Mike explains how private hunting concessions in places like Mozambique have maintained stable rhino populations whilst nearby national parks have lost over 90% of their animals to poaching. He shares fascinating insights from his travels to locations as varied as Mexico's Yucatan, Scotland's hunting estates, and Sweden's forests - including his quest for a rare red-coloured West African Savannah buffalo. What emerges is a nuanced picture of conservation that refuses easy answers. Mike discusses the biological realities of managing herbivore populations, the importance of protecting entire ecosystems rather than just game species, and how economic benefits to landowners create incentives for habitat protection. The conversation takes an honest look at challenges facing hunting and conservation. Mike and I discuss the troubling demographics of hunting organisations, where finding anyone under 50 is increasingly difficult. We explore the tensions between rewilding advocates and traditional land users, the concept of "fortress conservation", and whether current systems can survive long-term pressures from growing inequality. We argue that addressing poverty is essential for conservation success, and that getting young people engaged with nature, not TikTok and PlayStation, is crucial for the future. Whether you hunt or not, this episode offers valuable perspectives on one of conservation's most contentious subjects.Buy Mike's Book: https://amzn.to/3WLkFe2Subscribe to Tommy's Outdoors: Conservation and Science NewsletterSupport the Podcast and Buy Me a Coffee.Recommended Books: tommysoutdoors.com/booksMerch: tommysoutdoors.com/shopFollow Tommy's Outdoors on Bluesky, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and FacebookThe guest featured in this episode paid a nominal guesting fee. Achieve Results NOW! Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 4, 2025 20:06

In this Episode: Episode: "Refocus to Rise" Series (Part 1) Hosts: Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt This episode kicks off a new end-of-year series called "Refocus to Rise," designed to help listeners reset and build momentum for the new year. The hosts, Mark and Theron, emphasize that while the new year is a natural time for a fresh start, these principles can be applied at any time. The topic of this first episode is Mindset, which the hosts identify as the most important starting point for any change. The goal is to "clear the clutter"—the negative thoughts, habits, and beliefs tied to past failures—before building new goals. Here are the three actionable steps outlined in the episode: 3 Steps to Refocus Your Mindset Step 1: The Setback Audit This step is designed to turn past disappointments into empowerment. 1.   Identify: Get a piece of paper and write down your "top three" setbacks, failures, or disappointments from the past year. 2.   Learn: Next to each setback, write, "This happened and I learned..." and fill in the blank with the specific lesson you gained from the experience. 3.   Release: Once you have extracted the lessons, symbolically destroy the paper (shred it or safely burn it). This signifies that you are done with the negative emotion, have kept the lesson, and are moving on. Step 2: Reframe Your "I Can't" Statements This step focuses on changing your self-limiting language. Become aware of when you use negative or limiting phrases like "I can't." Immediately reframe the statement. For example, change "I have a big problem" to "I have a challenge to overcome." A powerful technique suggested by Mark is to reframe "I can't" into an empowering question: "How could I?" This shifts your brain from a state of limitation to one of active problem-solving. Step 3: Establish the Single Domino This step is about building momentum through small, focused actions. Avoid the common trap of creating a massive, complex plan with multiple new habits at once, which leads to overwhelm and inaction. Instead, identify the one single thing you can do right now that will make an impact and build momentum. Examples include drinking one glass of water every morning or walking for 15 minutes. Focus on successfully doing that one thing for 30 days. This "single domino" will create momentum and make adding the next habit easier. Key Takeaways On Hearing Old Advice: If you hear a concept you've heard before, don't shut down by thinking, "I know this." Instead, ask, "What can I learn from this?" to stay open to new nuances. The Power of Momentum: The hosts reference a key lesson (from Tony Robbins) to "never leave the site of setting a goal without taking at least one action." This immediate, small step is crucial for creating the momentum needed to follow through. This episode serves as the foundation for the rest of the "Refocus to Rise" series, which will continue in the following weeks. Is the resumption of commercial whaling inevitable? What hidden geopolitical forces are shaping international whale conservation efforts? Let's dive (pun not intended) into the complex world of whale conservation with marine scientist Dr Peter Corkeron. In our conversation, Peter uncovers the surprising connections between military bases, national security, and the fate of the world's largest mammals. From the history of industrial whaling to the current state of whale populations, our guest provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges facing whale conservation today. He explains how some whale species are making an impressive comeback while others teeter on the brink of extinction. But the real story goes beyond biology! Learn how US military interests in Japan may be influencing whaling policies, and why anti-whaling efforts that seemed successful for decades may now be faltering. As commercial whaling threatens to resume, we argue for a new approach to whale protection. We discuss the limitations of current conservation strategies, the complex motivations behind pro-whaling interests and why simply allowing whaling to "fizzle out" is no longer a viable option. Finally, Peter offers his perspective on potential solutions, addressing underlying geopolitical factors and advocating for policy changes to protect whale populations more effectively.Further reading:Losing the Whales: How the Anti-Whaling Narrative Has FailedThe Return of WhalingWhat US Militarism Has to Do With Japan's Quest to Slaughter More WhalesSubscribe to Tommy's Outdoors: Conservation and Science NewsletterSupport the Podcast and Buy Me a Coffee.Recommended Books: tommysoutdoors.com/booksMerch: tommysoutdoors.com/shopFollow Tommy's Outdoors on Bluesky, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and FacebookMentioned in this episode:This is the Conservation and Science podcast Replay series, a curated collection of best episodes from last year. In this Episode: In this episode of the "Achieve Results NOW!" podcast, hosts Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt discuss how to identify and overcome the weaknesses and limitations that are holding you back. They introduce the core concept using an analogy: successful people have their foot on the accelerator (motivation, taking action), but many also unknowingly have their other foot on the brake (limitations, missing skills, or a bad attitude). This podcast provides a tactical plan to identify and remove that brake. The hosts note that many people set the same goals year after year (like fitness) and fail, leading them to believe they are the roadblock and give up. The solution is to identify the specific skills or attitudes that are missing. They outline three steps to overcome these limitations: 1.   Seek Specific, Candid Feedback: This is the hardest step. Ask 3 people you trust for honest, behavioral feedback (e.g., "How is my approach with people?"). The most important part is to listen to the feedback without getting defensive or letting your ego get in the way. 2.   Look at the Data (Self-Check): Objectively review your results in key areas of life (finances, health, career). Identify your "frustration list"—the areas where you're stuck—and then determine the specific skills or habits you're lacking. 3.   Prioritize and Create an Action Plan: Take ownership and avoid a "victim" mentality. Review your list of weaknesses and pare it down to the top 2-3. Then, pick just one to focus on, and create a 30-60 day action plan to develop new habits and overcome it. They also note that sometimes the right action is to delegate a weakness that isn't the best use of your time. The episode concludes by emphasizing that taking focused action on a single weakness is the key to breaking through and achieving results. What are the ethical considerations when eradicating invasive species from an island? How do you develop wireless technology to monitor hundreds of traps across difficult terrain? Why do conservation projects like this cost so much more than people expect? These are some of the questions we explore in our conversation about the LIFE Raft project on Rathlin Island, Northern Ireland's only inhabited offshore island. Our guest is David Tosh, a Lecturer in Terrestrial Ecology at the School of Geography and Environmental Sciences, Ulster University. David led the ambitious effort to eradicate feral ferrets and brown rats from Rathlin to protect internationally important seabird colonies. The ferrets were introduced in the 1980s to control rabbits but instead devastated ground-nesting bird populations. David explains the complexities of targeting two species simultaneously using different methods, the development of wireless platforms to monitor traps remotely, and where the money actually goes in projects like this. Success came faster than expected, with Manx shearwaters breeding on Rathlin for the first time in decades, just months after the eradication was completed.Beyond the technical achievements, our conversation explores the social dimensions that often determine whether conservation projects succeed or fail. David shares why the most important measure of success isn't just the return of seabirds, but whether the organisations involved can maintain trust and partnership with the islanders. We discuss the frustrations of five-year funding cycles for projects that require decades of commitment, and what it takes to ensure Rathlin remains ferret-free and rat-free for generations to come.Subscribe to Tommy's Outdoors: Conservation and Science NewsletterSupport the Podcast and Buy Me a Coffee.Recommended Books: tommysoutdoors.com/booksMerch: tommysoutdoors.com/shopFollow Tommy's Outdoors on Bluesky, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and FacebookMentioned in this episode:DisclaimerThe views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the individual participants and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of any organisation. In this Episode: In this episode of the "Achieve Results Now" podcast, hosts Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt discuss the tactical topic of "getting more done in less time." They frame this as a follow-up to their previous episode on finding peace, noting that productivity creates the "margin" in life needed for peace. The hosts identify that people often waste time by filling whatever deadline they are given (e.g., taking a full week for a task that only requires one day). To combat this, they outline three main steps: 1.   Shrink Your Deadlines: Intentionally give yourself less time to complete a task. This forces you to be more focused and intense. They compare this to exercise, noting that a short, 15-minute workout or a 10-minute walk is better than doing nothing because you feel you don't have a full hour. 2.   Use the Timer Trick: Set a physical timer to create focused work "sprints." The hosts give examples, such as a sales job that had a mandatory, highly productive 1-hour "prospecting hour" or using the four minutes a microwave is running to complete other small chores. This creates intensity and focus. 3.   Limit Your To-Do List: The hosts warn that long to-do lists (e.g., 100 items) are overwhelming and lead to procrastination or "busy work"—doing easy, low-priority tasks first. They advocate for identifying your "top three" most important priorities (A1, A2, A3) for the day and focusing on those to ensure you are moving the needle on what matters, rather than just staying busy. The episode concludes by stating that the goal of these strategies is to help listeners get more done so they have more time for peace and other good things. 470: 3 Action Plans for Living in Peace

Achieve Results NOW! Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 14, 2025 22:11

In this Episode: This podcast episode of the "Achieve Results Now podcast" focuses on the importance of cultivating peace and stability not as an end goal, but as a crucial mindset for effective achievers and leaders. The hosts, Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt, dispel the misconception that one cannot be both highly successful and peaceful, arguing that peace enhances leadership and achievement. The goal is to provide listeners with actionable steps to increase their mental "margin" and handle unexpected daily events without losing their stability. Core Theme: Peace as a Tool for Achievement The hosts stress that peaceful people are more effective leaders because their stability builds trust. They view peace not as an "on/off switch," but as a dial that can be adjusted. Establishing a peaceful mindset helps listeners be more effective and happier, enabling them to deal with the unexpected rather than constantly being in a "reaction zone." 3 Action Steps for Living with More Peace 1. Establish a No-Reaction Zone in the Morning Own your morning: Dedicate the first part of your day (ideally an hour but start with 15–30 minutes) to yourself before engaging with external demands. Avoid immediate stress: Do not check email, text messages, or social media during this time. Focus on fulfillment and direction: Use the time for positive activities like: Reviewing and physically rewriting your top goals. Practicing gratitude. Taking a quick walk to get fresh air and sunlight. Build in flexibility: Avoid creating an "end-to-end" morning schedule that easily crumbles. View this time as flexible and enjoyable, not as another stressful "to-do" item. 2. Implement the Pause and Ask Rule This step is about creating space between a trigger and your response to maintain control over your emotional state. Take a quick breath and pause when hit with an external challenge (e.g., traffic, an inconsiderate person, an employee with a problem). Ask yourself critical questions: "Is this worth my peace?" and "Is this worth me getting upset about?" Recognize the difference between intention and action: Many issues are due to thoughtlessness, not malicious intent. Choose your response: By pausing, you prevent your ego from taking control, allowing you to choose a peaceful, measured response rather than reacting automatically, especially in trivial matters like traffic or minor arguments. 3. Schedule Unscheduled Time This is a time management technique to create vital "margin" in your day, preventing you from constantly rushing. Build buffer time into your schedule: If a task or commute takes 15 minutes, schedule 30 minutes. Actively block out time: Use your calendar to schedule these buffers as "run over time," "catch up time," or "flex time." Use the time wisely: If the time isn't needed for recovery, plan to use it for constructive, peaceful activities like reading a book, listening to educational content, or tackling a task for the next day. This prevents you from defaulting to social media scrolling and further enhances your peace. 469: Truth over EGO

Achieve Results NOW! Podcast

In this Episode: This podcast episode of the "Achieve Results Now podcast" focuses on the importance of overcoming your ego to find clarity and achieve better life results. Hosts Mark Cardone and Theron Feidt argue that people's need to be "right" often prevents them from discovering the truth and improving. Key Theme: Truth Over Ego The hosts share the central quote for the episode: "Don't let your need to be right be more important than your need to find out what's true." They explain that the need to be right comes from ego, a subconscious self-protection mechanism that makes people think being wrong means they are a "bad person." The podcast then outlines a three-step guide to help listeners move past their ego and embrace a growth mindset. 3-Step Guide to Overcoming Ego 1. Practice the "I Could Be Wrong" Mindset Acknowledge the Possibility: Internalize the idea that you might be incorrect, rather than using the phrase as a disclaimer before arguing your point. Shift Your Goal from Winning to Learning: Instead of approaching discussions with the goal to dominate or win the argument, approach them with the goal to learn new information. This change in mindset lowers your defenses and opens you up to growth. The hosts emphasize that it takes courage to admit, "I don't know the answer to that." 2. Focus on Understanding, Not Just Arguing Listen Actively: Pay attention to what the other person is saying with the intent to understand, not just to prepare your reply. Ask Clarifying Questions: Use open-ended questions like, "Can you help me understand that?" or "Tell me more about that?" to dig deeper into the issue. Summarize/Restate Their Points: Verbalize your understanding of their points or challenges. This helps them feel heard and allows them to correct you, leading to mutual clarity and better relationships. This concept is likened to the medical idea of being "prescriptive" instead of just handing someone your "glasses." 3. See Mistakes and Disagreements as Opportunities Change "Problems" to "Opportunities" or "Challenges": This slight change in language lowers the temperature of the situation and reflects the truth that challenges are a chance to learn and get better. Embrace Humility (and being wrong as a win): You learn far more from your mistakes than your successes. Being a "lifelong learner" requires being comfortable with being wrong. Model the Behavior: Show others it's okay to be wrong. When you are corrected, thank the person for helping you learn and grow. This is especially important for parents to do with their children to build trust. The hosts conclude by encouraging listeners to apply these steps to have more productive conversations and achieve better results in all areas of life, not just money or career.
