Most people's perspective of Minor League Baseball probably comes from one of many baseball movies, like “Bull Durham,” “Major League” or “Trouble With the Curve.” But is that what the game is really like at the lower levels of professional baseball? Luke Ritter is entering his third season in the New York Mets organization, and he's thrilled to be around the game. Yes, there are challenges associated with being a professional ballplayer out of the limelight. But Ritter is excited to be playing the game he loves and getting paid to do it. You'll love this young man, and maybe you'll rekindle your love of the game after listening to him.

Welcome back to Death by Champagne, the podcast here to keep you up at night! We have a super long episode for you guys, so get ready. Liv covers numerous cases along Highway 20 in Oregon that all have one thing in common, some connection to John Ackroyd. Mack brings you a really fun episode about a local mad doctor, specifically Dr. Joseph McDowell. You’ll hear all about his history, his work, and some illegal activities that led to his demise. And to wrap it up we get a ghost story of the maiden in the cave. This episode contains foul language, topics regarding murder, rape, and lots of old time doctor stuff. We’ll do our best to stay on track, but the bottles are popped! Adam sits down with Dr. Luke Ritter to discuss his forthcoming book “The Origins of Nativism in the Antebellum West”. Dr. Ritter completed his Ph.D. in American History at Saint Louis University, and currently teaches at Troy University. We spend a few minutes talking about his personal journey that lead to his interest in human behavior and American History. And, since I've never written a book, we talk about that process a little before we get into the concept of Nativism. I think this interview really challenged my thoughts on immigration. The conclusion applies some of those lessons to our current immigration situation. I hope you'll listen, and learn something new like I have.Tedx Talk on YouTubeTwitter @LukeRitter6Troy University profileIf you like what I'm doing here, please rate me on Apple Podcasts, five stars would be AWESOME.
