One of the most dramatic events in sports is the home run. In a single instant, leads can change hands and games can be won or lost. Yet the home run hasn't always been what it is today. The rules surrounding home runs have changed, in some cases dramatically. Perhaps the biggest change has been the strategy surrounding home runs. Advanced statistical analysis has changed the approach to home runs so much that the game wouldn't be recgonizable from someone in the late 19th century. Learn more about home runs, how they have changed, and how they have influenced the game of baseball on this episode of Everything Everywhere Daily. HEADLINE: Moneyball for the Navy: Balancing the Fleet GUEST AUTHOR: Jerry HendrixSUMMARY: Applying a "Moneyball" baseball analogy, Hendrix argues the current U.S. Navy is "top-heavy," relying on expensive "home run" carriers while lacking "base hitters"—smaller ships for daily presence. He notes the fleet has under 300 ships but needs constant forward deployment to maintain peace. To fix this, he advocates for a high-low mix: acquiring the new Constellation-class frigate to serve as a versatile "pickup truck" and refurbishing older Arleigh Burke destroyers. This approach aims to rapidly expand capacity to counter the immediate Chinese threat without waiting decades for new technology.1900 DEPLOYED TO THE BOXER REBELLION
The old way of doing business would not have changed the global markets. What a day on the news Desk! In this edition of the Energy News Beat Stand Up, we cover several key stories.1. How President Trump changed the global oil market and his actions regarding Venezuela's oil exports. The transcript discusses how the Trump administration captured Venezuela's President Maduro and used new financial mechanisms to bypass the old system and fund Venezuela's oil exports.Add to the mix that OPEC is looking to change the pricing models and matrices to use production and refinery demand, oh, like going back to supply and demand basics. As OPEC and OPEC+ were unable to increase production even with higher quotas last year. How is OPEC going to handle the pricing when President Trump's Administration is managing the flow of oil for one of its members? Is the US now a de facto member of OPEC?The New Financial System Can Change the Entire Oil MarketSo the new financial mechanisms put in place are now accelerated through the use of Qatar's banking and the funding of Venezuelan oil money to bypass the old system, royalties, and ownership claims, all through a veil of legal protections.Norway's decision to award 57 new offshore oil and gas exploration permits reversed its previous plans to shut down the industry. The transcript highlights Norway's commitment to maintaining high levels of oil and gas production.3. The potential implications if the U.S. were to leverage its NATO membership to purchase Greenland. The transcript discusses the high financial and military costs Europe would face if the U.S. were to leave NATO. President Trump would not have to go to war if he cut a deal with them.Pay them in royalties, and it would be a slam dunk.4. A study showing that New England ratepayers could save $400-700 billion by replacing wind, solar, and nuclear power with natural gas and nuclear power.5. Tesla's progress in building a lithium refinery in Texas that will produce enough battery-grade lithium to power around 1 million electric vehicles per year. Mego remains in studio and discusses with Arcand Drake Maye's multiple long pass attempts against the Bills and why he's got learn dinking and dunking works just as well.
He was a fantastic hitter. Over a 162 game average in his 12 year career, he averaged a 4.2 WAR, 40 Home Runs, and 130 RBI. He scored 974 Runs for an average of 103 over 162 Games. The only thing more potent than his bat, was his pissed-off, surly disposition, which included throwing baseballs purposefully at hecklers in the stands, running down trick-or-treaters in his SUV who vandalized his home, as well as his strong dislike for the media, and the the abrasive bullying tactics he employed against them. As talented as he was, Albert Belle could never shake his anger or his drive for perfection. And the indignity of never being able to find that perfection made Belle's blood boil. His career ended prematurely as one of the games best sluggers, with more stats to give, left on the diamond, Because of his petulant behavior, he has never been seriously considered for induction into the Hall Of Fame. It's been a wild time in the markets; there are many questions in the oil and gas markets. Will the Trump Administration stop the dark fleet tankers from filling up 4 million barrels this weekend, as they did with the one they confiscated last week? 1. The Trump administration's actions against Venezuela, including the capture of a “dark fleet” oil tanker. We discuss whether this is more about oil or a show of force against the Venezuelan government. Stu chimes in that Panama is not renewing their “Belt and Road” initiative with China, so did taking the Tanker last week prove that this is more about the Monroe Doctrine? 2. The potential impact on the oil and gas markets if there is a regime change in Venezuela, including the possibility of increased foreign investment and production. You have to ask the question Who has the most oil reserves? Then you have to ask which companies produce the most oil, as energy policies and profits matter. If you have huge reserves but you can't get the oil and gas out of the ground because of corruption, you might as well not have the natural resources. 3. The European Union's decision to freeze Russian central bank assets in response to the war in Ukraine, and the potential retaliatory actions Russia could take by restricting energy exports to Europe.4. The growth of AI data centers in Texas and concerns about the ability of the Texas power grid to handle the increased electricity demand.5. He's one of the best to ever play the game. They call him "The Machine." The numbers don't lie...3,301 Career Hits. 679 Home Runs. 2,150 Runs Batted In. 10 All Star Games, 2 World Series Championships, 3 MVP's, 6 Silver Sluggers, and he's still playing! We spend an hour with Albert talking about his upbringing in the DR, his Major League career, and his off the field endeavors. Of all those accolades, The Roberto Clemente Award is his most prized. He shares with us what questions he would have for Roberto if he could meet him. He also gives great advice for the young hitter. What's the difference between hitting in Little League, and High School? How was he able to hit for power, and put the ball in play so much? To close out the program, we discuss his foundation, the Pujols Family Foundation, which serves the Down Syndrome Community and underserved areas of the Dominican Republic. Chad Chop also challenges him to a Trivia Contest, which you definitely don't wanna miss. Thank you for all you are Albert Pujols. Enjoy, rate, review, and SHARE!
