Matthew Abrams, a second-year student-athlete for the Humber Hawks Men's Curling Team, joins The All-Canadian Podcast! - - - Host Tyler Bennett is joined by Matthew Abrams, who recently wrapped up his second season with the Humber Men's Curling Program, on the latest episode of The All-Canadian Podcast, powered by the All-Canadian Sports Network! Abrams, who won a National Championship with the Hawks this past season, joins the show to discuss anything and everything related to curling. Off the top, Bennett looks for some help from listeners when it comes to finding ways to slow your body down and just relax. A self-realization moment over the weekend led Bennett to further understand that he doesn't know how to 'do nothing', thus the question: how do you force yourself to slow down and unwind? Then, Abrams joins the show to discuss the sport he's grown up around: curling! Abrams shares how he first got introduced to the sport on a family outing to watch his father play. From then on, he was hooked and his love for the sport has only grown since. Abrams discusses what the junior system is like for curling, and you'd be surprised to know that it's very much similar to some of the more 'traditional' sports. Then, Abrams and Bennett talk about how Matt ended up at Humber College, and what went into that decision. To close, Abrams and Bennett take a look at the academic side of the equation for Matt, one that has included a program change after just one year. Abrams discusses what went into that decision for him, and why he ultimately decided to switch to Sports Management. - - - Interested in making an appearance on The All-Canadian Podcast? “I actually am more brother and sister with people that are across incredibly diverse paths and walks of life than I had ever imagined.” I feel super pumped to re-release this powerful episode almost three years after I first recorded it. But as I listened back, it struck me how relevant this conversation is to the world we're experiencing now. I first met Matthew Abrams when he was facilitating a mastermind. At the time, I was starting to dive into my inner work with more depth and intensity and Matthew stood out for me as someone who'd really mastered this dimension. I noticed it in his presence, in the way he communicated, and in the way he was able to hold space for people from all walks of life - and then guide them forward powerfully. This episode is about collective evolution as much as it is about individual development. Matthew addresses the sensitive issue of privilege, religion, and the barriers to wholeness in ourselves and as a collective. Could understanding that we all have a different piece of the puzzle help us find common ground and unite as one? “If you don't know the injustices that we live in, in these days, you're hiding under a rock.”In his work, Matthew is a facilitator who supports entrepreneurs and leadership teams through the EOS framework. EOS is a proven system that's been implemented into thousands of companies with resounding and consistent success. Matthew is part of a small, global team who's been trained in these processes. Here's a taste of what you'll experience:Why did Matt's life begin when he was 27.The role of curiosity in our lives. Privilege: How society supports Matt to NOT be curious about himself and how it influences how he sees the world. What causes ‘otherness', religion, and how we get fragmented as humans. [The conversation Matthew has with his fears when they show up.The 5% ‘edge' - why we avoid it, and why it's where the magic sits. The story of Matthew's parents' divorce. The discipline to do the ‘work' and two powerful reflection questions to ask yourself. And more...Brace yourselves for a deep discussion about courage, curiosity, and the need to understand yourself - so you can understand others. It's a conversation that can get uncomfortable. Matthew acknowledges this, but inspires us to go to the uncomfortable edge because that's where all the growth lies. I was so inspired by Matt's presence and his philosophies - and Im sure you will feel exactly the same. “There's something in the space between you and me, that's magic. And only together through curiosity and exploration and a commitment to that pursuit, can we find it.”How to contact Check out the work Matthew does with leadership teams in companies and how supports CEOs and founders at www.matthew-abrams.com. Welcome to Season 4 of the WatchPitch Podcast where we continue with a particular focus on exits... for start-ups, entrepreneurs and business owners...an exit strategy that could be the result of a Merger, an Acquisition or the outright sale of your business. In our last episode we talked about Merger & Acquisition readiness for your business. This ensures continuity, growth and integration with the impacts of an exit for you, your buyer and your team. Matthew Abrams joins us again for WatchPitch with Entrepreneurial Operating Systems or EOS as a best practice baseline for the start-up eco-system as well as the active and growing business that is looking at a future exit. “I actually am more brother and sister with people that are across incredibly diverse paths and walks of life than I had ever imagined.” In this 50th episode (woohoo!) of the Stay Grounded Podcast, I wanted to bring you an extra special guest to mark this big milestone. And Matthew Abrams delivered. Matthew’s passion (and life purpose) is to support individuals and collectives to reach their fullest potential. He does this by creating and holding courageous spaces where people feel safe to explore with vulnerability, and honesty. The reason Matthew can do this so beautifully is because of his rich curiosity for himself and his fellow humans. After spending 9 months travelling, living, and working in really diverse cultures Matthew learned first hand how similar we all are - and how are differences can create deep connection. We just have to be prepared to pull away the veil. “There’s something in the space between you and me that’s magic and only together through curiosity and exploration and a commitment to that pursuit can we find it.” This episode is about collective evolution as much as it is about individual development. Matthew addresses the sensitive issue of privilege, religion, and the barriers to wholeness in ourselves and as a collective. Could understanding that we all have a different piece of the puzzle help us find common ground and unite as one? It’s a conversation that can get uncomfortable - Matthew acknowledges this, but inspires us to go to the uncomfortable edge because that’s where all the growth lies. So brace yourselves for a deep discussion about courage, curiosity, and the need to understand yourself - so you can understand others. Dive into a conversation about vulnerable connection, deep self-awareness, and what can happen when we’re unwilling to go to get curious and walk through the doors that open.. I was so inspired by Matt’s presence and his philosophies - and I’m sure you will feel exactly the same. So settle into this episode and let yourself be inspired and uplifted by your friend, the incredible Matthew Abrams. “I love holding spaces that are courageous places to explore vulnerability, to explore connection, to explore personal discovery and collective achievement - that’s why I’m on this planet.” Some questions I ask: How did you learn to navigate life in the artful way that you do? [1:30]Do you practice curiosity with yourself? [8:36]How have your fears evolved over time? [15:55]How do you get aware when you’re avoiding the shadow? [21:57]Are there commonalities with your fears or do you fear many things? [24:55]Where does ‘them v us’ come from? [28:00]How has your self-awareness shown up in times when you’ve needed it most? [32:30]How do you accelerate the development of self-awareness? [37:06]How do you train yourself to have the courage to be a beginner? [42:30]How do you stay grounded? [46:33] In this episode, you will hear about: Why Matt’s life began when he was 27. [1:35]The role of curiosity in our lives. [6:28]Privilege: How society supports Matt to NOT be curious about himself and how it influences how he sees the world. [9:58]What causes ‘otherness’, religion, and how we get fragmented as humans. [14:00]The conversation Matthew’s has with his fears when they show up. [19:20]The 5% ‘edge’ - why we avoid it, and why it’s where the magic sits. [31:26]The story of Matthew’s parents’ divorce. MONSTER PARTY takes the party to the people! Join JAMES GONIS, SHAWN SHERIDAN, LARRY STROTHE, and MATT WEINHOLD, for a monstrously marvelous milestone! It's a podcast that is a mix of in-studio commentary, and highlights of our first ever LIVE event, recorded at highbrow horror hangout, CREATURE FEATURES, as part of their GODZILLA: ALL ART ATTACK 2 gallery show. Usually, a typical MONSTER PARTY episode would feature a celebrity guest, but this time, we made that guest YOU! Listen in, as audience members share their favorite (and occasionally flawed) Godzilla memories with a packed crowd. We did our best to re-create the standard MONSTER PARTY vibe, by offering an open bar, snacks, swag, raffles, and our usual trademark brand of adolescent squabbling. Thank you TAYLOR WHITE, ERIC OCTOBER, MATTHEW ABRAMS, MICHELLE OLIVIER, and KEVIN SMITH, for making this experiment in merriment, a resounding success! Now, maybe the London Palladium will return our calls.

Starting a new college is not for the faint of heart... so that makes this endeavor a good project for Matthew Abrams. Having traveled through 43 countries and 46 of these United States, Matthew got the idea to start a new college for entrepreneurs (The Mycelium School) while doing a residence in an underground Arts Collective in Havana, Cuba. Quote a bold vision, and quite a substantial project. But he started out as a relatively normal kid from Connecticut. Let's see what trajectory he followed from there to Mycelium School, which launches its first class of students in the Fall of 2013.
