Moin Khan, from Pakistan, has been passionate about motorcycles since childhood. While attending school in the United States, Moin was surprised by how little people knew about Pakistan, and much of what they did know seemed inaccurate. So, after finishing school, he decided to ride a motorcycle back to Pakistan, calling his journey ‘A Different Agenda'. His goal was to change perceptions about Pakistan, one encounter at a time. In the end, Moin was amazed by how the journey unfolded and by the kindness of the people he met, which beautifully challenged his own assumptions. This week on our motorcycle podcast our favorite Pakistani sexy mofo is here, none other than Moin Khan himself. Besides our upcoming Stumpistan trip (now combined with Chickistan, so we're calling it Chumpistan), Moin is first leading a new tour in Vietnam next month. In addition to adding Vietnam to his list, he lead his first tour of Tanzania last year which came right after a record rainy season. This lead to some true adventures that included drowning bikes in a river, seeing elephants, giraffes and ostriches, and riding on some slippery dirt roads. But the group banded together to overcome the obstacles together, which makes for some good story telling from Moin. Also, Liza introduces a fun new game you can play along with, and see if you can guess the model of bikes being described. Lastly we finish up with listener emails, one of which brings Scottie to tears of joy. Nessun Dorma ventures into new territory this week, with Martyn and Rob joined by two special guests for our first ever cricket episode. Jonathan Hungin and Andrew Miller, who worked with Rob at Wisden.com at the turn of the century, join us to draft their XIs from the memorable 1999 World Cup.The list of players includes all-time greats hitting the heights (Shane Warne, Steve Waugh, Glenn McGrath, Rahul Dravid, Wasim Akram, Allan Donald) and unheralded players having the best month of their careers (Gavin Hamilton, Neil Johnson, Geoff Allott).Somewhere in the middle was Lance Klusener, who dominated the tournament to a frightening degree before a devastating twist in the semi-final against Australia. These are the rules of the Nessun Dorma draft:* Each player can only be picked by one person. When Klusener has gone, he's gone.* Players are judged solely on their performances in the 1999 World Cup. So, for one draft only, Moin Khan and Ridley Jacobs are better picks than Adam Gilchrist.* You decide who wins the draft. Go to Twitter/X (@nessundormapod) on Wednesday morning to choose which team you think is the best. The poll will close at 5pm on Friday (UK time). This is a public episode. This week on our motorcycle podcast we have a smorgasbord of stories to share. First off, everyone shares their stories from the MotoAmerica and AHRMA races at Laguna Seca over the past two weekends. Both events were awesome, and with the addition of the vintage motocross at AHRMA, we will be looking forward to attending next years event. Stumpy John gives us a report on his ride to S. Dakota on Liza's KLR, and somewhat fittingly managed to give her bike a stump as well. Mike is looking at buying a pretty cool looking cafe racer project bike, and made the mistake of bringing it by the garage on the test ride. We then spent the next 30 minutes pointing out all the things wrong with the bike, and why he shouldn't buy it. Never the less, were pretty sure he bought it anyway..... Surprise guest Moin Khan dropped by and we find out what magical motocross haven he discovered in Santa Cruz. How did we not know about it!? He also tells everyone about the race tracks he's built in Pakistan, and what awesome toys he has to play with on them. And lastly, we answer some listener emails.
