High school teachers organize showcase Surrounded by students' work in the administrative office at The Lofts at Beacon, a funky historic building bathed in natural light, Beacon High School art teachers Mark Lyon and Claudine Farley beamed with pride. The showcase, which closes May 30, features pottery and visual images. Friendship is a recurring theme. Opposite the entrance hang three striking paintings by Luna Ayers-Uekawa, Elena Moleano and Willa Staempfli with bright colors and fantastical beasts. "I gave them the freedom to go on a rollercoaster ride," says Lyon. "No bullseyes, and it had to be an original work that does not copy a picture." Several students won Scholastic Art Awards, and Carlos Lampon received a full scholarship to the Rhode Island School of Design. His painting, "Explore Friendship," is a complicated construct: the heads of eight young people rotate around the frame as if everyone is lying in a circle; one cozies up to a glowing orb that resembles the moon. Alina Joseph Caleb Ramirez Carlos Lampon Elena Moleano Luna Ayers-Uekawa Mira Miller Nicholas Perry Nora Marshall Pen Lipari Prince Jones Samantha Garcia Shannon Colandrea Suvi Oshea Taylor Kelliher Willa Staempfli Zenis Haris Lampon renders complex features such as hair, hands and rumpled shirts with skill. In another acrylic, a lady in red lounges on a porch. The long shadow cast by a post crosses her body and pierces the frame. Mira Miller's untitled painting portrays her and some pals working on an Eagle Scout woodworking project. Amidst the chaotic scene, a self-portrait appears in a corner, with Miller holding tools and donning safety googles. A fun-filled painting by Taylor Kelliher features soft lighting and a dog, while her arresting final project from this year shows a girl in a colorful costume strutting her stuff while reflected in a mirror from behind. "Her brush strokes are more confident," says Lyon. "She's come a long way." Some of Farley's pottery students replicated yellow rubber ducks to reflect their personalities. One young artist who values sleep topped the work with an old-fashioned nightcap. More advanced students created personalized paper bags from clay, including "What's Next," which features a sad face. "It laments the situation of seniors, whose world is breaking up as they move on from high school," says Farley. A charcoal drawing by Alina Joseph demonstrates a sophisticated balance between shade and light. Prince Jones created photos with movement; "Heart Eyes" is the result of waving lights around a dark stage. The background and the subject wearing pink glasses are multiplied, manipulated and over-exposed. Caleb Ramirez shot photos at Long Dock Park, Shannon Colandrea shares an image taken in Iceland, and Samantha Garcia zoomed in for a close-up of her dog's nose. A digital artwork by Zenia Haris captivates in part because it's disorienting and challenging — even after digesting it for an extended period. Using an iPad and the program ibisPaint, he wielded a stylus to draw in the digital realm, creating deep shades of blue and purple, as well as bright reds and oranges. His cut-paper collage "Losing Touch" is an allegory about how he's "jealous of my younger self; it was much easier to make friends." No matter what path he takes at SUNY Albany, Haris says he will keep creating. "I've been doing art projects since I was a little kid," he says. "There are always ideas floating around my brain." The Lofts at Beacon Gallery, at 18 Front St., is open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed for lunch 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.) and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
İmâm-ı A‘zam Ebû Hanîfe (r.a.)'in hayatının ilk yıllarında hadîs öğrenmiş ve özellikle fakih muhaddislerden hadîs almıştır. Ebû Davud et-Tayâlisî (r.âleyh)'in rivayetine göre, Ebû Hanîfe (r.a.) şöyle demiştir: "H. 80 senesinde doğdum, 94 senesinde sahâbî Abdullah b. Enes (r.a.) geldi. Onu 14 yaşımda gördüm ve ondan Hz. Peygamber (s.a.v.)'in; "Bir şeyi aşırı sevmen gözünü kör, kulağını sağır eder" hadîsini işittim." İmâm Ebû Yusuf (r.a.)'in rivayeti ise şöyledir: "H. 80 senesinde doğdum; 16 yaşımda, 96 senesinde babamla birlikte haccettim. Mescid-i Haram'a girdiğimde büyük bir kalabalık gördüm ve babama sordum. Babam; "Bu, sahâbeden Abdullah b. Haris ez-Zebîdî (r.a.)'in ilim halkasıdır" dedi. İlim halkasına katıldım ve Abdullah b. Haris (r.a.)'i; "Resûlullâh (s.a.v.)'i "Dîninde fakih olan kimseyi Allâh (c.c.) ummadığı yerden rızıklandırır ve kederlerini giderir" buyururken işittim" dediğini duydum. İmam-ı Azam ilim öğrenmeye başladığında kendisine; "Hadîs ilmini tercih edersen sonunda hata ettiğinde, seni yalancılıkla itham ederler ve alaya alınırsın" şeklinde nakledilen haber sahih değildir. Çünkü Kur'ân ve Sünnet'i bilmeyen fakih olamaz. Onun Kur'ân ve Sünnet'i bilmediği halde İmâm-ı Şafiî (r.a.)'in; "İnsanlar Ebû Hanîfe (r.a.)'in fıkhına muhtaçtır" diye ifade ettiği seviyeye ulaştığını kâbul edip, sonra da "Ebû Hanîfe (r.a.) hadîs bilmiyordu" dememiz büyük bir çelişkidir. (Muhaddisler Nazarında İmam-ı A'zam Ebû Hanîfe, c.1, s.96-97)

Listen to Reba Maybury and curator Haris Giannouras talk about her new exhibition, about punk and labour, among other things. It was recorded on 4 March 2026, a day before the opening of Reba Maybury's exhibition I Come in Peace. For her solo exhibition at Secession Maybury worked on a new body of work that engages directly with the misogynistic histories of the institution, confronting Klimt as a figure entrenched in privilege and power, a classical prototype of male artistic genius. In her practice the artist interrogates the intersections of feminism, sexuality, and power. Their discussion touches on the new works produced for the exhibition while addressing issues of punk, sex, labour, and the gendered side of power. Reba Maybury is an artist, writer and dominatrix sometimes working under the name Mistress Rebecca. Her work explores the tension between her perceived strength as an object of fantasy and how through the reality of sex work she attempts to turn this power into something tangible. Much of her art practice is physically created by her submissives through her direction as a way to further the complicated imbalances of labour under sex work, gender and entitlement and an attempt to empower her further than men's desires, leaving her with more than just a payment from them. Her first novella is named Dining with Humpty Dumpty (2017) and more recently she published Faster Than an Erection (2021 & 2024); From Paris with Love (2024); and Pervert or Detective? (with Lucy McKenzie, 2025). Themes of capital, labour, sexuality, female perversion, desire, banality, pleasure, and bureaucracy as torture and humiliation are essential to her practice. Haris Giannouras works with artists to make exhibitions, artworks, publications and events. He is currently a curator at the Secession in Vienna. Before that he worked at MUSEUM MMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST in Frankfurt am Main and Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach. Recent projects include work with Studio for Propositional Cinema, Cana Bilir-Meier, Atelier Bow-Wow, Andrea Büttner, Jamie Crewe, Beatrice Gibson, Onyeka Igwe, Hiwa K, Ghislaine Leung, Duane Linklater, Karī Mugo, Fiona Banner aka The Vanity Press, and the Estate of Suzan Pitt.

Send a textEloquently spoken Sabrina Harris shares stories from a lynching in Alabama that forces her family to become part of the Great Migration. In this movement, approximately six million African Americans moved from the rural Southern United States to the urban North, Midwest, and West between 1910 and 1970. This story strongly echoes the ones from “The Warmth of Other Suns”, the historical study by Isabel Wilkerson. With insight into how some Blacks, at times, feared the means to achieve Civil Rights, Haris speaks of her desire for change as a teenager, and her recollections about the night Barack Obama was elected President of the United States. She speaks about hope for our nation's future. If there is only one podcast episode you listen to this year, the conversation with Sabrina Harris is the one to hear and learn from.

Today I am joined by the talented London-based photographer Haris Ahmed. He specializes in corporate, startup, and comedy/celebrity photography.During the episode, we discuss how Haris transitioned from working at Apple to building a sustainable photography business, his unconventional path into comedy photography, and his approach to balancing commercial work with creative passion projects.Episode Takeaways:→ Finding reliable income sources like corporate work funds creative experimentation in other genres—you don't need to monetize every aspect of your photography.→ Reverse-engineer the client's perspective: understand that marketing managers need to justify spending and require proof of capability, not out of distrust but necessity.→ Build portfolio proof through alternative means—Haris's YouTube channel demonstrated consistent content creation ability when he lacked traditional client work.→ Equipment choices should prioritize achieving specific creative outcomes rather than technical specifications alone.→ The quiet, personal moments shot for yourself often become client favorites—integrate your authentic voice across all genres rather than compartmentalizing.→ Act as if you already have the job when discussing opportunities, focusing on problem-solving rather than pitching.Chapters00:00 - Introduction to Creative Journeys01:32 - Haris Ahmed's Photography Evolution06:59 - Transitioning from Apple to Photography12:58 - Building a Portfolio through YouTube18:17 - Navigating Corporate Photography25:22 - Finding Inspiration in Corporate Work30:52 - The Importance of Personal Style in Photography35:39 - Exploring the Art of Photography40:06 - The Balance of Corporate and Creative Work46:07 - Navigating Equipment Choices for Photography1:02:05 - Evolving Creative Direction and Future Aspirations1:08:58 - Advice for Aspiring CreativesLinksHaris Ahmed's YouTube and Instagram - https://www.youtube.com/@HVRIS and https://www.instagram.com/hvrisworldHaris' Website - https://www.haychdigital.com/Tom's Website - https://www.bytomw.comTom's Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/bytomwDB Captures (Next Interview Recommendation) - https://www.instagram.com/dbcaptures
Markets had a little “AI anxiety attack” this week and Wall Street responded the only way it knows how: smash the sell button and ask questions later. We break down the $285B Anthropic-fueled rout, why the “automation boom” is starting to look like an entry-level job extinction event, and how Big Tech's data-center dreams are already colliding with tighter financing and very real layoff math (looking at you, Oracle). Then we zoom out to the part nobody wants to talk about at cocktail parties: job cuts flashing red, wages getting blamed for everything, and a housing market that's still wildly unaffordable because the underlying problem never left — it just changed outfits. Add a little bitcoin weakness for spice, and you've got Episode 321: the reality check Wall Street didn't order, but absolutely needs.
Haris Orkin is a prolific novelist, playwright, screenwriter, and game writer. His play Dada premiered at The La Jolla Playhouse. His feature film, A Saintly Switch, was produced by Disney and directed by the great Peter Bogdanovich. Haris has written screenplays for Universal, Sony, Fox, and Paramount. He's also has written numerous video games, many of which have been nominated for the WGA and BAFTA Film Awards. Games he's worked on include Call of Juarez, Red Alerts, Shadow Warrior, Black Hawk Down, and many others.Haris recently released the sixth book in his James Flynn Escapade series, called From Lompoc With Love. I've read the first book of the series, You Only Live Once, which is one of the cleverest, wittiest, and most fun takes on the superspy genre I've had the pleasure to read. I'm a huge James Bond fan, and I was thoroughly caught up in James Flynn's hilariously delusional and unexpected exploits. The book series has been optioned by producer Sherry Marsh and Will Arnett's company and is currently being shopped to streaming studios.

Coaches: Order the new MSC Youth Coaching eBooks below: https://www.modernsoccercoach.com/shop In this episode of the Modern Soccer Coach Podcast, Gary is joined by Haris Memisevic, Technical Director and Head of Coaching at Virginia Revolution, for a deep conversation on youth session design and coach development. One of the big themes we explore is how often coaches confuse high tempo with high learning. We talk about why fast sessions don't automatically lead to intelligent players, how over-coaching and over-explaining can limit understanding, and why the design of the session should do the heavy lifting, not constant coach intervention. We also dive into: - Simplifying session planning for youth players - Intervention strategies that protect flow and learning - Freedom within a framework in club curriculum design - Why game-day pressure pulls coaches away from their beliefs - The overlooked importance of coach personality at the youth level This is a conversation for youth coaches, technical directors, and club leaders who want to build better learning environments, not just busier sessions. Check out the latest youth coaching resources, session ideas, and eBooks at ModernSoccerCoach.com Explore MSC Insider for webinars, session drops, and full access to our growing youth library. In this episode, Robin Merttens sits down with Haris Khan and Arved Pohlabeln, co-founders of Novee, to unpack what's broken in specialty underwriting — and how AI is finally in a position to fix it. Having met as consultants at Deloitte, Haris and Arved kept encountering the same themes: overworked underwriters, inconsistent submissions, and transformation efforts that rarely made a real difference. That frustration turned into action. Today, they're building Novee — an AI assistant designed specifically for underwriters, combining insight generation with targeted automation. In this conversation, Haris and Arved share: Why underwriting processes remain complex, fragmented and hard to standardise What makes specialty submissions so variable — and why every case feels like an edge case How Novee delivers value in two ways: by surfacing better risk insights and automating manual tasks Why underwriters are embracing AI tools now — not resisting them What it takes to get live in weeks, not months, with meaningful value The real-world impact of extracting information from unstructured submissions How they raised £1.6 million in seed funding and what they're doing with it Why verticalised AI is outperforming generic solutions in insurance What it means to redesign underwriting interaction patterns — and why inbox to insight is the future The case for using AI before you fix your data, not after Sign up to the InsTech newsletter for a fresh view on the world every Wednesday morning. Binâenaleyh ayetin manası, "Sizin cehennemegirmeniz ihtimaline karşı, size son derece düşkündür" şeklindedir."İbn Abbas (radıyallahü anh) şöyle demiştir: "Allahü teâlâ, peygamberini, kendi isimlerinden bu iki isimleisimlendirmiştir."Allah'a itaatten ve peygamberi tasdikten yüz çevirirlerse;Bu sûrede ele alınan, bahsedilen güç teklifleri kabul etmekten yüz çevirirlerse,d) Cihadda sana yardım etmekten yüz çevirirlerse, manaları verilmiştir.
