The Space Cowboys have Mancub to thank for bringing this week's talented guest, Jayclue (a.k.a. Jason Brown) of http://soundcloud.com/qdup-foundation, to The RIPEcast. Mancub and Jayclue met several months ago while sharing the bill at Mighty and shortly thereafter Jayclue graciously agreed to do this exclusive mix of signature Qdup funky breaks for the show. Many thanks to Jayclue and Qdup Foundation from the Cowboys for this week's funky and fabulous RIPEcast. Enjoy Boys and Girls! A little more background on this week's guest..... America's Funky Breaks production trio, Qdup Foundation, have made their mark with top selling releases on Bombstrikes, Goodgroove, and their own Qdup Records labels. Over the past few years the boys have set forth an assault of ass shaking remixes which have been found rocking dance floors worldwide by some of the worlds most heavyweight DJ's. Having remixed the likes of Fort Knox Five, DJ Love, Nappy Riddem, Basement Freaks, Danny Massure, Thunderball, Audit and Normski, DJ Love and Ursula1000 they have secured themselves a spot as one of the most in demand artists for remixing friends of the funk. Qdup's collective is made up of Jason Brown AKA Jayclue, Allen McDaniel AKA Amac, and Rex Holloway AKA The Disco Bastard. The 3 DJ / Producers came together after collaborating with each other from different sides of the US coast. Jason and Allen were long time friends having met up during the late 90's in the DC Metro area where both had mutual interests and had started djing around the areas budding electronic music scene. Years later with Jayclue having re-located to Los Angeles, he started collaborating in the studio on projects with Rex as well as working on projects across the country with Allen. It was not long before the boys decided to join efforts and started making plans get the Qdup label off the ground. Qdup's DJ sets showcase the same range of funky tunes and tempos that have influenced them over the years. Often known to move seamlessly mashing up hip-hop to mid-tempo funk and soul, breaks, dancehall, reggae, disco, house and even funky DnB. Qdup's DJ sets showcase this wide range of party rocking tunes mashing all their influences into a Ghetto Funk Gumbo with just the right seasoning! It's lining up to be exciting times for the crew that makes up Qdup. With forthcoming collaborations with vocalists Perydice, UltraLove, and MC Think Tank make Qdup one to keep an eye and ear out for. Upcoming releases include remixes for DJ Love on Air Recordings (UK), Thunderball on ESL (US), as well as Original EP's on Qdup Records (US).
