Send us a textJeffrey James Franca started his musical trajectory playing guitar, taking lessons around the age of five. He found himself invested in playing music, although he didn't realize how invested at the time.Joining his band program in elementary school, he started playing the snare drum. Playing a drum set from his uncle, he completely embraced the instrument, finding the transition from guitar to snare natural.He studied with jazz pedagogists at Indiana University Bloomington, and at the age of 20, he found himself in Los Angeles, California. There, he performed with producers, film score composers, and other musicians in the area.He then settled in Washington, D.C., where he says he performed “eight nights a week,” playing with African, jazz, reggae, and funk bands, among many other groups. He's played with Bill Kreutzmann of The Grateful Dead in his group Billy and the Kids, and since 2011, he has been the drummer and musical director for the group Thievery Corporation.Since joining the group, Thievery Corporation has been his primary focus as a drummer. It's been a long time since he led a band, but especially for the 2025 Nederland Jazz and Wine Festival, he has assembled a band dubbed The Shape of Jazz. Kiran Gandhi, aka Madame Gandhi, is an American artist, activist and producer who originally started out as a percussionist for popular British artist MIA, and American electronic music duo Thievery Corporation. She holds a masters degree in Music Science Technology at Stanford University and is on a mission to find innovative ways of using music to motivate and inspire people to care about climate change. Tom Raine follows Kiran on her journey to record brand new sounds in the North Pole, where she hopes to record everything from glaucous gulls, black-leg kittiwakes to common guillemots, as well as arctic foxes, seals and maybe polar bears. He then follows her to her studio in London to see exactly how Kiran sculpts these sounds into hi-hats, kicks, snare drums, bass tones, and more.

Joachim Garraud on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 8/28/24   After seven years at the Conservatoire de Nantes (Nantes' classical music conservatory), Joachim Garraud, a musician with a passion for technology, developed his musical and artistic skills to become one of France's most influential producers in the early 2000s. He has collaborated with David Bowie, Kylie Minogue, Beyoncé, OMD, Deep Dish, Eurythmics, Paul Johnson, Cassius, Cerrone, Moby and Vitalic. He has been a close collaborator to Bob Sinclar and Jean-Michel Jarre in their musical projects for over 20 years, and has co-composed and co-produced David Guetta's hits such as "Just A Little More Love", "Love Don't Let Me Go", "Love is Gone" and "The World is Mine". Joachim, nominated for a Grammy Award in the "Best Remix" category, was the first French artist to use Pro-Tools, a leading music production software back in 1992. Amber D (born 1982) is a British hard dance DJ from Staffordshire. As Amber D'Amour she plays electro, fidget, and tech house She has been a DJ since late 2001. Her first residency was at the legendary Golden, in Hanley Stoke-on-Trent, where she used to warm up for DJs such as Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, K-Klass, Mauro Picotto, and she then DJ'd on BPM Radio and at BPM parties.  In 2002, she won a DJ Competition at Fluffy, and started a residency at the club. She did an Essential Mix live on BBC Radio 1 in 2005.  She was “Mixmag Future Hero” in 2004, and one of her tracks was in the top 4 at the Hard Dance Awards 2008. She also had the biggest selling EP of all time on Tidy Trax in the shape of the Amber D EP that was released in 2008.    She now runs five record labels, D'Amour Recordings (electro house), D-Day Recordings (Tech, Euro Hard Trance and Hardstyle), D'Licious Recordings (UK hard house & hard dance), D'Licious HARD (Nu NRG and Harder House), and DirtyByDeisgn (Deep House / Tech House).
