Hello all! The Engineer here. Welcome to Episode 88 of the BUDDHA BEATS podcast! I hope you're doing well. Question for you: Do you remember when breakbeats was the new hotness? No? Break-whats? For those who weren't around in the scene when breakbeats were all the rage at the time, check this video out for a small primer (https://youtu.be/B4r0MdBQI6U). The reason for the reference, is that this month's mix is all breaks and bass. This includes genres like Baltimore Bass style, Rave Breaks, Funky Breaks, Ghetto Bass, and others. NOTE!: Some tracks have adult language, so I apologize for that, and you have been warned. That being said, these tracks — like many — take me back to when I first heard, or spun tracks from these genres, and I thought I would share these with you all. Now, what's more important, is that all of the tracks listed here except the last one are by artists on Bandcamp.com. As an artist, it's tough to get people to notice your work, and Bandcamp is a great place to find some of the most creative pieces out there. I wanted to make sure these amazing productions and the artists who brought them to life get to an audience, with me as the conduit. I have included links in the track listing (https://daibutsumusic.com/buddhabeats/episode88), so if you like what you've heard, PLEASE. GO. SUPPORT. THESE. ARTISTS. While there are free tracks on Bandcamp (where you pay what you think the track is worth), please spend a few bucks and help these fine folks out. You'd like to hear more of their music right? Me too. So, let's get them acknowledged, and a few buck towards, bills, gear, services that they need to continue doing what they clearly love doing: making dope music. Daibutsu Music has a store there too, and I love getting an email that lets me know someone purchased my work on the Bandcamp platform. Please share this mix on your social feeds, it is greatly appreciated. Enjoy the mix! Not many DJs can say they had to turn down sharing the stage with dance music darlings Disclosure, because they were already booked to rock a party in San Francisco with legendary turntablelist DJ Shortkut. Holding it down in Manila, rooted in Funk, Soul, and RnB ensure the flavor that translate into her style which mixes all genres from Funky Breaks to Disco and House, keeping the groove on the lock. Whatever going on a nation wide festival tour for telco giant Globe to recordin DJ Mixes for Ibiza Global Radio and Mixtaperio, or playing launches and in-store parties for Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs; what makes her stands out most is a rock solid reputation for quality music selection transcending genres, trends and generation. Her passions for DJing craft and a deeper understanding of club and dance culture's origins continue to guide her path.

The Space Cowboys have Mancub to thank for bringing this week's talented guest, Jayclue (a.k.a. Jason Brown) of http://soundcloud.com/qdup-foundation, to The RIPEcast. Mancub and Jayclue met several months ago while sharing the bill at Mighty and shortly thereafter Jayclue graciously agreed to do this exclusive mix of signature Qdup funky breaks for the show. Many thanks to Jayclue and Qdup Foundation from the Cowboys for this week's funky and fabulous RIPEcast. Enjoy Boys and Girls! A little more background on this week's guest..... America's Funky Breaks production trio, Qdup Foundation, have made their mark with top selling releases on Bombstrikes, Goodgroove, and their own Qdup Records labels. Over the past few years the boys have set forth an assault of ass shaking remixes which have been found rocking dance floors worldwide by some of the worlds most heavyweight DJ's. Having remixed the likes of Fort Knox Five, DJ Love, Nappy Riddem, Basement Freaks, Danny Massure, Thunderball, Audit and Normski, DJ Love and Ursula1000 they have secured themselves a spot as one of the most in demand artists for remixing friends of the funk. Qdup's collective is made up of Jason Brown AKA Jayclue, Allen McDaniel AKA Amac, and Rex Holloway AKA The Disco Bastard. The 3 DJ / Producers came together after collaborating with each other from different sides of the US coast. Jason and Allen were long time friends having met up during the late 90's in the DC Metro area where both had mutual interests and had started djing around the areas budding electronic music scene. Years later with Jayclue having re-located to Los Angeles, he started collaborating in the studio on projects with Rex as well as working on projects across the country with Allen. It was not long before the boys decided to join efforts and started making plans get the Qdup label off the ground. Qdup's DJ sets showcase the same range of funky tunes and tempos that have influenced them over the years. Often known to move seamlessly mashing up hip-hop to mid-tempo funk and soul, breaks, dancehall, reggae, disco, house and even funky DnB. Qdup's DJ sets showcase this wide range of party rocking tunes mashing all their influences into a Ghetto Funk Gumbo with just the right seasoning! It's lining up to be exciting times for the crew that makes up Qdup. With forthcoming collaborations with vocalists Perydice, UltraLove, and MC Think Tank make Qdup one to keep an eye and ear out for. Upcoming releases include remixes for DJ Love on Air Recordings (UK), Thunderball on ESL (US), as well as Original EP's on Qdup Records (US).
