On This Rock was stated by Jesus Christ to confirm the words of “Petra” Peter about what established the foundation of the church. This podcast is constantly being assessed to identify the foundation of Old School Thoughts and the events that shaped and continue to shape us. We are leaving an archive of testimonies for future generations to explore. I hope something is gained from this episode.

April 3rd, 2022 "On This Rock" Rev. Dr. Peter Cammarano Jr. - by Chapelwood UMC - Lake Jackson TX
Welcome to Bethel! Today we will be reflecting on Psalm 121 and Matthew 16:13-28, On This Rock. Over half of the Apostle's Creed focuses on who Jesus is. By looking at Psalm 121 we are reminded to look for our help from the Lord who keeps us from harm. Then we will move to Matthew 16 where Jesus challenges the disciples with this question, “Who do you say I am?” This question reverberates down through the centuries to us today where we are asked who we say Jesus. C.S Lewis in Mere Christianity wrote “You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse…You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God.
The end of this series "On This Rock" covers the conclusion of Peter's second letter. Sean and Johnny break down the reminders that Peter shares with his readers. The reminders Peter shares then are even more relevant today. What is your faith built on? Are you ready for Satan's storm? Jesus is returning, Peter tells us we should be thankful for God patience, for it is God's desire that ALL repent. God is not slow in his promise, He is being patient for one more person to be saved.
Pastor Johnny End this series On This Rock covering the letters of Peter. He covered four main points: There was a world they believed was fading away, There was a world they believed was on the way, There is a new way of life in the new world to come and There is a way to live life until that time comes.
Johnny and Sean continues the series On This Rock by covering 2 Peter chapter 1 the first 11 verses. Peter begins to give us Guidance for growing our faith as Christians. Just like an infant is carried then begins to crawl and then walks, to eventually running, we too must continue to build our faith on this solid foundation, "On This Rock" Jesus Christ.
What is the foundation of your faith? Sean and Johnny continue with this series of "On This Rock" going through the letters of Peter. This episode finishes Chapter 3 starting with the 8th verse of the book 1 Peter. They cover how one should never repay evil with evil as well as don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. They also talk about who Jesus preached to after his death, the spirits in prison. If you have any questions please reach out to us at Hopeanchors154@gmail.com
Dr. Steve Swartz, "On This Rock" from STEADFAST 2021: The Church, The Pillar and Foundation of the Truth. Visit www.steadfastconference.org to learn more about the Steadfast Bible Conference.
In this episode, Sean and Johnny welcomes two very special guest, Julie Rice and Christy Aho, as we navigate through 1 Peter chapter 3 verses 1-7. On This Rock is a series that looks at the writings of Peter. Too many times when we read scriptures, we read a verse and stop and live out what it says instead of reading the entire passage and looking at the context of the scriptures. With the help of Julie and Christy we see this passage from the eyes of women whose foundation is built on Jesus.
Johnny and Sean kick off a new series called On This Rock. We will be going through the books of 1 and 2 Peter. It is amazing how God uses the most ordinary people to do the most extraordinary things. Peter was a simple fisherman when Jesus said Follow Me. During his time with Christ his faith became a solid foundation. Join us as we learn more about Peter and his ministry.
Pastor Johnny begins a new series called On This Rock. During this Series he will be going through the books of 1st and 2nd Peter. The message covers 1 Peter verses 1-12. If you have any question email us at Hopeanchors154@gmail.com
This week we continue our series "On This Rock" but with a twist. Instead of sharing personal reflections on a foundational text, Matt spoke on a passage that is foundational for us right now; in the midst of the current lockdown occurring in Greater Sydney. That text is 1 Corinthians 13:8-13.Our experience of COVID and lockdown has shown us that so much of our life has become temporary, and so we must remember to remain focused on the things that are eternal. We are called to be a living, breathing outpouring of God's love within the world and by doing so, are used in God's construction of his Kingdom.Due to the current Public Health Order our facilities are closed to the public until at least Friday July 9. This means that if you'd like to join us for worship this week you'll need to do so online. Is there someone you know who really needs to hear this message? Why not share it with them and see what God does through it. If you'd like to join us online, we meet at gbconline.org.au at 9:30am AEST. We'd love for you to join us. This week we continue our series "On This Rock" but with a twist. Instead of sharing personal reflections on a foundational text, our senior pastor Marc Rader reflects on a passage that is foundational for us right now; in the midst of a shelter-in-place order. That text is Psalm 46.We are invited to shelter-in-place with God - to remember the ways he has been our refuge, to repent of our own efforts to paper over our anxiety, and to reside with him permanently. In order that we might be able to say with the psalmist, "We will not fear."Due to the current Public Health Order our facilities are closed to the public until at least Friday July 9. This weekend in Sydney we entered another period of lockdown due to a resurgence of COVID 19. This lockdown is the first city-wide lockdown since March 2020 and I think it's fair to say that we're all a bit rattled. This sermon was pre-recorded before the lockdown was announced and doesn't directly address this situation, but I hope that wherever you are, this message will speak to you and your situation. In NSW it also happens to be the school holidays and we have returned to a series that we started in the last term break entitled "On This Rock" in which the sermon is a reflection on a particularly foundational text for the preacher. This week is one of mine: the call of Jeremiah. When God invites us to participate with him in his grand plan to renew and restore all things we can, like Jeremiah, all too easily identify reasons we are not suitable for the task. However, at the end of the day, we are called - not to be perfectly suitable, but to be faithful. I hope and pray that this week you will be faithful to the call of God and look to his provision to enable you in the task at hand.Due to the current Public Health Order our facilities are closed to the public until at least Friday July 9. This means that if you'd like to join us for worship this week you'll need to do so online. Is there someone you know who really needs to hear this message? Matt is joined by Jess as they sit down with Roxane Lawler to reflect on her sermon in our series On This Rock.Is it wrong to have things or do things in our lives that don't directly honour the lord but on the flip-side don't go against the lord? How would you explain the concept of losing your life for Jesus to a non-Christian?How can we live a life purposefully for God, when we battle society each day?If you want to be part of the conversation, make sure you're there at one of our four services on Sunday, and you snap the Slido QR code before the sermon. If you've enjoyed the Big Three podcast today, please take the time to give it a rating and be sure to subscribe to stay up to date with all future episodes. If you'd like to join us online, we meet at gbconline.org.au at 9:30am AEST. Today we continue our short little series entitled On This Rock, Personal Reflections on Foundational Texts. This title is taken from Matthew Chapter 7, where Jesus says that anyone who hears his words and listens to them is like a wise person who built their house on a rock. This week, newly appointed Associate Pastor Roxanne Lawler reflects on the significance of Jesus's words in Mark Chapter 8.What does it profit someone to gain the whole world but to lose their soul? This question is more than simply a question that led an 8-year-old Roxanne Lawler to accept Jesus as her Lord and Saviour but continues to be a significant grid to help her and us. Make decisions about how we follow Jesus in our day to day lives.Do you have one or two people in your life who can help you check your blind spots? These people are a gift to us to faithfully follow Jesus. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.Don't forget that you can find our discipleship menu for this series on our website under the Next Steps tab and growing, join us as we seek to follow Jesus together. Is there someone you know who really needs to hear this message? Jess is joined by Marc as they sit down with Matt Willis to reflect on his sermon in our new series On This Rock.Whether to wait or to take steps. How can a disciple know?If the full life isn't necessarily the easy life, what does the full life look like? How do we tell the difference between a good idea & a God idea?If you want to be part of the conversation, make sure you're there at one of our four services on Sunday, and you snap the Slido QR code before the sermon. If you've enjoyed the Big Three podcast today, please take the time to give it a rating and be sure to subscribe to stay up to date with all future episodes. If you'd like to join us online, we meet at gbconline.org.au at 9:30am AEST. Father John Hollowell is a priest of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. He is well-known for his blog, “On This Rock.” His pastoral duties include parish leadership and chaplain roles at DePauw University and the Putnamville Correctional Faciltiy. Fr. Hollowell spoke with Paul Giesting about the number of priests throughout history who have also been active as scientists. Here is one list of priest-scientists provided by National Catholic Register. Pope John Paul II created a commission to review the Galileo Affair, and this resulted in documents officially apologizing for the Catholic Church’s historic, and hyperbolized dispute against Galileo’s statements. Here is a link to the book that was discussed: Steven Pinker’s The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature. Fr. One of the definitions of "conviction" is "a firmly held belief or opinion." But convictions can sometimes run deeper than opinions and survive across changing beliefs. Where do convictions come from? How do they guide us?
This week we welcomed Pastor Carey back from Sabbatical and he shared with us a message entitled "Things I learned on Sabbatical;" with insights and observations from his summer traveling, studying and relaxing. These observations will relate to all of us as we live our daily lives in this chaotic world.
The Holy Spirit has two main functions in a believers life: to make them more like Christ (Fruits of the Spirit) and to empower them to fulfill their mission (power of the Spirit.) The tendency for most people is to focus on one or the other. The reality is that it is not the fruits or the power; but the fruits and the empowerment that we should seek. The purpose of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit is to assist us in spreading the gospel, but if we don't have the Fruits of the Spirit in our lives it nullifies our witness. This weekend, Pastor Nate shared how the Holy Spirit empowers us to carry on the work that Christ started in bringing God's kingdom to earth.
This weekend, we welcomed Josh Wellborn, Assemblies of God Director of Student Ministries for the Michigan District, to Living Hope as he shared with us about hearing the voice of God and the baptism with the Holy Spirit.
This weekend, we welcomed Otis Buchan back as he shared about Joshua at the crossing of the river Jordan in "Learning to be a Learner." it was great to have Otis here again.
This weekend, we were excited to welcome Otis Buchan, presently serving as the Michigan District director of Supervised churches and Director of District Camps (Lost Valley Bible in Gaylord and Faholo in Grass Lake.) Otis shared with us about new beginnings as we will look at the beginning episodes in the life of Moses in Exodus with a focus on “Who I Am.”
"God wants your heart before he wants your service." -On this Rock, Carey Waldie We have all been given gifts to be used by God, but did you know He gives us instructions on how they are used? This weekend, we welcomed Pastor Rachael Jenneman as she shared "How to be Used by God."
This week we welcome Pastor Nate Boven back to the pulpit as we continue our series on Pastor Carey's book "On This Rock." We have already explored how God established the Church and how important it is to commit to a local congregation. We believe that God has placed everyone in a church to grow and use their gifts and talents to advance the vision He has given the church. But what happens when God calls you somewhere else? This week Pastor Nate will explain how to leave a church if God is calling you on.

Jesus said, “They will know you by your love for one another.” The problem however, is that the silent killer of offense often deteriorates the foundation of love. This stifles people personally, in their relationships and in their effectiveness with reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This weekend, we welcomed Pastor Jimmy Stanton to the pulpit as we explored how we can see, deal with and heal from this silent killer.
This weekend, we welcomed Kimberly Waldie and together we celebrated the amazing opportunity that mothers and women in general, have to be an authority and influence families, but also in the world at large. We traveled back in Old Testament History to find a most surprising woman who recognized the responsibility she had in the face of impending disaster to influence and walk in her God-given feminine authority to protect those she in her care. She left her mark on the old testament world in what is viewed as one of the longest, most eloquent speeches given by a woman in Scripture.
God gives us freedom, but is authority legitimate? What about Church authority? This weekend we welcomed Pastor Rachael to the pulpit as she continued on in our series, On this Rock- Restoring Commitment to the Local Church, and showed us the biblical advantages of church authority.

This week Pastor Jimmy starts our new series featuring Pastor Carey's book, “On this Rock.” We will take a practical, introspective, and authentic look at what this means.
