Our lives are filled with apparent contradictions. We often say illogical things like, “Less is more,” and “The only constant is change.” Literally speaking, such statements can't be true, but deep down, we know they are right. And so it is with God sometimes. In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah found God in life's paradoxes. He saw God as a garden flourishing in the desert, as a slave who is more powerful than his masters, and as a healer who is mortally wounded. Through his prophecies, Isaiah revealed a deeper reality about God that cuts through our apparent contradictions and points directly to our crucified savior, Jesus Christ. At The Story, we'll explore these deeper truths beginning Sunday, March 2, through Easter Sunday.
In this engaging sermon, guest speaker David White steps in for Pastor Karl to unpack Romans 10, a chapter rich with the promise of salvation—or "soteria," as it's called in Greek. Diving into Romans 10, David explores Paul's heartfelt plea for his fellow Israelites to embrace salvation through faith, not works. With personal stories—like his dad's grace-filled response to bike-stealing teens—he illustrates the difference between mercy (not getting what we deserve) and grace (getting what we don't deserve). David's core message is clear: "Salvation cannot be achieved; it can only be received because grace is greater than you." Quoting Paul, he emphasizes that believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that "Jesus is Lord" opens the door to God's gift—no effort required, just acceptance. David challenges listeners to move beyond mere hope into prayer for their heart's desires and to share this good news with others, echoing Paul's call for beautiful feet that bring the gospel. With wit and warmth, he warns against complicating grace, urging us to simply receive it. This episode is a compelling blend of scripture, storytelling, and a call to live out faith in everyday life—perfect for anyone seeking clarity on salvation's simplicity.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” — Isaiah 52:7 One day in 1987 the rain poured down as we made our way to a church workers meeting in a little chapel on Panay Island in the Philippines. The chapel was separated from the nearest road by a kilometer of rice fields. We took off our shoes and socks, rolled up our pantlegs, and walked across the fields on little dikes between the rice paddies. I was not skilled at this, and my foot slipped into a muddy paddy several times. The meeting was a monthly gathering for fellowship and mutual encouragement—and sometimes problem solving— for leaders from 10 churches on the island. It was a warm time of worship, sharing, and prayer. I won't forget the tasty sinuk mani (a sweet rice treat) served on banana leaves by the host church that day. Then we walked back across the rice fields. Soaked again with rain, I took a picture of my muddy feet. Later I sent copies, with Isaiah 52:7 written on them, to the churches that were supporting me. When we get involved in God's mission, muddy feet and rain-soaked clothes may be among the least of the challenges we face. But they won't measure up to the joys of sharing the good news and gathering for fellowship with believers in remote places. Where is God leading you to bring the good news? Thank you, Lord, for the joys of cross-cultural fellowship. Be with mission workers who may be struggling with cultural-adjustment challenges today. In Jesus, Amen.

Did you know that your feet contain around a quarter of all the bones in your body? It's true! Each foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 ligaments, tendons, and muscles. From a medical standpoint, feet are amazing. But Romans 10:15 gives a different perspective. The verse says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace.”Sharing the gospel message with people is incredibly important. Show your son, through action, how to talk about Jesus. Then, if your son has accepted Christ as his Savior, teach him to share his own testimony. The more you and your son proclaim the gospel to others, the more you honor Christ through your lives. For more encouragement and parenting advice, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

The Secret to Having Beautiful Feet (today you will find out) (Romans 10:14-17) by Sun Valley Church
Bible Reading: Isaiah 52:7-10; Romans 10:13-17"I hate my feet!" said Madison. "They're too big.""They are not!" replied Emory, her older sister. "You're tall, so you need bigger feet to move around and hold you up." She grinned. "I think your feet are beautiful." Madison laughed. "Thanks. I wish everyone felt that way. Sometimes kids make fun of my feet.""Well, just because some people think smaller feet are more beautiful doesn't mean they're right," said Emory. "But I know their words can still hurt--and people's opinions can also be hurtful in other ways. People in China once thought only small feet were beautiful too, and girls' feet were wrapped up so tight that they couldn't grow."Madison frowned. "Did they really do that?""Yeah, a long time ago," Emory said. "It was very painful, and girls weren't able to use their feet the way they were supposed to. A book I read told a story about a Chinese woman who had her feet bound when she was very young, and they hardly grew at all. When she was older, she had to be carried to lots of places because her feet were too delicate to walk over rough or uneven ground."Madison's eyes widened. "That's horrible!"Emory nodded. "But you know what? The woman in that story eventually learned that her feet were beautiful not because of their size but for another reason.""Really?" asked Madison. "What was it?""Well," said Emory, "the woman became a Christian. After she got married, she and her husband became missionaries to their own people--the Chinese.""And?" prompted Madison when Emory paused."Don't you see? This woman was using her feet to spread the good news of Jesus, and the Bible says that people who do that have beautiful feet!" Emory explained. "Where in the Bible does it say that?" Madison wanted to know."Somewhere in Romans," said Emory. "The point is, using your feet to go tell others about Jesus makes them beautiful. God gave us feet so we could use them, and the best way to do that is to go into the world and share the message that Jesus died for our sins so we could have peace with God."Madison looked at her feet again and smiled. "Then I want to have big, beautiful feet!" –Jean A. BurnsHow About You?How do you feel about your feet? Do you think they're beautiful? Your feet were created with care by God, and He wants you to use them.
