We analyze the current legislative landscape in Ohio with a focus on bills that intersect with church and state issues. We start with House Bill 485, the Baby Olivia Act, which aims to mandate the annual showing of a misleading anti-abortion fetal development video in public schools. We also look at House Bill 486, the Charlie Kirk Heritage Act, its problematic nature, which promotes a narrow view of Christianity's influence on culture and history. We segue into the controversial School Chaplain Act, House Bill 531, which proposes introducing volunteer chaplains into public schools, a move that sparks concerns regarding the adequacy of mental health support currently provided in schools. I outline the differences between this legislation and similar efforts in other states and offer my critical perspective on the necessity of employing chaplains versus qualified mental health professionals.Later, Federal issues also take center stage as we look at National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 signed by President Trump in September that authorizes federal law enforcement to go after people and groups they consider anti-Christian.This episode was produced from a Zoom meeting hosted by the Secular Humanists of Western Lake ErieFull Show Notes & Links UsedSubscribe to Free NewsletterCheck out our Merch
Send us a textIn this open conversation, Sean and Jonathan reflect on the recent death of Charlie Kirk and what it means for the future of faith, culture, and politics. We wrestle with hard questions about free speech, the church's response to political issues, and the rise of violence in our communities. This episode is less about answers and more about honest dialogue — asking what the church must do now and where we go from here.Support the show
We're bringing back one of our most popular episodes from the archive with Ron Tite, because the lessons are just as relevant today as when we first recorded it. As salespeople, we all know that grabbing attention and earning trust are two of the hardest (and most critical) parts of the job. Ron breaks down exactly how to do both without relying on gimmicks or old-school tactics.Meet Ron TiteRon Tite is the founder and keynote speaker of the Toronto-based agency Church+State, and the author of Think Do Say: How to Seize Attention and Build Trust in a Busy, Busy World. With a background as an executive creative director at a multinational ad agency and years of experience as a stand-up comedian, Ron brings a unique blend of creativity, storytelling, and practical business insight to the world of sales and marketing. Why Attention Alone Isn't EnoughSalespeople are fighting for space in an overcrowded marketplace. From flashy billboards in Times Square to hyper-targeted street-level sellers, everyone's competing for attention. But attention without trust won't get you very far. Ron explains why chasing vanity metrics is a dead end and how to build credibility in a noisy world. The Three Anchors: Think, Do, SayRon shares a simple but powerful framework:· Think: What do you truly believe in as a salesperson?· Do: How are you reinforcing those beliefs through your actions?· Say: How are you communicating them authentically without falling into “pitch slap” mode? When you align these three, your outreach feels human, real, and trustworthy.Invest in Being GoodJust like comedians can't fake being funny, salespeople can't fake caring about their clients. Long-term success doesn't come from gimmicks or platform-hopping, it comes from genuinely adding value and building relationships.Real-World Examples· Red Bull: Their entire brand is built on a belief (life with an adrenaline rush is better) and consistently reinforced through actions and messaging.· Ron's own career: His first big client came not from tricks, but from trust he'd built over years.Lessons for Sales Leaders· Don't hire someone hoping they'll “save” the business—hire coachable people who are hungry to learn.· Give your team clear responsibilities so they can excel where they're strongest.· Focus on humanity and credibility over hacks and short-term wins.“Looking for ways to seize attention and build trust may be difficult, but resist the desire to scheme. Do the hard work, be human, and focus on solving real problems.” – Ron TiteResources· Connect with Ron Tite on LinkedIn or follow him on Twitter and Instagram.· Check out his book: Think Do Say.· For more sales insights, connect with Donald on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.Sponsorship Offers1. Conversations on Groong - September 4, 2025In this episode of Conversations on Groong, we speak with international human rights lawyer Robert Amsterdam about the arrest and pre-trial detention of Armenian businessman and Church benefactor Samvel Karapetyan. We explore how Armenia's courts are being used in a campaign of lawfare targeting political opponents and the Armenian Apostolic Church, following growing tensions between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's government and religious leaders. Amsterdam discusses the legal inconsistencies, the weaponization of pre-trial detention, and how these actions violate international norms. We also examine the broader consequences for Armenia's legal system, religious freedom, and international reputation.Topic: Arrest of Samvel KarapetyanPre-trial detention practicesLawfare and double standardsArmenia's global consequencesGuest: Robert AmsterdamHosts: Hovik ManucharyanAsbed BedrossianEpisode 468 | Recorded: September 4, 2025SHOW NOTES: https://podcasts.groong.org/468VIDEO: https://youtu.be/0aa4tvYVL7M#Lawfare #Armenia #ReligiousFreedom #PoliticalPrisoners #SamvelKarapetyanSubscribe and follow us everywhere you are: linktr.ee/groong
Welcome to the What's Next! Podcast with Tiffani Bova. This week, I'm reflecting on a conversation I shared with Ron Tite a while back. Ron is a best-selling author, entrepreneur, speaker and investor. He has been an award-winning advertising writer and Creative Director for some of the world's most respected brands. He is Founder and CEO of Church+State, an agency that unifies content and advertising for global brands and media companies. He has written for television, a children's book, a hit play and an award-winning comedy book. He was the Executive Producer & Host of the award-winning comedy show, Monkey Toast and now hosts the podcast The Coup. THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR…brands looking for unique ways to build trust and talk about your purpose in an authentic and focused way. TODAY'S MAIN MESSAGE…Ron gives us his insightful and humorous take on building brands. He talks about using humor and creativity to deliver insight, investing your time and creative energy in the “original.” Every brand and organization should have a belief that goes beyond product; a belief that provides purpose. Once you have that, you must do something actionable that reinforces that purpose, and if that purpose is truly sincere and essential to your brand, it will be worth talking about....So, talk about it! WHAT I LOVE MOST…Ron talks about seizing the attention of customers and employees by staying curious, staying passionate, and building that authentic trust with a twist of humor. In this episode of Thinking Christian, Dr. James Spencer and Nate dive into the recent Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) vote addressing Christian nationalism. They explore what makes Christian nationalism problematic from a biblical perspective, distinguishing it from both healthy political engagement and American civil religion. With examples ranging from Ten Commandments in classrooms to Doug Wilson’s patriotic theology, they challenge lazy uses of the term "Christian" and advocate for theological precision. The conversation closes with reflections on how believers can engage faithfully in politics without confusing the kingdom of God with the kingdoms of this world. Subscribe to Our YouTube Channel!

The most annoying convert TradCath in the world, JD Vance, whose cherubic face belies all his bootlicking aggression, gets his moment with Pope Bob. Usha stands behind him in a black mantilla. He hands the pontiff an oversized envelope: an invitation from Donald and Melania to a White House dinner. Bob smiles guardedly as he takes it and without looking at it, setting it on his desk. “I'll read that at some point,” Vance sputters, “of course, of course.” The scene is set for the Church-State tension of whatever phase of global fascism we're now entering. These ghouls who jail students, disappear immigrants, and lobby for the Trump Gaza resort, shuffle into the Vatican with hats in hand to meet a fellow American who is nothing like their boss, asking for pats on the head, wondering what kind of alliance they can forge, perhaps through anti-wokeness discourse. The enigmatic response from Pope Bob sums up where we all are as we read the incense swirls for whether he's going to keep steering the world's 1.4B Catholics against the tides of late-stage capitalism and environmental protection, Francis-style. How we brought down Goliath: A 30th anniversary message from Kevin Annett The campaign that exposed genocide in Canada began with the firing of Kevin Annett from the United Church on January 23, 1995. The movement he sparked eventually led to the topping of Pope Benedict and the rise of the global sovereignty and common law movement. Wherever we find references to Babylon in the Bible, we're frequently reminded of man's failed attempt to ascend to the heavens. This is due in part to the fact that “Babel” and “Babylon” happen to be the same word in Hebrew. On this edition, Shane walks through a variety of Old Testament passages that relate to this theme and contrasts them with prophecies about Israel's coming Messiah.SHOW NOTESRecommended BooksBabylonian Life & History, E.A. How do you make a story truly come alive? You pace things down and focus on the small details. Everyone else might want the big, flashy story, but your most effective (and ownable) stories are from noteworthy moments, not newsworthy events. In this episode, Ron Tite puts on display his otherworldly mastery of public speaking and performance. He takes a (relatively average) hotel and uses a series of interactions with the brand to make you laugh, feel inspired, and transform how you think about customer experience, social media, and even story structure. Of course, this story could ONLY be told by Ron Tite. It's ownable for him. Ron spent 20 years as a comedian before shifting to the business world, where he founded the successful marketing and advertising agency Church+State. He's written multiple books, including his latest, Think Do Say, and he tours the world as a keynote speaker, delivering gripping talks to thousands of people and generally making you laugh, think, and change your approach to marketing. Ron and I discuss what we can learn from standup comedy, the differences between a warm open and cold open (and how to craft them), his hilarious relationship with the Westin Grand in Vancouver (they're in love!), and how to design and deliver stories that only YOU can tell—without making yourself the hero. It's an episode you probably won't want to end. Ron is one of the very best in the world at this, and his energy is infectious.Connect with Ron on his website and LinkedinGrab a copy of his books, Think Do Say and Everyone's An Artist(Or At Least They Should Be)Learn about Church+State on their website***IMPROVE YOUR SPEAKING + STORYTELLING: Subscribe to my newsletter and learn more about me at jayacunzo.comWork with me one-on-one: jayacunzo.com/servicesBook me to speak: jayacunzo.com/keynotes***CONNECT:Follow me on LinkedIn, Instagram, or BlueskyThis episode was produced by Ilana NevinsCover art designed by Blake Ink***ABOUT ME:I help business leaders become stronger speakers and storytellers. The goal isn't to get in front of your audience. The goal is to ensure they care. While others agonize over reach, your ability to resonate helps you compete on the influence of your ideas, not the volume of your marketing. With my clients, I help clarify + differentiate their message, craft their thinking and expertise into a distinct premise and IP they own, and develop signature speeches, frameworks, and stories to influence, inspire, and drive results. After making a name for myself as an early advocate for quality and storytelling in content marketing at brands like Google and HubSpot, I've partnered with orgs like Mailchimp, Salesforce, Wistia, and GoDaddy and consulted dozens of authors, entrepreneurs, execs, and creators on their storytelling, messaging, and public speaking.I live in the Boston area with my family as a proud Yankees and Knicks fan (yes, I'm in enemy territory). I went on The Catholic Current yesterday to talk about what the role should be between the Faith and the government. Should we aim for a full “separation,” as is common among atheists and Christians alike in the modern age? If not, what would an alternative look like? It was a really enjoyable conversation on one of my favorite topics: https://directory.libsyn.com/episode/index/id/32054272

Some Christians in our day push back against the idea of “the separation of church and state,” but David VanDrunen argues that, in reality, this is a crucial distinction taught throughout the Bible. So what is the proper view of government from a Christian perspective and how should we think about the relationship between theology and politics? Get a copy of Woke Jesus: The False Mesiah Destroying Christianity - https://amzn.to/3yo9xux Wokeism, also known as cultural Marxism, is a progressive ideology that has infiltrated various aspects of society, including the church, schools, and the medical field. Its goal is to tear down the existing societal framework and create a new system. Wokeism has been intentionally injected into these institutions through the influence of organizations like Open Society and ties to Communist China. The origins of wokeism can be traced back to the 1700s with the evolution of critical theory and deconstruction. The progressive nature of wokeism constantly pushes for further change and deconstruction, leading to a departure from logical and moral values. Lucas Miles discusses his journey of recognizing and addressing the infiltration of progressivism and woke ideology in the church. He shares his experiences with the university system, local politics, and the impact it had on his church. Miles emphasizes the importance of standing strong in the face of cultural pressure and not compromising the gospel. He explains the theological roots of wokeism and the dangers of progressive ideology in the church. He also provides guidance on identifying signs of woke ideology in churches and highlights the need for strong male leadership in the fight against it. Lucas Miles is a trusted voice in the American church who has consistently addressed some of the most challenging topics in theology, politics, and culture. He hosts The Epoch Times', Church & State with Lucas Miles, which was named the 2023 “Program of the Year” by the National Religious Broadcasters organization. Lucas has been syndicated in articles across both political and religious news outlets, such as Newsmax, The Blaze, FlashPoint, Fox News, The Washington Times, CBN, and The Christian Post. Prepare to be transported through time as we uncover the historical tapestry of church and state separation. Our episode may kick off with a chuckle over tortillas and feline antics, but the conversation soon picks up where we left off in our previous episode and sails into the profound ocean of the past, where the power struggles and political intricacies that led to the modern-day relationship between church and state unravel. Stephen guides us from the era of the French crown's defiance against Papal authority to the religious upheavals that heralded the rise of denominations. The journey doesn't stop there, as we navigate through the tumultuous waters of the Western Schism and the historic resolutions borne from the Council of Constance. The Renaissance, sparked by the influx of Byzantine Christians into the West, brought forth an intellectual reawakening that reshaped the very fabric of society. We traverse the philosophical and cultural shifts that arose from this pivotal moment in history, exploring how the recognition of individual dignity challenged the medieval societal structures and influenced the modern Western world. This episode is a feast for the mind, layered with tales of ecclesiastical authority, schisms, and the quest for unity that continues to influence the church and state dynamic to this day.Have something you'd love to hear Fr. We realized we rushed last week and didn't apply the lessons from history. So in this episode we try to pull some lessons from the flyover of history we did in the last episode. RECAP/TAKEAWAYS Here are the lessons we pulled out of our conversation last week. Be humble. We're all men of our times. Political machinery can't solve soul problems. History is shaped by religion and belief. History/politics is more complex than we realize. We all have baggage that we don't recognize. The lines have not been clear enough between God's kingdom and the kingdoms of the earth. The church is not in service to the government. The point of religion is not to make men moral. Civil religion is not Christianity. The church is not a voting bloc. And it cannot become that. This is not the worst time in American History. Yes, the scripture is the answer, but it is not flexible in service of my viewpoint. Our temptations are not different than they have been before. The short-term temptation of power is always present. GET IN TOUCH: We'd love to hear from you. Please send us an email or question at comment@cithonahillpodcast.com.
