It is amazing what can be accomplished through the united mission of a group of people, isn’t it? When we are united together there is strength, focus and purpose keeping the project driven until it’s finished. In Nehemiah 3 we get to see the people begin the work of repairing the walls. And let me tell you, they were UNITED! Each had a section to strive on, and their purpose was clear. Over a very short time they took the city from a disgrace to a protected and honorable condition again. They worked where they lived, worked, played, and were sent in order to make this happen. We have a mission in front of us. It’s where we live, in our homes and neighborhoods. It's where we work with clients and colleagues. It's where we go fro recreation with friends. And It's where God has sent us into our community, and around the world. We need to unite in order to accomplish it! Join us Sunday for one of our worship services to see how the work done in Nehemiah 3 gives us a good picture of how we can walk united for God’s glory and His mission! -Pastor Ben Key Verse - Nehemiah 1:8 - "Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, ‘If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations,'" For Scripture, notes, upcoming events, & more: http://bible.com/events/49450998
In a 1985 episode of the original run of the GI-JOE: A Real American Hero cartoon series, COBRA created the fictional rock band, Cold Slither, to perform music with subliminal messages to control the masses. Forty years later, HASBRO and RPM have brought this band to life, with the Cold Slither album dropping on July 25, 2025. Episode 199 of A-SIDES features a conversation Gus Rios, who has brought Cold Slither to life. He shares his love for GI Joe, his path to music, maintaining mental health, and why he was the perfect fit for the Cold Slither project. If you want to read Gus' article in Decibel, you'll find it here. If you're in the San Diego area, you can see Gus bring Cold Slither to life before your eyes at Brick By Brick on the eve of the album's release. You can also find the Cold Slither record through the RPM label. Huge thanks to Gus Rios, RPM, and everyone who listens! Yo Joe!

Have you faced a project that seems insurmountable but you knew it needed to get done? What did you do? Avoiding it won’t get it done. Stressing out about it frustrates not only ourselves but everyone around us. Have you tried taking it to God and laying your burden before Him and letting Him open the doors then walking through as He provides? Have you asked your church family for help? That’s why we are here! God placed a burden on Nehemiah’s heart for the walls of Jerusalem to be rebuilt. This week, we see how God opens the door for Nehemiah to talk with the king about his burden, and it is even further opened for him to have time off and to make requests for resources from the king. Nehemiah’s heart and attitude that has been practiced in private comes out clearly in public, then he boldly makes requests knowing that the hand of God is moving. This keeps him confident even in the face of opposition. Key Verse - Nehemiah 2:17 - Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in, how Jerusalem lies in ruins with its gates burned. Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer suffer derision.” For Scripture, notes, upcoming events, & more: http://bible.com/events/49450996

Each one of us has a role to play in God's great building. We're described as living stones; our lives and faith are being built one brick at a time. Join us as we look at how we are built together and shaped by God for his purposes.
The weight and pressure we feel to accomplish, provide, succeed, produce, and prove ourselves can be overwhelming. Like the constant voice of an enemy reminding us of our shortcomings, burdens can bring us to our knees in a crippling fashion. These are the every so common, and constant status of people all over the world. One of the greatest burdens we feel is the one to please God. It can feels impossible to lift, likely because on our side apart from Christ it is. This kind of burden we are called to lay down in trusting dependence on God. As we step into Nehemiah there is a burden we see not land on his shoulders as many burdens do, but this one sinks into his heart. This kind of burden is different… Instead of pressure to perform, there is an urgent need to act. An unrelenting draw and call that caused Nehemiah’s heart to ache and his spirit to feel weak. This kind of burden we are called to take up and run with endurance until it is resolved. What kind of burden do you carry today? Join us this weekend as we launch into our summer series through Nehemiah, looking through the burden and call he received from the Lord! See you Sunday! -Pastor Ben Key Verse - Nehemiah 1:4 - "When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven." For Scripture, notes, upcoming events, & more: http://bible.com/events/49447593
One step at a time. That's the only way this thing is going to work. You cannot rush the process, you cannot rush greatness, you have to build this brick by brick. Think about the most beautiful piece of architecture that you've ever seen. Now think about how long it might've taken to build that. Do you believe that it took a day? A week? A Month? No. It probably took years of dedication and hard work. This is what brick by brick means. Moving forward and building up on brick at a time. It's fair to say that public speaking is hated by most of the population - you're on display, all eyes on you, your hearts racing, and palms are sweaty.Sounds like a shit time to me.Well those are all normal reactions to pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and getting on stage. My public speaking journey starts when I was just 10 years old as Cinderella at my school production, next was when I was 16 years old and I became house leader at my high school , and then it was in my third year of uni when I won top of the class and $2.5k for my internship presentation. No one is born with the ability to public speak, it's something you craft over time, and if you're an extroverted person, you might get a little kick out of the thrill, and the pre-stage nerves are worth the feeling of euphoria afterwards. This is why I public speak.Because I am so damn proud of myself every time I do it. I'm not the biggest fan of the task itself, but I love the confidence it instills in me and that's what we're chatting about today!I can attribute most of my self confidence to the opportunities I have had to public speak and now I'm taking that to the next level this year with Toastmasters, tune in for a goodie.

In this podcast, host Dr Anna Volkmer explores the use of Lego Serious Play as a research tool / methodology in dementia and neurodegenerative disease studies. Traditionally used in therapy and organisational development, Lego Serious Play is now finding its way into the research world—helping researchers, participants, and stakeholders express complex ideas, foster collaboration, and build deeper insights (literally and metaphorically). Anna is joined by a panel of expert guests: Dr Warren Donnellan, University of Liverpool – a trained facilitator of Lego Serious Play who applies it to resilience and carer research. Dr Alys Griffiths, University of Sheffield – who has integrated the method into dementia studies and her work in Motor Neuron Disease. Dr Joe Langley, Sheffield Hallam University – known for combining design thinking and participatory research methods, including Lego Serious Play, in health and care settings. Together, they explore the origins, applications, and benefits of this playful method, share case studies, and reflect on how building with Lego can break down communication barriers and empower participants—particularly those with dementia. -- Topics covered:

Episode 76: Hey guys!! It's just you and me today. My goal with this episode is to help reframe your mindset when approaching your health. I think so often we reach for quick fixes instead of incorporating habits that will give us long term results. So today, we're going through the blueprint to building your “dream house” aka your “dream body.” When my health was suffering, these types of mindset shifts are what helped me stay focused on how I wanted to FEEL instead of getting distracted by fads that wouldn't have any long term benefits. The whole idea is to create a home that is custom to you, built on a strong foundation, that you're happy to live in!! I hope you live this episode and it inspires you to build your dream home! If everyday you were given a set number of bricks, over the course of a lifetime what would you build? We have been instructed by God to steward his resources and wait for the day the value of our work is tested by fire. You don't want to miss our final installment of “As Christ loved the Church."
A great life is created one habit, routine, and system at a time. Need a place to start? Lay your first brick down here.
Clinical psychologist Dr Julie Smith has a gift for explaining complex ideas in under a minute (which is GREAT for new-age attention spans). With over 4.8 million TikTok followers, two best-selling books and a glowing endorsement from our own Dr Em, having Dr Julie join our Academy of Imperfection is nothing short of a dream. In this episode, Dr Julie reframes the feeling of overwhelm, helping us to see it as valuable information about how we might not be meeting our needs, rather than something to fear. Then, it’s all about confidence, baby. Getting into the nitty-gritty, Ryan and Dr Julie redefine failure, showing how confidence isn’t just built from successes, but from every experience – good, bad and (luckily for Hugh) the awkward. Oh, and did we mention she’s Dr Em approved? Smithy, we’d gladly talk to you forever. If you want to watch this full episode on YouTube, follow this link: https://bit.ly/4iwtFwz

Pastor Alex Suber delivers a message entitled "Brick By Brick."
Mission first, people always. "People always" means leadership that produces shalom in church. "Mission First" means always moving towards the goal. No distractions, no getting sidetracked. Make sure the people around you are leading you towards your shalom.
Tune out the noise! Every great work has its haters. Practice patience and persistence: have a "mind to work." Address the threats, but never forget that GOD's power is making the work effective. Never, ever put down your sword. The enemy is real.
Sorrow: pray about what hurts your heart, it will clarify your calling. Waiting: seasons of prayerful waiting prepare us for life-changing moments. Action: when the time is right, check in with GOD, then DO IT!
