As more and more attention gets paid to the environmental hazards of PFAS and PFOS chemicals – especially in drinking water, Congress is considering several different approaches to remediate the problem. One of them that's already passed the House would use the Environmental Protection Agency's existing Superfund program to regulate the contaminants and order cleanups. And while the approach might seem fairly straightforward, our next guest argues it's more likely to lead to years of litigation than actual environmental cleanup. Philip Comella leads the Environment and Energy Practice Group at the law firm Freeborn and Peters. He wrote an article a few weeks back arguing that Superfund is the wrong tool for the job, he joined the Federal Drive to discuss
The Collapse of Materialism - Can human consciousness be explained by Darwin and materialist science? Does matter exist outside of the mind, with no rationale or direction, the universe created completely by chance? Since ancient Greece, materialists have held that there is no room for purpose or design. We exist in a random and unconscious universe that has evolved through "natural selection." However, a very different view of the universe and its creation has co-existed with the materialist point of view. In this version, the universe is the creation of a powerful and purposeful mind, one that exists outside of matter, and is, in fact, the creator of matter. For millennia, these two opposing viewpoints have clashed, often with catastrophic results. In The Collapse of Materialism, author Philip Comella proposes a profound shift in the way that we look at the exchange of beliefs between these two domains. Envisioning the end of the mechanical scientific worldview as it is currently taught, Comella believes that civilization may be at the beginning of a new epoch, a time of great spiritual awakening with humanity transcending to a higher truth, one that unifies the now colliding cultures of science and religion. Philip Comella is a lawyer, visionary futurist, and host of the popular radio show Conversations Beyond Science and Religion, podcast at www.webtalkradio.net. His book, The Collapse of Materialism: Visions of Science, Dreams of God, is a culmination of decades of work committed to developing a new and credible scientific paradigm to unify the physical world of science with the metaphysics of religion. Philip Comella - The Collapse of Materialism
Philip Comella, takes a fresh and bold look at the debate between science and religion—and attempts to go farther than any other book to unite them. “For years, we have been led to believe that the universe traces its roots back to the Big Bang, a cataclysmic explosion of ethereal energy that resulted in the formation of the planets, stars, and everything in-between. Suppose, though, that the cosmos wasn't, in fact, borne of a random eruption—but rather stems from the ever-evolving imagination of a multi-dimensional dreaming mind? Such a drastically different perspective would no doubt change the way we see not only ourselves, but also our place in the infinite realm of the universe. Such is the central premise of The Collapse of Materialism. Probing, well written, and thoroughly researched, Comella's insightful volume serves as a treatise on the popular misconceptions that the world of science would lead us to believe about the origins—and subsequent development—of the universe. Comella paints the compelling picture of life as a purposeful, directed means to an end. Bolstered by a wide range of enlightening sources, including religion, eastern philosophy—and science itself—this book breaks important ground regarding the limited purview of life as we've come to know it, encouraging readers to explore the unfettered depths of a new vision of universal purpose.” — Dominique Sessons, Apex ReviewsCOMMENTS

Do Darwin and materialist science have the only answers for humanity? Or does human consciousness demand a much more expansive vision? Lawyer and visionary futurist Philip Comella is the author of the new book The Collapse of Materialism: Visions of Science, Dreams of God, in which he explores the dramatic spiritual awakening taking place on the planet right now. Philip invites us to transcend the "truths" of the past to discover a higher truth, a glorious new epoch in which science and religion are no longer at odds with one another. Many have suggested we live in a materialistic universe that is random and unconscious, evolving only through the constructs of natural selection. An alternative view has co-existed, one that describes the universe as a conscious creation existing beyond the limitations of matter, indeed creating matter itself. The seemingly endless collisions between these two competing world views need not hinder humanity forever. We will explore Philip's groundbreaking predictions on how a unified vision of reality is not only possible, but already in existence. In addition to his professional life as a lawyer, visionary wayshower Philip Comella is the host of the popular radio show Conversations Beyond Science and Religion. Philip's book is the culmination of decades of work studying how the physical world of science can be unified with the metaphysics of religion. Worrying about the future seems to be part of human nature. We want certainty about what is going to happen — to our investments, our children’s education, careers, the human race — but get only doubts. And then doubts become fears, as we prepare for the worst, and hold out a little hope for something better. Philip Comella’s guest this … Read more about this episode...

Beginning most notably with the Buddha, which means the “awakened one,” the concept of awakening has been a central part of spiritualism up to the present day. But what exactly is awakening and what are we awakening to? A higher form of consciousness? But what does this mean in the practical world?
