In this must-listen paranormal podcast episode of Open Loops, Greg interviews John Fraser—Council Member of the Society for Psychical Research and author of Paranormal Perspectives: One Big Box of Paranormal Tricks. Together they explore the groundbreaking idea that all paranormal events—from ghosts to poltergeists to UFOs—might stem from a single psychic force within us. That's right. No polyamorous forces, Aubrey Marcus. Cool your jets.Fraser, wo has investigated hundreds of cases including the Enfield poltergeist and the Cage haunting in Essex, lays out a compelling scientific and psychological framework. Instead of external entities, he suggests that stress, trauma, and altered states of consciousness may trigger these phenomena.John and Greg discuss hypnotic regression, ESP experiments, false memory formation, and why Fraser believes random event generator technology could be key to proving the paranormal scientifically. This conversation challenges demonology (sorry new Pope), explores the psychology behind ghost sightings, and makes a strong case for a unified paranormal theory. If you're curious about how consciousness, haunted locations, and poltergeist behavior intersect in a scientifically grounded way and you love how that all wraps together in one sentence optimized for SEO, this is the top fringe science podcast episode of 2025 to hear.

Welcome to Episode 43 of The Paranormal Rundown! Bert, the David Bowie look-a-like Dutch psychiatrist, is back with us again to discuss all things paranormal and psychological. Bert did his best to keep us on track, but I think he is going to have to schedule us for several more rounds of group therapy. We managed to cover Psychology vs Parapsychology, PSI, Tenhaeff, Nostradamus, Handling Paranormal and Spiritual Experiences in Therapy, Schizophrenia, The Mystery of Life Itself, The Castle of the Soul, The Desert Fathers and the Seven Steps to Habitual Sin, Childhood OCD, The Psychiatry of AI, AI as a Tool for the Neurodivergent, LLMs talking about Mary, Bullebak, and Frank Herbert's Dune. As you can see, we may need to up our dose of ADHD meds, but it certainly makes for an interesting Rundown! As mentioned in our last episode, our numbering scheme has changed. However, some knucklehead told Vic the wrong episode number when we started, so you are not going crazy if you noticed that episode 43 is called 42 in all the audio references. I have taken the culprit out behind the woodshed and dealt with the problem, so I promise it won't happen again! Now, if you will excuse me while I go find an ice pack to sit on...If you have any suggestions on what episode number we should use next time, please email us at feedback@paranormalrundown.comThe Paranormal Rundown is a partnership between the hosts David Griffith, Father Michael Birdsong, and Vic Hermanson.Be sure to check out our partner podcasts:You can find Vic at Trailer Trash Terrors, https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/vic-hermansonYou can find Father Birdsong at https://www.becomingahouseofprayer.com, as well as hear his new podcast Ending the Curse at:https://open.spotify.com/show/5yL7ZAN4wcRKnMPAlalVXW Hosted on Acast. In the first half, author and editor Craig Weiler discussed the intricate world of parapsychology, defining it as "the science of psychic ability," with major areas of research that include telepathy, precognition, and remote viewing. He emphasized the rigorous scientific methodology behind this field, stating, "We're not talking about ghost hunting shows; we're talking about scientists forming experiments...and presenting them at symposiums." Sharing his personal journey into parapsychology, he was sparked by skepticism that he encountered while blogging about psychic phenomena. He recounted, "I kept finding more and more that they were wrong," referring to critics who dismiss psychic abilities as nonexistent. This led him to a deeper exploration of the subject, culminating in his joining the Parapsychological Association."There are thousands of studies on telepathy," including ones that have provided substantial evidence for its existence, he cited. He elaborated on telepathy experiments where a sender and receiver, isolated in separate rooms, attempt to connect mentally through images. If the receiver accurately identifies the sender's images more than chance would allow, it suggests that telepathy is indeed occurring. The conversation shifted to the concept of telekinesis, or psychokinesis, where the ability to move objects with the mind is explored. Weiler explained that scientific experiments use a random number generator to see if subjects can influence the outcomes. He also described a specific experiment involving a small piece of tin foil placed under a bowl and manipulated mentally to rotate. While the results are often subtle, he noted, "I have seen some video of them getting it to move. It's a slow movement." Reflecting on the future of parapsychology, he expressed hope that it will eventually prove psychic phenomena is a fundamental aspect of consciousness.---------------In the latter half, master herbalist Sara Chana talked about the many herbal remedies to improve one's health and functioning. Once people learn how to include herbal medicine in their lives, they really can take care of the daily aches and pains, she explained. The spice cinnamon offers a number of health benefits, such as stabilizing blood pressure, and in clinical studies, it "can take care and get rid of salmonella and E. coli," she reported. For stress relief, she recommended skullcap, stating it calms without causing drowsiness. She also mentioned kava as a traditional relaxation aid, often used in the Philippines to ease tension during business meetings. Blue Vervain is another herb that has stress-reducing effects, she added.Chana highlighted the role of aromatherapy, stating that essential oils provide scents that "can create memories and shape your mood," including lavender, known for its calming effects. She described turmeric as "probably one of the biggest gifts we have on the planet," pointing out its anti-inflammatory properties and recommending it as a dietary staple. She also shared a unique herbal combination for memory preservation for those over 40, featuring rosemary, lion's mane, and gotu cola. The discussion also touched on medicinal vinegars, with Chana offering her recipe for "Fire Cider Vinegar," a concoction that harnesses the health benefits of garlic and onions.

Susan has actively investigated spook-lights in both Canada and her adopted home Italy, including in field work as an independent boots-on-the-ground UFO researcher. Over the last two decades her approach to the UFO subject has evolved from the nuts and bolts to more exotic and right brained thinking. Susan's first book Cosmic Witch was published in both English and Italian in August 2020. Susan has conducted a series of experiments based on and inspired by the work of the late mathematician, Dr A.R.G Owen and psychotherapist Dr. Joel Whitton popularly known as “The Philip Experiments” which will be the focus of her second book Cosmic Witch Vol. II Conjuring UFOs: UFOs, Social PSI, and Magic which will be available in late 2021 or early 2022. My special guest tonight is Satki who works with people to rid themselves of entities that pick can pick up in various ways including sexually. Visit her website. Parapsychology Main article: Parapsychology Participant of a Ganzfeld experiment which proponents say may show evidence of telepathy. Experimental investigation of the paranormal has been conducted by parapsychologists. J. B. Rhine popularized the now famous methodology of using card-guessing and dice-rolling experiments in a laboratory in the hopes of finding evidence of extrasensory perception.[20] However, it was revealed that Rhine's experiments contained methodological flaws and procedural errors. In 1957, the Parapsychological Association was formed as the preeminent society for parapsychologists. In 1969, they became affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science.[24] Criticisms of the field were focused in the creation (in 1976) of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (now called the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry) and its periodical, the Skeptical Inquirer.[25] Eventually, more mainstream scientists became critical of parapsychology as an endeavor, and statements by the National Academies of Science and the National Science Foundation cast a pall on the claims of evidence for parapsychology. Today, many cite parapsychology as an example of a pseudoscience. Parapsychology has been criticized for continuing investigation despite being unable to provide convincing evidence for the existence of any psychic phenomena after more than a century of research. By the 2000s, the status of paranormal research in the United States had greatly declined from its height in the 1970s, with the majority of work being privately funded and only a small amount of research being carried out in university laboratories. In 2007, Britain had a number of privately funded laboratories in university psychology departments.[30]Publication remained limited to a small number of niche journals.
