If you have heard our independent radio show, of magic, mystery and the unexplained then you know there is a place and a secret that has been kept from all of us. Now discover the real story behind Point Mystic... "The first sign that calls you to Point Mystic you might dismiss, but you couldn't mistake the second. Not if you have ever been to the light at the end of the world. It's a sensation that begins with the growing feeling that you belong somewhere else. Somewhere that doesn't make sense. Maybe you are standing on the edge of the woods or an abandoned field, or your own back yard. And behind you is the world you know. A world you are standing on the edge of, with all the light and the chatter, the furrowed faces and routine voices of everything you have ever known. You might even like that world, love the people in it. But in your heart, you know that you don't really fit. That you have always been on the margins of it, looking for a way in that you cannot find. And, inexplicably, you sense the way out there. You feel it like a sensation in your chest, pulling you forward. You sense it like a familiar voice that's called your name, somewhere just beyond the trees. And you want to follow that voice. And if you have the courage to listen to it, you begin to walk into the unknown, and away from the bright lights of civilization behind you." We are living in unprecedented times. Not just with the pandemic, but with our country, and the rest of the world, speaking up and fighting against racism that has been going on for centuries. Changes need to happen at every level of our society. If you can, please help support Black Lives Matter: https://www.thecut.com/article/george-floyd-protests-how-to-help-where-to-donate.htmlI’d also like to recommend season two of Scene on Radio, Seeing White, which goes into the history of systemic racism in the United States: https://www.sceneonradio.org/seeing-white/ And the latest episode of Point Mystic where you get to hear from an activist known as Xochitl in her own words of what it is to be Black in America: https://radiopublic.com/point-mystic-6rNAXq/s1!cd286_______________________________________________________________________________________________________Earlier this year, I was invited by Mike Troup of the Earth Collective to participate in a new show, Behind the Collective, where we put each other in the hot seat and ask questions about each other’s shows. In this particular episode, we talked about each of our first episodes, which led to discussions about writing, creativity, storytelling, and podcasting. Mike has graciously allowed us to run this episode of Behind the Collective for the Ostium listeners. Enjoy!

This week, we're exploring Christopher Reynaga's Point Mystic, playing "White Rabbit, Parts I and II" from that show. Point Mystic is a fiction show done up in a narrative-nonfiction style, à la This American Life—it's about Christopher's family, and the spookiness of the town they inhabit. The White Rabbit cycle was created in collaboration with Christopher's wife, Marguerite Croft, and their son Fox—and all three of them act (quite ably) in the show. It's a fascinating mixture of nonfiction interviews and fiction segments, but presented in such a way that each supports the other, which isn't as common as you'd think.

RADIO EPISODE #261 Normally I would have Lilly Forster tell you her story, but she can’t. She’s taken a vow of silence, and the story I’m about to share with you had been relayed by writing on a notepad at a picnic table outside of our town’s lighthouse, in one of the strangest interviews I’ve gotten in this show’s history. The story she has to tell is a hard one to take in. It involves a traveler from what may be another world, an eye transplant from what may be one of television’s most famous detectives, and the talent to see death. On our season finale, not all who are lost… wander. It’s time to reveal the secret of Point Mystic.
