In This Episode In this episode of the Age of Infinite, David Goldsmith sits down with physicist and futurist Isaac Arthur, creator of Science and Futurism with Isaac Arthur and president of the National Space Society, for a wide-ranging conversation about how humanity navigates the future while remaining deeply human. What begins as a discussion about science and space quickly expands into a broader exploration of how people think about the future, why many conversations about progress are actually rooted in the past, and how real future thinking requires lived experience, global awareness, and systems-level perspective. Drawing on experiences working across countries and cultures, David challenges the assumptions that often shape predictions about technology, population, and civilization, while Isaac explains how his work uses real physics and rigorous thinking to explore long-term possibilities for humanity. Together they examine why expansion beyond Earth should be understood not as an escape from our problems but as part of humanity's natural progression to build, explore, and grow—while wrestling with the deeper challenge of staying relevant, thoughtful, and human in a world changing faster than ever. Episode Outlines The core question behind the work Why this is not a rejection of process Space as expansion not an escape hatch Human enhancement without human eraser What staying relevant actually means What changes the first 10-30 years Meaning behind employment The long view continuity over optimization Biography of the Guest Isaac Arthur is the creator and host of the award-winning series Science & Futurism with Isaac Arthur, one of the world's largest long-form science and futurism channels. His weekly episodes—now numbering over 800—explore everything from space exploration, megastructure engineering, and interstellar travel to AI, post-scarcity economies, and the fate of civilizations across cosmic timescales. With over a million followers across YouTube and other platforms, Isaac has become a leading voice in accessible hard-science futurism, blending rigorous physics with imaginative, optimistic speculation about humanity's long-term future. His work delves deeply into how advanced civilizations—human or alien—might behave logistically, socially, and technologically under real scientific principles, covering topics such as Dyson spheres, planetary terraforming, the Fermi Paradox, post-biological life, and the far future of the Universe. His episodes are widely used in classrooms, STEM programs, and worldbuilding projects, and he frequently consults with science-fiction authors, game studios, and media producers. Isaac is also a regular guest across radio, podcasts, documentaries, and online programming. Beyond his role as a science communicator, Isaac serves as President of the National Space Society, advancing public understanding and advocacy for space development. He is also the Chairman of the Ashtabula County Board of Elections, where he brings the same dedication to civic service that he brings to public education. Isaac graduated top of his class in Physics at age 20, after grad school he served in the United States Army from 2003-2010, including deployment to Iraq and three years stationed in Germany. He lives on his farm in Ohio with his wife, State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur, and their three children, where they homeschool, run a small farm, and remain deeply involved in community life. Adriana Forte is a Brazilian-born writer, facilitator, and developmental thinker currently based in a rural intentional community in Bellingen, New South Wales, Australia. Originally trained as a journalist, Adriana has spent years investigating the intersection of women's cyclical biology, embodied knowing, and the structures of modern life. She runs retreats and workshops through her Substack platform C-Lab (A Lab for a Cyclically Informed Society), and is currently completing a book on the spell of modernity and the role of the matriarch as a force for cultural repair.________________In this conversation, James sits down with Adriana to explore one of the most under-examined questions in contemporary culture: what happens when society is built around a linear, continuous model of productivity — and half the population runs on a fundamentally cyclical one? Drawing on her own journey from Brazil through Hong Kong and India to off-grid life in rural Australia, Adriana maps the hormonal landscape of the female cycle and argues that the oscillation between estrogen and progesterone doesn't just produce moods — it produces a distinct mode of subjectivity, perception, and thought. We explore the cultural erasure of rites of passage, the psychological costs of the contraceptive pill, the wisdom encoded in perimenopause and menopause, and why Adriana believes the matriarch — the post-menopausal woman — may be the missing counter-energy to the relentless forward drive of modernity. The conversation moves through evolutionary biology, embodied philosophy, grassroots community-building, and genuine hope for a more rhythmically intelligent future.________________You can find Adriana's work at:Substack (C-Lab): https://theclab.substack.com/________________⏳ Timestamps:0:00 Intro - Our Bellingen Connection5:41 How Adriana ended up on this journey12:56 Critique of Modernity and Birth Interventions15:23 Rhythms and female psychology24:38 A map of the menstrual cycle39:11 The Influence of Modernity on Women's Psyche45:59 Transgender and phenomenology of hormones52:01 The oscillating nature of female psychology59:25 The spell of the System on modern psychology1:09:15 The challenge of organising around cyclical society1:15:03 Adriana's Matriarch Book1:18:43 Where to get more from Adriana1:19:39 Adriana's Guest Recommendation

This week on Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, tackles the issue of artificial intelligence (AI) and how we might just be able to use it to reclaim our humanity. This week, we are in conversation with Jason Delambre, a Kentucky entrepreneur, sustainability consultant, and Owner of Midwest Clean Energy Enterprise. Jason is a Certified Energy Manager who holds bachelors degrees in History and Architecture, and a Masters of Community Planning. Jason lives in Frankfort, Kentucky and works with clients to maximize profitability through effective utilization of natural resources and the development of ground‐breaking energy efficiency and carbon reducing solutions. Throughout his career, Jason has developed a unique vision of the economic and energy efficiency synergies possible through innovative business, infrastructural, financial, policy, and community organizing strategies. On January 30th, we brought Jason back to campus at UofL for another conversation about AI and Sustainability, this one called "Escaping the Grind: How AI Helped Me Reclaim My Humanity." We are often told AI will replace us. But what if it can liberate us? After 20 years of "grinding" through professional obligations and administrative exhaustion, Jason took a one-year sabbatical to see if he could rebuild his life. He shared the story of how he used AI to build a "digital scaffold" around his day-to-day life—handling the organization, the planning, and the details—so he could recover the bandwidth to focus on what matters: deep connection, creativity, and being present. Shifting the "robotic" work of our modern responsibilities to a machine allowed Jason to become a more grounded human. Jason recommends these recent articles on the impacts of AI: "Researchers Studied What Happens When Workplaces Seriously Embrace AI, and the Results May Make You Nervous" (Futurism): https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/what-happens-workplaces-embrace-ai "Something big is happening in AI — and most people will be blindsided" (Fortune): https://fortune.com/2026/02/11/something-big-is-happening-ai-february-2020-moment-matt-shumer/ As always, our feature is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW! Sustainability Now! is hosted by Dr. Justin Mog and airs on Forward Radio, 106.5fm, WFMP-LP Louisville, every Monday at 6pm and repeats Tuesdays at 12am and 10am. This week OpenAI's head of U.S. and Canada policy and partnerships Chan Park was hauled in front of a meeting with Canada's AI minister Evan Solomon after it was revealed that Jesse Van Rootselaar's ChatGPT account was suspended back in June for describing scenarios involving gun violence, and that a group of people at the company debated telling the RCMP, but didn't.Van Rootselaar went on to kill eight people in Tumbler Ridge, BC. The meeting has provided us with no new information. No answers about what Van Rootselaar said or wrote to ChatGPT, or what it said back. There are no substantial answers about why OpenAI didn't alert the police.Solomon and the federal government are saying they expect changes from the company. They are framing regulation as an option, but not an inevitable one.Today Maggie Harrison Dupré speaks with guest host Jason Markusoff. She is a senior staff writer at Futurism where she reports on the rise of AI. They discuss how chatbots can validate, rather than discourage users' dark or violent ideas and about why regulation isn't a louder drumbeat. For transcripts of Front Burner, please visit: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/frontburner/transcripts
Trust has always been the invisible architecture beneath brands, institutions, and markets. But today, that architecture is shifting. For the past decade, we've moved through distinct eras of trust. First came consequence brands, which positioned themselves around measurable moral impact. Then came emotion-led brands, where what felt right became the guiding force. Now we appear to be entering a third era, where trust is built not on credentials or transparency, but on visible sacrifice and embodied virtue. As institutional continuity weakens and shared reality fragments, credibility reorganizes around individuals. “Proof of knowing” carries less weight than “proof of doing.” Degrees, affiliations, and institutional endorsements are no longer sufficient signals. Instead, audiences look for lived experience, personal risk, and skin in the game. At the same time, many of the platforms designed to increase transparency have reduced everyday vulnerability. But true trust requires vulnerability. As a result, trust is reemerging in smaller, more intimate spaces where shared stakes and emotional exposure create safety. In this episode of Unseen Unknown, Jasmine and Jean-Louis explore how trust systems evolve, why incremental positioning feels insufficient in the current cultural climate, and what this shift means for founders and brands trying to remain credible. When trust becomes the product itself, the rules change.
