The Waverider is docked at STAR Labs. This week Bloodwork returns to try and take over the multiverse through infecting people with his blood. But he needs Kid Flash to do it. Diggle a.k.a. Spartan is in town for Barry's 2nd 30th birthday party. But after Blookwork poisons everyone at the party, and then takes over Wally, Barry suddenly is on his own. Before he could talk Wally out of his trance, he gets a vibrating hand through the chest! The long awaited return of Oliver Queen appears to Barry on Lian Yu, which is once again acting as the great void of purgatory. Using his powers as Spectre, he brings Barry back to life and then suits up as Arrow for one last battle together with Diggle and Wally. THE ISSUE: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind #1 By Hayao Miyazaki, Tom Orzechowski, Dana Lewis & Toren Smith Published 1989 by Viz Comics THE GUEST: Adam DeSouza Adam (Ish, A Gleaming) joins In This Issue... to discuss the first issue of animation legend Hayao Miyazaki's main contribution to comics, Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind—specifically the 1988 first issue, which was released in what we might call "Prestige Format" (please excuse me while I tie an onion to my belt). Lots and lots of hot takes about Miyazaki in general and Nausicaa in particular in this extra-long episode, as we're both huge fans of this work and find it impossible not to wax rhapsodic over it. We do hope you'll excuse our enthusiasm! Tune in next time for another close read with In This Issue...

This episode originally aired January 28, 2015. This week’s episode swings the pendulum back in a more mainstream direction by taking aim at a Jim Starlin Big Two cosmic event book with an oddball collection of heroes and a Machiavellian manipulator at the center of things. Infinity Gauntlet? Nope! Cosmic Odyssey! To make things even better, Mike and Greg are joined on this journey into mystery by Multiversity Comics’ own DC expert Brian Salvatore! The lads leave few, if any, stones unturned in this look back at the Prestige Format miniseries from 1988. Come for the Starlin talk, stay for the Mignola discussion and tons of other interesting tidbits, like what are each of our #fourcomics picks, which artist showed Brian that superheroes didn’t have to fit a certain artistic mold, why Batman plays the whole “don’t use guns” and “don’t kill” things pretty fast and loose in this series, how his relationship with Superman should be handled, and who turns out to be the character most affected by this series. Robots From Tomorrow is a weekly comics podcast recorded deep beneath the Earth’s surface. You can subscribe to it via iTunes or through the RSS feed at RobotsFromTomorrow.com. No Regular SILENCE! this week. We were all too stunned by the news that Rita Ora will be replacing Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model. Surely Rita can’t reach the preposterous heights of self importance that Tyra managed. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Instead we have the first SILENCE! Prestige Format, the special collector’s edition podcasts which was made available to C Unit Patreontologists back in January of this year. This is a nice chat between The Beast Must Die, Gary Lactus and Clark Burscough. Named after the last son of Krypton, Clark is the assistant director of the Thought Bubble. We talk about many things including the broken reading experience, The Amalgam Universe, his origins as a comics reader and Thought Bubble via the dad we all want, Invisibles, Grant Morrison, Marvel’s Doctor Who comics, 2000AD comics, comics comics, comics comics comics, the Thought Bubble party, his writing and Beef Ho Fun amongst many other things.
