Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn't a bad game, it's just a bad Arkham game. If you asked anyone what they wanted out of a sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight, I doubt a single person would say, "I want a co-op, live service Suicide Squad game," but that's what we got: a perfectly fine cooperative shooter with enough cutscenes to rival the runtime of The Return of the King: Extended Edition and four playable characters who feel mostly the same outside of unique traversal mechanics. But I guess it could have been worse; it could have been Gotham Knights instead.
It's unoriginal to blame negativity towards Batman: Arkham Knight on the batmobile, but hear me out. While most (all?) complained about the batmobile from a direct gameplay standpoint--how it felt and the repetitive missions--my complaint is an indirect one: I think the batmobile ruined Arkham Knight by forcing Rocksteady to change the way other aspects of the game controlled in order to accommodate the batmobile controls. It may seem like a small complaint to most and something I should've have "just gotten used to," but I never got used to the small changes in how Arkham Knight controlled and that ultimately ruined the game for me.
Episode Notes S6E9 -- Join us as we sit down with the one and only Rico Anderson. He'll be in the house telling tales from S.W.A.T to Get Gone and beyond. As an award winning actor, a sci fi nerd, the oldest of 11 children on his mothers side (6 biological / 5 adopted) and the 3rd of 4 children on his fathers side, Rico was born in Seaside/Monterey, CA and raised on the south side of Chicago as well as the San Francisco Bay Area. It was in Chicago where Rico's love for the arts began. As a little boy, his 3rd grade class went to a touring performance of The Wiz, starring Stephanie Mills. Even at that early age, Rico sat there mesmerized and amazed at the performances. Memories from that performance stuck in the back of his mind and would not surface until a few years later when his family moved to Berkeley, California. The bug bit again and Rico started performing in several plays and Independent films. Rico also majored in Theatre Arts at San Francisco State University. Eventually, Rico moved to Los Angeles and has been blessed to have many film, television, voice over and theatre credits to his name. It's been a while since I've replayed a game, since I put out an episode of Second Runs, but when I decided it was finally time to play Batman: Arkham Knight, I knew what needed to be done first: replay every Arkham game that came before (and play the ones I never played for the first time). That brings us here, with me revisiting Batman: Arkham Asylum for not the second time, but the third time--which I only learned after booting up the remastered version and seeing a 72% completion save in front of me. Long story short: Arkham Asylum is not only a great Batman game, but one of the greatest games of all time, and if you want the long story long, check out this episode and enjoy.

Hey! We're back at the movies, and this week's episode is focused on the strange and surreal taxi ride in the opening of the 1977 suspense film Suspiria. So we are driving to Escherstraße (Escher Street) in Freiuerg as the rain whips and thunder rolls (the big drum is also included but dialed back). As usual, this is ambience to relax with, so nothing frightening. There's nothing overly frightening at the film's beginning, either. Unless you count the moment, Suzy Bannion exits the terminal, and the wind hits her in a way that makes it look like she's being attacked by a spirit. Look, I know we're far past the scary season (far enough that my youngest has already started planning next year's costume). Yet I was reminded of this classic horror film over Thanksgiving while playing an old Batman video game. Batman: Arkham Knight (2015) was 95% off on Steam, so I bought it. I'm not a big fan of action/ adventure games; my faves are Animal Crossing and a flight passenger simulator. Yet I got totally hooked on a $5 skull-cracking button-masher (bonus: Kevin Conroy, the voice of daytime TV Batman who fought Gotham crime throughout my childhood, plays Batman). As I ate leftover turkey and sweet potato and fought crime in Gotham, I realized this was Suspiria-esque. The game's vibe felt pilfered from Suspiria in all the right ways: the odd oversaturation of color and the weird framing of characters (in Suspiria, there is a point where we focus on the back of some balding old dude's head). And so here we are, in a cab, traveling to Escherstraße. Christmas ambience coming soon! The ballet photo used in the episode cover is from Pixabay.

This week, Jared and Teladia outline why Death in comics has become a meaningless marketing tactic that is slowly losing its effectiveness. They use the Death of Superman and Death of the Justice League as examples of when comics used death as a marketing tactic. "The Death of Superman" is a crossover story event mostly featured in DC Comics' Superman-related publications. The crossover, which originated from editor Mike Carlin and writers Dan Jurgens, Roger Stern, Louise Simonson, Jerry Ordway, and Karl Kesel, began in December 1992 and lasted until October 1993. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a 2024 action-adventure shooter game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. Based on the DC Comics team Suicide Squad, it is a spin-off of the Batman: Arkham series, and a follow-up to Batman: Arkham Knight. Discussed in this episode 1. The origin of the death and rebirth trope 2. How the death of Superman broke death in comics 3. Why Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League failed as a marketing tactic 4. When Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League was released by Rocksteady, it was instantly labeled as disrespectful to the character of Batman and the Justice League as a whole. Now, how could Rocksteady have made the game more respectful to the DC characters? Well, Jared and Teladia discuss that very topic as they wargame how they would have made this game to make it more respectful to the legacy of Batman and the Justice League. THIS WEEK: FINAL FANTASY 7 REBIRTH has arrived!!! Rocksteady FINALLY gives us that much-needed Nintendo Switch patch update for Batman Arkham Knight. The POKEMON Company has announced the next Pokémon game. I give my thoughts on the debut of Peacemaker on MORTAL KOMBAT 1 and ED on STREET FIGHTER 6. SONY has begun layoffs of staff from some of your favorite studios. Then, in our FINAL STAGE, I fight for the Holy Grail with my review of FATE/SAMURAI REMNANT for the Switch.
I never gave my final Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League review but in light of the recent comments from Warner Bros, it's time to ask, was I wrong? The Suicide Squad game has fallen short of expectations for WB which calls into question if the Kill The Justice League game will last. More gamers are playing Batman: Arkham Knight now than they are playing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League... and Batman is a nine-year-old game. This is a HUGE oof for Rocksteady Studios, who could lose EVERYTHING over this game. ➡️ Tip Jar and Fan Support: http://ClownfishSupport.com ➡️ Official Merch Store: http://ShopClownfish.com ➡️ Official Website: http://ClownfishGaming.net Additional Context: "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" faced a rocky launch, resulting in an unexpected benefit for Rocksteady's older title "Batman: Arkham Knight," which saw a 51.19% rise in player count on PlayStation consoles in the last two weeks surrounding "Suicide Squad's" release. The situation underscores the challenges faced by "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" and the enduring popularity of "Batman: Arkham Knight". The opening weekend of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League makes it very clear to me that the critics are wrong. My Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League review is after 22 hours and still ongoing, but I don't see any thing warranting the incredibly low scores. Especially when you look at the user scores on Steam, Xbox, PlayStation. The Suicide Squad game has received a lot of criticism for the story and how you kill the Justice League which I find interesting. It seems many haven't actually played the game or paid attention to the story. Also virtually every Suicide Squad game review that I have read doesn't judge it as a live service game but as a game they wish wasn't. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an action shooter game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. The game is a spin-off of the Batman: Arkham series, and is a follow-up to Batman: Arkham Knight. I played it and I think Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is good so far. Much of the debate surrounding Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League gameplay is focused on that it's a live service game or how you kill the justice league. The Suicide Squad game is certainly not what many expected but I am enjoying it. This will not serve as a Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League review but rather first impressions. And in my opinion that game is better than I expected. The combat, graphics, and story really deliver. The recent Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League review code drama has been completely overstated. IGN was apparently so unhappy they published a false headline and article about the game's price in the UK. The Suicide Squad game launched today and they are apparently having server troubles. This will be a Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League preview roundup and they are pretty mixed. I've continued to maintain that Suicide Squad gameplay looks fun and the game is being judged unfairly. The Suicide Squad game is being criticized for being a live service game and not being another classic Arkham game. I plan to dive into Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League gameplay when it releases and give my own review. As someone who is anticipating the game I will be the first to be harsh if it doesn't deliver. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an upcoming action shooter game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games. It is the sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight. During Sony's State of Play February livestream, Rocksteady Studios revealed the first gameplay for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, confirming that it will be a live-service game focused on single-player and co-op gameplay. Playing as one of four members of the Suicide Squad, the players must stop Brainiac's invasion of Metropolis and confront possessed members of the Justice League. The game blends the Batman: Arkham Knight's framework with the flow and action of the likes of Sunset Overdrive. The game also includes RPG-style gear systems and live-service elements with a battle pass focusing on cosmetics. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is scheduled to be released on May 26 on PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S.
This podcast is vengeance. It is the Knight. It. Is. Batman! Batman Arkham Knight to be exact. Clint has been a longtime fan of this game and the series, and Bryan had been looking for a reason to complete his journey through the Arkham trilogy, so together they ventured out into the cold, autumnal Gotham air and recorded a podcast about what its like to inhabit Batman in Arkham Knight. Batman is a character they both have a lot of fondness (and some criticism for), and this outting being the most maximal of Batman video game experiences, heightens those affections, and flaws, to their apex. There is a bit of something for everyone in Arkham Knight: action adventure, brawler, exploration, driving, puzzling, vehicular combat, and all of it is fairly well integrated as part of the whole experience. We're now over 7 years out from this title's troubled launch on PC, and playing it on modern hardware was truly a visual and auditory delight. As a quick note: We played and recorded for this podcast just a few days before Kevin Conroy, the voice actor for Batman in this and many other appearances, suddenly passed away unexpectedly. He was a familiar voice in our collective memories from earlier days and helped make these games, and Batman in general, a cultural force over so many years. Three Word Reviews:Bryan - World's Greatest Detective?Clint - Be the Batman

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Elden Ring's latest patch has fixed a handful of issues, including a glitch that allowed invaders to crash the host's game. Invaders on PC could force the host to teleport to a different area of the map, resulting in the game crashing or players being stuck in an infinite falling animation. Developer FromSoftware has fixed the issue in the new patch 1.03.2, which is available to download now on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, and Steam. Gran Turismo 7 players are hitting back following a recent nerf to in-game rewards forcing players to grind even more to get enough credits to purchase new cars. Now, players have begun fighting back by exploiting a new way of grinding without even playing the game. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has officially been delayed to Spring 2023, confirming previous reports. The delay will mean that the Suicide Squad game will likely arrive almost eight years after Rocksteady's last major console game, Batman: Arkham Knight. Narz has all that in your Daily Fix!
