The conversation explores how companies are navigating growth, maintaining profitability, and adapting strategy in a rapidly shifting market, with a strong focus on learning from peers, strengthening teams, and positioning for the next phase of the industry. It's a grounded look at the challenges and opportunities shaping the sector right now, and what it takes to stay resilient through it.
Finally, it's come to this: The Roy episode. Roy befriends both Charlie Brown and Linus at camp. And if that's not exciting enough, old people talk about how neat telephones were. But maybe his main raison d'être is to introduce the world to the swinging-est character ever - Peppermint Patty. Dan & Manny welcome back longtime friend & Nostalgia Test Podcast all-star Steve Herrera to put The Delta Force (1986) & Sidekicks (1992) to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “I feel like we were fed a pack of fucking lies as kids.” -Manny Coelho In honor of Chuck Norris' life, the boys decided to do a double feature of his movies and, oh boy, not so sure if this was a good idea. The Delta Force & Sidekicks are examples of two very different parts of Chuck Norris' career, the mass explosions fighting stereotyped bad guys one-liners guns guns guns film and the “comedy” making fun of marginalized groups stereotyped characters weird sexual undertones one liners what is the plot movies. Sure, Dan & Manny could have done a really good movie of Chuck Norris' like Lone Wolf McQuade, but is that even good? Dan, Manny, & Steve try to figure out what these two movies are actually about, they wrestle with the fact that our collective nostalgia for the 80s and 90s is possibly clouding the social judgement of what's actually good from our childhoods, and Dan lays down the law about the Nostalgia content creator community. They also take down gym teachers, tell a funny story of actual quicksand at their high school in Mineola, and try to deal with the high amount of racism that these two movies seem to be able to pack in for some reason. Also, what they hell is The Delta Force even about? Is Sidekicks a mass hallucination, Joe Piscopo (that's all that needs to be said), and why is the dad character in Sidekicks one of the most useless characters in cinema history. The guys give major props to the late great Jonathan Brandis for acting his ass off and they name the true sidekick of Sidekicks. So, grab a plate of scrambled eggs a la The Delta Force, prepare for some intense hallucinations, breathe deeply, and set some bricks on fire because this might be the episode that destroys the guys' will Email us (thenostalgiatest@gmail.com) your thoughts, opinions, & episode idea for The Wheel of Nostalgia! Step into the dojo of ‘90s nostalgia as All2ReelToo's So Bad They're Good series kicks into high gear with a look at Sidekicks (1992)! This cult classic follows Barry Gabrewski, a bullied teen with a wild imagination and one ultimate dream—to become the sidekick to martial arts legend Chuck Norris. When fantasy starts to collide with reality, Barry takes matters into his own hands, training in martial arts to find confidence, courage, and maybe even his own spotlight. Starring Jonathan Brandis, Beau Bridges, Mako, Joe Piscopo, and Danica McKellar—with Chuck Norris playing himself—this episode dives into the film's blend of fantasy sequences, heartfelt moments, and gloriously cheesy action. Is it inspiring? Is it ridiculous? Is it both? We break down everything that makes Sidekicks a perfectly imperfect gem in the “so bad it's good” hall of fame. #All2ReelToo #SoBadItsGood #Sidekicks1992 #ChuckNorris #90sMovies #CultClassics #MartialArtsMovies #MoviePodcast #FilmReview #Nostalgia #BadMoviesGoodFun Listen now: all2reeltoo.com

This one has been a long time coming. Sidekicks is one of those movies that I have been in love with for a long time, and I am thrilled that we were able to watch it at the cabin this year. We didn't know at the time that we would lose Chuck Norris shortly after recording. This was definitely his mountain top. Enjoy!
Sidekicks is essentially The Karate Kid with a giant dose of wish fulfillment. In it, Barry Gabrewski (played by the late Jonathan Brandis) spends his days daydreaming about busting skulls with his favorite action hero, Chuck Norris. Of course, since this is a kid learns karate to better himself movie, he ultimately meets Norris, gets the girl, bests his bully, and overcomes the issues that have plagued him. Along the way, we get some good old timey 90s racism and a handful of fantasies themed around Norris' filmography. Sidekicks isn't exactly high art, but it will remind you that Norris generally just plays himself, as he does here, and the key to life is learning how to dodge dumplings. Now, sit back, douse those bricks with a Pupil IPA from Societe Brewing, and chase those dreams! The Thunderous Wizard and Bling Blake are donning our dusters and mullets to kick some mafia ass! This Week's Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Barry Gabrewski is about to learn that the greatest weapon you possess is self-control! Lingering Questions – Who's our ideal action movie partner? (26:02) The "Mr. Dumpling" Trivia Challenge – The Thunderous Wizard challenges the field to trivia about the movie. A daydreaming, asthmatic high school student teams up with his hero for a martial arts tournament. Listen as we chat about facts that are clearly satire, the time Alan kinda (but not really) met Danica McKellar, and the stupidest bully nickname ever. Then we see if Sidekicks stands the Test of Time.
In this episode of Cracktastic Plastic, we're going full beast mode as we dive into the wild world of animal sidekick toys! From loyal companions to scene-stealing critters, Jason, Elgn, and Mike dig into their collections to showcase some of their favorite furry, scaly, and robotic partners in plastic. Whether they're helping heroes save the day or just looking cool on the shelf, these sidekicks prove that sometimes the real star isn't the main character—it's the animal standing next to them. Expect plenty of nostalgia, deep cuts, and maybe a few unexpected picks along the way. Few things are more American than action movies where lone heroes murder foreigners with lethal impunity. Invasion USA proudly carries that torch. Only it does so poorly. Like most films starring the bearded badass known as Carlos "Chuck" Norris, Invasion USA is a Cannon joint. Yes, that Cannon. The script sucks, it looks cheap, and it somehow makes less sense than most other films in the genre. What it does do well, though, is depict all manor of patriotic fueled violence. So, come for the jean vest and dry quips but stay for the bazooka dismemberment. Now, sit back, stretch out those legs with a Big Dippa from Reformation Brewery, and find that armadillo! Barry, Barry. Why ya buggin? Barry Gabrewski (Jonathan Brandis) lives in his fantasies. Although creative, these dreams interfere with his real life. In all of these daydreams, Barry is the sidekick to Chuck Norris. Seems like some normal stuff there. Because of this, Barry has a hard time at school. His teacher, Noreen Chan (Julia Nickson), assists Barry and his dad, Jerry (Beau Bridges), and introduces them to her spirited uncle, Mr. Lee (Mako). Lee takes Barry on for Karate instruction, and we are treated to an array of training montages, awkward conversations with Lauren (Danica McKellar) and wild faces from Kelly Stone (Joe Piscopo). RTS discovers that all cures come from kitchen sink potions. Jeremey falls in love with this film and is now actively training in Karate. La-Mar takes his metal nunchucks and chucks everything! Collin will make sure that you “respect the wood.” When we break a bunch of bricks, we'll make sure they're on fire! Everyone seems cool with that.

It's a nerd! It's a plane! Nope - it's an actor. An actor who happens to have super powers. Or a superhero who happens to be an actor. Either way, it's Wonder Man, Marvel's latest streaming series. The Guys all recommend it, but be aware: this is not your typical superhero show. People with powers? check. Sidekicks with witty repartee? check. Dastardly villains? It kinda depends on how you look at it. But it also has celebrity cameos, family drama, and a genuine Knight Bachelor who steals the show. And it's easily binge-able so go binge it before you listen, because spoilers abound. Geeks of the Week get special recognition this week as one of The Guys is now an official Apple Developer (hint: it's not Jay.) Robbie throws a Hail Mary (but not under the bus), Art quotes one rogue director, and Jay takes over the obits department this week, honoring one of the most famous nerds in Holly-Nerd history. This episode is a true wonder.

Nathan and Ryan roundhouse-kick their way into Sidekicks (1992), the wish-fulfillment martial arts fantasy that turned every bullied kid's daydream into a movie. Starring Jonathan Brandis as a lonely teen whose imagination places him alongside the unbeatable Chuck Norris, the film blends coming-of-age drama with kid-friendly karate action. The hosts talk about the movie's earnest tone, early-'90s vibes, and how it plays like a feature-length version of childhood power fantasies—complete with mullets, bullies, and tournament glory. Is it cheesy? Absolutely. Is it also weirdly heartfelt? Also yes.
Download the Episode 3 workbook → https://bit.ly/p-finance-in-february-workbook This episode is part of our 4-part Finance February series and in episode #3 we stop looking at numbers … and start using them. You've got awareness (Episode 1). You've got rhythm (Episode 2). Now it's: what decisions are you making off the back of it? Because the goal isn't “be good at finance”… it's get paid properly and make calls like hiring/spending based on rules - not emotions. In this episode, you'll learn: 1) Owner pay vs profit (and why most owners stay broke). Owner pay = the salary you'd have to pay someone to replace you (fair market wage) Profit = what's left after the business runs properly (and then becomes dividends / drawings / extras) Most owners think they're profitable… because they're paying themselves $0 (that's not profit, that's unpaid wages) 2) The “Abducted You” test for owner salary. If you got abducted tomorrow … what would you list your job ad for? That's your “owner salary” number? 3) Decision rules for hiring (and the 40% labour trigger). Hiring isn't a feelings decision; it's a ratio decision. You get “permission to hire” when you're around the labour % you're targeting (the example used: ~40%) BUT only if you're hiring to grow revenue, not to “buy time” and watch Netflix. Labour % moves like stairs: hire → % goes up → revenue growth brings it back down → repeat 4) Stop spending based on vibes (use guardrails, not handcuffs) Forecasting + ratios are guardrails so you don't go broke. They're not handcuffs that stop you going big. You can break the rules - but only deliberately with a plan to bring ratios back 5) The true cost of a staff member (it's not the salary) A “$100k staff member” is not $100k. Add in things like:Super, Leave coverage, Workers comp, Payroll tax (if you're over threshold)…and you're closer to $130k+ in real cost. If you don't model this properly, you'll hire early and wonder where your profit went. 6) Smarter team design (local vs offshore + base + variable) Don't pay Aussie rates for tasks that don't require Aussie expertise Split roles: high-value work stays local, repeatable/admin gets systemised/offshored Base + variable pay models can reduce risk and align performance. Pick one of these and decide it using the numbers (not vibes): Set your owner salary (fair market wage) Separate owner pay vs profit Decide a dividend rule (how profit gets extracted) Create a hiring rule (based on ratios, not emotions) Create a spending rule (business case + cash impact) Redesign your workforce mix (what must be local vs can be offshored) Make one decision. Put it in writing. Put it in the calendar. Want the Sidekicks? (AI-powered assistants + offshore support) DM Doza on Instagram @hey.doza with the word: SIDEKICKS What's next? And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU. Enjoy Sidekicks! This episode is all about sidekicks; the characters who stand beside the hero, hold them together, and often save the day while someone else gets the credit. Jay and Shua explore where the idea of the sidekick came from, how it evolved through mythology, comics, TV, movies, and games, and why these characters resonate even more as audiences grow older. Who are secretly the real heroes? Who's clearly smarter than the lead? Who's just there to keep the main character from completely losing it. It's a celebration of backup characters who deserve top billing… or at least a bigger slice of the spotlight. What sidekicks do you think deserve more credit? Let us know!
