Growth doesn't happen because you “do more.”It happens because you stop, look back, and adjust with intention.Every year, we run a full Year-In-Review, long before January. We look at what worked, what didn't, and what absolutely needs to change. And the businesses that grow the fastest? They're doing the same thing. Here's what 2025 taught us:Wins:• The Expert Content Society became a true growth engine (275 members and growing), members are posting consistently, creating better content, and seeing real results.• Partnerships and affiliates drove major momentum.• LinkedIn trends were clear: short-form video, newsletters, and carousels remain top performers.• Clients scaled fast, some so much that they had to expand their teams.Challenges:• Funnels need clarity, not complexity.• Over-delivering features inside our community actually hurts engagement.• Operations need to be tightened to remove friction.Surprises:• Buyers expect personalization, clarity, and fast communication.• Trust is everything; testimonials, recommendations, and proof matter more than ever.• Power partnerships on LinkedIn are one of the biggest untapped opportunities. Our 2026 focus? One word: Optimization.Simpler systems. Cleaner messaging. Better processes. More execution. No unnecessary complexity. And now it's your turn. Before you plan 2026, ask these three questions:Red: What needs to stop?Yellow: What needs improvement?Green: What deserves more of your focus? What's your word for 2026?Don't forget to download our FREE LinkedIn Post Template Resource here: https://www.thetimetogrow.com/ecsposttemplates

Sarah Goodyear, Doug Gordon and Aaron Naparstek realized that no one was discussing the many cultural factors that have played a role in humanity's car dependency, or the negative impacts this reliance on motor vehicles has on human health and the planet. So they started their own show to do exactly that, The War on Cars. Gordon joins Mongabay's podcast to discuss just how human society got here — and how we might get ourselves out of it — which is also the subject of a new book he co-authored with Goodyear and Naparstek, Life After Cars: Freeing Ourselves from the Tyranny of the Automobile. "We felt that nobody was really covering the car as this overwhelming determinative force in the life of you as an individual, the life of society and nature, politics, culture, everything," he says. Take a minute to let us know what you think of our audio reporting, which you can do here. The Mongabay Newscast is available on major podcast platforms, including Apple and Spotify, and all previous episodes are accessible at our website's podcast page. There's something about this time of year, as the days shorten and the cold settles in, that makes me want to clear space. Not in a panic-clean-before-Christmas kind of way. More in a quiet, intentional sort of way. It's not about perfection or ticking every box on a checklist. It's about feeling like I can breathe again. As we shift into the darker half of the year, I feel a pull to pare back. To release what's not serving us. To let go so the season ahead feels more spacious and less suffocating. And yes, Christmas plays a part. The tinsel, the influx of stuff, the mental load of it all, it can build up fast. But for me, this isn't about creating some perfect minimalist home before December 1st. It's about getting clear on what I actually want this season to feel like. Because I don't want to spend December buried under clutter and chaos. I want to be present. I want to notice the good stuff. And that starts by letting go of the things, both physical and mental, that make it harder to do that. This Isn't About Minimalism — It's About SanityLet me be clear: I live in a 650 sq. ft. flat with two children, countless muddy boots, and a cat who acts like a third toddler. I'm not decluttering to achieve a pristine aesthetic. I'm decluttering because clutter, visual, physical, emotional, affects us. It wears us down. And heading into the busiest, most overstimulating season of the year? That clutter becomes the tipping point. So I don't wait until the new year to reset. I use autumn, this slow, introspective season, as a chance to gently release. To create room before everything starts coming in again. Because December is so much easier to hold when I've already made space for it.Start With What You Can SeeI usually begin with the physical stuff. Not because it's the most important, but because it's the most immediate. The visual clutter. The things we trip over. The stuff we shove into corners that silently drains us. I go one drawer at a time. One corner. One surface that's been collecting junk since the start of term. No pressure. Just asking: Do I really want to carry this into winter? Do I want to keep managing this? Cleaning it? Storing it? Thinking about it?For us, the high-traffic areas always come first; the kitchen, the hallway, the toy shelves. These are the spots where mess seems to breed overnight, and where the energy of our home feels the most “loud.” Clearing them brings an almost instant exhale. Not because the space looks perfect, but because it feels more peaceful.Teach Your Kids That Space Is ValuableWhen it comes to the kids, I don't force a clear-out. But I do invite them into the process. Not with sticker charts or bribes because that's not our vibe here, just honest conversation. “What toys do you still love playing with?” “Is this coat still comfy?” “Which books can we pass on to someone else?” We don't get it right every time. Sometimes they want to keep everything. But over time, they're learning that letting go isn't a loss, it's part of the cycle. Space isn't just empty. It's powerful.Declutter Your Mind, TooNow here's the part that most people skip: mental clutter. We clean the cupboards but keep the chaos in our heads. Especially in the lead up to Christmas, when pressure starts creeping in from all sides. The lists. The expectations. The comparison. The sense that we need to do more, buy more, be more. This time of year, I sit down and ask myself: What expectations am I still carrying that don't feel good anymore? What am I holding onto out of habit, guilt, or pressure? Sometimes it's traditions that no longer feel joyful. Sometimes it's a belief that I need to make everything magical for everyone. Sometimes it's just a nagging feeling that I'm not doing enough, even when I clearly am.Letting go of those stories is just as freeing as letting go of stuff. Maybe more so.Choose Space Over SpectacleOnce the clutter, both physical and mental, has started to ease, there's this beautiful opportunity to get intentional. Not just about what's going out, but what you're letting in. Because that's what decluttering really does, it reveals what matters. For me, what matters is a home that feels cosy, calm, and lived in. A December that doesn't feel like a sprint. Space to sit with my kids and read. Evenings where dinner doesn't feel like a battlefield. A season that isn't about performing some idealised version of Christmas, but about actually enjoying the parts that make sense for us.Do It Now, Not LaterSo many people wait until January to “start fresh.” But honestly? This time of year is the perfect time to clear space. Nature's already shedding. The energy is slowing down. Why not use that momentum and make a little room in your home, and your head, before December arrives with all its intensity? You don't need to gut your house. You don't need a skip on the driveway. You just need to notice where the tension lives and start loosening your grip.If this resonates with you, and I'm guessing it might, I want to gently invite you to join me for my seasonal workshop, which is designed exactly for this moment in the year. It's a cosy, no-pressure space to help you slow down, simplify, and create a Christmas season that actually feels good. Not performative. Not exhausting. Just grounded, intentional, and kind to your nervous system. We'll talk about simplifying traditions, making space in your home, and crafting a season rooted in connection rather than chaos. If you're craving that, it's there for you.Join the Slow & Simple Christmas WorkshopThe goal isn't to do it all. It's to do what matters, and to have enough room to enjoy it. David Waldman brings us a Throwback Tuesday KITM in which we explore the things that we did not throw back hard enough. There was a time when bigotry, dishonesty, inhumanity, and megalomaniacal cruelty had a craft to it. There was a sense of pride and effort in underhanded Machiavellian scheming that you just can't find anymore. We'll probably never see a Dick like Cheney again. Donald K. Trump destroys thousands of lives, the graft just rolls in, while he hardly lifts a finger. Trump wants to abolish the filibuster because he could then avoid the effort of circumventing it. Remember when David recommended filibuster reform? Back then we were all into affordable health care concerns, gun deaths and such. Simpler times. Turns out that all the lead poisoning didn't keep them from voting Trump in, let's hope the concussive blast waves help in the midterms. Let's revisit those years between Trump terms during which the SOB did not go to jail. If it was anybody else, he'd be there today. We are all left to scratch our heads, connecting the dots, following the money, wondering how it all went wrong.

Canada's tax problem isn't just slow phones at the CRA—it's a century of bolt-on rules that made filing confusing, subjective, and expensive to administer. A new review found CRA contact centres gave accurate answers only 17% of the time during the 2025 tax season window, echoing long-standing issues flagged by earlier audits (including millions of dropped and blocked calls). This complicated tax system creates unnecessary bureaucracy, wasted money, unpaid taxes, and a subjective audit process that means you can pay more (or less) taxes depending on how well your auditor slept the night before.Hiring more agents won't fix a tax law that's impossible to interpret. Simpler rules will. In this episode, I sketch a path to simpler, fairer, faster taxes. First, a quick history lesson on why we have income taxes, and how they became a Frankenstein's monster of laws that no one can understand. This will show us that the problem is getting worse, and will keep getting worse until we have a major system overhaul. Then I'll get into solutions.I explore proven options from abroad:Pre-populated / return-free filing (pioneered by Denmark; now used in most OECD countries) to slash time, phone calls, and errors—already being piloted in Quebec for simple returns. Flatter, broader bases with minimal carve-outs (think Estonia's ultra-simple system) and NZ's broad-base/low-rate GST—models that raise revenue with less friction. Withholding-as-final for straightforward T4 earners, so most people don't file at all unless their situation is complex—borrowing design cues from the Nordics. Look, nobody wants to talk about tax until they have to. But when they do - and they have to every year - they hate everything about our tax system. It creates unnecessary frustration and anger. Nobody wants to deal with the CRA, and nobody wants to work for the CRA either. Why would they? Many people who don't pay taxes do it out of frustration - they just give up. They're not evil; they're just overwhelmed. Tax filings have become a game.I'm not anti-tax; I'm anti-waste. My companies happily pay millions of dollars in corporate taxes annually. Its employees add another 1M in income taxes to our society, and you can add HST on top of all of it. What I want is less money burned collecting taxes and more money spent on services. If Canadians want better healthcare, safer streets, and a clearer deal with citizens, we should push for tax simplification, not just bigger call centres.Sources:CRA call centres: 17% accuracy (Feb–May 2025); prior audits on access/accuracy. Hello Friend! Welcome back to claiming simplicity. If you are new here, welcome! I so glad to have you here! I often hear moms complain about not spending enough time with their kids or missing kids' events because of work, but then don't do anything to change their situation. A good indication of what is important to you is what you spend money on. You might say Jesus and family first, but your checkbook might say otherwise. Another way to look at it is where are you spending your time. If you spent most evenings in the gym, I would say sports are important to you, or if you spend alot of time on your phone, it may look like social media is important to you. Sometimes the values don't truely line up, so I just want to give you a few tidbits to help you live out your values so when the guilt of not spending time with your kids, you know where you can start to change that. So grab a pen and paper and lets get to work. If you are driving, make sure to come back to this, because this can change the direction of your life as it did mine! First, you need to make a list of what are your true priorities because if you are saying this is important, but your pocketbook and time are not confirming that, there will be friction and you won't feel aligned and something will always feel off. Once you have your true priorities and most important values written down, now I want you to go to your calendar and bank account and see where exactly your time and money is going. This is so very important and very eye opening for many that I work with. For example, if you want a simpler life, but your calendar is always full, there will be friction and you may feel a little anxious, so the 3rd step is to figure out a way to get there. With this example, maybe it is less time shopping or this may even be spending all your time at sports events when you can say no to live simpler if this is a top priority. There are so many options, but in order to live this life of simplicity, you have to get good at saying no and making sure that you are saying yes to the right items that line up with your values. When your life is coming to an end, will you be proud and peaceful about how you lived it or will you be stressed and worn out until the end? I hope you will have peace living a simpler life that you are able to create. It is simple to do, but you do have to take the steps to get there. Blessings! “There are so many blessings in the in-between,” says Jessica Gill, chief content officer at To Be Magnetic and cohost of the Expanded podcast with Lacy Phillips. “You can manifest amazing mini manifestations or just kismet opportunities or these things that you wouldn't even believe would transpire in the midst of doing this work.” Today, Gill breaks down the deeply intuitive—and simple, but not easy—manifestation process that is the core of To Be Magnetic and the new book How to Manifest. This has changed the way I think about manifestation, the purpose of it, and the potential it has to help us outgrow old dynamics and evolve with new ones. Ever wonder why your legs suddenly feel like molten lava halfway through a long climb?
In This Episode Many bank leaders are currently grappling with the same paradox: despite having access to more data than ever, it's increasingly difficult to discern what truly matters. Budgets are tight, initiatives are piling up, and the market sends conflicting signals, all while the imperative to remain relevant to customers persists. Breaking Banks did a show on VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) three weeks ago (if you missed it, take a listen when you get a chance!). When there's VUCA, the natural inclination is to add more—more dashboards, more projects, more committees—yet this rarely leads to clarity. This episode of Breaking Banks features Catherine Lynch from Citizens Bank and Greg Palmer, host of sister podcast Finovate. They discuss the importance of human-centered innovation. Catherine Lynch leads digital experience and human-centered design at Citizens, a super-regional bank with approximately 1,000 branches primarily in the Northeast and $220 billion in assets. With over 20 years in banking and prior experience at Accenture and various tech startups, Catherine has dedicated her career to leveraging technology to solve customer problems. At Citizens, she focuses on digital channel strategy and experience design for a diverse customer base, including consumers, commercial clients, and wealth management customers. Catherine explains that all banking clients share three fundamental needs: seeing their money, moving their money, and protecting their money. However, these needs have evolved as people navigate cognitive overload, economic stress, and reduced community connections, leading to a demand for simpler and easier banking experiences. To meet these changing expectations, Citizens employs a human-centered design approach, placing customer needs at the core of their problem-solving process through empathy, collaboration, iteration, and testing. Their innovation lab, part of Green Pixel Studios, enables them to observe customer interactions and rapidly develop solutions for pain points. With its human centered focus and work building the right kind of innovative community, the future looks bright for Citizens Bank as it continues to deliver exceptional customer experiences and help customers navigate today's information overload. Blake Ruffino shares his thoughts on the LSU Offense and talks about the response that they may have coming out of the Bye week. Will LSU offensively be simpler in their rotation offensively. Blake asks LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly that exact question. With the LSU run game being what it is, is it time to find some things new to be able to move the football more consistently? Also, will we see LSU Freshman OL Carius Curne moved to guard and can he give them a spark that this team is desperately looking for? Lastly, what was seen from LSU Backup QB Michael Van Buren Jr. and if the offense continues to struggle, will Brian Kelly and company make a move to try to find a spark offensively? #lsu #lsutigers #lsufootball #lsusports #lsutigersfootball #foryou #fyp #foryoupage #ays #ayssports #southcarolina #southcarolinagamecocks #briankelly #blakeruffino #shanebeamer Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Here's the thing. We have had brilliant ideas in Web3 for years, along with better tooling and plenty of enthusiasm, yet adoption still feels slower than it should be. In my conversation with Maciej Baj, founder of t3rn, we got under the skin of why that is and what it might take to change the pace. His starting point is simple to state and hard to deliver at scale: make cross-chain interactions feel seamless for users and predictable for developers. If you can do that, the door opens to practical products rather than experiments that only the bravest try. Maciej describes t3rn as a universal execution layer for cross-chain smart contracts, and the phrase matters because it changes how we think about interoperability. Instead of stitching together a mess of bridges and oracles, t3rn lets a contract access state and data across multiple chains from one place. Today it is mapped to the EVM for broad compatibility, but the design is chain agnostic by intent. That choice is less about tribal loyalties and more about meeting developers where they already build while keeping the door open to other ecosystems as the market evolves. Trust shows up in the details, and atomic execution is one of those details that changes behavior. If a multi-chain transaction cannot complete in full, it reverts. No half-finished transfers. No manual recovery adventures. This mirrors what smart contracts already offer on a single chain, which means developers can reason about outcomes without inventing fresh playbooks for every hop. It also reassures users, who care less about the plumbing and more about knowing that funds either arrive or return. Cost matters too. t3rn has been engineered for cost-efficient token movement across chains, which sounds mundane until you price a complex strategy that touches multiple venues. Lower friction makes new use cases economical. Maciej outlined a few that caught my eye. Trading algorithms that read and act on signals from multiple chains without duct tape. Simpler asset movement across ecosystems that do not share a wallet culture or UX conventions. Agent-driven executors that can watch for arbitrage or rebalance a portfolio without constant human oversight. The theme is the same throughout. Reduce the number of hoops and you increase the number of people willing to try something new. We also looked ahead. t3rn is preparing an integration with hyperliquid and rolling out a builder program to widen the ecosystem on top of its execution layer. An SDK is on the way so the community can help bring in new chains faster, rather than waiting for a core team to do all the heavy lifting. There is a governance track forming as well, aimed at giving the community more say in integrations and priorities. None of this guarantees success, but it signals a path from protocol to platform. I left the conversation with a clearer view of why interoperability still matters in 2025. The multi-chain world is not going away. Users move between ecosystems. Developers deploy to several environments at once. Liquidity, identity, and logic already live in many places. A universal execution layer that is reliable, cost aware, and easy to build on is the kind of boring-sounding foundation that ends up changing behavior. ********* Visit the Sponsor of Tech Talks Network: Land your first job in tech in 6 months as a Software QA Engineering Bootcamp with Careerist https://crst.co/OGCLA
In this episode of Maximize Your Hunt, host Jon Teater (Whitetail Landscapes) discusses strategies for maximizing hunting success through effective land management and habitat improvement. He shares insights on deer behavior, the importance of soil and water management, and the need for biodiversity in ecosystems. The conversation emphasizes the significance of understanding the dynamics of the landscape and creating productive environments for wildlife. takeaways Deer behavior is influenced by environmental conditions and hunting culture. Understanding the pecking order among deer can aid in hunting strategies. Quality management of deer populations involves monitoring age classes and ratios. Designing landscapes for hunting requires a holistic approach to ecology. Soil health and water management are critical for productive habitats. Biodiversity enhances ecosystem resilience and supports wildlife. Natural methods of land management can yield better results than chemical interventions. Creating organized chaos in landscapes can benefit wildlife habitats. Simpler management systems can be more effective than complex monocultures. Engaging with the community and sharing knowledge can enhance hunting success.
