Augusta Distillery (Augusta, KY) WF0059 The month-long celebration of the release of Whiskey Lore's Travel Guide to Experiencing Kentucky Bourbon: Second Edition continues with a journey to the Northern Kentucky region that is home to New Riff, Neeley Family, Boone County and others. But did you know, along the Ohio River, below Cincinnati and northwest of Lexington there are three distilleries just waiting to be explored? Today, we're going to visit with Ryan Edwards, co-founder of Augusta Distillery, a facility I've had the privilege of seeing evolve from the bones of an old manufacturing building into an experiential distillery that blends town charm, the building that employed so many, and a modern distillery that stretches the concept of what you can do in a distillery. It's also the home of a distiller you should know - Alex Castle. Join me as we go through the evolution of the distillery and find out what things you can do here that you've likely never done at any other distillery. We'll make you put Northeast Kentucky into your travel plans. And for Patreon.com/whiskeylore members, get an extra ten minutes to this episode with some insider information on some of the features of this distillery. Cheers and slainte mhath, Drew

Ryan Edwards is an acclaimed cryptozoologist and author that was born and raised in San Antonio Texas. As a child he was a fan of the natural world, paleontology and mysteries. These lead him straight into the arms of cryptozoology. At a young age Ryan Edwards fell in love with cryptozoology because it demonstrates that there are still mysteries out there in our natural world. He has spent over ten years researching the menagerie of unrecognized species seen across the world. At the young age of 20 Ryan Edwards was able to get his first book Cryptids of The World published. Now Ryan Edwards spends his time traveling around Texas and the American south lecturing and educating others about this science. Ryan Edwards' goal isn't to force others to believe in these creatures but to educate them and for them to come to their own conclusions. In the world of cryptozoology there has to be a marriage of both science and superstition, a mix of the logical and the illogical.Symposium of the Strangehttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61559589354472Beyond Bigfoot- Unrecognized primates of Americahttps://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Bigfoot-Unrecognized-Primates-America/dp/1945950501/ref=pd_ybh_a_d_sccl_1/134-3320460-5380802?pd_rd_w=T1uBK&content-id=amzn1.sym.67f8cf21-ade4-4299-b433-69e404eeecf1&pf_rd_p=67f8cf21-ade4-4299-b433-69e404eeecf1&pf_rd_r=J2EJYNZ53M5RG7NW9NBK&pd_rd_wg=HC6GA&pd_rd_r=de97d01d-e855-4d51-b748-92d9512902dc&pd_rd_i=1945950501&psc=1Click that play button, and let's unravel the mysteries of the UNTOLD! Alfred Williams, affectionately known as Big Al, comes from modest beginnings. Growing up in Texas, Big Al loved playing music and even joined the marching band. However, after a bet with a lifelong friend, he tried out for the football team. After a few setbacks, the rest is history. Big Al left Texas to play college football at the University of Colorado. He had unmatched success on the field winning numerous awards such as the Butkus award and a national championship, but it is the life lessons he learned in Boulder that have stuck with him most. After his college days, Big Al was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals, then left to play for the 49ers, and ultimately ended up back in Colorado, playing for the Broncos. He once again reached the pinnacle of his profession, winning two Super Bowls. After his playing days, Big Al ventured into the tech world, his true passion from an early age.You can now hear Big Al on KOA Sports weekdays from 3-6 pm MT with Dave Logan and Ryan Edwards.
