HSAY 004 - Patty Domintuez - Boss Free Baller | Marketing Guru | Entrepreneur - Patty talks about her 4.5 year ride on "the greatest roller coaster ever which is entrepreneurship",  going with the flow and understanding the power of technology and Social Media.    Collaborated with a "lone wolf" consultant friend on CREATEbuzz where they help small businesses. the SMB market, get and keep customers. They have discovered that technology in general is super overwhelming for the small business owner. That's the perspective she brings from assisting her small business clients. One of the great quotes from one of her clients "I'd rather do my taxes than try to start to understand Social Media".     Helping Small Businesses understand the monetization potential and how to create scale. How to understand technology and let go of the "overwhelm". One of the the overwhelming components is Social Media. They work with Small Businesses at the strategic level helping them understand where they want to go and to formulate a blueprint and identity, how you're different, your unique selling proposition.   Being congruent. How you show up, on-line or off-line, is all in alignment. Congruency applies whether you're a solopreneur, network marketing, Small Business or big brand. You have to show up, who you are, what you say you do and what you do are all congruent. Identifying the perfect customer has everything to do with where you should be on Social Media.    Patty consults to Fortune 100 companies and she is emphatic that Social Media is The Great Equalizer. No matter your size you can dominate your niche or "get rich in your niche" she calls it. Patty told the story about an associate who decided to test the concept building an audience in a niche with OctoNation on Instagram and now has over 32K Octopus loving followers! He started to provide a platform for these artists. He was consistent and patient. There is no shortcut. Patty event referenced Dawn Bartolini's story from HSAY 002 and her commitment, consistency and patience in building her network marketing business on Facebook. It's not glamorous, its just work.    Patty found her footing on Social Media back in 2006 on LinkedIn and Twitter and was following some of the early thought leaders in Social Media like Chris Brogan and Seth Godin and their ability to be consistent and dominate. She really didn't understand what it was about. Then she got into Facebook and calls it the greatest cocktail party ever!    Patty discussed the power of video om Social Media with Facebook Live and Snapchat and your ability to hack the algorithm with video on the various platforms.    Patty talks about family life with her sons and Social Media and how she gets their attention she sends them a private Snapchat. She sees them playing with different new apps. They'll check something out, make a decision and drop it or keep it and share it with their friends. She's aware that Snapchat is the main platform but she does caution them to be careful. Just educate them to make good decisions.    Patty also encouraged us to build and gain trust by engaging, delivering value and humanizing the interaction as much as possible. creating a relationship. Making people feel like they matter. What are you doing on Social Media to help people feel like they matter.      As far as productivity tools Patty also talked about SocialBro from Audiense.com that tracks hashtags and tweets and helps automate some processes for her. She cautioned to be careful of too much automation, people's BS meter is very accurate.    As far as the future of Social Media she said that Internet Marketers are the ones to watch as they are always 12-18 months out in front of everyone else. She says that video is the sustainable play, more content, more platforms, engagement and virality. Ray Higdon  as an example dominates with any key word that you can search relative to entrepreneurship or network marketing. He has been blogging every single day for over three years. He posts videos at least five days a week. The definition of consistency.      You can find Patty Dominguez and and company at CreateBuzz as well as on The Morning Would Show on Vimeo where she and her partner impart exceptional business marketing wisdom. What should you do with tablet traffic viewing your video ads? Should you target YouTube categories or specific videos with your advertising? How do you differentiate your desktop and tablet traffic? How can you take advantage of tags on other people's videos? What software do you use to manage your YouTube advertising campaigns? [Tweet ""I hate websites - they suck and they can die!" @australiawow"] Software I couldn't live without What software do you currently use in your business that if someone took away from you, it would significantly impact your marketing success? Facebook Target Grow [Targeted Twitter followers] The Green Button [LinkedIn] Twubs.com [Find Twitter chats] SocialBro.com [Twitter marketing] What software don't you use, but you've heard good things about, and you've intended to try at some point in the near future? KissMetrics [Analytics software] Hootsuite [Twitter management] Xero [Accounting software] My number 1 takeaway What's the single most important step from our discussion that our listeners need to take away and implement in their businesses? Take a step back and survey all that is marketing, take stock what it working and have a look at what is really working for you according to your analytics and make some business decisions for your future based on that, and not on what you think you should be doing.

Paid tools are great… but “what if I’m just starting out and I don’t have the money to invest into all those fancy tools”? This is the “BUT” – question I received from one of our amazing readers after publishing the last blog post. It’s true, at least two of the Twitter tools I mentioned in my recent article are paid tools. Obviously, SocialBro and Sprout Social are both awesome resources to use if you’re not exactly on a restricted budget. Please pick up a copy of my book, New Business Networking: How to Effectively Grow Your Business Network Using Online and Offline Methods. Ian and I begin by talking about Irish people, naturally (I lived in Ireland for a few years). After 18 months of launching, RazorSocial.com was receiving over 100,000 unique visits per month. Pick your blog niche that you have a strong interest and knowledge in, and one that isn't really occupied by anyone else. Ian created a list of 100 people he wanted to be friends with. He left to the States every month to attend conferences and network to promote his blog. The relationships with the right people were more important than the writing. Without the relationships nothing would have happened. Ian's focus is always to determine how he can help someone. The more you help people, the more people want to help you. Mike Stelzner let Ian provide guest blog posts on Social Media Examiner, which led people to his site. Ian wrote guest posts on as many influential blogs as possible (close to 100). My free blogging tutorial. It takes 10 minutes and is easier than you think. Check it out. How content marketing applies to real estate agents. Which social network would Ian focus on most? You always want to get people back to your website. As a small business you don't have time to be everywhere. Get one channel working for you first. SocialBro - provides really good filters to find people on Twitter. Ian wrote a blog post on a topic and used SocialBro to search bios for influential people who would be interested in his blog topic. He then reached out to the top ten most influential people to share his blog post via scheduled tweets. Most of the content Ian shares is other people's content first. Ian uses Hootsuite and Bulk Buffer with Buffer to schedule tweets. Ian managed different software, customer support and development teams. He has always been good at managing different teams of people and building relationships with each person. Fun Fact: He sold property in Bulgaria. When you reach out to an influencer and ask for something, you're the same as 99 out of 100 people. If you really focus on how you can help them with your first interaction they will remember you. Larry Benet was speaking at Social Media World. Ian shares how he was able to connect with him. Larry interviewed me at NMX, you can watch it here. How can you stand out as an individual, and how you can you really help that other person - that makes a difference. Ian shares how he balances his time. Entrepreneurs need to be more productive and not think they must work longer hours. If you set your deadlines and be ruthless with them, you will get the work done. Erik Fisher submitted a question “What's a good balance between finding new tools and leaning new tools?” (My interview with Erik here) When you become known in a certain area, the information finds it's way to you. Ian uses Nimble to track the interactions he has with people. It keeps track of his social media interactions. Check out Ian's latest Google Analytics training course.
