Hour 4: Are the Yankees avoiding playing Stanton and Dominguez in the outfield on the same night?

Last week, Matt Dominguez posted his unpopular opinion that if you have cheered for a sports team for 25 years and that team hasn't won a championship or improved, that you should be able to hit the FAN TRANSFER PORTAL and choose a new favourite team. Do you agree with Matt's opinion or are you rider or die with your favourite team? The Green Zone
Sal took aim at Jasson Dominguez's defensive gaffe in left field, arguing that while it might have been a tough play, it's one a major league left fielder on a contending team needs to make. He pointed out that manager Aaron Boone's admission that Dominguez is "still feeling his way and kind of learning on the go" is a perfect example of the Yankees' larger issues. In Sal's fiery take, a team with World Series aspirations cannot afford to use games to develop players at the expense of winning, especially when the margin for error is so slim due to their other inconsistencies.

In this lively discussion, BT and Sal delve into the hypothetical trade of Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez for Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan. Sal advocates for acquiring Kwan, emphasizing his proven Gold Glove defense and high-contact bat as a perfect fit for the Yankees' current needs. BT, however, shows more patience with Dominguez's potential, highlighting his youth and the inherent difficulty in evaluating prospects, and questioning the perceived "failure" of young Yankees while acknowledging Alvarez's struggles. The debate encapsulates the classic baseball dilemma: banking on future potential versus acquiring immediate, known production.
Jasson Dominguez, once heralded as "The Martian" with sky-high expectations, has seen his trajectory plummet, leaving many to question if the hype was truly warranted. What was once seen as a future cornerstone for the Yankees has, by all accounts from BT and Sal, failed to materialize into the transcendent, switch-hitting star everyone envisioned, sparking concerns about his diminished trade value and long-term potential.
The trade deadline has passed and the Blue Jays made a deal right up against the clock, picking up big-armed back-end reliever Louis Varland from the Minnesota Twins to help bolster their bullpen, at the cost of prospect pitcher Kendry Morales and young, promising outfielder Alan Roden. They also got Ty France in that trade, for some reason. I'm joined by my Toronto Star colleague Gregor Chisholm to go over the Jays' moves at the deadline, including the surprise acquisition of two-time all-star and perennial (when healthy) Cy Young candidate Shane Bieber as well as reliever Seranthony Dominguez and the trade of Will Wagner to San Diego for minor-league catching depth. As well, we'll go over all the moves made by the Jays' rivals and see how they stack up as August begins with Toronto in first place overall in the American League and holding a 3 ½ game lead over the New York Yankees in the AL East. All that, plus your comments and questions as well!
The Orioles had to face Seranthony Dominguez immediately after trading him earlier this week. Now they will likely encounter Andrew Kittredge with the Cubs this weekend. Will he turn in a clean line just like Dominguez?
Boomer and Gio discuss the Giants' optimistic camp, believing they have the talent to succeed despite a tough NFC East. Free agent Jevon Holland joins, revealing Boomer's first thought about him is his Canadian heritage, while Gio recalls Holland's 100-yard "Fail Mary" return. Holland feels the Giants' defense has strong potential. Jerry gives an update, mentioning his first TV play-by-play with analyst Shaun O'Hara. Yankees won with Volpe's HR and Dominguez's catch. Mets were swept after two big trades; Lindor is struggling. Ohtani left his start with cramps. Jerry recaps trades. The Hall of Fame game is tonight. Arenas was arrested. Mad Dog sided with Boomer on Luka. Stu Feiner and Frank the Tank appeared during Boomer's Luka rant. Shannon Sharpe was fired from ESPN, and Chad Ochocinco wants the job.
Guest: Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt They added to their bullpen Tuesday by acquiring Seranthony Dominguez from Baltimore, but a dozen more trades were made across the majors on Wednesday and the Jays weren't involved. Big Toronto targets Jhoan Duran and Ryan Helsley, a couple of huge relief arms, and slugging third baseman Eugenio Suarez all came off the board, going to Philadelphia, the New York Mets and Seattle, respectively. Who's left for the Jays to pick up on the last day? We go over that list for you, as well as examine the trades that were made to see if the Jays could have made more compelling offers. Also, Jays' starter Chris Bassitt joins us to talk about the keys to the team's success so far this season and his influence on how the players are handled.

Blake Murphy and Julia Kreuz recap a wild Tuesday including two losses, Chad Green getting DFA'd, Seranthony Dominguez's crazy day and what he adds to the Blue Jays. MLB InsiderJim Bowden (30:05) discusses the addition of Dominguez, the starter and reliever pitching market and how active he's expecting the deadline to be. Craig Goldstein (50:00) of Baseball Prospectus gives his thought on Dominguez's playoff track record and what moves the Los Angeles Dodgers might make. Lastly, Blake and Julia take your texts (1:19:30) on players who could become Blue Jays before 6pm on Thursday and how concerning the 4-game losing streak is.The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliate.
Rob and Jeremy took some time from Wednesday's BBMS to recap the trade that sent Seranthony Dominguez to Toronto and then debate what's next for the Birds. With a little over 24 hours until the deadline, what's next for the O's?
Rob and Jeremy took some time from the opening hour of Wednesday's BBMS to discuss the O's decision to send Seranthony Dominguez to the Jays in exchange for a prospect. Looking at it now, was it a move the O's had to make?

Avination, welcome back to Episode 335 of the Pilot to Pilot podcast! Host Justin Siems sits down with aviation expert Jim Higgins, a former airline pilot and University of North Dakota professor, and Elise Dominguez, a Certified Financial Planner at Allworth Airline Advisors, for a deep dive into the airline industry and pilot financial planning. They unpack the cyclical nature of pilot hiring—citing 12,000–13,000 pilots hired in 2023–2024, now leveling to a still-strong 4,000–4,500 annually, per FAPA data. Justin shares his journey from a fractional company to a major airline, facing a $120,000 pay cut, while Jim reflects on his wife's choice to stay a senior FO for schedule flexibility. Elise offers actionable advice for pilots at every stage: new hires like a 24-year-old check airman should start saving early to leverage time, mid-career pilots should max out 401(k) contributions (increasing by 1% yearly) and diversify with Roth IRAs or taxable accounts, and those nearing 65 should explore catch-up contributions ($7,500 at 50, $11,250 super catch-up at 60–63). They also tackle the pilot retirement age debate—will it hit 67?—and how it impacts young pilots' seniority or senior pilots' earnings. From avoiding lifestyle creep to planning for “what if” scenarios like furloughs or early retirement, this episode is packed with insights to keep your aviation career soaring. Visit Allworth Airline Advisors for a free consultation to build your personalized financial plan!I hope you enjoy this podcast and if you're interested in reaching out for more financial information make sure you check out Allworth Airline Advisors!Hope to see you all at EAA Ariventure!JustinTakeaways: The state of the airline industry is currently experiencing a hiring slowdown compared to the record-high years of 2023 and 2024, but opportunities still exist. Elise emphasizes the importance of starting financial planning early in a pilot's career to build a solid foundation for retirement and future investments. It's crucial for pilots to diversify their investments outside of 401(k)s to avoid over-relying on employer-sponsored plans for retirement income. Discussing the emotional aspects of financial decisions is important, as pilots often need guidance to navigate the ups and downs of their careers and personal finance. Investing in a health savings account can provide significant tax advantages, especially for pilots with high deductible plans, making it a smart move for long-term financial health. Addressing the potential changes in the retirement age from 65 to 67, it's essential for pilots to consider the impact on their career plans and future earnings potential.

BT and Sal are fired up discussing the Yankees' biggest win of the season, a thrilling comeback where they overcame being no-hit for seven innings. BT emphasizes the "quality of at-bats and the grinding" that led to the victory, suggesting it could signal a crucial "personality change" for the team, especially with potential moves on the horizon. Sal highlights the "vintage Yankees at home" feel of the win, attributing the improved play to recent lineup adjustments that have brought better versatility and fit to the roster, including the emergence of Dominguez as a leadoff hitter and the strategic use of players like Bellinger. Both agree this win, far exceeding others, shows the Yankees are finally coming alive and potentially becoming the "gauntlet" lineup they're meant to be, though they acknowledge that further trade acquisitions and bullpen improvements are still needed for a championship run.

BT and Sal dive headfirst into the New York Yankees' recent struggles, debating whether their current slump is a temporary blip in the new, unpredictable MLB landscape, or a symptom of deeper, long-standing organizational issues. While Sal advocates for the Yankees to "sell" off some dead weight and proactively address roster deficiencies by inserting younger talent like Dominguez and Rice, BT counters that overreacting to a few bad weeks in a volatile season is premature, especially given the Yankees' historical ability to bounce back and make deep playoff runs. They discuss the recent decision to move Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base as a long-overdue sign of progress, yet question the Yankees' overall philosophy of player acquisition and development, highlighting the ongoing frustrations of fans watching the same fundamental flaws persist year after year.
The boys talk about Anthony Volpe's Dad screaming at Mets fans over the weekend and Jasson Dominguez's future.
BT is absolutely fuming over the New York Yankees' abysmal season, highlighting their poor roster construction, defensive liabilities, and a pitching staff in shambles, especially with the devastating news of Clark Schmidt's long-term injury. He's ready to blow up the team and calls for accountability from management. However, Sal maintains a surprising optimism, believing that despite their rough patch and exposed flaws, the Yankees still possess enough talent and potential, particularly with recent offensive surges from young players like Dominguez, to salvage their season and contend for a playoff spot, even suggesting they can win their division.
BT is are fired up discussing the alarming trend of opposing teams intentionally walking Aaron Judge, signaling a critical lack of protection in the Yankees' lineup. With Judge being walked 20 times already this season – matching his total from all of last year – the guys debate whether the Yankees can truly contend for a championship if they can't force opponents to pitch to their best player. They dissect potential solutions, from shifting Judge in the order to trusting young bats like Dominguez or relying on Bellinger, emphasizing that if the Yankees don't make teams "pay with blood" for walking Judge, their World Series hopes are in serious jeopardy.
BT opens the show with a fiery take on the Yankees' glaring failure to protect Aaron Judge, who has already been intentionally walked 20 times this season—matching his total for all of last year. He argues that until the Yankees provide Judge with legitimate offensive support behind him, any other moves they make are meaningless. BT passionately debates lineup solutions, including batting Dominguez leadoff and Bellinger third, asserting that the team simply isn't good enough to let opposing managers avoid pitching to their best player, and it's time for a drastic change to prevent this "epidemic" from diminishing the team's chances.

The Yankees make a massive lineup change.
Both the Mets and Yankees were swept this weekend, with the Mets now heading to Atlanta and a caller demanding Aaron Boone's firing due to the Yankees' fundamental errors, including baserunning mistakes by Dominguez and Rice. This came after Rafael Devers, who homered in his final game for Boston, was traded from the Red Sox to San Francisco. Meanwhile, Mike Francesa's prediction of a Mets losing streak came true, and despite Pete Alonso's strong offense, his throwing issues to first base persist. In golf, JJ Spaun won the US Open on Father's Day, and on the Knicks front, they are interviewing Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins for the head coach position, while Dan Plesac of MLB Network was reportedly scammed by an "unpaid tolls" text message.
Hour 1 This weekend, both the Mets and Yankees were swept, while the Phillies extended their winning streak, and in a significant move, the Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to San Francisco after he homered in his final game with Boston; Aaron Judge notably struggled, going 1-for-12 with 9 strikeouts. In golf, JJ Spaun won the US Open, while Gio noted that something seems to be amiss with Rory, which warrants monitoring as he heads to Bethpage Black; meanwhile, the Knicks are still seeking a head coach, and Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat stated he doesn't believe anything in history prior to 1950. Hour 2 Both the Mets and Yankees were swept this weekend, with the Mets now heading to Atlanta and a caller demanding Aaron Boone's firing due to the Yankees' fundamental errors, including baserunning mistakes by Dominguez and Rice. Hour 3 The Knicks are interviewing Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins for their head coaching vacancy, with one caller criticizing Leon Rose for the team's current state and another suggesting Jay Wright, though he's not a candidate. Meanwhile, the Yankees were swept in Boston, a series that saw Rafael Devers traded to the Giants after homering. The Mets also suffered a three-game losing streak, fulfilling Mike Francesa's prediction to Frank The Tank, and now head to Atlanta. In other sports news, JJ Spaun won the US Open, and Fanatics selected 50 regular people to compete against professional athletes. A caller also proposed Allan Houston or John Starks as potential Knicks coaches. Hour 4 Boomer reacted to the Chris Kreider trade, calling him one of the Rangers' all-time greats while acknowledging his frustrating moments, which led to a comparison of long-tenured New York athletes like the Mets' David Wright and Giants' Tiki Barber, with Gio expressing surprise at the Mets retiring Wright's #5 jersey so soon. In other sports news, Rafael Devers homered to beat the Yankees before being traded, the Mets were swept at home by the Rays, and JJ Spaun won the US Open. The show also featured a "Moment of the Day" with a caller's heartfelt story to a distracted Joe Benigno, and a reminder that the show would be off the following day for a round of golf at Bethpage Black, the future site of the Ryder Cup. And what's going on with Rory?
