Memorial Day weekend is here which means that summer is right around the corner and everyone is ready for a good old fashioned cookout. On today's episode, we aren't talking bbq....we're talking classic hamburgers and hot dogs and the wines that pair perfectly with them. Listen now for all of the details and be sure to subscribe to my show so you never miss an episode! Also head over to thewineceo.com to sign up for my monthly newsletter and get a free guide to pairing food and wine!  ---------------------- Episode 25 Show Notes: My top pick for a classic cheeseburger pairing is a Spanish Tempranillo.  Awesome regions in Spain for Tempranillo include: Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Toro Tempranillo is given the following classifications based upon age: 2 Years: Crianza 3 Years: Riserva 5 Years: Gran Riserva *Some awesome Tempranillo to try include: Marques des Caceres Marques de Murrieta La Crimus (Less than $10 at Trader Joe's) Montecillo My perfect pairing for a classic hot dog is Gewüztraminer! This wine is extremely aromatic and can compete with strong flavors like mustard, sauerkraut, pickles, and relish.  Some of the best regions for Gewüztraminer are Alsace (France), Tentino Alto Adige (Italy), and The United States (California, Washington, and New York).  Some delicious Gewüztraminer to try include: Chateau St. Michelle (Washington State) Trimbach (Alsace) Albrecht (Alsace) Armani (Trentino) Don't forget to tag me on social media this summer if you try one of these wines with your cookout! @thewineceo

(Taped before the Covid19 virus hit the U.S.) Join Kirsten as she launches a new business. She doesn't see the volume of orders that she projected, even after being written up in Forbes magazine. When asked about how the new project is going, her story is the truth, but is heavy.  Once she realizes that she is personally affecting how the company is perceived by way of her words, she changes how she speaks to people about it, moving into a more uplifting interpretation. Things start changing for the better. She then pairs the change to a Spanish Tempranillo. Tempranillo is a grape that can thrive in hot regions, and all of the world's vineyards are facing climate change. Discover how smart wineries are adapting and learn more about a grape we'll be seeing more often. https://www.forbes.com/sites/devinthorpe/2016/10/05/cancer-survivor-sommelier-infuses-new-venture-with-purpose/#286608a1441b https://www.oliverstaranga.com/ https://www.aalto.es/en/the-winery/

Hey everyone, Welcome to episode 93! Sangria is a delicious, fruity, and refreshing beverage.  Nice and easy to make yourself or buy as a pre made mixture from your favourite bottle shop.   The Recipes for the two Sangria's we made are here.  Both recipes were taken from The Spruce Eats website then adjusted a little for my personal preference. See the link below for the $100 gift card to sign up and shop Shortly after the fires in northern California during the harvest of 2017, Naked Wines put together one of the coolest fire recovery fundraisers that I came across.  They have raised $832K as of January, 2018, and drawn support from their members worldwide.  That was the final impetus I needed to contact Naked and ask for an interview.  This episode features Alex Farber, who is a Wine Production Manager and also has her own wines brand within Naked, and Cari Roberts, who is Head of Acquisition and the woman I ran into at a hamburger stand before a tractor parade and convinced to green-light this podcast.  Alex's black lab, Maui, who is being raised to be a service dog for children with Type I diabetes, was also part of our podcast team.   Alex, Cari, and I spend this entire episode discussing the questions I had about Naked Wines, both as a winemaker, and as a member "Angel."  It's my hope that someone listening to this podcast will then go on to pitch a winemaking project and become a winemaker within Naked.  Lastly, Cari hooked me up with a special URL so listeners of this podcast can get $100 to sign up and shop on the Naked Wines site.  I used this deal to get a case of mixed reds for $69 and then added a few bottles to get the tab up to $100 to qualify for shipping to be included (wineries can't legally use the words "free" and "shipping" for some odd reason).  I've already gone back to order more of a Spanish Tempranillo from Jorge Caus Pertegaz at $10.     LINKS AND RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE Naked Wines $100 Gift Card to sign up and shop with Naked Wines How to become a winemaker with Naked Wines Naked's Fire Recovery Fund Pine Ridge Vineyards Diam Corks TCA-free corks Questions?  Comments?  Let me know what you think: jim@insidewinemaking.com   The Inside Winemaking Podcast on iTunes And Stitcher Radio Too
