I always like to talk about wine, it is the whole premise of the show, but this show is called Mo Wine, wine mishaps and more, and tonight we're going to be talking about a mishap. I love all things Italian I love Italy with all my heart and soul. But this 2020 this Colle Ticchio Cesanese was the first Italian line that hated. There, I said it for everyone to hear it. I cannot stand this wine. The origins of the grape dates back to the 1700s and it has a really robust history in Lazio but ,they don't even grow it that much. It's indigenous to the area of Lazio and not really well known outside of that, that area of Italy. I know that it was a great value wine, and I'm so happy it wasn't one of the higher price point wines that I have to share with you guys for the podcast. So I'm grateful for that. If you found value in this this episode, please jump over to Buy me a glass of wine and show some love and your support for this fine programming that I'm bringing to you.
Happy Holidays Everyone! You can support this podcast at Buy me a glass of wine. Your support helps with the production of the show the value we add to our listeners. You can also purchase my Top Tips To Level Up Your Wine Life. This is the last episode of 2021 and I am so excited to share the 2018 La Cattura, an organic, dry, red wine with you this evening. This wine is made primarily from Teroldego at 90% but, it does have 10% Syrah in it as well. Teroldego has been planted in Trentino since the 25th Century. Teroldego is an indigenous grape from the Trentino-Alto-Aldige region of Italy, which is the most northern region of Italy. However, La Caturra is from the Tuscan region of Italy. This is the first red wine where I have picked up citrus notes and flavors and it has me a little perplexed. I am not scratching my head too much with this beautiful value beauty with its $12.99 price point.
Hello and welcome to Mo Wine - wine, mishaps, and more. I am your host Chandra Savage. This week we have a sweet treat. We are going to be tasting Carroll's Mead from Brotherhood Winery. The Brotherhood winery was established in 1839 it is America's oldest winery on record. And what I love about the Brotherhood Winery, if you ever get a chance to visit, is so rustic, full of old-world charm, and it's one of my favorite places to visit and they have the best hot wings in life period but, I'm not here to talk about the that. I'm here to talk about Mead. The history of Mead is very interesting. The monks used to use we make Mead just to have some income coming in. They used to make the sacramental wines and they used to make Mead as well. So Meed is a honey wine made from grape juice and honey. It is fermented to make this delicious, sweet decadence, like dessert-style wine. This is not a wine that you put in a full wine glass. You should have a small sip. Maybe put it in a little teeny tiny cup and have it with dessert. So the color is gorgeous is like a straw, golden color. And it's a thicker style white wine. So we don't need to like swirl it and aerate it. You know, it it is, is not one of those wines that different aromas are gonna pop out if you keep swirling it. So we don't need to do that. But the color is just so super gorgeous. Let's get into the nose because the nose always knows. When I tell you that this literally smells like grape juice in the honey. There's nothing else to it. It's so super simple, simple, beautiful wine. . Oh, it's so sweet. You know, I like my dry reds. But this is a sweet white wine. It's full-bodied. There's no acidity to this. A lot of people use ice wines which is even sweeter than Mead. And they use as a dessert wine to pair with Foie Gras because of the acidity and the fatness. so they have a little bit of Mead or Ice Wine with a very long finish. You're not going to get tipsy on this wine because it has 8% Alcohol. this is nice. This is more wine on me. All my sweet wine lovers are going to love this. But like I said, Please for the love of God. Don't pull a full grant don't pour a full glass of this wine. It's this meant to be sipped. In the past, it was a wine served at weddings, and it was served as like a sweetener, a welcome home from battle for Knights. And it's no fabled to it that they would serve this tonight to take down the bitter taste of battle. I love a good story in the back of the wine in to learn more about wines. There are also meaderies there are many many meaderies all around the world and in Germany. Tips I want to leave you with. Mead is made from honey and fermented grape juice and in France they call me Hydrogel, which I thought was really really interesting. It has a very, very low alcohol content. This is not a high cost wise probably like around $10 $12 is not going to break the bank. gonna elevate your wine education. So I encourage you to go out try it. I will be back the week after next with another fabulous wine to educate you on please head over to https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mowineforu if you want to show some love to Mo Wine. If you find this Mead and taste it. Please reach out to me on social media. I'm on Instagram @mowineforu for you Facebook at @mowineforu, Twitter @mowineforu, and all the interwebs. I would love to hear from you. If you're listening to this episode, take a screenshot to send it to me. I want to see the people I want to get all of the goods you are getting from me. Until next time, Ciao a tutti!
I was reflecting back on the beginning of my wine journey and in 2011 I wrote my first blog post about pursuing membership with the Wine Century Club. The Wine Century Club is a group of wine aficionados who are interested in spreading knowledge and you know, interest in wine like uncommon, uncommon grape varietals, which is what I do here, on this podcast. In order to apply for membership, you have to fill out an application and at minimum, you have to taste 100 different grape varietals in order to you know, be a part of the membership. So it takes a lot of time, money, energy, and a lot of wine drinking in order to become a member of this society. Last year, I reached my goal of filling out and completing my application and I sent it off to them so excited. You know, it feels so good when you reach a goal. However, I never heard back from anyone. So I'm like, let me give them some grace. I reached out again, and crickets I reached out again to their partner company crickets. It literally says on their website, that membership is open to everyone, even the dedicated Merlot drinker. So I am just a little baffled and confused about why I have never heard from this organization. Let me know your thoughts about this.
Hello and welcome to mo wine, mind mishaps, and more. We are here it is season four. Let's get it. I'm excited. I know I took a long hiatus, but I'm back on the blizzak. And we are starting off this season with our winter whites. So winter whites are not only for fashion, they're winter white minds that are more full-bodied. And the first one that we're going to get into this season is Vermentino. It is a full-bodied wine from the Italian island of Sardinia. I am excited to bring this to you because whites are not only for spring and summer they are full-bodied whites that fare well with winter. And like some lighter style soups, not too heavy. And this is one of them I wanted to bring to you. So, what would I pair this wine with just a lot of vegetable dishes, some roasted vegetables, some fish dishes, you have to think about where the history of the wine was comes from. So it's from that is from Ireland and Italian island off the main country of Italy. And so when you're coming from the island like you live and pair the wines with the foods, so there's going to be lots of vegetables, lots of seafood, lots of fish dishes, maybe light affair salads, shellfish, things of that nature. I just wanted to come in tell you about all the excellent things that have been happening since I've been on my hiatus. Mo wine has a brand new website, I want you to go check it out. Let me know what you think. If you're listening to this episode, please take a screenshot of you listening to the episode and share it with me on Instagram at mo wine for you. I would love to see your pictures. Or if you are in the market for any wine or you want to try something out or you're feeling adventurous, I encourage you to go get some Vermentino. If you are having any trouble finding Vermentino, click on the link and check out Wine Text from The Wine Library.

Hello and welcome to mo wine wine mishaps and more, I am your host Chandra Savage. Welcome, welcome, welcome. This evening we have a sweet treat for you as a 2017 Le Fleur Lily Monbazillac from the Bergerac region of France. It is a blend of Semillon,Muscadelle and Sauvignon Blanc, that's 80% Semillon 10% Mosquito and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. So, you know that I am a fan of dry red wines but, tonight we have a sweet dessert wine, and it is going to be something similar to ice wine I don't know if any of you are familiar with ice wine but the process of making ice wine in the soldier. So turns wine. And also, this Monbazillac is made of late harvest grapes. So they keep them harvested for as long as they can, So, they have the optimum sweetness.
Chandra Savage Hello and welcome to mo wine mishaps, and more. I am your host Chandra Savage. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Tonight is so special because, on June 19, 2020, I debuted this podcast. Can you believe it, we hear it's a year later. We've tasted so many beautiful wines, and tonight is not going to be an exception. Tonight we're going to be having the 2019 Garzon Tannat from Uruguay. It is a dry red wine from the Basque region of Uraguay. But before we get into that have some notes that I will share with you. So, this particular wine has been aged in oak for about 20 months, it is a Tannat Reserva, so there's going to be a lot of oak on there you know that straight off the bat, but it is also a highly tannic wine and tannins are chemical compounds that are found in the fruit and the stems and the seeds of the grapes. And so when they process the wine they keep the stems and seeds intact with skins and that produces the tannins and red wines tend to be highly tannic or more tannic than white wines, so it gives like a bitter taste. But this tonight is the top of tannic wines that I've had, for sure. And a little fun fact for all of you, wines with more tannins have more antioxidants and more resveratrol which preserves your heart health. So, we're being responsible we're drinking responsibly, we're taking care of our health responsibly, and preserving our hearts. That's why I love you all to share all of that information with you. Before we get into the good good. Also, if you're listening to tonight's episode, I want you to take a screenshot for me, and shoot it over to me on Instagram @mowineforu, and let me know like with some of your key takeaways from this evening as we get into the wine, and I also have a very special announcement free at the end so stay with me all the way to the end so you can hear all about the extra fabulosity coming your way. So, let's get into it. This wine. Let me tell you, you have to give this wine so much air. This is a wine that you break out the decanter and you pour the wine into the decanter and leave it for hours and hours, even a day if you had the time, but ain't nobody got time for that. I decanted this wine for about two and a half hours, just to get it rounded out and take off some of the edges because this is a hard wine. This is a heavy hitter, heavy heavy hitter. So I tried to air it out as much as I could. But the show must go on. So let's get into it. The appearance is gorgeous, it's like a dark, It's almost like blackish red, it is so, so deep, deep and dark and mysterious looking. Hmm. So let's get into the nose because the nose, always knows. I'm going to give it a swirl because clearly, we didn't have a day to decant this wine so I'm just going to, I even use the aerator, just so you know. Yeah, we made a lot of time for this puppy. I always loved that part. So it's full of BlackBerry on the nose. There's some leather in there some plum. This and some earthy undertones. Also some herbs in there so there's, there's a lot of stuff going on in this on the nose and low key, very low key. I also smell a little bit of ham on it but that could be just me. It smells divine, so let's taste it. all that this wine, baby. This is for a grown folk show. I don't want any of the young ones coming for tonight because it's not for you. Do you hear me? This one is highly acidic. Highly tannic highly acidic. This is a tough mama JAMA, I'm telling you, but the flavors are beautiful, it's like a jammy plum and Blackberry. So, with the nose picked up the tongue picked up as well. There's also some like licorice in there that I didn't pick up on the nose, which is odd, but the nose is always nose. And so maybe it's just a little bit, but there's definitely some smoking there and some herbs may be like mint, and most of all, there is some chocolate. I love all of those flavors in my wines I gravitate towards wines that have more smoke more leather more plans or herbs. I love it all. I'm here for it. I just don't have time for this baby to air out like this. No one does. So, but it's all good. I love it, you're supposed to save it on a cooler side so about 60 degrees. I tried, I tried Yeah, but the show must go on, like I said, I got this wine from Whole Foods, I got it from Whole Foods for like 1499 excellent price point, alcohol content that's kind of high on this is about 14% Alcohol. But, man, what a beautiful wine to have with a meal. you have to have this wine with food, or a heavy, heavy hardier teas like blue cheese, or maybe like parmesan or ice ago. You've got to you got to break it up, you got to break up this heavy hitter right here. You can also pair it with any type of like barbecue beef stews, lamb, or if you are not a carnivore, you would have to have like a mushroom a hearty mushroom meal, or a mushroom burger. This might be at the top of the big girls. Shout out to the big girl wine lovers out there, you know, I call them really robust, larger-than-life wines, I call them big girls so that's what I mean by shout out to the big girls and this wine is Big Mama right here. This one is definitely on the top, and I love it and I'm so happy I got to share it with you. You know, it's very intense. The flavors are really pronounced the Romans are pronouns. There's just so much plum and chocolate and smoke and leather in there that it's, it's tough, I promise you, it is. But it's super dry so there's no sweetness in it at all. But it is beautiful in the finish. Oh my gosh, the finish is phenomenal. It just wants to stay, and then wants to move in, you know you can tell a lot about a wine about how it finishes when you drink it, and the long finish is normally an indication that it is a good value, high-quality wine, and this data zone, tonight is no exception. It's a beautiful line, and I'm so happy I got to share it with you. Now for a little storytime so confession, my first crush in elementary school. He was from, little guy. And that is the first time I've ever heard of this boy, we were in second grade, third grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, and sixth grade, we were in all our classes together, throughout elementary school, and I had the biggest crush on him. I remember I asked my mom to make the sandwiches and like little hearts, I could give them to him, or you know when you go to school you can buy your friend a rose or buy them some candy. All the money went to this boy. And we even went, we even started junior high school together. And when I didn't see him all summer from when we graduated elementary school to when we got to junior high school. You could tell me that he was not going to be my boyfriend forever. And he gave me my first kiss. So Uruguay is very near and dear to my heart. Even though that gentleman moved away, he actually left after the first year of junior high school and moved back to undergrad so, but I know he's back in the States, we've been in touch over the years, and he has a beautiful family he's a beautiful life, and I'm so glad that we get to speak now and again. So that's just a little fun fact for you guys, little tidbit about me. Anywho, big announcement, big, huge. I'm putting a little something together for you. And I have created a waitlist. I am in the process of developing a community for the MO wine this is, and it's not going to be on Facebook. So if you want to participate. I encourage you to get on the waitlist. You can find the information on the waitlist. I'm on my bio at Instagram, you can go to the link tree and get on the waitlist, you know, last week was a pretty good week for me pretty big week, I released wind buys volume two-sided about that. Hello and welcome to more wine. Wine mishaps and more, I am your host, Chandra savage. Welcome, welcome, welcome. So last week was very exciting because I was telling you all about pins and the whole month is full of prints, and tonight is not going to be any different. We just celebrated his birthday yesterday, so happy birthday to Prince. But tonight's episode is sponsored by Born Savage, LLC. It's an online store that specializes in women's activewear we also have unisex tees and bomber jackets, lots of leggings and I'm bringing this up because I launched a Prince collection on Born Savage, a couple of weeks ago and I'm very excited. I've gotten lots of great feedback on it, some sales too and it's just, it's been fabulous. So tonight, Born Savage is sponsoring Mo Wine. It's a family affair, everyone. You can shop the collection at www.bornsavage.shop And tonight, we are going to be drinking an st Jacques wine from the Iberian Peninsula in Spain, the area is actually called Bierzo, and the main grape of Saint Jacques is Mencia, and that is the grape that we are covering tonight. I am excited about this wine we've had excellent value wines out of Spain, really robust, they are elegant, some of them a jammy some of them are chalky, some of them are chewy. But tonight we're going to get into this new wine. Guess what color it is, it's purple. And I'm drinking it out of my love symbol Prince goblet tonight so, not just a regular wineglass for the occasion. You know we got to keep it purple. And there's no better way to keep it purple than to look at this beautiful dark purple color of this wine. it's a clear wine. And it looks interesting because there's a little hint of Garnet around the rim. So I'm interested to see what we are going to be having tonight, I'm going to give it a little swirl, get some air up in this piece. Let's get into the nose because the nose, always news. I love that part. So, it smells like tea and wet rocks, I'm not gonna lie to you. It's not an ultra-sexy bouquet. But there's some spice in there definitely some pepper. But I just keep smelling wet rock and then the pepper and the spice, there's another spice in there like some type of baking spice, and maybe some cloves by, but let's taste it. Yeah. So this wine has a lot of tannins in it, which is beautiful. It's a good, robust dry red wine. It's got medium acidity, the tannins are on the high side I just, I can't lie. It's got a beautiful body, like medium body medium to full body. And the flavor is tasty. Tastes like tea doesn't taste like wet rocks, but I definitely taste tea. There's definitely a pronounced pepper and spice in there as well some tart cherry, maybe like a little bit of BlackBerry on the back end, but is very structured. This wine has an excellent price point, I think I got it for around $16.99, and has about 13% alcohol. The Mencia grape makes these wines that are higher in alcohol, and they range anywhere from 13% to 17% so this is on the lower end of the spectrum. And I'm okay with that, but you definitely need to have this with some food. You're definitely gonna need like a, like a turkey or some type of cured meats, ham, or some roasted meats, maybe some like pastrami, or salami something cured, to take the edge off of it, and that would pair nicely with this wine. I'm not pairing it with anything this evening, I had dinner very early on I had a busy day and I was recovering from all the celebrations from last night, but you probably wondering how am I going to tie in Prince and wine, besides the wineglass. Well, I want to give you a fun fact. In 2019 Netflix released this movie called wine country, and it was staring Myay Rudolph, who also belongs to a Prince cover group called Princess. And at the end of the movie they close the movie out with the princess rendition of, I would die for you. And it was hilarious. I actually had the opportunity to see Princess perform in New York City, maybe like I went let's say like six years ago, and the group is really really good. And it helps that you can see the passion that both Maya, and the woman that sings with her. They have a really big passion for wine, they have a big passion for Prince, and so I just felt like it would be so awesome just to share that information with these, you could put that in your glass and sip it. I'm feeling the 2018 Ultreia Saint Jacques. And, if you can get over the wet rock on the nose, you know, some minor details. Anywho, I hope that you learned a little bit tonight about this beautiful Mencia grape from the Bierzo region of Spain, and you had a little treat, learning some Prince knowledge. If you found any value in tonight's episode, please like, share, tell a friend, tell a friend, hit me up on the interwebs at Instagram at mowineforu, Facebook at mowineforu, and Twitter at mowineforu. Oh, also, I almost forgot to tell you, I released Wine Barz Volume Two today, and it's out for digital download I'm so excited about this volume. I love writing these limericks because it's gonna help you remember the wines in a fun way, not in a stuffy. You know, stiff suit way. So please, if you're interested in, you know, purchasing the Wine Barz, Vol. 2. Head over to www,buymeacoffee.com/mowineforu. That's it for this evening. I had such a fabulous time talking about my two great loves Prince and wine, I'll see you next week. Ciao tutti.
If you would like to support the Mo Wine - Wine, Mishaps and More podcast, you can visit http://www.buymeacoffee.com/mowineforu Today is the 1st day of June. June is a very important month for me because I am a huge Prince fan and his birthday is coming up. As we continue exploring new wines this month, I will share some fun facts about Prince or some cool information in honor of Prince. I'm calling this episode tonight. Pouring it up for Prince. And tonight we are going to be tasting a 2018 GSM blend from the resto region of France. That's in the Rhone Valley and the Rhone Valley or people like to call them, Rome Rangers in California. They are known for doing these blends of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. These three grapes together, make the Rhone-style wines, in the southernmost region of France, and they make some really, really delicious wines. So we are having the 2018 Gabrielle Meffre, Rasteau Rhone wine, I have curated a special Prince Playlist for my subscribers to relax and have a glass of wine. Be on the lookout for the email. Ciao a tutti!
Happy National Wine Day! Tonight we are tasting the 2018 Chateau Dereszla Dry Tokaj from Hungary. Tokaj is a blend of 85% Furmint, 11% Harshlevelu, and 4% Muscat. While Tokaj Aszu is a world-renowned sweet wine, this particular Tokaj is dry and made without the addition of the aszu paste, made from the Botrysized aszu grapes, where all of the sugar is concentrated to make Tokaj Aszu. While you would usually find the Puttnayos levels (a measure of sweetness) on the labels of Tokaj Aszu, there are no levels on this label because this wine is bone dry, with jaw numbing acidity and a full body. Tokaj is a medium-bodied, dry, white wine that boast hints of honey, apple, and almond on the nose, and minerals and luscious apples on the palate. At $16.50, this is a great value wine to be paired with either Pate or some Bleu Cheese. If you enjoyed tonight's episode and you would like to support Mo Wine, please visit: Buy Me a Glass of Wine
Tonight is the final episode of Season 2 and we are going to be tasting 2019 Marani Akhasheni Saperavi from the Republic of Georgia in what was known as the Soviet Union. Saperavi is a late harvest grape so it is a semi-sweet red wine. Here is a fun fact, Georgia has over 500 identifiable indigenous grapes varieties. Can you believe that? I could do multiple seasons of this podcast just covering indigenous grapes from this one country alone and they have been producing wine for over 8,000 years. How cool is that? Saperavi is also another teinturier grape, which means the flesh on the inside is colored as well as the outside. Most grapes either red or white have white flesh inside the grapes. This wine boasts a beautiful purple hue with a hint of red, has high tannins and really high acidity once you swirl it around in your mouth. It is full of black fruits like plum and currants and has cigars and cinnamon wrapped in there as well. it is a very full wine with a wonderful mouthfeel that seems like it will never leave your mouth wanting for more. Saperavi would pair wonderfully with any style of Pizza or Pasta but, could also be served with dessert. With an 11% alc. content, you will be feeling fine with a glass or two. At a $13 price point, it is a win-win. If you would like to partner with me on Mo Wine bringing you really cool wines to drink from all around the world, go to Buy me a Coffee or a Glass of Wine. We are winding down, season two, we have one more episode to go after tonight. And then we'll be back after a short hiatus, we're going to do some rejigging of our programming and to make it better for you for season three. So tonight, I'm excited. So excited, because we are tasting a 2018 Sankt Laurent from the Krems region of Austria, and it is grown in Lower Austria. They cultivate about under 2000, acres. Sankt Laurent is an indigenous grape there and that's why I wanted to present it this evening and taste it with all of you, for the first time ever. @Lisaheaven, who is a friend and a faithful listener, you are definitely gonna want to grab a bottle of this. Tonight we are tasting a wine from Croatia. We will be reviewing the 2018 Vina Skaramuca Plavac Mali, which is grown along the Dalmatian Coast on the southern part of Croatia. This wine has a gorgeous ruby color with excellent clarity. On the nose, there is nothing but dirt, plums, and blueberries. Its intensely long finish is rounded off nicely with some herbaceous undertones, medium tannins, and well-balanced acidity. The alcohol content is on the higher side at 13%, so you are going to need to pair this with some meat, like a pot roast or some steak and creamy potatoes. If you are not a carnivore, you can have a beautiful pairing with some mushroom risotto. If you are a fan of Zinfandel, then you will definitely enjoy Plavac Mali. You can check out her collection at www.sleekbysyan.com and follow her journey on Instagram @Sleekbysyan. Getariako Txakolina is one of the most exotic wines that I have had the privilege of sharing with my listeners. It is made from 100% Hondarrabi Zuri, a native grape in the Basque region of Spain. It has a surprising fizziness to it when poured in small portions. The wine is pale yellow in color and is very delicate with zesty lemon and pineapple flavors. Don't let the description fool you. This is a bone-dry white that would pair well with any seafood dish, and it is low in alcohol with an alc of 11%. Tonight we are tasting the 2016 Confidencial Tinto Reserva. This is a beautiful, bold, 90 point banger that is super sexy. It does have a muted bouquet on the nose, but once you give it some more air it really reveals itself quite nicely. With its dark ruby hue, I can already tell that there is going to be some prominent cherries dancing around on my palate. I love the wood on this wine because it plays its position. It lets the fruit and the pepper notes shine. It slides the minerality of the wine to the second base and brings us all the way home with the muted wood undertone. Feel free to pair with some spinach and mushroom-based dishes or some roasted meat meals. Or, you could just rock the bottle solo. There is almost a chalkiness to it because it is grown primarily in limestone soil. So just to wrap it up. Color - Ruby Bouquet - Cherry and Peppercorn Low to medium acidty Medium Tannins Palate - Dry with prominent minerality and cherry flavors If you would like to keep some of your coins and save on shipping, you can use my referral code. http://winetext.com?wcr=43fcf6bf You can support the Podcast at https://www.buymeacoffee.com/mowineforu --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
Tonight we are tasting the 2018 Buena Pinta, Moravia Agria from the La Mancha region in Spain. This is a blend of the dark-colored Moravia and Garnacha. Here is a little fun fact. The word Agria means bitter. See how I upgrade you every week, lol. This wine boasts a beautiful dark ruby hue and is full of cola, cherries, herbs, and coffee on the nose. You don't get to the Agria part until you taste it. It is a full-bodied wine with a nice long rustic finish. Although the tannins are on the medium side, the acidity is reaching some new heights. At $14.99, this is an excellent value wine and 12% alcohol is a sweet spot to be in as to not overpower the character of the wine. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
Tonight we are tasting the 2019 Passaros from Anselmo Mendes. Loureiro is a white wine grape from Portugal in the Northern region of Portugal. Here is a fun fact, Portugal has 350 different indigenous wine varietals. Did you know that? I think that is pretty cool. This wine is very zippy, full of mouth-puckering acidity and a freshness that can only be associated with a warm breeze on a summer night. What I love about this wine is that there are no tannins in this wine. Can you imagine tannins on top of that acidity in white wine? Ain't nobody got time for that. This is a very young, light-bodied wine that I can only see being paired with Sushi or some sort of fish dish. I love the light lemon hue of the wine and it has just the right amount of length on the finish. Just beautiful at a price point of around $14 or so. Don't miss the opportunity to try this wine. It is lower in alcohol at around 12%, which is just fine for white wine. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
I am not in love with sweet wines, but I can respect them. And so I am learning just like you are this is my first time having Dornfelder. So let's get into it, it's, it's so like I said the color is gorgeous. Just seems really deep, dark red grape, but it's like inky purple like almost bordering like if wine could be black, it probably would be black. But, um, yeah. You know I tried to give it a lot of air because I wasn't, I didn't know what to expect so I was trying to give it a lot of air. So, but the color I mean, I just love it you know purple is my favorite color so I'm down with anything that has any type of purple in it but it's a, it's a clear wine it's really the colors just intense, intense purple. So let's get into the nose because the nose, always knows So, it tastes like a fruitcake, in a glass, that's what it tastes like. It's not as sweet as ice mine but it is a sweet wine and I know, tons of people. Tons of people that adore sweet wines, and, ladies and gentlemen, if you are listening this evening. You might want to get into this Dornfelder, it is right up your alley. I know a lot of my dream catcher sisters would love this wine. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
In tonight's show, we are tasting Alicante Bouchet which is originally from the Languedoc- Roussillon region in France. Henri Bouchet planted the grape in the mid-1800s and comes from the red-fleshed Teinturier grape variety. It has also found great success in Spain and Portugal. Teinturier literally means “dry” and is a cross between Petit Bouchet and Grenache. We are having the 2017 Coelheiros from Portugal. It boasts a beautiful deep purple hue with an intense nose of black fruits, olives, and chocolate with a spicy finish. It is a bold wine that has 14% alcohol and should be prepared with a hearty vegetarian meal and grains or. Perhaps some lamb or BBQ. This will be one of the times where you can definitely break out your finest decanter and let it breathe for 30 or so minutes. Yanno I like my big girl wines and this wine is like is thicker than a snicker, which might pair well with this as well. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
Happy Inauguration Day! Welcome President Biden and Madam Vice President Kamala Harris! The inauguration wine that I am celebrating with is the 2017 6th Sense Syrah from Michael David Winery. Congrats to them on winning the 2020 American Winery of the year. On this day, last year, I was actually in Sicily and most likely drinking a glass of Nero D'Avola, the star of the show today. Tonight we are tasting the 2016 International Eastern Wine Competition's Silver Award-winning wine from Villa Amoroso. Villa Amoroso is located in Tuscany but the grapes are from Sicily. Nero D'Avola is the most widely grown grape in Sicily which has an IGT classification, which stands for Indicazione Geografica Tipica. It is the 3rd classification out of 4 of the Italian government wine distinctions. This is not a wine that likes to be alone. It is to be enjoyed with spaghetti and meatballs or can be paired with some Mediterranean dishes. You can find a bottle between $12 to $17. Nero D'Avola is full of plum, tobacco, chocolate, and spice, --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
Welcome to Season 2 of Mo Wine - Wine, Mishaps, and More. Tonight, we are tasting the 2018 Marques Turia Bobal/Shiraz Blend. Bobal is primarily grown to produce bulk wine for mass production or used a the base wine for red blends in Spain. Bobal is the 3rd largest grape grown in the Valencia, Jumilla, Yecla, and Manchuela regions. It is a medium-bodied, lightweight, dry wine with light to medium acidity and it is totally ok to keep this served chilled. On the nose, you can smell black cherries and tea leaves, and oregano. The alcohol content is are 12.5%. In the world of wine, that is light work. Tonight to cap off this season, we are tasting the 2019 Barista Pinotage from South Africa. This wine has more tannins than a little bit with medium acidity, I love how it just coats your tongue and sits with you for a nice long finish. This wine is a little chewy but I am here for it. Pinotage was created in 1961 in South Africa and it is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cincsault. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mo-wine/support
Tonight we are tasting a 2014 Riserva from Carignano Del Slucis Carignano is an ancient grape varietal from Sardina, Italy. Del Sulcis is the southernmost tip of Sardinia. It is a little spicey, a little vegetal and a little dirty. Almost like a Dirty Martini but in wine form. Here is a little fun fact for you, in order for a wine to be designated as Riserva in Sardinia, The DOCG mandates that Carignano must be blended with Cannonau, a.k.a. Grenache. So put that in your glass and sip it Gavi is full of Pineapple and Green Apple on the nose with some minerality. It is a crisp, medium body wine with high acidity and tannins. Gavi has a pale straw hue with hints of lemon undertones with a medium finish.
