En La Ventana de Navarra hablamos con Ignacio Gil Jordán, el director de Agricultura y Ganadería en el departamento de Desarrollo Rural tras el positivo en gripe aviar que ha dado el cadáver de una grulla en la Ribera de Navarra: "Con seguridad, habrá más casos". Gil recuerda que es necesario extremar la vigilancia en las granjas.

Tras nuestro paso por la castellonense localidad de Catí, vamos a seguir hacia el norte para a través de la nacional 420, llegar tras 140 kms a la localidad tarraconense de García, un municipio con nombre de conserje. Ahora a lo mejor Álvaro os explica el significado de la N-420. (Una Córdoba con Tarragona, como si alguien alguna vez de un sitio fuese ir al otro) En García hay unos 543 habitantes, y su gentilicio es garciano o garciana. Es una localidad situada en la Ribera del Ebro, justo en el límite con El Priorat. Y no es que esté relativamente cerca del Ebro, es que te descuidas con una borrachera y vas a parar al Ebro. Está tan solo a 63 kms de Tarragona, así que la gente puede ir en un salto al Corte Inglés de Tarragona. Tiene un pasado íbero, y posteriormente fue villa romana. Estuvo ocupada por los sarracenos, que hacen un trigo muy bueno, el trigo sarraceno. Fue conquistada por Ramón Berenguer IV…que a mi lo que me extraña es que hubiera tres antes con el mismo nombre. Ramón Berenguer IV era conocido como “El Santo”, y era en realidad entre otros títulos nobiliarios, Conde de Barcelona, como el padre del que le quitaba los bollos a la furgoneta a empujones. El rey Jaime II lo cede a uno de sus hijos, seguramente porque se lo merecía, y llama a la comarca Condado de Prades, que pasa más tarde a la Casa Ducal de Cardona. Curiosamente para mejorar la defensa, la casa de Cardona (que parece de Juego de Tronos), reedifica el pueblo en lo alto de un cerro, y es allí donde está ahora, es decir, que el Garcia Original vete tu a saber dónde está. Cómo está situado en el Ebro, sufrió bastante en la guerra civil, con la famosa batalla del Ebro. Entre otras cosas, se destruyó la iglesia , que nunca fue demolida ni reconstruida, pero luego los flojos somos los andaluces. SU patrimonio más importante es: Iglesia Vieja Castillo de García Y el resto de la información estaba en Catalán y mejor que cagarla yo se lo preguntamos luego a alguien. Sus fiestas se celebran en el mes de Agosto y las de este año duraron del 1 al 23 de agosto, pero después somos nosotros los que estamos todo el día en la Feria. Como en tantos días da tiempo a hacer tantas cosas, hay caminatas y senderismo, torneos de padel, torneo de tiro al plato, bingo musical, vermú electrónico, que digo yo que será un vermut con música trallera, y grandes orquestas como la Orquesta venus, y por lo que veo en un cartel mucho comer y muchas barbacoas. Son 23 días, deben acabar reventados.

En este episodio el podcast viajero de Libertad Digital va a un lugar impresionante de Suiza y a destinos muy interesantes en la provincia de Burgos. Carmelo Jordá y Kelu Robles nos llevan en esta edición de El Placer de Viajar a un par de destinos en Burgos y a un rincón excepcional de Suiza. Es el colaborador más habitual del programa, David Alonso, el que relata su viaje por Suiza, destacando el glaciar Aletsch, el más grande de los Alpes. Este lugar, Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, se extiende 23 km y ofrece una naturaleza abrumadora. El acceso es especial, combinando trenes y teleféricos, dado que en la zona solo circulan vehículos eléctricos*. David se alojó en Riederalp y Bettmeralp, pequeños pueblos alpinos con vistas espectaculares, describiendo un paisaje idílico de Heidi. La experiencia incluyó una capilla en Bettmeralp con una panorámica asombrosa y el desafío del frío a altitudes de hasta 2.800 metros. En cuanto a la gastronomía, la cocina suiza es marcadamente calórica, con platos como la fondue y la raclette. Recomendó el restaurante Chüestall, una antigua cuadra de vacas, donde probó la cólera, un pastel de verduras y frutas. Para los viajeros, destacó la utilidad de la tarjeta Swiss Pass y la posibilidad de comprar quesos en el supermercado Migros del aeropuerto de Zúrich. Kelu Robles, por su parte, viajó a Clunia Sulpicia, una imponente ciudad romana en la provincia de Burgos. Su historia se remonta al siglo I d.C., cuando Servio Galba se refugió allí antes de convertirse en emperador. La ciudad llegó a ocupar 130 hectáreas y se estima que tuvo 18.000 habitantes. Tras el declive romano, fue cubierta por la naturaleza, lo que permitió su conservación. Entre sus singularidades, destacan sus casas adaptadas al clima, con un sofisticado sistema de abastecimiento de agua y un innovador sistema de calefacción por hypocausto. El yacimiento de Clunia Sulpicia cuenta con un enorme teatro con capacidad para 9.000 personas, superando incluso al de Mérida. También alberga una curiosa ermita visigoda, vinculada a Santo Domingo de Guzmán. Kelu Robles continuó su recorrido por la comarca de la Ribera del Duero, visitando Peñaranda de Duero, una localidad pintoresca que muestra la grandeza de la arquitectura de los Condes de Miranda, quienes impulsaron su desarrollo monumental. En Peñaranda de Duero, la Colegiata es un templo de gran tamaño que tardó 200 años en construirse, con una impresionante bóveda de crucería estrellada. El pueblo destaca también por sus bodegas subterráneas, como la Bodega de la Cárcel, que ahora funciona como centro cultural. Además, Peñaranda cuenta con la botica más antigua de España, un taller de cerámica tradicional y un castillo imponente con seis plantas y un calabozo, reconvertido en centro de interpretación de castillos. La gastronomía local incluye morcilla de Burgos, lechazo al horno y exquisitos postres como el hojaldre de crema y nata, disfrutados por Kelu en el restaurante Posada Ducal.

They provide protection as a chemical deterrent against plant-eating animals and insects. Their bitter, astringent taste is unpalatable to herbivores. The antioxidant capacity of tannins reduces the need for sulfur dioxide in wine and permits a more natural preservation strategy.Tannin evolution is a sophisticated process of molecular transformation. In the beginning, tannin molecules are small and can create bitter, harsh sensations—qualities of their defense properties. That's why young tannic wines can be almost undrinkable. Over time, tannic molecules undergo polymerization where individual molecules link together to form complex chains that interact differently on your palate. Complex chain tannins taste softer and less astringent. Bottle aging is a real thing.Tannins also stabilize color, or subtly modify it. Young red wines get their color primarily through unstable free anthocyanins which would fade without tannins. During fermentation and early aging, anthocyanins bind with tannin molecules to form polymeric pigments, which tend to stabilize the color. As wine ages, however, there is a slow change to brick-red hues. Brick red hues often are a marker for quality, aged red wines.Tannins are a core element of the world's great wines built for aging. But that comes at a cost. Such wines can be undrinkable in their youth, requiring years in oak and then in bottle to evolve into the pinnacle pours treasured by wine connoisseurs. That process adds costs. The winery most hold the wine for years before they can get return on their investment. The customer must do the same, which means a dedicated place like a temperature-controlled cellar before they can enjoy.Such patience is hard to find in today's world of social media, cell phones, and on-demand streaming content. The large majority of wines are made to be enjoyed when you get home from the store. Even winemakers capable of making age-worthy wines now reduce tannins with techniques like holding back on lengthy maceration (time on skins, a major source of tannins), or employing strategies such as cold soaking, gentle cap management, micro-oxygenation, sur lie élevage, fermentation in concrete eggs and other methods. There is a possible trade-off: reducing the ageability of the wine.Red wines are wines with the most tannins and wines most-associated with aging—although there are white and sparkling wines that are aged—in those cases, acidity is the main preservative, not tannins.Here are some of the most tannic wines and the length of aging time for them to achieve their peaks:• Nebbiolo. Used to make Barolo and Barbaresco in northern Italy, nebbiolo wines—by DOCG regulations—must be aged a minimum of 38 months from November 1 of the harvest year. Top-tier Barolo Riserva must age a minimum of 18 months in barrel and cannot be released until January 1 of the sixth year after harvest. Barolo and Barbaresco easily can age 25 years before reaching their peak.• Cabernet Sauvignon. It's been 13 years since I've done a grape miniseries on Tempranillo, so it was high time! This grape has come a long way in a decade +, proving that it has more nuance, terroir driven finesse, and versatility than it gets credit for.    Tempranillo is now the third most widely planted wine grape in the world, at 231,000 ha/570,000 acres. It is not widely grown outside of Spain but there are growers in 17 countries making a go of it. That said, 88% of Tempranillo's vineyard area is in Spain and most of it is in the northern central parts, with Rioja and Ribera del Duero as the shining stars.                                                                         Photo: Getty Images via Canva   In this show, I go over the DNA and history of the grape and I discuss the many, many names it has. I talk about how it reacts to terroir and its behavior in the vineyard, and why it is so uniquely suited to the special areas in Spain where it thrives. I talk about winemaking and its effect on the grape and then I dive into the aging criteria of Spain (Generico, Crianza, Reserva, Gran Reserva) before going over the specific regions in Spain, Portugal, and the New World in which this grape does amazing things.   This is one of the most important grapes in the world, and the mini-series is packed with info! España ha batido el récord de gente que está trabajando. 22 millones, según la EPA. Es un hito, objetivamente. Un hito que, objetivamente, convive con precios disparados en la vivienda y con la realidad de los salarios. Según el consejo de la juventud, un joven cobra de media en España 1.048 euros al mes. Para su alquiler y los gastos del alquiler necesita 1.200. ¿Para encontrar qué? Miremos en internet: Malasaña, en Madrid, 850 euros por un piso -vamos a llamarlo así- de 15 metros cuadrados. En la Ribera, en Barcelona, 900 euros por uno de 18. En Bilbao, 800 euros por 32 metros. Será imposible leer un dato, aunque sea el mejor, sin tener en cuenta que, para mucha gente, tener un trabajo no garantiza llegar a final de mes o para construir su propio proyecto de vida.

Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:17–19Saints Peter and Paul are often referred to as two of the great “Pillars of the Church.” They each played an incredibly essential role in the establishment of the early Church. And though each of their roles was essential and foundational, their roles were as different as they were different as persons.Peter was a family man, a local fisherman, uneducated and quite ordinary. From what we know about him prior to being called by Jesus, there was nothing that made him uniquely qualified to become one of the pillars of the new Church to be established by the Son of God. Jesus simply called him, and he responded. Jesus got into Peter's boat, ordered him to lower the nets, and produced a huge catch of fish. When Peter saw this miracle, he fell down at Jesus' feet and acknowledged that he was “a sinful man” who was unworthy of being in Jesus' presence (See Luke 5:8). But Jesus informed Peter that he would from now on be catching men. Peter immediately left everything behind and followed Jesus.Paul describes himself as “a Jew, born at Tarsus in Cili′cia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gama′li-el, educated according to the strict manner of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God as you all are this day” (Acts 22:3). Paul was well educated in the strictest interpretation of the Jewish law, understood philosophy and was quite zealous as a young man. Recall, also, that prior to becoming a convert to Christianity, he “persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it” (Galatians 1:13). In many ways, Paul would have been seen as the most unlikely person to be chosen to be a pillar of the Church, because he so vigorously opposed it at first. He even supported the killing of Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr. Though each of these men would have been considered by many as very unlikely founders of the Christian Church, this is exactly what they became. Paul, after his conversion, traveled far and wide to preach the Gospel, founding several new Churches throughout Asia Minor and Europe. Eventually he was arrested in Jerusalem, brought to Rome for trial and was beheaded. Over half of the New Testament books are attributed to Paul and half of the Acts of the Apostles detail Paul's missionary journeys. Paul is especially known for his missionary activity to the Gentiles, those who were not Jews. Peter's role was truly a unique one. His name was changed from “Simon” to “Peter” by Jesus. Recall Jesus saying, “And I tell you, you are Peter (Petros), and on this rock (petra) I will build my church…(Matthew 16:18). “Peter” in Greek is Petros. However, the Greek word petra means a rock as a solid formation that is fixed, immovable, and enduring. Therefore, Jesus chose to make Peter a solid foundation of immovable rock on which the Church was to be built.You, too, have been called by our Lord to a unique mission within the Church that has not been entrusted to another. In your own way, God wants to use you to reach certain people with the Gospel as He did with Saint Paul. And like Saint Peter, God wants to continue to establish His Church upon you and your faith. Reflect, today, upon these two holy and unique pillars of our Church. As you do, ponder how God may want to use you to continue their mission in this world. Though Saints Peter and Paul are among the greatest and most consequential Christians within our world, their mission must continue, and you are among the instruments that God wants to use. Commit yourself to this mission so that the preaching of the Gospel and the rock foundation of our Church will remain strong within our day and age just as it was of old. Saint Peter, you were uniquely chosen to be a rock foundation of faith upon which the Church was established. Saint Paul, you went forth to preach this faith far and wide, establishing many new communities of faith. Please use me, dear Lord, to continue the mission of Your Church so that the faith may be firmly planted in the minds and hearts of all Your people throughout the world. Acts 2:1-4, 14-18, 21; 2:22-24, 32-33, 36-39, 42-47Point #1 “The Pentecost Event”  Acts 2:1-13The Pentecost event was accompanied by 3 supernatural signs:  sound (blowing of a violent wind), sight (tongues of fire which came to rest on each of them and speech (filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues or languages as the Spirit enabled them).  Languages…     The miracle of Pentecost is 120 ordinary, unschooled men and women declaring the wonders of God in foreign languages they had never learned.  The Gospel being prophesied to the nations.  The crowds were amazed:  “we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues.  What does this mean?” -Acts 2:11b Point #2 The Explanation of Pentecost (Acts 2:14-41)-Joel's OT Prophecy-Luke explains that the extraordinary phenomenon of these Spirit-filled believers declaring God's wonders in foreign languages is the fulfillment of Joel's prediction that God would pour out his Spirit on all flesh.In other words, this (what you saw) is that (Joel 2 prophecy 800 BC ).  The Holy Spirit (his Presence & Power in the Body of Christ (aka-the Church).-Peter testified about JESUSJesus' life, death, resurrection, exaltation and his salvation.  The convicted crowd asked Peter:  “What must we do?”  Peter:  “Repent and be baptized.”Their decision enabled them to receive the 2 free gifts:Forgiveness of their sins  The Gift of the Holy SpiritOT Tabernacle-God's Power & Presence resided-OT Temple-God's Presence/Power-Holy of Holies-NT Jesus was FULL of the Spirit (Presence & Power)-Pentecost (in Paul's words):  “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT.” -1 Corinthians 6:19  *God IN YOU*Point #3  The Effect of Pentecost (Acts 2:42-47)-Learning Church-New Disciples (3,000 new disciples apprenticed to Jesus *3,000 kindergarteners*-Loving Church-Regularly connecting and generously meeting the needs of everyone in need.-Worshipping Church-Gathered together for worship corporately and in their homes (small groups)-Praying Church-Church was birthed in PRAYER.-Gospel Proclaiming Church-It was “Go Time.” “And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” -Acts 2:47bThe Church unstoppable-The Gospel is irresistible…to those humble enough to say:  WHAT must I DO?
