Only a few weeks back, Pushermania's Matt Sonzala was spending a Sunday afternoon the way he often spends his Sunday afternoons, listening to David Rodigan's reggae show on BBC 1xtra. Each week Rodigan highlights a track he feels is worth giving some extra shine, and out of his speakers came Ch'An, a new artist out of Barbados with an incredible single called "Trippin'." Matt had to find this song, and after an exhaustive search, that led literally nowhere, he found a link to an Instagram knockoff site that let him know the label behind this powerful new voice is Pretty Boy Records, also based in Barbados, and they had just released a version of "Trippin'" to the internet, on Soundcloud of course! A quick message to the label via Soundcloud messenger and the connect was made and soonafter Matt and Ch'An were on the Skype machine, recording this podcast. Follow Pretty Boy Records on the Soundcloud machine (https://soundcloud.com/pretty-boy-records) and keep watching www.pushermania.com as we will keep you up to date on all things Ch'An. And as a bonus towards the end of the podcast you will hear the international debut of her latest recording, a version of the Marcia Griffiths classic "Tell Me Now." NEW SOUNDS FROM BARBADOS AND YOU HEARD IT HEAR FIRST!
March 2013 Light n’ Easy Mixed on the fly at 30,000 ft on CX 134 bound for Hong Kong. As the title alludes, easy listening Deep and Soulful set. If I think about it, Light n’ Easy is my first real 2013 mix. I had let accumulated 26 hours of recently purchased tunes on my hard drive and the task of sieving through the sheer mass was daunting. With 8 and half hours spare flying to HK, I knew I had a chance to listen, categorize, rate, level all those tunes.. From there it was just a short step to open Traktor and let the set flow wherever the mood and tunes would take me.. Done on the fly, it is patchy but the result has unity and its own flavour. It is Light n’Easy.. Random Soul, Australian talent, is heavily promoted and they fully deserve the focus. There are a couple of older tracks offered by DJ Remixers and the set fluctuates from happy, beachy house to deeper soulful tunes. Playlist: 2012 Watching You (Yogi's RSR Boogie Mix). Random Soul 2013 Only You (Soledrifter Dub) [Xtian we the Beat Drop Edit feat Seductive Sapphire]. Alvarez & Marck Jamz 2013 Love Me Right (Seb Skalski & Masta P Remix) {Xtian Edit]. Random Soul feat.Kristen Pearson 2013 Mysterious (Richard Earnshaw Vocal). Random Soul 2011 Every Breath You Take (Scott Wozniak Remix) . Police feat. Sting 2013 Tell Me Now (The Layabouts Vocal Mix). The Layabouts feat. Portia Monique 2013 I Feel (Original Mix). Logistix pres. Deon Nathan 2012 Have Mercy (Original Mix). Matthias Heilbronn 2013 The Secret Life Of Us (Director's Cut Signature Mix) {Xtian House is a feeling Edit feat. Musicdans] . Joey Negro and The Sunburst Band, Donna Gardier, Diane Charlemagne 2013 Only Love (Main Vocal Mix) {Xtian I Feel Good Edit feat Roland Clark]. Monocles & Slezz with Andy Compton feat. Tantra Zawadi & Dana Byrd 2010 Whats Going On-Jask Tribute Mix [Xtian Slowed Down Groove] . Marvin Ft. MLK 2012 Missing Dreams (DJ Mumbles Mashup). Jask & Nikos Diamantopoulos vs. Everything But The Girl 2013 Someone Like You (Full Vocal Mix). Soulmagic Highlights: “Only You” by Alvarez & Marck Jamz, I am keeping the best remix of this release for a later date but great tune well worth buying. “Mysterious.”. Random Soul AND Richard Earnshaw.. nothing more to say. “Tell Me Now” by The Layabouts feat. Portia Monique.. Portia has and amazing voice and the Layabouts do what they always do pure perfection. “I Feel” by Logistix pres. Deon Nathan, a soulful gem, which other better remix I could not use because .. I just could not find the beat and refused to auto synch it in order to preserve the integrity of the tune for another set. From “Have Mercy” to “Only Love” and “What’s Going On” we are at the congruence of Classic and Modern Soulful House. As for “Someone Like You”, one of the best release of 2012, I just had to give you the pleasure of enjoying the very recently released tFull Vocal Mix.. Two little gems offered by DJs.. “Every Breath You Take” and the “Missing/Dreams” mash-up.. very clever. Full respect and gratitude to the Woz and Jask Enjoy and be kind, this was really done on the fly and uploaded a few hours after. Next one.. we a bit of luck I will continue the Nocturnes Serie Xtian
