Greetings Lovely Lifers, In this special Valentine's Day episode, I explore the significance of self-care. I've always been a fan of self-care.On this beautiful day of love, we need to remember that we should place an emphasis on how well we love ourselves just as important as how we treat our loved ones. As women, we wear so many hats, are so many things to so many people. Sometimes we forget how important it is to do something kind for ourselves. This episode emphasizes the importance of self-love as the foundation for all other forms of love. It can be a catalyst for self-reflection and self-care practices.A great way to begin practicing self-care is to begin to set boundaries in your relationships (not just the romantic ones, but, also regarding family and work). Think about some of the activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Are you currently doing any for yourself? If not, why not? Will you make yourself a promise right now to begin today? It is so important to include practicing mindfulness and self-compassion. It will provide us with a healthy mindset and help us maintain emotional well-being regardless of our relationship status. We need to remain open-minded and receptive to new connections and experiences. Life is too short not to live it happy and peacefully. Take yourself out on a date not only on Valentine's day, but throughout the year! Happy Valentine's day to you.Don't forget to subscribe for more insightful discussions on living a necessary and luxurious life!Love Always,Dawn-MarieXOXO
Do you like the way your skin looks? Today's episode I'll share 5 quick tips that can get your skin glowing like the sun. It's never too late or too early to begin to take good care of your skin. Our skin is one of the largest organs on our bodies and if we don't take care of it, it will show up in various ways like acne, wrinkles and fine lines, bumpy skin, or flakey skin. Grab your earbuds, take some notes and get your skin looking and staying beautiful. Enjoy and let me know how they work out for you. Much Love, Dawn-Marie
Greetings Lifers, I just learned that today is National Ex-Spouse Day. Breaking up is truly one of life's hardest things to do, especially when you're head over heels for the person, or you've dedicated so much time and energy into the relationship then it abruptly or slowly decays and ends. If you've never had a heart-wrenching breakup then thank the good Lord above. Did you know that the National Today Data Science Team surveyed 230 previously married Americans about their exes and found that: 17% say their ex got on their nerves! 9% said they split the household chores with their ex-spouse. 6% say they wear the pants in the relationship. 16% of divorced men, the most popular annoying trait about their ex-wives was being a "control freak" (any control freaks out there? I think I'm one of them). 17% of women said their most popular was their ex-husband's "selective listening". Let's not just look at the breakup as a bad thing. Let's instead, look at what some of the good things that might've come out of it. I did this exercise a few times and it really makes me happier. I've always believed that we meet people for a certain reason. They may only be in our lives for a short period of time, or, possibly a much lengthier one. Think about some of the amazing times you spent together, or, maybe they taught you how to do or live some way you never did before. If you look at the positives of what you actually got out of the time together, it will be easier to put the hurt behind and heal. If you're newly divorced, I'm sorry for your loss. But one thing I've learned is that we can lick our wounds only for so long. We must get up off our laurels, take a shower, get dressed, put on some nice clothes, a bit of perfume, do our hair (or get a new hairstyle and color), and some makeup, and get back in the game. One of the best things you can do for yourself right now is do something loving for yourself. Give yourself or treat yourself to a mani-pedi, a much-needed massage, facial, or take yourself out to a nice restaurant for a bite to eat. But, doing something good for yourself is the first step to healing. Another great way to heal from past hurts is to spend more time with family and friends that feed your well. That breaths life into your life. Don't hang around those who will deplete your energy. Now is the time to protect yourself from them. Call friends with whom you can spend hours laughing together, you know the kind, those deep belly laughs where you can't catch your breath and your face starts to hurt from laughing so much. This is the best medicine of all that you can find on this earth (and it won't cost a penny). Clearing out clutter can also be a refreshing way to begin anew. Out with the old, in with the new. Do a mini closet clearing. Take out all of the clothes that no longer serve your life as it is today. Remove all clothes that no longer fit, have any altered that you love and still want to have. And, if the budget allows, pick up a couple of new items to mix in the old ones and give it a bit of a refresher. Donate or give away any of the older items you no longer want. One of the most fun parts of a breakup is that now you get to think about yourself. Take the time to do new things, explore. Try adding one new thing to your day. A new route to work, a new color of lipstick (one of my favorite lipstick brands is Bobby Brown, or try a new style - a bohemian peasant blouse? It's important to have new goals and things to do. Get your mind on something fun. Think of 5 things you've always wanted to do but haven't done thus far. Then take the time and do one at a time and check them off. Make it a game, keep adding new ones each time you finish the last set. Keep your life fresh and you'll be much happier in the long run. Happy Day My Lovely Lifers, When you were a kid in school, or, possibly even recently, have you ever felt awkward when you raised your hand in class to ask the teacher a question? You might've thought "the kids are going to make fun of me with this question". I know only too well. I'm a big question asker and I found that by asking them over the years, I was truly able to attain what they were talking about and maybe even have dove a bit deeper than anticipated. Or, I might've asked questions and got the response "that's a good question" because they may not have thought about it and made them go a little deeper on the subject. Today's podcast is a gentle reminder to ask good questions when it comes to getting answers to important things that happen in our lives. Asking good questions will not only help you with what you're trying to achieve but, can also help you make good decisions when need be. One should never feel silly when asking a question. Especially if you truly don't understand, or, need more information to get it. Don't ever let yourself feel inadequate or ashamed to ask questions, remember there's no such thing as a bad question. So, ask away, you may just be surprised what you find out. Greetings Beautiful Lifers, Happy 2022!!! I hope you had a fantastic holiday season and you're off and running to an exciting new 2022. Today we are going to talk about one of my favorite accessories...hats! Hats are one of the quickest ways to change up an outfit. Let me ask you this question, do you like hats or do you find yourself saying "I don't look good in hats?” Well, if you're saying the latter, then, it's probably because you haven't found the right hat style for your face shape. I just love hats. I've been wearing them since I was a kid. I remember being teased about it when I was in my twenties. People would always ask me, "Why do you always wear hats?" And I'd reply, "because they're so much fun". Hats you can say are multi-talented, they can be a great conversation starter, can enhance any outfit, shield you from the sun and its damaging rays, and, last but not least, show a bit of one's personality to the world and last but not least because they're sooo freakin' cool! One of the reasons you may be thinking you don't look good in hats is because you may not know your face shape and which style look best on them. So be sure to add some "hat-itude with attitude!" Greetings Lovely Lifers, Did you know that you only have about 10 seconds when meeting someone for the first time to make a great first and lasting impression? Welcome Lifers, Today is National Splurge Day. What's yours going to be? Can I just say, I think this day may just become my new favorite day of the year. I think sometimes we feel we shouldn't indulge or say “splurge” on ourselves. That we should do for others instead, well that's fine and dandy, but you do deserve a splurge on yourself from time-to-time. Whatever your indulgence, today is the day to do it. Now you may not be able to jet off and take that yacht on the French Riviera, but, maybe you can “fake it till you make it” so if you have a ferry boat or schooner nearby, jump on and take a ride. Or it just might be your local 'cruise' around the lake, just get going and have some indulgence. Have you ever smelled the wonderful fragrance from a Jo Malone scented candle, or her amazing fragrances? Or, what about a lovely Diptique candle or even better yet, how about their body lotions. I once bought one from Bergdorf Goodman's in NYC and used it for years (a long-lasting splurge indeed). Yes, I said years, since I would only use it on special occasions, or, days when I felt down in the dumps and needed a quick pick me up. That's one of the wonderful things about fragrances, they really can kick the senses into high gear. What about a splurge on taking yourself on a much needed over-night stay at your favorite bed and breakfast hotel or even a friends cabin? Can you feel the peace rolling off you yet? What about taking a splurge with a splash in a beautiful bubble bath, or, any body of water will do, do you live near a lake, a pond, a pool, or have a friends with one? See if you can swing by and take a dip, be sure to do it alone if possible and float your worries away. Don't delay, be sure to give yourself a bit of a splurge today and have fun. Cheers, Dawn-Marie XO
Greetings Lifers, Today's National Crayon Day so I thought it would be appropriate to ask which is your favorite color crayon? Did you play with crayon's as a child? I loved coloring in books for many years as a kid, did you? I want you to be child-like today and have some fun. Take out your kid's box of crayons, or some colored pencils, pens and go to town. Doodle, draw, sketch. Do something fun and feel like a kid again. I'd love to see what you did so DM me over on Instagram @DawnMariesFashionFinds. Have fun and stay creative. Love, Dawn-Marie
Hello Beautiful Lifers, Have you ever gone shopping for makeup whether at a department store counter, or, at a CVS, only to go home, try it on and think to yourself "what was I thinking?". Makeup colors can be very tricky, as a professional makeup artist, I've been studying color and in particular, makeup colors and which looks best on which skin tone. But, one thing, I found is that all makeup is NOT created equal. Nor, are the treatment products. Today I will cover how to find the right colors for your skin's temperature and how to find your skin's temperature now. So, what do you do when you went to the store and purchased all these goodies? Well, the first thing I want you to do BEFORE you go to the counter to purchase your goodies is to ask them their return policy for makeup. Most places you can return open makeup products as long as you let them know you have opened and tried the product. This will be sure that it doesn't end up back in the aisle. I had a friend who never took anything back to the store to return items. It made me crazy. To think she wasted hundreds of dollars and left it for them to have. She'd never wear the clothes she bought that she didn't like, or, any makeup or skincare (even expensive perfumes). These all can be returned. Again, just double check with the store's policies and you'll know. Whatever you do, do not use the samples that they put out on the counters. There are a gazillion of bacteria that get into them. Purchase the item and if you don't like it, be sure to return it. I also cover some ways on how to beat S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) (yes, it's a real thing) and make your winter feel less dreary. So grab your favorite pair of ear buds, your favorite beverage and pop on over. I'll see you inside. With everything going on right now we are in a state of chaos and upheaval we have never witnessed before. It's difficult when we don't know what to expect next. We definitely have had a lot of unwanted stress thrown upon us, yet, we need to stay clear and focused during these times more than ever before. I'm sure some of you out there might be going through some extra unwanted emotions, anxiety, fear, but, as you know, these emotions are poison to our well being. So, how can we take a hold of them and knock them out of our minds altogether? Well, one of the ways is through using NLP. What is NLP you may ask? NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It is a pseudoscientific approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in California, United States, in the 1970s. It's something I've been studying for over 20 years now. I first learned about it through Tony Robbins in his books and then onto John Assaraf where they teach us how to "retrain our brain". As with anything else, we can actually teach ourselves how to do this (with daily practice). So, with that said, would you like to learn how to: Reduce some of the anxiety and angst that might be nagging at you today? Reverse disease and bring your body into good health? Our guest for the day is Ashley James, she is an NLP expert and holistic health coach. She's here today to talk to us about how we can immediately lower our anxiety and reverse disease (who wouldn't want that right?). So come on over and take a listen to today's show and she will teach you how. Here's to happiness, good health, and a more tranquil day! Greetings my Lifers, Today's episode is a short reminder that when things are bogging us down we should not walk with our heads down, but, rather walk with our heads up and from time-to-time take a look up into the sky for answers to some of our biggest, burning questions. After I took a fall into a sinkhole back in 1998, I was forever walking through the streets of NYC looking down at the ground as I traveled from block to block. I wanted to make sure I didn't hit any cracks, bumps or God forbid, fall into another hole. Then one day I was a book from one of my mentor coaches and I heard him say, "lookup". And, I immediately felt like he was speaking directly to me. When I would walk through the streets of the city, I began looking up and it became a game for me. I was amazed at when I'd say to myself "look up" and I did, I'd see something beautiful. I'd take long strolls on the beach and look up, each time I did, I'd see a thing of beauty, whether it was a dragonfly, a beautiful bird, stars in the evening sky or a beautiful moon, sunrise or sunset or a rainbow. All of which made my heart sing. If you have a lot on your mind today (which most of us do), when you're out on your daily walk, take this advice and begin to look up into the sky for some answers to those burning questions of yours. Not only may you see something of beauty, but you will also realize that we are the smaller sum on a larger scale. Stay safe, happy and healthy. All My Love, Dawn-Marie P.S. If you're looking for something to do, I have some courses up - one of which is free just go to: starpowerstudio.thinkific.com
We are what we eat, that's what they say right? But, do you believe it? One of the things I found that helped keep me calm and in a better mood is to get moving more and eat better. We need to find ways to keep our stressors down and to find alternate ways of reducing stress or ways to balance our body, mind, and spirit which I believe is key to us living happier lives. Today's episode is about a couple of quick ways to help preserve them. Do you crave sugar? Who doesn't love sugar? It's one of those things we couldn't get enough of a kid - do you agree? Candy, candy, and more candy (that was our motto). We couldn't get enough of it, and, our poor parents had to deal with us on a sugar high bouncing off the walls for hours on end after we consumed our candy bar delights. As time goes by, we learn how bad sugar is for us. For a number of years now I've been trying to quit sugar. I haven't been able to quit it altogether, but I'm trying to become more diligent about the amount of it I consume. Although, I must confess, last night I was pretty bad. My beau and I consumed way too many Haagen Daz ice cream bars. They were on sale and we thought, "Why not?" We deserve a treat yes? But, then, we did it, we ate them and they were, of course, delicious but then my guilt took over. I thought to myself "why did I just let myself do this?", "I've been so good, and now I just ruined it all" has this ever happened to you? We beat ourselves up when we don't do the right thing. But, one of the things I've learned is that we shouldn't make ourselves unhappy or upset when we make a mistake. It's OK to make them just as long as we can course-correct, which is what I'm doing today. This book by JJ Virgin has helped me in the sugar craving section. I hope you'll pick up a copy if you have issues battling sugar as I do. She's pretty freakin' amazing. We always talk about the importance of setting goals and the importance of writing them down and having them on our to-do lists, but, just as important, do you acknowledge them when you reach the goal? A few years ago, I learned the importance of not only setting our goals but, also keeping a separate journal where you can actually acknowledge those achievements on the important things we set out to do for ourselves, whether it was a personal or a business thing. Do you keep an acknowledgment journal? A place where you can capture all of those amazing things that happen to you along your journey? Keeping a journal or notebook that is solely dedicated to this purpose is crucial. Today's episode is about the importance of doing just that. If you're already doing this, my hat's off to you, and if you aren't, then, its time to get started. You've accomplished a lot of things in your time, now let's start celebrating. Here's to more amazing things along your journey. With Love, Dawn-Marie XO PS Let's stay in touch: IG: @dawnmariesfashionfinds FB: dawnmariemutell
When I was younger I had a problem with not finishing what I began. If it didn't hold my attention I'd drop it and move onto the next exciting, shiny thing. Has this ever happened to you? As I got a bit older and wiser, I learned that this wasn't a good thing. And, the more books I read on self-improvement and personal empowerment, they'd all have a similar perspective on this topic. I decided I would take a stab at it. I picked one thing and began from start to finish. Once I did this, I found it easier to keep on moving onto the next thing, and then the next. Before I knew it, I was reaching my goals that much more quickly and effectively. Today's episode is a quick reminder of just that. Is there a bunch of unfinished projects laying around the house? Things you said you want to do, but, never got the information or the tools that you needed to get the job done? Don't let this steal your happiness any longer. Pick one or two of those projects, dust them off and get back on track until they're completed. It's also important to pick a date as to when you will finish them. Once you have completed them you will feel a keen sense of accomplishment and in turn, will help you move onto more of things you set out to do that you'll be able to finish successfully. I wish you the best of luck (I know you got this) and I'll meet you at the finish line. Don't you just love the feeling of a fresh start? Well, that's what ringing in a new year means to all of us. Its a time for a reflection. A time for us to gather our thoughts and make some new decisions that we can use to make our upcoming year a better, bigger, and, bolder one. I was at the Oprah 2020 Vision Tour in Ft. Lauderdale last weekend, and, boy, oh boy was I totally pumped up after that. It was so much fun, and very inspirational. One of the topics that Oprah discussed was the importance of setting intentions. I've heard this said in different books, seminars and conferences I've heard before, but, for some reason it was even more inspirational this time around. I usually try to set my intentions several times throughout the year (at least once every quarter or so). And, since we're off to a new decade, I thought I would share it with you. Today's episode is about setting your intentions, it's a quick reminder on the importance of setting them not only for your personal life, but, for your families as well as for your business so that you will have your best year yet! Let's make this decade a necessary and luxurious one. Are you one for procrastinating? It was one of my bad character traits until I finally tried to get a grip on it. If you're one for procrastinating, today may be the excuse you need to kick yourself in the pants and get moving on something you've been holding off on doing. Maybe you're looking to get physically fit and begin working out again or maybe it's as simple as cleaning out the basement or the garage. I was listening to a Joyce Meyer sermon a few weeks ago and she was talking about the difference between being smart and being wise. I thought I should cover it on the show because I feel a lot of us are smart, but, not necessarily wise. Nor, do we all use our god given gift of intuition. I cover a couple of scenarios in today's podcast and I'm also linking up Episode #002 with Jennifer Cassetta who is the queen of martial arts where she discusses the importance of awareness. So be sure to check it out after you listen to today's show. Interview with Jennifer Cassetta Stay smart, stay wise, stay intuitive and stay safe! Love, Dawn-Marie XO
We are all in such rush these days. Do you take time to eat breakfast or do you snack on a power bar and think you're good? What is your breakfast ritual? Let me know in the comments. This is a quick episode to remind you to add a little bit of luxury (on a beer and pretzels budget) for you to be sure to take time to lavish yourself with love and luxury (even if only for a few minutes of your day) Live Happily, Lovingly, Necessarily and Luxuriously, Dawn-Marie XO

Happy Spring to you!! I bet you are so excited to finally shed all of those winter clothes once and for all, get some light-weight clothing on, stare at the beautiful blooming flowers and dip your toes into the green grass. I was walking down the frozen section of the supermarket the other day and I had to pass my weakness (ice cream) and while looking at all of the wonderful flavors that are out there today, it made me think, "if I could be an ice cream flavor which one would I be?" I had to think about it for a while. I know what it would consist of, only I can't think of a name just yet. (I tell you more about it in this episode). My question for you today is this, "If you were to be an ice cream flavor, which one would you be?" I hope it's not plain old vanilla! Being different has its challenges, yet, can be very rewarding. Today's episode is a quick reminder that it's important to look your best. This, in turn, will help you feel your best. Do you care about what you wear or do you just throw on anything that pops up at you in your closet? I hope you think about what you wear. Remember, today, you only have about 30 seconds to make a good impression and what you put on your body is a true reflection of that. Make yours a lasting impression (a good one that is). Do your clothing choices reflect your personality? Or, do you just put on whatever's hanging in your closet without giving it any thought? Do you have clothing in your closets that you haven't worn in years? Or, are they out of style? It's time to take a look-see and check out your wardrobe. It might be time for a quick update. It's never too late to do this, so please take some time to do it. This will keep you on your path and then the best part, you can check it off your list once it's done. Today I will cover how you can challenge yourself and add some luxury to your life for one entire week (on a beer and pretzels budget). When I refer to luxury, it isn't necessarily about something that costs a ton of money, rather they're more about necessities. These days, I believe we take everything for granted. Think about how difficult it was back in the day just to heat up the house, take a bath, wash clothes or even have light in your room so that you could read a book at night. In today's show, I will cover a few quick ways you can add some luxury to your life. I want you to do it for a whole week. Luxury isn't necessarily about an inanimate object, it can also be about a feeling or vibe. So let's get started. Yesterday was #America Recycles Day, how can you help our planet Earth? Do you recycle, if not, why not? Do you feel it's not necessary or that it takes up too much time? Believe it or not, every little step you can do to help recycle can keep our mother earth looking it's most beautiful, keep our air clean and continue to have clean water. Be sure to teach your children about the importance of recycling and how they help put a dent in keeping our world a clean and safe place to live. Happy recycling! Today's episode covers the importance of keeping your power. I'm not referring to mystical or magical power, but, rather the power of this thing called YOUR LIFE! You may not realize it, but, when you give up your power to something or someone, you wind up losing a piece of yourself in the process. What do I mean by this? Well, have you ever had someone in your life take over your time? Stop you from doing the things you love? Or, they have you doing something that might be wreaking havoc on you and your health? You may not even be fully aware of it. For example, maybe your boss has you working too many hours and you're not able to spend any quality time with your friends and family? I speak about this in more depth in my upcoming book but, I wanted to share a little bit about it with you today because maintaining your power -- your life is one of the most important things you can do to help yourself have a great and satisfying life. You see, I know this only too well. I once gave up my power. It was to a man that I was involved with for almost a decade. I did everything for him and in the process, I lost myself, my friends, my family, and I let my business slide to the sidelines. I never thought I'd see the day but there it was staring me right in the face. The last thing I want is for this to happen to you. So take a quick listen to today's episode and find ways to reclaim your power if you've been letting someone else steal it from you. Stay strong my friends. Today's episode is yet another necessity. It's about a very touchy topic. This week is National Estate Planning week and although I'm not a lawyer or advisor, I've learned about some of the things we need in our lives that will help protect ourselves and our family. It's about something we usually don't want to think about, let alone talk about with our loved ones. It's about planning your final wishes and leaving instructions about your health care decisions. If something bad was going to happen to you tomorrow, would your loved ones know what to do? Do they know your final wishes? Or, if you were hospitalized do they know what you'd like for them to do? There are 4 documents everyone should have in place in their lives right now. No worries, I'm guilty of not having these either and will begin this week to get them in place. 1) A Durable Power of Attorney 2) Advance Medical Directives i)A Healthcare Proxy ii)A Living Will iii)A DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) 3) A Will 4) A Letter of Instruction Today I will cover each of the above. So grab a pen and paper and take some good notes. Don't leave your loved ones in the dark on this very important matter. I hope you never have to use any of these documents for decades to come, but, it's better to have everything in place so that you and your family can rest well knowing you've dotted all of the I's and crossed all of the T's. Please stay healthy and happy my friends. Love, Dawn-Marie XO Stay in touch: Instagram: @dawnmariesfashions Facebook: dawnmariemutell
Are you happy? Do people who know you say "you're always smiling" what's up with that? Or, "how do you stay so happy?". I learned when I was around 22 that happiness is not something we're born with, but, something that we cultivate in our lives. I read this book "Happiness is a Choice" by Frank M.D. Minirth and Paul Meier (if you've never read it, I highly suggest checking it out. I picked up a copy of this book because after I was hit by the drunk driver and my mom's passing away, I felt myself go into a deep funk, a depression of sorts. I hid it from my family and friends, but, I didn't feel the same way before my mom died or before the accident. My best friend was now gone and I had some serious injuries to my spine that the doctors said would be with me for the rest of my life unless I had a surgery which they didn't feel I should do at the time or guarantee me that it would last. Either way, I was sad, despondent, felt broken and was broke financially, I felt separated from the rest of the world and didn't know which way to turn. So I prayed about it and God would drop some hints my way. I'd get some golden nuggets of information from books or conferences I'd attend, or strangers I'd talk to you on a plane. I refused to take the antidepressants or medicines that the doctors gave me for pain. I can't begin to tell you how many different prescriptions they gave me from the various doctors I saw and chose not to take any of them. My goal was to heal as much naturally as I could and sustain the injuries and get my happiness and claim my life back. Depression, for those who may have suffered from it, or, are suffering from it know how debilitating it can be. One day you feel great, the next you don't know what hit you. Today's episode is about how you should learn how to create moments of happiness and bring back that smile, that glow and get your life back on track. Stay strong my friends. Remember, happiness is not just a choice, it's a necessity!!! Today is #NationalNewYorkDay and well, being a native New Yorker, I just had to write a little homage to say what a great place it is to grow up. One of my favorite NY Style sandwiches is the Bagel and Lox which I have a little video on my YouTube channel here at: Bagel and Lox Video If you love it as much as I do, check it out and make one today, or this weekend for brunch. What I love most about New York is that there are so many wonderful ways you can take a mini vacation when you need it. You can travel 40 minutes out of the city and be in the Adirondack Mountains, or you can travel a few hours and be in Vermont, Washington DC or Boston. How cool is that? How can you celebrate #NationalNewYorkDay? Well, there are a few ways: -Create a bagel lox sandwich or a Corned Beef Reuben. -Take out some Sinatra and play some of his tunes, including "New York, New York". -Check out a Broadway play that might be in your town. -Rent a video from Amazon Prime - Fame, American Gangster, West Side Story, 42nd Street, An Affair to Remember, Big... -Pick up some new fashion digs, go to H&M or to Forever 21 where you can find the most trendy items for less and put on a new outfit and meet your friends for a Cosmo at a swanky restaurant. Whatever you decide to do, do it with style and flair and enjoy! Remember to leave me a review and subscribe so that you never miss out on any future episodes. In my early days when I rented a couple of my apartments in Brooklyn, I didn't have a bathtub in the studio apartment. It only had a shower stall and the bathrooms were super tiny. Then I moved into a one bedroom in Bath Beach and I actually had a tub again. I had missed out on using the bathtub which I desperately needed with all of the aches and pains from my injuries from the car accidents and fall into the sinkhole and a shower never quite helped me the way soaking in some Epsom salts in a bathtub would. Are you a fan of taking baths? If not, why not? I know some people have never stepped into a bathtub, yet, I am still baffled by this. Why wouldn't you want to soak the stress of the day away? One of the things I love to do is to add fragrance oils as well as salts and bubbles to make this oasis concoction and help me unwind and de-stress. Some of my favorite oils to use are: LAVENDER OIL L'Occitane Moisturizing Cream L'Occitane Verbena Shower Gel and I love to add a facial and hair masque to make the treatment complete. Here are some of my favorites: BUMBLE AND BUMBLE HAIR MASK Origins Mask LaMer Face Moisturizer Be sure when you pop out of your shower or bath that you moisturize your skin immediately -- this will lock in and seal the moisture into your skin. This is something my mom taught me when I was 11 and have done it every day of my life since. Well, I hope you'll change your mind if you've never taken baths before and join us millions who do. And, for those of you already taking luxurious baths, please continue and enjoy the rest and relaxation it provides. Happy bathing! This episode is a little bit of a rant and rave! I walked into a Dollar Tree store a few days ago and saw that they were starting to hang up Christmas Decorations and I immediately became a bit perturbed. Do you think they're starting a bit too early to begin the holiday season? I'd love to know what you think. But, on the other hand, since its up an ready, maybe we can begin our shopping a little bit earlier this year so that we can actually enjoy the holiday season this year. Today is National Tequila Day. Tequila is one of my favorite drinks. The first time I ever had it was in Mexico back in 1983. Have you ever seen the worm at the bottle of Tequila? It freaked me out the first time I saw one. Couldn't believe that people actually drank it. Tequila is made from the blue agave plant which is harvested by hand. It's stripped down and ground up in a stone bowl and then the extract is collected and distilled. One of my favorite brands is Herradura Tequila it's smooth and best when chilled. How can you celebrate Tequila Day? Well, if you have a Bahama Breeze restaurant near you, they're offering $5 Margaritas 7/24 - 7/26. Better yet, pick up Or, pick up a nice bottle of tequila (see above link) and make them at home with some fresh squeezed lime juice and simple sugar, blend with ice and viola - you're Margarita. You can also add fruit of your choice. I just love a Strawberry Margarita. Be sure to call over some friends, and have them bring the Guacamole, chips and Salsa dip, put on some Mexican tunes and get in the groove. You could also go for a tequila tasting. Check out your local libation stores to see if anyone is running one. Have fun, share some of your Margarita or Tequila drinks and remember to always drink responsibly. Cheers, Dawn-Marie XO
When the pressure is on, it's easy for us to crack under it. Are you able to remain calm and poised or do you fly off the handle like a madman when things are getting out of whack? I used to be the second one above many, many years ago and then I quickly learned that it wasn't going to do my health any good so I learned how to adjust and become more peaceful when handling stress. It's never easy when we're faced with challenging moments. Our fight or flight response will always kick into high gear leaving us frazzled and exhausted. Today's quick episode contains a podcast I did about this topic, then I actually had a challenging moment, and I recorded another message while I was in the thick of it. Remember when you're in that stress zone to stay as calm as possible and remember "this too shall pass". April is Straw Hat Month. I just love straw hats. Today's episode I give a quick talk on the history of straw hats and how many uses they have. I started wearing straw hats in the 80's in New York City. Not only are they stylish and fun, there are so many new styles that they didn't have back then and they also serve many other great functions. They can help with: a) Shield you from the sun's damaging rays. b) Keep a hairdo looking great from rainy weather. c) Help you stay cool by releasing the heat from the hot sun in the summer months. d) Make you look stylish, fun and creative. e) Can hide your hair on a bad-hair day. f) Conversation starter. Straw hats are made from many types of grasses and straw. Did you know that palm trees and grasses have much in common? So take a quick listen, enjoy and get your hat on! With much love, Dawn-Marie XO
April is National Home Decorating month which is one of my favorite pastimes. Is your home in need of some sprucing up? If so, now's the time to do it. Are you looking to just give your home a thorough cleaning, or, a full kitchen renovation, if you have the budget, go for it, now is your chance. There are plenty of Spring home furnishing sales going on right now so if you're looking for a new set of sheets or bedding which will make your bedroom look totally different or if you're looking for new living room furniture, the sales are bountiful, so take advantage to find what find what you're looking for to make your home feel new and vibrant. Decorating your home doesn't have to cost you a lot of money. Just adding a few small touches can do a lot. If you love the scent of candles, pick up a couple of inexpensive ones at your local Walmart, Big Lots or Home Goods store. You'll be glad you did. There's nothing like making your home cozy and inviting. Don't forget to invite some of your friends and loved ones over to enjoy your labor of love. Happy decorating! Dawn-Marie XO

Most of us today have a home office today, they're not only for the wealthy or for those who work from home. Some have home offices so that there's a place to write out the monthly bills or just have time alone to read a book. Today is #National Organize Your Home Day. So, I want to give you a few tips on how you can quickly organize your home office so that you can revel and enjoy the space. If it's full of clutter, the first thing I want you to do is turn on some music that will pump you up, grab a large trash bag and toss out the following items: Unread Magazines Toss papers that you no longer have a need for Any soda cans or empty snack bags Next step is to clear off your desk, even if it means you need to make piles and put them on the floor until you find a home for them. I want you to be able to work on that desk. Do you have a calendar for 2018? Is it on your desk? If not, where is it? Pull it out and place it on your desk. Have you created a vision board for 2018? If not, start one today. Pull some images out of a magazine that you can relate to. For instance, if you're looking for a new love, pull out some images of a man and woman having fun, looking deeply into each others eyes where you can see they're in love. Or, if you're looking for a new wardrobe, pull out images of the clothes you'd like to wear, etc. Do this for each aspect of your life and be sure it's around where you can look a it every day. Did you buy a calendar for 2018? Have you opened it up yet? Or, is still in the plastic shrink-wrap sitting somewhere in your office? Get it out, add the important dates into it i.e., birthdays, anniversaries etc. Pick up a potted plant at your local supermarket or fresh cut flowers to really make your home office look and smell beautiful. Well, that's all for today. Get moving and get clearing. Happy Organizing!!! With much love, Dawn-Marie XO
