A thousand years ago, Karlon Stark put down a rebel lord and was rewarded with lands and a castle he named Karhold. The Karhold Starks became House Karstark, greatly benefiting Winterfell and the reverse to the Dreadfort. Over the centuries, the Starks and Karstarks would intermarry several times, renewing their ancient ties through marriage alliance. But the events of ASOIAF have seen great change, as Rickard Karstark went from staunch ally of King Robb Stark to the execution block. There's now a rush to claim Karhold - his daughter Alys married Sigorn, son of the man who led the attack on Castle Black and they've got 200 Thenns backing them, but the lawful heir Harrion Karstark is still alive in the south and Arnolf Karstark has conspired with the Boltons to betray Stannis to claim the castle for his son Cregan. Game of Owns - A Song of Ice and Fire/House of the Dragon/Game of Thrones podcast
It's fight and flght for Jon, seizing an opportunity to escape the Thenns and his merry band of new friends. In the East, Daenerys lowers the defense of Yunkai with the help of Daario Naharis.
It's been four years in the making, but the Wildlings have finally made it to the wall for one of the most epic battles in TV history. We apologize for the lateness, folks, but The Cast Beyond the Wall has arrived just in time to discuss this climactic and hugely polarizing episode of Game of Thrones! Austin, Daniel, and I are joined by a former professor and avid Thrones fan Mark Pickens to weigh in on whether or not there's any hope for Sam as the Thenns attack. This week's episode revs up the epic scope to an eleven as it tries to give the unforgettable “Blackwater” a run for its money as the most bombastic Game of Thrones episode yet! Swords will clash and blades will bleed as Mark and Austin argue Sam's newfound meaning and leadership while Daniel and I can't seem to agree on how well the battle ended. And all of us try to decide whether we cared enough about Ygritte to mourn her cheesy and anti-climatic death. Director Neil Marshall returns to the director's chair and brings his creativity and love of wWildling killing Night's Watch cooks along with him. Did I mention that there were also giants riding mammoths? Is this the best episode of the show yet? Is there any hope for Samwell Tarly? Most importantly, will Janos Slynt ever come out of the closet to confront the giants? Tune in and join us on this week's episode of The Cast Beyond the Wall to find out!
“Breaker of Chains”, Season 4 Episode 3 of HBO’s “Game of Thrones”, takes a victory lap, before dealing with the ripples of one of the biggest shocks to hit Westeros yet. Ivan and Red are joined by comedian Matt Lieb to discuss this episode which sets the stage for the rest of the season. We cover Sansa running into Gendry, Littlefinger doing Batman’s voice, the absolute worst kind of sexual act, the loudest slurping scene in modern television, The Hound going Galt, Samwell Tarly’s poor judgement, the return of The BORG (or Thenns), knife to horse combat, and a really respectable pyramid. Jon and Ygritte get thier bicker on, but things get serious when the Thenns want Jon to kill an old man they've taken prisoner. Jon can't do it, Ygritte can, and then a wolf jumps in and everything goes to straight to hell!
