It's really the only way to cope with the trade deadline. Lots to cover in this super-sized episode, only partly fueled by very delicious (organic!) tequila. The big news was supposed to be Tarik Skubal, for which Patti doesn't fault the LAD, she faults everyone else. The gut punch was once and forever Adley to BOS, which sets up all sorts of interesting co-host dynamics for AL East games to come. But the rest of baseball continues – Nasim can't stop stealing bases and Kaz stole his first. Ivan has more bruises than you'd expect and Daylen needs a lecture on what “old-school' really means. Salvy is just the best. You can now use “ultimate grand slam” with confidence, and explain WRC+ to friends and family. Patti is ready to defend scooters as a component of multimodal transportation and not a “sport” to the Giants if necessary. Pottymouth welcomes the start of the inaugural WPBL season. Please read this piece on Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve – problematic but an excellent conversation starter. And one of your hosts finds the idea of push-up sushi in a ballpark pretty compelling. We say, “Chahge ya cah in Bah Hahbah,” “You can't just randomly stop paying me because I was out on a scooter at 2am,” and “Transphobic with a Barbie smile.” Fight the man, go see some live baseball, send your game balls to Meredith, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. The WNBA's two highest-scoring teams played a whirlwind of a game this weekend. The dust settled on a win for the Minnesota Lynx, who beat the Indiana Fever 108 to 100. The close game also played out against a political backdrop. Protesters gathered outside Target Center to show support and opposition to Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham's stance against transgender athletes participating in girls and women's sports. Inside the arena, a few people wore shirts that said, “Trans kids belong,” including Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve. She talked with Cunningham on the sidelines before the game and later said she appreciated the face-to-face dialogue. The Lynx win, their 10th in a row, makes this their longest winning streak since 2016. Meanwhile, the Twins are up against a trade deadline on Monday. And the Savannah Bananas will be taking over Target Field this weekend while the Twins are away. Joining Minnesota Now with the latest sports headlines are contributors Wally Langfellow and Eric Nelson.
The WNBA trade deadline has come and gone with just one major move. Let's talk about why Kelsey Plum to the Mercury is a long-term play for both Phoenix and the Sparks! Let's also get into what makes the Lynx so dangerous, whether or not people are tired of talking about the Aces, and the surprising Valkyries! Then, we head over to the NBA to talk about the biggest offseason moves. Obviously, LeBron to the 76ers is the headliner. How much did the Celtics' moves help make that happen? As far as LeBron's old team is concerned, how well are the Lakers positioned for life after the King? And can Pat Riley bake? Tap in!Want more of what I'm doing? Robin also explains his ‘Big Five' creatures of the Dean which feature in his artwork.Robin also explains the scowles of the Forest of Dean, a landform which inspired Tolkein's Lord of the Ring's Middle-earth landscape.
