A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms brings Westeros back to basics — no dragons, no throne room scheming (well… less of it), just one towering hedge knight and his sharp, secret-packed squire trying to survive the politics of chivalry. Dunk is earnest, broke, and way in over his head. Egg is smarter than he lets on. The show trades epic spectacle for grounded storytelling, focusing on honor, class, and the quiet tension bubbling beneath tournaments and banners. It's smaller in scale than Game of Thrones, but richer in heart. A slow burn? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. Το A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms ολοκλήρωσε το πρώτο του τουρνουά, αλλά δεν χρειάζεται να πούμε αντίο. Μόνο εις το επανιδείν, αφού η δεύτερη σεζόν της σειράς βρίσκεται ήδη στα σκαριά.Βάζοντας μία προσωρινή τελεία στο σύμπαν του Game of Thrones μέχρι το καλοκαιρινό House of the Dragon, το POP για τις Δύσκολες Ώρες αναλύει το φινάλε Morrow και ξέρει ήδη πως ο Dunk και ο Egg θα μας λείψουν.Σε έξι καλοφτιαγμένα επεισόδια, το A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms εξερεύνησε τι σημαίνει ταυτότητα σε έναν κόσμο όπου το στάτους καθορίζει ποιος ευημερεί και ποιος υποφέρει. Σε μια τολμηρή απόκλιση από τα βιβλία, αποκαλύπτεται πως ο Ser Arlan Of Pennytree δίδαξε στον Dunk την ευπρέπεια και το πώς να χειρίζεται το σπαθί, αλλά δεν τον είχε χρίσει ποτέ επίσημα ιππότη. Τι άλλο, όμως, είχε να του πει και τι θέλει ο Dunk να μεταδώσει από όλα αυτά στον Egg; Και πώς νιώθει ο Maekar για την πρόταση του πρώτου να πάρει τον δεύτερο για ιπποκόμο σε όλη την ήπειρο του Westeros;Τι θα μπορούσε να γίνει ένας Targaryen, εάν μεγάλωνε χωρίς σημαίες και διαδοχή; Καθώς ο Dunk αναλογίζεται αυτό το ερώτημα, ο Egg σκέφτεται μερικά δικά του, παρατηρώντας πως τα ωραία ασημένια μαλλιά του επανέρχονται, και πως η νέα του ταυτότητα ως Egg είναι έτοιμη να εξαλειφθεί από την αρχαία σκοτεινή πλευρά των Targaryen.Αυτό όμως που κάνει το A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms τόσο επιτυχημένο θεματικά, είναι πως φλερτάρει με το αβυσσαλέο έρεβος του George R.R. Martin, οι χαρακτήρες του όμως ευδοκιμούν παρά της έλξης του. Τι θα φέρει λοιπόν το αύριο;

Season Endings and Real-World Goodbyes This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl break down the Season 1 finale of HBO's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, reflect on the season as a whole, and celebrate the life and career of actor Robert Carradine. Did the finale land the joust, or did it pull up short at the lists? And where does this first season rank among HBO's growing Westerosi saga? Plus, we say goodbye to a certified nerd icon. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 News Bites – Robert Carradine: 5:30 A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – Season 1 Finale Review: 13:47 Season 1 Retrospective: 40:12 Final Thoughts: 46:52 News Bites Robert Carradine (1954–2026) Robert Carradine, best known for his role as Lewis Skolnick in Revenge of the Nerds, has passed away. Carradine was part of the legendary Carradine acting family, son of John Carradine and brother to David and Keith Carradine. While he built a long résumé in film and television, he became a generational touchstone for playing the underdog genius in the 1984 cult classic Revenge of the Nerds and its sequels. Beyond that franchise, Carradine appeared in projects such as The Long Riders, Lizzie McGuire, King of the Nerds, and numerous television roles across decades. He embodied a very specific cinematic archetype: the smart outsider who eventually wins. For an entire era of fandom, he helped make “nerd” aspirational. We tip the pocket protector in respect. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – Season 1 Finale Episode Title: ‘The Morrow’ Director: Sarah Adina Smith Writer: Ira Parker & Ti Mikkel Network: HBO The Season 1 finale brings Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg's first major Westerosi chapter to a close. Lyonel invites Dunk to move to Storm’s End, but Dunk believes that he brings only bad luck. Baelor’s body is cremated at his funeral. Dunk finds Valarr, who questions why his father died, but Dunk was left alive. Raymun reveals he has married the prostitute Rowan, alias Red. Maekar informs Dunk that Aerion will spend time in the Free Cities to atone. He laments that Baelor would have been a good king and invites Dunk to Summerhall, where Egg can be his squire; Dunk declines, which Egg overhears. In a flashback, Dunk asks Arlan why he was never knighted. Arlan retorts that a true knight always finishes a story. In the present, Daeron tells Dunk to mentor Egg to prevent him from becoming like Aerion. Egg discovers that his hair is regrowing. He takes a knife to Aerion’s bedroom, but Maekar calms him down. Dunk asks Maekar if Egg can squire for him on the road, but Maekar refuses. Raymun buys Sweetfoot back for Dunk, who then gifts her to Raymun. As Dunk leaves Ashford, Egg arrives, and they depart together. Egg suggests that they travel to Dorne. An angry Maekar later realizes that Egg is gone. Key themes explored: – Honor vs. ambition – The weight of legacy – The quiet tension of noble politics – The personal cost of knighthood – Nature vs. Nurture The episode leans more on moral consequence than explosive set pieces, reinforcing the show's identity as a smaller-scale, character-first entry in the Game of Thrones universe. Brian & Darryl Discuss: – Did the finale feel satisfying or intentionally restrained? – Was the pacing consistent with the season's slower, novelistic approach? – Standout performances – Production design and tonal consistency – How does this set up future seasons Rating out of 5 When the Laughing Storm Offers You War, You Say Yes Brian: 4.88/5 Darryl: 4.6/5 Season 1 Retrospective Season 1 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms carved out its own lane in Westeros by shrinking the scope and focusing on intimacy over spectacle. Season strengths: – Character chemistry between Dunk and Egg – Political nuance without overwhelming lore – Strong costume and set authenticity – A grounded tone closer to early Game of Thrones Rating out of 10, Wow, That Hedge Knight has a HUGE “Sword” Brian: 9.17/10 Darryl: 9.5/10 Question of the Week What would you do if you were invisible for a day? Season 1 ends with grief, gallows humor, and one last choice that changes everything.In A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Episode 6, “The Morrow,” the dust finally settles after the Trial of Seven — and the show leans hard into what Dunk & Egg really is: a story about honor, class, consequences… and the road.This episode is basically all epilogue, but it still hits like a lance to the ribs: Baelor's funeral, Dunk spiraling into guilt, Maekar trying (and failing) to keep control of his family, and Egg deciding whether he becomes another spoiled prince… or something better.

Mario Busto and Zachary Newton recap the finale of A Night of the Seven Kingdoms as an epilogue after the Trial of Seven, confirming Baelor's death and tracking Dunk's shift from self-pity to renewed purpose. They discuss the show's deviation from the book regarding Maekar allowing (or refusing) Egg to leave with Dunk, debate whether Ser Arlan truly knighted Dunk in an intentionally open-ended flashback, and highlight standout moments including Maekar silently stopping Egg from attempting to kill his brother and Valarr's line about fathers dying in their sons' armor. They note Dunk turning down offers, giving Sweetfoot to Raymun Fossoway, and the final “fellowship” ride into the sunset with Arlan's symbolic departure. They praise the season, expect yearly releases, and share predictions for a side-quest-style season two as Egg matures.00:00 Finale Kickoff00:42 Season Wrap Thoughts02:32 Book Change Debate03:58 Goodbye Sir Arlan04:51 Was Dunk Knighted09:34 Aftermath Offers10:55 Trial Scene Craft12:55 Season Pacing Wishes14:26 Podcast Plug Break16:12 Eggs Dark Turn19:03 Silent Mycar Scene19:35 Easter Eggs Vilar22:00 Valyrian House Velaryon23:09 Why Fathers Wear Armor24:27 Trial of Seven Logic25:55 Name Day Chaos26:55 Dunk Takes Egg28:42 Raymond Marries Red30:47 Fame After The Trial32:19 Sweetfoot And Arlan32:49 Tarth Connection Tease33:24 Sunset Ride Finale34:09 Season One Verdict34:42 Favorites And Predictions37:25 Wrap Up And ThanksKeep up with all things Story Archives Official Website: soapbox.house Email: contact@soapbox.houseSupport this show: Spotify | PayPalFollow the hosts on Instagram: @mariobusto @zacharyrnewtonMario's Production Company: 1992films.comZachary's Design Company: zacharyrnewton.com

And so ends this tale of A Knight of the Nine Kingdoms. Help us say goodbye to Dunk, Egg, Sweetfoot, Ser Arlan, and a bunch of other characters who actually aren't coming back for the third time. ---- Reminder: You can and should still contact your congresspeople to not only add guardrails around ICE but to defund (and dismantle) them. Find and call your congresspeople by phoning the Capitol switchboard: 202-224-3121 All you have to do is say the name of your Senator or Representative, and you'll be directed to their congressional office. Not sure who represents you in Congress or how to find them? You can also find more of their contact information and their name on this site: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member Besides calling Congress, if you're not sure what you can do, here are some more actions you can take, in no particular order: Get involved with mutual aid (this will differ depending on where you're based, so we didn't include any links) Donate to mutual aid or to organizations such as the ACLU, RAICES, National Immigration Project, Legal Aid Justice Center or local orgs that may need more support. Find a local rapid response effort and save their number to your phone. Know what to look for and what to report. Protest. Attend a bystander training or response training. Pressure local officials, employers, and landlords to refuse to cooperate with ICE. This is by no means an exhaustive list. Other actions you can take exist. Spoilers, profanity, Jaime x Brienne. Surprise, we're all charmed by Lyonel's “come home with me” pillow talk, but we're split on his anti-Targ agenda. Do Maekar and Dunk have a trauma bond? Bring on the additions if they're like this Egg contemplating murdering Aerion scene—we're leaning into it like Egg leaning into Maekar. Like Dunk, we're all a little melancholy as we say goodbye to Ser Arlan, but at least Sweetfoot gets a happy ending in her apple orchard. AKotSK. A Song of Ice and Fire. A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS (oder doch NINE KINGDOMS?) geht mit dem Staffelfinale vorerst zuende. Host Victor records a combined podcast episode (delayed by illness and heavy snow) covering multiple shows, with timestamps promised in show notes. He gives a spoiler-free endorsement of the Night of the Seven Kingdoms finale, praising its more humane, character-focused close and calling several scenes among the best in the Game of Thrones universe. Victor then delivers an in-depth recap of Industry season 4 episode 7 (“Points of Emphasis”), focusing on Yasmin and Henry's unraveling marriage and Henry's dependence on Yasmin to “mother” him. A letter from Whitney is framed as a strategic document meant to implicate Henry in Tender's crisis. Victor emphasizes the episode's themes of narrative as reality in finance and politics, comparing it to real-world corporate valuations and acquisitions, and arguing the economy often runs on belief and storytelling. He outlines Harper's strategy to attack Tender via press and political leaks, Yasmin's manipulation of tabloids and MPs to force a new audit, and internal government backstabbing within the ruling party. Whitney and Henry fly to New York to pitch an overpaying acquisition of PeerPoint to avoid scrutiny, but Whitney is threatened by Ferdinand over the value of Tender's data set. At the PeerPoint meeting, Whitney's claim that shell companies give him standing is later revealed as a lie; PeerPoint used Tender's bid to raise another offer. Whitney disappears, and Tender's stock collapses after the government imposes a full PricewaterhouseCoopers audit, implying Harper's short will pay off. The episode ends with a key Yasmin–Harper reconciliation, mutual admiration, and a club scene where they promise to “have each other's back” and share a nonsexual kiss. Victor is then joined by Alan, who discusses watching Night of the Seven Kingdoms weekly, contrasting it favorably with House of the Dragon. They praise the show's intimate scale, character focus, and finale highlights (Dunk and Arlan under the tree, recurring knighting motifs, Lionel's complexity, Baelor's reflections, Maekar's confession and request to protect his son, Egg's hair reveal, and the “Nine Kingdoms” joke). They note the penultimate episode's violence escalation, discuss criticisms such as “fridging,” and comment on the show's six short episodes and Warner Brothers' stated goal of annual seasons. They move to Paradise season 2 episodes 1–3. They recall Paradise season 1's surprise sci-fi twist and word-of-mouth success, noting the new official podcast. Episode 1 (“Graceland”) follows a new character, portrayed by Shailene Woodley in the present, with flashbacks to her youth and medical training; she lives at Graceland during the early apocalypse, meets Link and his group (who subvert expectations by not being predatory), has sex with Link, becomes pregnant, and hears discussion of a Colorado bunker and an instruction to kill “Alex.” She later sees a burning plane and rides out, leading into episode 2. Episode 2 centers on Xavier's post-bunker flight, crash, encounters with a group of children, and a violent confrontation with an armed adult; Victor and Alan like some flashback material (including Xavier meeting his wife) but find the “lost kids” plotline less compelling. Episode 3 returns to the bunker's politics: the new president proposes “summer” as a quality-of-life change, Sinatra interrogates Jane with a polygraph, and multiple characters experience nosebleeds and visions tied to “Project Alex,” quantum entanglement, and a newly introduced “Venus effect” threat. Alan criticizes implausible plot points, including a bar-room corporate signature transfer and the president's assassination staging, where Jane appears incompetent and relies on convenience to frame Sinatra. The episode ends with Cal's son detained and brought to a secured area connected to Project Alex, while Victor and Alan speculate the season may introduce time-travel elements. They plan to continue weekly discussions when Darren returns. mailto:needssomeintroduction@gmail.com 00:00 Show Packed Preamble 02:37 Industry Episode Setup 02:45 Yasmin and Henry Fallout 09:50 Faith Economy Digression 16:46 Whitney Pitch and PurePoint 22:13 Political Backstabbing Plot 30:34 New York Threats and Data 34:03 Deal Collapses and Aftermath 36:26 Yasmin Harper Bonding 40:14 Alan Joins and 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'  49:02 Stakes and Spoilers 50:27 Pilot to Finale Shift 52:41 Budget and Battle Clarity 54:20 Fridging and Prequel Pitfalls 57:01 Finale Craft and Knighthood 01:04:10 George Martin Delays 01:08:09 Thrones Ending Debate 01:10:38 Finale Scene Highlights 01:15:00 Maekar Confession Scene 01:16:31 Spotting a Chameleon Actor 01:17:23 Egg's Hair Horror 01:18:08 Finale Tag Debate 01:20:35 Nine Kingdoms Math 01:23:00 Wrap Up and Switch Shows 01:23:30 Paradise Premise and Twist 01:26:26 Fogelman and This Is Us Tone 01:28:37 Pulpy Fun vs Prestige Drama 01:30:48 Eighty Songs Running Gag 01:31:50 Dewey Decimal Theory 01:33:20 Season Two Twist Speculation 01:34:48 Graceland Episode Breakdown 01:38:49 Apocalypse POV and Plot Holes 01:41:31 How Long Would You Survive 01:43:20 Prepping Books and Faraday Plans 01:45:15 Population Collapse Thought Experiment 01:46:29 Gail Dies and Link Arrives 01:47:11 Tactical Crew Subversion 01:48:56 One Night Pregnancy Debate 01:49:57 Messiah Parallel and Awkward Sex 01:52:22 Body Hair Realism and Hesitation 01:55:39 Burning Plane and Horse Return 01:58:21 Nosebleeds and Time Fugue 02:00:20 Xavier Crash and Lost Boys 02:03:54 Flashback Romance and Blindness 02:07:07 Swamp Fight and Kid Brutality 02:10:15 Back to Bunker Politics 02:12:54 Climate Control Logic 02:14:15 Diplomacy Fail Fallout 02:16:08 Venus Effect Escalation 02:18:19 Quantum Entanglement Talk 02:21:42 Billy Hitman Flashback 02:23:11 Barroom Paperwork Nitpick 02:26:16 Polygraph Loophole Bug 02:28:35 Nosebleeds and Visions 02:30:44 President Assassination Setup 02:34:54 Project Alex and Wrap Up

ABOUT THE EPISODE --Dan and Don RETURN to Reel Therapy to discuss the first season of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" by HBO Max. Is it a return to form for "Game of Thrones" or are we wishing that they bury the IP like a rotting corpse? We discuss that and more plus stick around for the end to hear Daniel and Donavon reminisce about Bioware's "Mass Effect".TABLE OF CONTENTS --00:00:00 - About the Episode00:00:40 - Greetings00:04:48 - A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - Season One Overview00:38:25 - Before We GoABOUT THE SHOW - A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms --Set nearly a century before the events of Game of Thrones, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms follows the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (“Dunk”) and his young squire, Egg. Based on George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the series trades sprawling wars for intimate character-driven storytelling, exploring honor, loyalty, and political intrigue across the Seven Kingdoms. As Dunk and Egg journey from tourneys to courtly conflicts, their bond is tested against the quiet tensions brewing in Westeros long before dragons return to the skies.FIND US --For everything Reel Therapy and 241 Studios, check out our website:LINK: https://www.241studios.com/Follow us on:Instagram: @reeltherapy_podcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/reeltherapypodTikTok: @reeltherapy_pod
