This week on The Roe Show I interview Veli-Matti Saarela, 2-time European Tricking Champion from Finland. Vellu, as he's called, has 15 years of tricking experience and is now an entrepreneur and founder of Legend Trick Shows & Legend Trick Gym. We discuss how he took tricking to a new level with his shows and performances, where the sport came from and how he produced his shows, plus where he sees the sport going in the future. "Tricking is a growing sport which mixes elements from martial arts, gymnastics and breakdancing. Tricking athletes aim for creating aesthetically pleasing combinations of kicks, flips and twists," says Vellu. He has been tricking, competing, performing and teaching across Europe and the US, United Arab Emirates and China. Vellu and his previous team earned recognition by winning numerous tricking battles and making it to the finals of Finland's Got Talent 2011. Vellu's goal is to push forward tricking as a sport as well as an art form and make it familiar for more people in Finland and around the world. What makes Vellusta's performers stand out from the other tricking performers is their unique style of incorporating innovative choreography with powerful tricks. High energy, acrobatic shows spiced with elements from modern circus and dance are his speciality. His shows also combine stirring body coordination, disciplined martial arts and high-flying flips that make the audience gasp.
